Afghanistan: Taliban suicide bomber disguised as beggar kills 21

Perhaps he was a true beggar, motivated by the following hadith that has long convinced those who have little here in the now to "martyr" themselves for a more glorious hereafter? "Abu Bakr said that Muhammad declared that 'The gates of paradise lay under the shadow of the swords.' So a poverty-stricken, haggard-looking man arose and said, 'Did you really hear the Messenger of Allah say that?' Bakr said 'Yes.' So the man went back to his friends and bid them farewell. Then he broke the scabbard off his sword and flung it away. He then proceeded to walk with his sword to the enemy's [infidels'] camp. He slashed away till slain." Al-Qaeda's Second, Ayman Zawahiri often quotes this hadith (see The Al Qaeda Reader, 152).

"'Beggar' suicide blast, other attacks kill 21 in Afghanistan," from AFP, September 7:

HERAT, Afghanistan (AFP) — A Taliban suicide bomber dressed as a beggar blew up an Afghan government building Saturday, killing six people, as two NATO soldiers and a dozen other people died in more unrest, officials said.

The disguised bomber gunned down a security guard and then detonated explosives at the government offices, with two state prosecutors among his victims, Nimroz provincial governor Ghulam Dastgir Azad said.

The blast brought down the single-storey building in the town of Zaranj on the southwestern border with Iran, the governor told AFP.

"We have recovered so far six bodies," he said. The dead were provincial attorney Anwar Shah Khan, his 20-year-old son, his deputy and three civilians, Azad said.

"The whole building has collapsed. There might be more casualties," he added.

A spokesman for the rebel Taliban movement said the bomber was a member of the militia, which has dramatically stepped up attacks this year.

I wonder how many Islamic suicides there would be if there was no promise of paradise?

Entrance into Paradise and access to the fab 72, by means of slaughtering people, is one of the most selfish acts possible. The grossest of gross materialism...human sacrifice for personal gain.
Only evil demands murder for entrance to its inner sanctums.

'So a poverty-stricken, haggard-looking man arose'...

Islam has lots of those. The longer one has been a muslim, the more haggard he looks. When you see these guys on video, or even photos rate their haggard level...1-10. This is what Islam does to submitters...

Poverty as a cause of jihad, has been looked at and pretty much discounted. But I don't think anyone has done a study on 'Islamic haggard'.

Not all Islamic suicidals are poor, but they are all haggard...and gullible.

Only a haggard and gullible person, would believe that murder can get you free sex for eternity.
Or that God really likes blood and guts...

Islam is not a religion, it is 'The Cult of Haggard'. You don't have to be haggard to be a muslim, but it really helps...Allah willing...and he always is...

I can almost hear the leftist 'Poverty causes terrorism' bandwagon rolling again.

"... Then he broke the scabbard off his sword and flung it away. He then proceeded to walk with his sword to the enemy's [infidels'] camp. He slashed away till slain." Al-Qaeda's Second, Ayman Zawahiri often quotes this hadith."

But no suicide bomber is following this hadith. He is not making his intentions known as he walks into the marketplace. He is not brandishing his sword, or even a gun. He doesn't show the bomb to those around him, as he would have to brandish the sword.
He is an impostor. He presents himself as a friend, giving no indication of his intent. He then kills himself, hoping to take others with him. There have been several such would-be martyrs who killed no one BUT themselves.

Zawahiri may quote from this hadith but who is hearing it? They're certainly not following it.

Suicide bombers...must be something in the water.

"A Taliban suicide bomber dressed as a beggar...

How do they dress differently than others? Is there some special article that declares their status as a beggar, like socks with holes for gloves and a cardboard sign? Sounds facetious but this is a serious inquiry.

Isn't jizya just another form of begging?

Is not this approach an affront to the third pillar of Islam, Zakah (welfare contribution)? While he might be hoping to find reward in 72 virgins (of which is not in the Quran OR hadith, only in a 14th centruy commentary) he took advantage of their willingness to give charity to those in need. Would this not cancel any such reward?

From above: While he might be hoping to find reward in 72 virgins (of which is not in the Quran OR hadith, only in a 14th centruy commentary)

Who commented on it for the first time and why?
And what was the 14th century commentary based on?

How could the commentator comment on something that did not exist until he commented on it?

Do you mean that the promise of celestial virgins is a fraud, made up, and commented on in the 14th century?

I would agree it is a fraud and made up, but I think the dates may be a little off.

But be that as it may, a fraud is a fraud, and a lie is a lie...Thanks for sharing that...

duh_swami,
I'm sorry if I was not completely specific regarding this issue. Here are a few links (one being wikipedia, so use with caution) to shed a bit of light.

(towards the middle, the question "How Many Wives Will The Believers Have In Paradise?". All those quoted are historians/theologians from various dates

Like I said, with only slight variation, months ago...

It's just a matter of time before they go BOOM here.

When I was in Afghanistan in 1969 they all looked like beggars. Even the policemen in front of the Khaybar Hotel were begging for money and cigarettes...

Hunter pro...I never go to wickedpedia...

I am confused, you mean there really are no 72 virgins an Allahs paradise? That this subject has been often discussed, by scholars with no definitive answers, so no one really knows how many virgins are in Heaven? Is that it?

I'm disappointed, depressed even, I have been trying to figure out a back door way to get to Paradise without dying as a jihadi.

I guess I will give that up now.

I bet I'm not as disappointed as all those dead jihadi's who arrive and find 72 empty beds in the Houri dorm. They got defrauded and there is no refunds...or return tickets...

Posted by: duh_swami [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 7, 2008 9:06 PM

It's true. Never go to wickedpedia. I went there the other day just to find out the name of the daughters in 'Everyday Use' by Alice Walker, which is a short story whhich was intended as a critique if the influence of Islam on the black power movement and how it has always eradicated cultures and is therefore only suitable for the elitist Michelle Obamas who hate their roots anyway. Did you know that 'Asallamallaykum' is an African greeting? It is according to wickedpedia. Then there's this article about the abject lies they print and how they don't let people correct them. CAMERA has entire pages about the lies they perpetrate about the 'Palestinians' and the Joooooos. Wickedpedia is evil's bitch, along with Google.

But the whole point of my post was initially going to be about how it's wrong that we of all people still call it 'suicide bombing.' It's freaking homicide bombing. If the intent and the result weren't killing other people it would be suicide bombing. It's homicide bombing. Get it right, peoples.

Posted by: jdamn [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 8, 2008 11:37 AM

"It's homicide bombing."

jdamn,

I agree. In fact I prefer the term, "mass murder". Mentioning a bomb gives the murderer a kind of glamor, which he doesn't deserve, no matter what his method of murder.

Of course, suicide doesn't go down well with Allah, so maybe the term is worth keeping, if only to damn the murderer.

Posted by: Abscedere [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 9, 2008 9:46 AM

Here's something I wonder about.

When a mass-murderer-for-Allah walks into his target zone, is he not bringing the "cause of Allah" with him?

If he is, then are not his victims being slain in the "cause of Allah"?

If they are being slain in the "cause of Allah", then do they not also gain automatic entry into Paradise?

Wouldn't such a notion really piss the imbeciles (the murderers) off?
