Fitna, of course, simply contains Qur'an verses and depicts Muslims preaching violence and committing acts of violence on the basis of those verses. So the best response to it from the Iranian government or anyone else would be a comprehensive, honest, and transparent effort to convince Muslims (not non-Muslims -- that's easy, and unhelpful) to reject the Islamic imperatives to violence or Islamic supremacism, and to adopt principles of peaceful coexistence with non-Muslims as equals on an indefinite basis.
But instead, we will get more soothing propaganda that will fool the credulous but do nothing to prevent Muslims from committing acts of violence in the name of Islam.
"Pro-Islam Film to be Released in Response to 'Fitna,'" from The Media Line, July 22:
A short film titled Beyond Love will soon be released by the Iranian-based NGO Islam and Christianity (IC), in response to the anti-Islamic Dutch film Fitna, the Iranian news agency IRNA reported."The film aims to introduce the real Islam. It will be useful for those who want to get acquainted with Islam," said IC spokesman Muhammad Karimi.
Earlier this year, Dutch filmmaker Geert Wilders produced Fitna, which claimed to have explored Quranic motivations for terrorism. The film was condemned by many in the West, as well as in the Muslim world. Al-Qa'ida even issued a religious decree against Wilders, while the Dutch government was quick to distance itself from the film.
While IC claims to be an independent organization, Radio Netherlands quoted an Iranian journalist a few months ago as saying that it was created by the government itself.
"It is an NGO of 'convenience'; it is absolutely clear that this is a government initiative," said Mina Sa'adi, a journalist working for the independent Farsi-language website Shahrzad News.

It will be fascinating to see the Qur'anic passages and words or acts by Muhammad, uswa hasana, al-insan al-kamil, the Islamic Republic of Iran film-makers rely on -- or carefully don't rely on.
Abbas Kierostami needn't worry about the competition.

Iranian government response to Fitna "aims to introduce the real Islam"
Boy, that film, if it's really true to Islam, will be one gory mess.
The old Hollywood "spectaculars" used to feature a "cast of thousands"; this Iranian epic will feature a cast of tens of thousands, all killed in the making. Just confining itself to Iranian atrocities, and without looking into the crimes of other Islamic peoples, it will have enough material to make many movies. Likely highlights will include the beheadings and/or hangings of thousands of Iranian homosexuals, prostitutes, adultresses, Bahais, Christians, and apostates. The climax will be scenes from the clearing of the minefields by tens of thousands of children in the Iraq-Iran war.
Changing the topic slightly: I wonder if they will have any difficulty in getting the networks or theater chains to show this film. I'm guessing that the MSM will lap it up.

News stories from Iran's own press are scarier than anything that Fitna said. Islam is an ugly religion and if we can maintain freedom of speech in the West, our apathetic neighbors will eventually "get it".
One can not criticize Islam in Canada or in Europe without leftists dupes using the courts to silence the truth. Americans must resist the movement to allow Islam to spread without criticism of its sexism, supremacism, violent anti-gay, and of course rabid anti-Judaism.
Evil when kept in the light is eventually seen for what it is. Islam is not the truth or its clergy would not attempt to keep people from critical analysis of it.

It's not the first time Iran has put out a revisionist film to present the "real story," although I think in this version, Judas betrayed Jesus by recommending a terrible stylist:

It is amazing that when you look at Mohammad-ism it is very expensive very expensive. Not only that but it has taken away much of what we could use our minds to further creativity through arts, scientific research and technology away. Instead, here we are because of this crazed religion, fighting every possible means to counter it

My goodness. What a bunch of Islamophobes here.
I'm sure the movie will have those peaceful passages of the Koran that inspire men to goodness, interspersed with sermons from imams exhorting their followers to love their enemies and do good works for all people. Then there will be the obligatory shots of the Shia Relief Agency traveling the globe to help rebuild after a hurricane in Central America or an earthquake in Japan or a tornado in Kansas. And don't forget the pictures of the Shia Children's Fund, with their orphanages in Calcutta and Colombia, and the Shia Doctors for Humanity treating AIDS victims in Africa.

Don't you just love all these initiatives by Muslims to introduce us to the REAL islam? They may work with PC types who already are clueless and desperately trying to remain so, but the growing mass of people becoming aware of the true nature of Islam won't buy it.
And since Islamists will continue to kill people around the world in the name of their vile Prophet, these efforts will just look sillier and sillier. No matter what propaganda they and their useful idiots come up with, the reality of Islam will become known to more and more people.

This article was incomplete. I've filled in the missing parts below:
Earlier this year, Dutch filmmaker Geert Wilders produced Fitna, which claimed to have explored Quranic motivations for terrorism.
The film was condemned by many in the West [who haven't seen it], as well as in the Muslim world [who refuse to see it, and who also refuse to abandon the violence commanded in the Qur'an].
Al-Qa'ida even issued a religious decree against Wilders [thus proving that Wilders' claims were completely accurate, since they are a TERRORIST group issuing a RELIGIOUS decree of death], while the Dutch government was quick to distance itself from the film [because they're wussies].

This is Soft Sell vs Hard Sell.
The "Real Islam" (TM) will no doubt feature the obligatory doe eyed little girl in a bilbab, or a lovely arch from a lovely mosque over a deep blue sky. It's much harder to sell "The Religion of Peace" (TM), by advertising what happens to that little doe eyed girl, or what is plotted in that lovely mosque, as is done in Fitna. Its better for Islam to just show the doe eyed girl, and feature the pretty arch, and hope that stupid infidels will fall for the Soft Sell. Why not? It's worked like gangbusters so far.

The stonings of adulterers, the hanging of gays and the beating up of women who refuse to wear headscarves exposes the real Islam, alright.

So when are we going to mass together to protest the making of an Iranian film that offends Christiantiy?
Maybe hang Ahmanutjob and mohammad in effigy.
Oh wait, this isn't a cause that code pink and friends are willing to take up and the rest of us have jobs.
Never mind.
Any chance we could at least blow up a mosque in protest? No I guess not, us being law abiding citizens and all.

Not to be paranoid, but walt I'd be careful about what is said even is jest online, with the current forces in charge you may be considered the terror threat. They'd probably go after one of us just to show they don't profile.

We've been waiting 1400 years for to be "introduced" to the "real" Islam. Will the "Madhi" be coming down to introduce it himself or will Dukemadinejad do the honors?

The "real" islam?
I wonder if they will leave out 9/11, and honor killings, and the Mo-toon riots, and the kidnap and murder of school children in Beslan, and the murders of Nick Berg and Daniel Pearl, and...etc., etc., etc.
IMO, islam is neither a religion of "Peace" nor is it even a religion. It's more like a communicable case of mass insanity.

What is really interesting here is the fact that the political sect in the west with the most to loose is the left in the struggle for cultural dominance against invading Islamic ideology and influence in government and society. I think the left feels arrogant and invincible with recent social and political gains. It feels it has to be diametrically opposed to the vociferous defense of western civilization that is emanating from many conservative circles. Whose fight is this really? I sometimes feel stuffed in the middle of Islamic extremists on one end and leftists loonies on the other both trying their best to bring it all down. On the grand continuum of things the conservative right in the western world is the center, and the left has way more to loose than we on the right do, as we defend them and their social abominations, while defending ourselves from them. Lefties know in their arrogance that they will be defended by the right, but what if we fail? What if it is too much for us politically, and socially to fight on two fronts … what then the loons on the left think they can handle the fight? I’d like to see a gay and liberal multinational defense force invade Iran to right the wrongs and social injustices perpetrated on their sect. See if they have the “balls” to defend with life what they believe in.
