Nigeria: Muslim mob kills 50-year-old man for "blasphemy"

Apparently what this poor man said about Muhammad is too terrible to repeat, but in any case, here is a story about the far end of Sharia accommodation -- this is the kind of thing to which it ultimately leads, unless a line is drawn somewhere.

What's that? It's unthinkable that Sharia blasphemy laws could ever come to the United States, or that sufficient numbers of Muslims in America would ever try to enforce those laws themselves? All right. But doesn't special accommodation given to Muslim practices award a special status to Sharia, and isn't Sharia as much about the death penalty for blasphemy as it is about washing your feet before prayers? How will the line be automatically drawn, if no one is willing to draw it?

"Nigeria: Mob Kills 50-Year-Old Man for 'Blasphemy,'" by Yusha'u A. Ibrahim in the Daily Trust (Abuja) via AllAfrica.com, August 11 (thanks to James):

A 50-year-old Muslim man, who allegedly made a blasphemous statement against Prophet Muhammad, was beaten to death in Kano on Saturday.

The man was killed at Sheka Aci Lafiya quarters when some angry Muslim youths besieged his house and beat him to a state of coma.

He died shortly after a team of police and Hisbah officials rescued him from the mob, the police said. The man died as he was being rushed to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.

Witnesses told Daily Trust that the man, though a Muslim, made a statement residents considered as blasphemous against the Holy Prophet after his relatives denied him his share of the estate left by their deceased father.

He was beaten and left unconscious before the police intervened and dispersed the crowd.

But for the quick intervention of the police and Hisbah officials, a full-scale crisis would have erupted, residents said.

A witness said, "Many youths carrying various types of dangerous weapons have started grouping themselves for further action over the issue before the police and Hisbah men dispersed them."

He said the victim made the alleged blasphemous statement Friday night and repeated same on Saturday morning.

When the news spread to the neighborhood about the man's statement, a group of youths mobilized and attacked him.

A witness, Ali Muhammad, told our correspondent that the man was beaten with sticks and other local weapons and was left "in the pool of his own blood."...

Islam is peace.

Plus, I am sure being beaten to death only hurts for a little while.

Islam is peace. Vote Obama.

"But for the quick intervention of the police and Hisbah officials, a full-scale crisis would have erupted, residents said."

Yes indeed. Crisis averted. Had it not been for the timely intervention of the authorities the dead man could easily have suffered a fate worse than death.

Phew! Lucky escape.

"He was beaten and left unconscious before the police intervened and dispersed the crowd."

But no arrests, you notice. I hope that, in "dispersing" the crowd, the coppers at least knocked a few heads.

okay. So there is no way to know what the man actually said? Which means for all we know he was murdered just because he left a bathroom using the wrong foot. But since this was really an argument over money, hmmmmm.....methinks Agatha Christie wrote a mystery novel about this: "Murder on the Nigerian Express."

Sharia law is already imposed by Random House.

Well - whatever "blasphemous" statement this poor guy made regarding Muhammad was undoubtedly the Truth! You don't dare speak the Truth about ole Muhammad, because you won't live to speak it another day, not after the muslim-mobs get through with you. Psycho-murdering losers!

Muhammad secretly ate pork ...

lol pulsar!!!

That would make a good sticker for the upcoming "why islam" ad campaign ;o)

Hmmmm.....too blasphemous to repeat. Well, that makes killing people justifiable doesn't it then. As if they need a reason to do what they do best...

What could one say about a plagiarizing, terrorizing, murderous, deceiving, thieving pedophile warlord that might get you into trouble with his brainwashed, homicidal, psychopathic minions?

Hmmmm?

Seems to me that if a Muslim wants to get rid of another Muslim all they have to do is to accuse the target of 'blasphemy' and do it loudly enough.

Voila! Problem solved.

Same deal with women: if you feel like killing a woman, accuse her of an infraction of the Rules for Women (insufficiently Islamic dress, flirting, etc.). and presto! - you can kill her.

And if you feel like a bit of rape, robbery and mass murder with sadistic torturings thrown in for extra fun, just accuse the local non-Muslims of breaking the 'dhimma' and away you go.

