"Akeem Ramsel El" appears at very least to be a Nation of Islam member -- and by the signoff of his letter, it also appears that he had jihad on his mind when he wrote to McCain.
"Exclusive: Man Who Wrote McCain Letter Explains Actions," from The Denver Channel (ABC7News), August 22 (thanks to Paul):
LITTLETON, Colo. -- The man accused of sending a threatening letter to John McCain through McCain's Colorado headquarters office detailed the contents of his letter in an exclusive interview with 7NEWS Friday.Marc Ramsey, an inmate in the Arapahoe County Jail, admitted that he sent the letter.
On Friday afternoon, the US Attorney Troy Eid announced Ramsey will be charged with knowingly threatening to harm or kill through the U.S. mail. The charge is punishable up to five years in federal prison and up to $250,000 fines.
[...]
Ramsey said he didn't put white powder in the envelope. When asked, the only white powder he could think of that is available to inmates is baby powder.
His exact letter read:
Senator McCain,
IF you are reading this then you are already Dead!
Unless of course you can't or don't breathe.
There are numerous substances which are deadly for humans to inhale.
There are just as many time periods for signs of illness to show, by which time it's to late.
Who expects to develop cancer 40 years after Vietnam?
Only those that knew the risk and side effects of Agent Orange.
DoD, DOW, Diamond Shamrock, U.S. Surgeon General
You're out of time.
Allahu AkbarAkeem Ramsel El
Ramsey said he is a terrorist sympathizer....

Did they actually find an al-qaeda membership card in his cell? Probably nothing to do with terrorism or religion. Give the guy some chemicals and lets see if he can make a bomb. If he manages to blow himself up in the process then yes ok, he probably was a terrorist. Haha.

If it did work, would that make Romney or Huckabee the default nominee?

A believer can say anything to a filthy kufir! So where's the beef? Or pork, for that matter.

Does the Arapahoe County jail not censor the inmate mail? I thought that was standard procedure.

According to Debbie Schlussel, Eid is : an Arab whose family emigrated from Egypt.
Per The Arab American News.com
U.S. Attorney Troy Eid of Colorado was the special guest at the BRIDGES meeting on Wednesday, July 18,[2007] at the Lebanese American Heritage Club (LAHC) in Dearborn. He told stories about his family's struggles as immigrants to the U.S. in 1957, and the obstacles he faced as a young man as the only Arab American at an all-white school. ADC Michigan Regional Director and Co-Chair of BRIDGES, Imad Hamad, recognized the importance of Eid's presence at the meeting.Posted by: heroyalwhyness

Ah, what a touching note coming from The Religion of Peace (NOT!).
Muhammad (blood be upon him) must be very proud of this soulless cult follower. Good Mohamadman!
God speed, McCain, we are praying for your safety.

Great. So, there's a U.S. Attorney who is a Mohammedan: Troy Eid.
Great. Just great.
Well, "Akeem Ramsel El", an Islamic Terrorist, will get off.

The phrase "Allahu akbar" certainly has many uses, doesn't it? Wikipedia describes it's "usage" this way:
"This phrase is recited by Muslims in numerous different situations. For example, when they are happy or wish to express approval, when an animal is slaughtered in a halaal fashion, when they want to praise a speaker, during battles, and even times of extreme stress or euphoria."
"The phrase is said during each stage of both obligatory prayers, which are supposed to be performed five times a day, and supererogatory prayers, which are performed at will. The Muslim call to prayer, or adhan, and to commence the prayer, or iqama, also contains the phrase, which is heard in cities all over the Muslim world."
"Note that takbīr (تَكْبِير) is only the name of the expression, while the phrase itself is "Allahu Akbar". In the Islamic world, instead of applause, often someone will shout "takbir" and the crowd will respond "Allahu Akbar" in chorus."
Looks like Wikipedia needs to expand it's "usage" by stating that this phrase may also be used in a death threat letter. Boy, it's uses are endless!
Islam, the religion of peace loving thugs, terrorists and murderers, but at least they are "peaceful and loving" about it / sarc off.

Too late, champ. The blood of thousands, if not millions, of innocents is already on his worm-ridden hands, and the hands of his followers.

Hi, Lori B! I know, isn't it pathetic how anyone in their right mind would follow after Muhammad and his standards for 'holiness'. Sick, really!

He should be stripped of his legal credentials and thrown in with that other Muslim rat "Akeem Ramsel El"!

I think that some of the posters here are making the mistake of assuming that all Arabs are Muslims. The followers of Mohammed might wish this to be the case, but it is _not_ true, especially for Arab-Americans, 2/3rds of whom are Christians.
Troy Eid's wife name is Allison and his children are named Alex and Emily -- not exactly typical names for a family of practicing Muslims.

Vienna, you are right.
So, I did some research on Mr. Eid. Here's an article from 2007 in which he's "working to build Muslim trust." Have a look.
http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/local/article/0,1299,DRMN_15_5545248,00.html
However, all of the articles mention only that he's Arab-American. Nothing about his religion. So, I decided to e-mail the reporter at the Denver Post and ask him if he knew the religion of Mr. Eid. I'll let you know if this reporter replies. If he doesn't, I think we can safely assume that Eid is Mohammedan.
What do you think?
