What's the big deal? Let Muslims have their break times when they want! It doesn't mean Sharia is coming to the U.S.!
Of course. But what it does mean is this: rising tensions and resentment from non-Muslims who have to take up the slack for the Muslims. And since Sharia allows for absolutely no compromise, that means that American businesses are going to have to choose between making Muslim employees a privileged class, and alienating their non-Muslim employees, or allowing no Sharia accommodation at all.
My money, given today's political climate, is on the former -- despite the article below. I expect that Swift will ultimately cave to Muslim demands.
A stealth jihad update on this story: "JBS Swift Musilm [sic] workers protest Ramadan reversal," by Chris Casey for the Greeley Tribune, September 9 (thanks to John):
More than 150 Muslim workers didn't report to their meatpacking plant jobs Monday in the wake of what they called JBS Swift & Co.'s sudden reversal of accommodation for their religious fasting during Ramadan.The workers initially planned a two-mile march from downtown Greeley's Lincoln Park to the plant, but a gathering that formed mid-morning never left the park. Throughout the day, several Greeley police officers watched from the park's edge.
Company officials met with several workers Monday afternoon at the plant, and Somali representatives later spoke with workers in downtown Greeley.
Graen Isse, a Swift worker and group spokesman, said the workers would not discuss details of their grievances, which were supplied to Swift in writing, until the company responded. He said he expected to hear from Swift Tuesday morning.
"I believe (the workers) will be back to their jobs," Isse said.
Asked what would happen if the workers didn't get what they wanted, Isse said, "That's another question. We'll pass on that."
The workers, mostly Somalis but many also from several other East African nations, said they were told by Swift management on Friday to not report to work Monday until the matter of changing break times to accommodate their Ramadan fasts was settled.
On Friday, about 300 Muslim workers left work mid-shift -- about 9:30 p.m. -- when they say they were told not to break at 7:30 p.m., when their roughly 12 hours of daily fasting for Ramadan ended. Earlier in the week, the workers negotiated with Swift to get an earlier break to allow them food and water after their fast.

Omar Clarke, who described himself as "a white-and-black" Muslim but not Somali, said workers at 7:30 p.m. Friday were told not to leave their work lines. He said the company then locked bathrooms to stop workers from going to them.
"At 7:30 Friday they did not accommodate us on our religious beliefs," he said. "After they told us we couldn't pray, we all walked out."

Smid read a company statement late Monday afternoon: "Friday evening, a group of employees left work without proper authorization. The matter was discussed with their union representatives and the company took appropriate action. JBS Swift desires to accommodate the religious practices of all employees, which includes its Muslim employees, provided it can do so reasonably, safely and without undue burden.
"JBS Swift works closely with its employees and their union representatives to accomplish this balance of reasonable accommodation and operational requirements," the statement concluded.
Smid said she could not elaborate on the size of the group that left work and what the company's "appropriate action" might entail.

Friday afternoon, about 150 non-Muslim Swift workers protested the company's break-time accommodation of the Muslims. They said that the change was unfair to workers of other religious beliefs who don't receive similar concessions.
Brianna Castillo, a non-Muslim JBS Swift worker told the Tribune Friday, "The Somalis are running our plant. They are telling us what do to."
Aziz Dhies, who doesn't work at Swift but said he is a local representative of the Somali community, said the Somalis are peacefully trying to get what they consider a rightful concession to their religious beliefs.
"We are very peaceful people. We don't hate anybody," he said. "We love everybody here." [...]

Joe Rios, a day-shifter for nine months at Swift, said he felt the Somalis were asking for special treatment and "taking advantage of our kindness" in America. He said "most of us" at Swift are Catholic and observe a month of Lent each year without seeking work concessions based on religion."I think it's either you want to make money and work and put your prayers aside or you stay home," he said.
Rios said he'd heard that some disgruntled Muslim workers damaged property in the Swift parking lot Friday.
Tymkowych said police, who responded to the release of workers Friday night, didn't encounter any vandalism. "If it happened inside (the plant), they didn't tell us about it," he said.
That is contrary to a report I received.