Islam and Sharia = license to kill, for every psychopath, sociopath, narcissist and sadist who happens to be born into the Islamosphere. (Oh, and it's a license to indulge, for pedophiles, too).

And as we have seen in Malaysia: if a prominent non-Muslim has a juicy piece of property, all the Muslims have to do is swear black and blue in the sharia court that deceased 'converted' to Islam on their deathbed (or was a secret convert sometime before that) and voila! deceased's entire estate transfers from the non-Muslim family members (who of course don't deserve to inherit anything) to any fine upstanding family member who has become a Muslim...or, if there are no 'converts' in the family, to the Muslim Community Coffers.

Islam has thought of quite a few wrinkles...even the Mafia and the Triads must be envious.

Small correction to the above. The penultimate paragraph should begin: "And as we have seen in Malaysia: if a prominent non-Muslim dies leaving a juicy piece of property...".

After all

"Under Sharia, those who insult Muhammad or Allah are to be put to death. So are those who desecrate the Qur'an, or commit other acts of blasphemy. This tradition began with Muhammad, as recorded in the Hadith and by his biographers. There is also a Qur'anic basis for it. "

Don't let anyone tell you that Islam is compatible with Western democracies.

IMO Islam should be banned in the USA. What about our freedom of religion First Amendment? It clearly should not apply to ideologies that would do away with the same First Amendment (indeed the entire Constitution) - this is logical even if we need a constitutional amendment to make this clear.

you know the saying that "it tastes just like chicken"? well that is what muhammud's wives told him when they fed him pork. wonder if you said that to a pious muslim would they riot over that?

Posted by: ZenaWarriorPrincess [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 13, 2008 8:42 PM

FM,
Agreed. If Islam is incompatible with Western democracies it still remains unclear how Muslims can live in Western democracies. Even Muslims in name only still follow Islam. They haven't renounced it. If they did, they wouldn't be Muslims.

FM and PMK

I second the motion. I have always wondered this, and am still looking as to why. It's so simple. I sometimes wonder why I (and you all here) get it but others don't.

Hmm. I wonder what the poor man said about the profligate mohammad (piss be upon him).

Perhaps it was "mohammad damn it!"

Too bad the non-existent Allah, and the dead Muhammed continue to be "insulted". You'd think with all the...goodies...in Paradise, they'd be happy and completely oblivious to what is said about them on earth.

My great grandmother is dead, too, and I have yet to hear a peep from her about what the rest of the family says about her.

Muslim Spokesman: "He offended Allah!" How does Muslim Spokesman know this to be true? Is Allah talking to him? Not possible. If that were the case, Muslim Spokesman would be a prophet, and Muhammed was allegedly the last of these.

As for Muhammed, again--Isn't he beyond insult? My deceased friends and relative are.

I guess being in Paradise doesn't protect you from feeling insulted.

In my opinion, that makes Muslim Paradise inferior to any and all afterlives that might or might not exist.

"How will the line be automatically drawn, if no one is willing to draw it?"

I and my family draw it every day Robert, but only within the spheres of our individual influence. Maybe that's your point? From my family, to my friends, to my elected officials, I continually provide reminders that our Constitutional rights are truly special and must remain universal and absolute. Sometimes folks don't like the thoughts I present, but ain't the first amendment grand? (And isn't that the point?) My children have learned to do likewise and they do not self-censor, or otherwise acquiesce their freedoms when they choose to remain silent. We all remain a constant voice to our local and national representatives on matters relating to the jihad threats of violence, intimidation and the institution of shari'a (along with other politically-motivated legislative threats to our freedoms, eg, "Fairness Doctrine"). We very rarely shy from germane discussions, even when friends, acquaintances or strangers viscerally and ignorantly object to the "insensitivity" or "bigotry" of our logical positions. It takes a toll, but it's well worth it when another American reclaims his rights from the prison of political correctness. One at a time, baby, one at a time....

It seems obvious we can get the line drawn if we collectively inspire vigilance in our families and friends to exercise their rights while demanding their protection and perpetuation. You are a perfect example of this, Robert...thank you for your tireless efforts.

Boring post, but the method works for me. I need to go wash my hands for having typed "collectively" now...
