Iraq: three al-Qaeda-linked female suicide bombers found during recent raid

Phenomenon of female suicide bombers becoming more endemic to Iraq. "Iraq nets three women would-be bombers in anti-Qaeda sweep" from AFP August 6:

BAQUBA, Iraq (AFP) — Iraqi forces have arrested three women who were plotting suicide bombing missions against soldiers and police involved in a vast offensive against Al-Qaeda, officials said on Wednesday.

In all, Iraqi forces have netted 483 suspects since the start of the operation in the troubled central province of Diyala against Al-Qaeda and Shiite rebels which was launched in late July, an official said.

"Acting on information received, our forces uncovered three women in a house in Al-Saada who were preparing to carry out suicide attacks against our forces in the region," interior ministry spokesman General Abdel Karim Khalaf told AFP.[...]

The number of attacks carried out by women bombers has dramatically increased in 2008, many of them carried out in Baquba.

A woman believed to have been responsible for recruiting female suicide bombers was among four Al-Qaeda-linked suspects arrested in Diyala at the weekend, according to the Iraqi military.

In one of the deadliest recent attacks believed to be perpetrated by women, three suicide bombers believed to be women blew themselves up among Shiite pilgrims in Baghdad last month, killing at least 25 and wounding around 75.

"Acting on information received, our forces uncovered three women...

See? "Covering" does not keep women out of trouble!

I can see the PR now. "See, we don't repress women, we let them strap on bombs just like men."

Again, we see, female Muslims desiring Shahada. Uh oh, Robert Pape is going to lobby for more money from his congressional reps (from Chicago) for mo' money to do "more research" on the phenomenon. Then, blame ALL the Shahids on western {read as U.S.} "occupation" of Iraq etc. I mean, after all he equivocates terrorism as "military campaigns" against "occupiers." Recently, the NY Times published an OpEd on women and bombings (Aug.02, 2008). The probable feminist author-because I suspect she has studied "Women's Studies due to her slant-blames most incidents on the West. The tripe from this OpEd is disgusting. She says females bomb because they have a deep sense of their "community," "nationalism," etc.
Which "community" does she speak of? The corner drug store and neighborhood? Or is it the Islamic "community"? Is that a Suni community, or Shiite? The Hero Martyr community, or Oppressed martyr side of the street?Which country do they speak of? Dar al Islam? Or a pluralisticly equal and secular Iraq?
Farhana Ali has similar angles to that of the NY Times. If it is "despair," "anger," and "sense of duty," then why aren't the Christians in the Sudan detonating themselves for Jesus? Serbian Christians against KLA? Oh, and how about the Tibetans against the Chicoms??? I mean, name ONE SINGLE non-Muslim, who donated themselves to the cause, whom solely and puritanicaly justified their donations on cited scriptures/verses of the Torah, Bible, or any other "holy" book other than the Qur'an??
Save all the "Black Widow" tripe, the "Olive Daughter" baloney, and yes the LTTE B.S. LTTE AND AQ have shared info, the FARC is learning. I mean, if it is despair and poverty, why isn't it occuring ANYWHERE else? PKK you say? Forgetaboutit. Islam and so called communism is so similar it sickens me. al-Aqsa you say? Forgetaboutit. Aqsa uses Muslim text for coercion.
...and it's coming to a western town near you soon...not just in merry ol' England.
...and even Benny Hill (RIP) was taken off of BBC America too...WTF? Sheesh.

............................

Well, this pretty much gives the lie to the idea that women only target US and Israeli troops, out of despair and grief over the killings of their husbands and sons--how many times have we heard that?

Here are (presumably Sunni) women blowing up Shi'ite *pilgrims*. More Takfir and sectarian insanity.

Nuggler, good post on the NYT piece on female suicide bombers--I was pretty disgusted by it, too. Blaming these attacks on the West is absurd, but very common.

Righto!
Oops, forgot the Mother and son (13y/o) caught behind a Afghan provincial Governors home...while strapping on their "holy" vests.
Another thing, only eleven bombings involved a fem fatale in 2007. 27 from 01JAN08-31JUL08; almost a 250% increase over ALL of 2007. Ditch the Abaya honey, and adopt the "Nothing comes between me and my Calvins."

...and the screwballs have developed "suicide-undergarments" according to a Pakistani article (old news in the intel community). One could fit a whole lot of HE in various cup sizes.

l wonder if these women were caught in a bad situation, ie talking to a unrelated male, etc. so rather than have their family kill them, they can request suicide bomb to get a good afterlife and let their family retain their honour back. l read in Turkey that new laws go after family member who do honour killings, so now the family get their women to kill themselves. so not that difficult to understand when you understand the mindset of this sick twisted death cult.