Thanks for the heads up on Swift. I prefer not to consume canned or potted meat packed by Swift's Somalian work force. The thought of doing so skeves me out.

Today, a strike over company policy via Ramadan. A decade from now, urban riots ala France over the issue de jour.

What should Swift do if the Somalis don't return to work sans a Ramadan accommodation?
FIRE THEM!
The precedent was set by Ronald Reagan with the Air Traffic Controllers.
As we have seen from the many illegal immigration raids on plants such as Swift: once people know there are jobs available they will be filled. If Swift puts out the word that it will not tolerate such action by its employees, it will be rewarded. If it gives in to political correctness, that will be "rewarded" as well.

Actually, Robert, I don't think the prevailing sentiment of American businesses is going to be the acid test on this. Knowing how litigious those pushing the stealth jihad are, the courts will eventually have the last word ... let's pray the US courts can see through the jihadi smoke, and come down on the "no special privileges" theme that all the other truly peaceful religions operate under in this country.

Ramadan is the big issue. It is where the line must be drawn. During one month of the year Muslims are irritable, demanding (more than usual) and very unproductive. Fasting doctors and medical workers are particularly dangerous - I know this from first hand experience. Other workers are expected to coddle Muslims and pick up their slack. Management must make special provisions arranging schedules. To top it all they get zealous and full of hate towards non-Muslims. Ramadan does NOT inspire charitable feelings.

I've a devote Christian and I won't work on Sunday. This means I can't work in a number of industries like hospitality, sports, etc. I might ask for it, but I don't expect accommodation. I don't have a right to be accommodated in this way, unless I am hired with the understanding that I get Sundays off and the employer changes the contractual relationship after the fact.
If you can't do a job because of your religion, don't do the job. If the Somalians want a Sharia meat packing plant, then get some venture capital and start their own. In the West they have this freedom.
Don't give in this this stuff ... get video of Islamic aggression and post it to the web. People need to understand that Islam is a supremacist religion with little real respect for anyone or anything else.

Most of the Somalis arrived in this country seeking refuge from the poverty and political unrest in their home country. Nearly all of them are Muslim. An argument can be made that they were fleeing from a nest made by their jihad culture. We took them in, naively thinking that they would be forever grateful, would see the superiority of our culture, and would learn to become good U.S. citizens.
This is like the story of the person who found a snake outside in the cold frosty weather, brought it in, warmed it by the fire, and then was surprised when it came to life and bit him.

Those pious fasting-at-Lent-without-making-a-fuss Catholic Latino and Latina workers interviewed in the article are sounding REALLY really cranky, like they've about had enough. Indeed, it sounds like they 'get' what is going on much better than the management of the company or anybody else. They've been on the coalface. Quite possibly they've sensed the contempt, the 'smile at some people while our hearts hate them' false friendship, the overweening Muslim supremacism, and all their alarm bells are jangling at them. Who knows how much open or covert bullying they and their families been copping, on and off the workplace, from Muslims?
All they need is information and I'd say the reconquista will begin.
I suggest that our Greeley contact find a way of getting into the hands of angry Joe Rios and Brianna Castillo and the others, the following: Inside Islam: A Guide for Catholics (Mr Spencer's very first book); Islam Unveiled (I am informed, from reports in this comments field years ago, that that one was *very* popular among US enlisted men and officers in Afghanistan and Iraq - 'flying off the shelves' was, I think, the phrase that was used); Onward Muslim Soldiers; and 'PIG to Islam and the Crusades' (there is a Spanish translation of this one; better get two or three copies of the Spanish version as well as the English and give it to those angry Spanish-American workers at Swift).
Pre-order a copy of 'Stealth Jihad' so the moment it comes off the press it can be passed to where it will do most good.
DVDs of 'Fitna' (Spanish subtitled version), and "Islam: What the West Needs to Know" might also be set circulating through the Hispanic community.

How are their religious beliefs violated? Ramadan does not force them to eat at sundown, when I last looked up Ramadan. They are free to fast longer. It is not like they are being expected to eat during their fasting period. Maybe they should hav eappled for the midnight or day shift instead of swing.
I sent Swift an email but have gotten no response, but I have to caution folks not to buy Swift products, because if I was a Muslim out to harm the infidels, what better way than to poison pork products, which would not be consumed by devout Muslims and thus none would get hurt. After reading about this situation and the Tyson plant in Tennessee, my desire of moving to either there or Colorado has diminished greatly.

It is not enough even if they fire them all. I won't be satisfied until every worker who destroyed proerty is charged with vandalism and destruction of property, and the people who injured that woman are charged with a hate crime.

It is beyond me how people eat dead, cut-up animals anyway, but that's beside the point. The point is that Swift is ridiculously idiotic in appeasing the wrong people. Unskilled workers are a dime a dozen. Mexicans are hard-working, basically honest people who will never make crazy demands or cause unrest. Swift knows this because that's how their Mexican employess were even when Swift wasn't even paying them minimum wage. You would think they would be appeasing the consumer, who is not Muslim. They slaughter pigs in their factory, and they don't slaughter animals in the most inhumane possible way, which conflicts with the endless proscriptions of their bloodlustful, Dark-Age, Nazi death-cult. The consumer should be appeased. And we will not be appeased until charges are pressed. I'm usually the first one to tackle someone who cries 'racism' whenever Muslims don't get their way, but I really think this is a case of extreme racism and not just spineless dhimmitude. A woman was injured. Property was destroyed. They did not peacefully walk off the job or protest like civilized human beings. They reacted like caged, inbred pitbulls.

Below is my statement of the Islamic threat in brief. Make up your own; send it to every commissioner, sheriff, senator, judge, newspaper, radio station, local TV new desk, post on the street. If the lame stream media won't carry news, real news of consequence to Americans, let's broadcast it.
"To all elected officials, I implore you to recognize the threat of Islam and accept the responsibility to protect and defend this country, our Constitution and the freedoms it guarantees.
Islam is not a religion; it is a religious-political-judicial ideology as defined by the quran, hadith and sira as implemented under shari’a law. Islam replaces or subjugates anything non-Islamic. Wherever Islam grows, a state within a state develops and the existing government and unbelieving (kafir) culture is rejected. Again, an Islamic minority faction grows until it can conquer, by political or violent means, the established government.
The seed of this modern insurrection begins with a demand for deferential treatment of Islam, including insistence on religious accommodations, judicial separateness, and general cultural and educational non-integration. In addition, imagined affronts to Islam are claimed and redress demanded. Islam is oppressive, anti-women and discriminatory in practice, it restricts freedom of thought and action and thereby violates human rights. Muslim-Muslim relations are completely separate from Muslim-kafir relations, where deceit is common. Islam is incompatible with our values and sensibilities of freedom and secularism.
No matter the temperament of individual Muslims, the Islamic community as a whole drives the process of Islamization in every country where Islam thrives. There is no room to list the violent acts of Muslims against non-Muslims in the name of Islam. On my list:
No more VISAs to Muslims.
Deportation for any violation of US law.
Inspection of any non-government school, without warning. What is their curriculum? Can the children pass state grade appropriate tests?
Terminate middle eastern funding of University departments.
No oversees contributions to elected officials. ZERO Tolerance.
Shut down CAIR, MSA.
If any organization supports imposition of Sharia law - shut them down. Sharia is not just un-American, it is ANTI-American. Sharia = Insurrection.
Remove any religious status for Islam, as it is NOT a religion, it is a totalitarian ideology.
Request law enforcement post details of arrests, sufficient that citizens (if not the media) can determine if they are "Sudden Jihad Syndrome."

Were they too weak to walk two miles, or too lazy? Probably the latter. It was much easier to sit there and let the negotiators arbitrate their groundless grievances while commiserating their noble sacrifice of the midday meal. They should take diet pills during ramadam so they would have plenty of energy with no painful hunger pangs.
How does this asinine ritual improve a muslim's character? They spend no time contemplating or striving for self-improvement because they're too busy trying to foist their medieval travesty of a religion on everyone else. They whine and carry on like a bunch of babies. They are disgusting creatures and I can't imagine why anyone would hire them. They couldn't possibly be worth the trouble and disruptions they cause.

How about sanctuary cities providing safe haven for Americans who support the US Constitution? Exclude residence to those who threaten us? I don’t wish to trample valid rights. However our way of life is being threatened from outside and within our borders; we are in a time of “public danger” and much deceit.
Islam, through sharia and tradition, denies equal rights, disallows religious freedom and repudiates a host of other values we hold dear. Reject Imams who preach against us, organizations who seek to pervert our justice system, and individuals bent on violent personal jihad.
As we do not know who exactly the enemy is, we can identify likely enemies on the basis of membership in the organization (the ideology of Islam) most associated with the threat. Whether “moderate” Muslims are wrongfully categorized is of little consequence to me. That can be worked out later, right now we are under assault from a determined and shrewd enemy with stated goals to infiltrate and destroy our Country, Constitution and Culture. They are using our traditionally tolerant customs to undermine the fabric of our lives.
Can we exclude or jail people based on what is in their hearts? I don’t know, but if people expressly state their hatred with intent to act upon that hatred, incite others to hate and to take up arms (guns, bombs, hammers, poison, fire, SUVs) against us, aren’t we right to defend ourselves.

The snake doesnt have a brain as humans, these pigheads have a brain which has been brain-washed and refuse to use it. If swift wants to work without disruption throwout the muslim pigheads and get the non-muslims on the production line. In case they bow to these pigheads then people please do boycott the products of swift. These are ungrateful people who were given refuge in America,they are worse than snakes. I just sent the reporter (Chris Casey) and the editor (Randy Bangert) an e-mail urging them to educate themselves on Islam and the 4 Stages of Islamic Conquest. I hope it is thought provoking for them. Perhaps rather than bias to the right or left, the media will be eager to be the first on the block to "get it" and understand AND REPORT the multiple threats of Islam.

The solution is simple - don't buy any food processed or handled in anyway by Muslims. It is a known fact that they will contaminate food products (ie ready made sandwiches and Indian food restaurants in the UK) whenever and wherever they can.
It would be interesting to find out what checks are made by Swift into their Somalian employees' personal hygiene and whether they are searched for contaminants and have quality control on their production lines.

No more meat for me from Swift--as with Tyson. A local grocer chain here has its own packaging of meats and many other products, so I'll stick with them.
As for the workers, probably the best thing for them is to find themselves unemployed.

The picture of the "workers" is horrifying. It could have been taken in some Third World islamic hellhole.
If the employees dress like that at work, they are walking bacteria factories.

ewwwwww gross! I just looked at the photo. Apparently they didn't go outside to pray - they went outside to wipe their noses (see the woman in front in black)on their robes. I can't believe they're allowed to dress like that in a food plant.

Muslims are liars when they talk about fasting for Ramadan - they don't, they do just the opposite, they eat like PIGS. What they do is they switch the eating schedules, instead of eating between sunrise and sunset they eat between sunset and sunrise and this is when they do eat like PIGS - all they do is eat, eat and eat just like PIGS do. In fact they eat more than PIGs do just before the sunrise to give themselves ample calories to sustain them for the next twelve hour, before the next PIG like feast.
Why are we surrendering our necks to them by letting them process our food? They can either poison our food deliberately or with their lack of hygiene cause salmonella.
I am going vegetarian from this day and on. Have you seen their picture in the Greeley Tribune article? I was so grossed that I threw up - Yuk!

Sorry to keep you up, Civilus Defendus, but thanks for the good stuff you came up with.
So, as we know from Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Somalia is an absolute hellhole - caused in large part by Islam. In taking in all of these refugees from the hellhole of their own making (thanks to their Saudi masters as well), we have now imported this hellhole to the U.S., because these individuals apparently do not have the wherewithal to escape their slavery once they are freed from their cells.
Locals will continue to flee, these folks will continue to reproduce and pass along their mental illness called "Islam" to their children. Voila! America is an Islamic country.
I wonder about all this talk about firing these people - what will they then do? They will be forced to parasite the system as they are doing happily in Europe. By hook or crook, we will all pay.
Isn't it amazing that the great melting pot U.S. can accept and absorb just about ANY OTHER ETHNICITY or faith - let's say, the Hindus - with little problem, but the Muslims are the biggest pain in the arse. And "they" wonder why we hate Islam.

I really believe writing and complaining about special treatment Muslims get on the job or any place else is quite effective...of course do it nicely and promote other religious people and non religious people-how does this effect them and do they get special treatments, I find important.
Each time I see news like this, I write, write and write more. It is the United States and religion is separate from ones work place and that is the employers right…and yes separate from politics no matter what Muslims feel about that.
Sure there is freedom to practise religion…but remember, the constitution says religion is to be practised in a peaceful manner. Violent religions are not permitted. Separation of Mosque and State, also. No politics allowed in the Mosque as the same goes for others.
If Muslims want religion practised on the job, open a business for Muslims only…I wonder though if that would be called discrimination? Well, they can always go in an Islamic country. USA is SECULAR.

Apart from this kind of stealth jihad, Islamists urge their flocks to indulge in demographic jihad. Translation: produce as many kids as you can. Ultimately, you will outnumber the host society. For my American friends and fellow infidels, the best thing to do in this case would be to write or phone the company and threaten boycott of their products. In addition, the infidel employees at Swift should be encouraged to ask for their religious accommodation. The whole accommodation farce can be turned into a real headache for the company.

Good point, Suziq. As far as I know, you don't have any problems in America with any other ethnic/religious group. It is only the Muslims that are a pain in the rear end. The same story holds in Britain. Hindus, Sikhs, and Muslims migrated there from Indian subcontinent. They initially faced the same problems: marginalization, discrimination, etc. Yet, Hindus and Sikhs have thrived whereas Muslims are still at the bottom. Reason?: Islam.
Hindus in America have founded roughly one third of high tech companies in the Silicon Valley. Muslim score: zero. Why does US allow these people in?

A Christian at work on an assembly line will simply offer his or her labour quietly to God, as s/he prepares food that others will eat. A Christian cleaning toilets or emptying garbage bins might be aware, at a deep level, that the Lord is at their side, and that s/he honouring Him by doing the best s/he to make the place clean and safe for other people to use.
Deep in the Christian tradition is the belief that work, even the dirtiest of manual labour, is not in and of itself demeaning - since the Lord himself lived and worked for years as a humble village carpenter. Ora et labora - work and pray. To work is to pray, to pray is to work.
Think of a marriage or a friendship. Time deliberately and specifically devoted to prayer - speaking with and listening to God - is good and necessary: it might be compared to time a couple spend lovemaking; but most of the time they are 'at work', together or separately, building a home, raising kids. Friends enjoy 'just hanging out' (again, this is like the special time spent in prayer) - but friends can also 'be together' without talking, hard at work on some common project.
The Christian approach is immensely flexible and flows through and around the messiness of everyday life. The Catholic workers at Swift have done their job and practised their faith without turning everything upside down.
The Muslim approach is incredibly disruptive - as is shown so clearly by this episode at the Swift food factory.
