Great job on Al-Qaeda, fellows. Now about Islamic Jihad in Yemen, and the Islamic jihad ideology in general...
Can we expect the Yemenis to work against that ideology? Can we expect the law of gravity to be suddenly suspended?
"Car bomb at U.S. embassy in Yemen kills 16," by Mohammed Ghobari for Reuters, September 17 (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):
SANAA (Reuters) - A car bomb set off a series of explosions outside the heavily fortified U.S. embassy in Yemen on Wednesday and a Yemeni security source said at least 16 people, including six attackers, were killed...."This morning a car exploded at the main gate of the embassy in Sanaa. There was an initial explosion and several secondary explosions," a U.S. embassy spokesman told Reuters by telephone....
A group calling itself Islamic Jihad in Yemen claimed responsibility for the bombing and threatened attacks on other embassies including those of Britain, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
It had threatened in a previous statement on Tuesday to launch a series of attacks unless the Yemeni government met its demands for the release of several members from jail.
"We, the organization of Islamic Jihad in Yemen declare our responsibility for the suicide attack on the American embassy in Sanaa," the statement read.
"We will carry out the rest of the series of attacks on the other embassies that were declared previously, until our demands are met by the Yemeni government."...
The security source said that six attackers and four bystanders were killed, while the rest were Yemeni security forces.
Yemen, the ancestral home of Osama bin Laden, has grappled with a spate of al Qaeda attacks this year, including one on the U.S. embassy, another near the Italian mission and others on Western tourists.
An al Qaeda-affiliated group claimed responsibility in March for a mortar attack that missed the U.S. embassy but wounded 13 girls at a nearby school....

Robert, your first link "Great job on Al-Qaeda" was pure gold. Thank you for the laugh.
I guess Islamic Jihad blows up cars during the day and then focuses on their inner spiritual struggle at night....

If they really want prisoners released, then why don't they bomb the facility where they, the prisoners, are being held?
Gosh, these guys are too lazy to put a Qur'anic meaning on their attacks! Not a single Sura. Not even one ayat, or hadith! And they call themselves and Islamic Jihad!
Time to move all the embassies out of Yemen. We're distracting them from the hobby of killing one another.

"Islamic Jihad in Yemen"? They must not have gotten the memo from the US State Dept (nor one from the UN for matter) that bars not only tying the words "islamic" and "jihad" together but bars even the mention of jihad.

eve_anne_gelical,
WE are the only ones not allowed to join the words Islamic and jihad. Muslims have ownership of those words and can do with them as they please.

Sanctioned by those true conservatives in the state dept , no doubt that are on the same road as
condi dice(intentional) to force Israel to give away the entire country to the islamofacists and expect there to be peace. Yup, yemen is our good buddy in the fight against islamofacism! Just like the saudia arabia, packastan(intentional) and other islamic countries that are on our side against the islamofacists. No doubt yemen will hunt the guilty ones down and ...... release them.
Remember the USS COLE???? Recall all the terrorists that have escaped from yemen? Oops, we forgot to lock the cell doors and left the key handy in case we did lock the cell doors! Look, SMELL familiar? Sure does rotten as hell.
Robert, great job as usual. Those nukes keep looking better to me all the time. Small, precision ones, tatcical battlefield size, small missles, you know what I am talking about. Time is getting shorter every day and as Robert put it,
watch thos tentacals spread. More deaths of innocents brought to you by your local/global islamofacists. Sanctioned by our state dept. as we do not want to offend the muslims. Offend those who even think about harming innocents, offendt them to death if need be!

Ladies and gentlemen, look, a Mohammedan boggart is making faces at us.
I think, for the edification of anyone new to this site who may be a little puzzled by the boggart's protestations, I will reiterate two facts well known to the regulars here.
1. The word 'Islam' does not mean 'peace'. It means 'submission' or 'surrender'. Indeed, that very translation is stated to be correct, on more than one Muslim website.
2. Islam, the ideology, does in fact promote war in a way and to an extent that other major human belief systems do not.
Here is a very telling line from an authoritative Muslim text, Ibn Ishaq's Life of Mohammed:
Ibn Ishaq: 204 - “‘Men, do you know what you are pledging yourselves to in swearing allegiance to this man [Muhammad]?’ ‘Yes. In swearing allegiance to him we are pledging to wage war against all mankind.’”
And here is the brilliant French sociologist, longtime Professor of the History and Sociology of Institutions at the University of Bordeaux, Jacques Ellul, giving a sober assessment of the centrality of war - jihad - within the ideology of Islam.
"But a major, twofold fact transforms the jihad into something quite different from traditional wars, waged for ambition and self-interest, with limited objectives, where the "normal" situation is peace between peoples - war, in itself, constituting a dramatic event which must end in a return to peace.
"This twofold fact is, first, the religious nature [of the jihad];
' then, secondly, the fact that war has become an institution (and no longer an "event").
"Jihad is generally translated as "holy war" (this term is not satisfactory); and this suggests both that this war is provoked by strong religious feeling, and then that its first object is not so much to conquer land as to Islamize the populations.
"This war is a religious duty.
"It will probably be said that every religion in its expanding phase carries the risks of war; that history records hundreds of religious wars and it is now a commonplace to make this connection. So, religious passion is thus sometimes expressed in this manner. But it is, in fact, "passion" - it concerns mainly a fact which it would be easy to demonstrate does not correspond to the fundamental message of the religion. That disjuncture is obvious for Christianity.
"In Islam, on the contrary, jihad is a religious obligation.
" It forms part of the duties that the believer must fulfil; it is Islam's *normal* path to expansion. And this is found repeatedly, dozens of times in the Koran.
"Therefore, the believer is not denying the religious message. Quite the reverse, jihad is the way he best obeys it.
"And the facts - which are meticulously recorded and clearly analyzed [by Bat Ye’or] - show that the jihad is not a "spiritual war" but a real military war of conquest.
"It expresses the agreement between the "founding text" and the believers' practical strivings.
'But Bat Ye'or shows that things are not so simple. Since the jihad is not solely an external war, it can break out within the Muslim world itself - and wars among Muslims have been numerous, but always with the same features.
"Hence, the second important specific characteristic is that the jihad is an institution and not an event; that is to say, that it is part of the normal functioning of the Muslim world."
Jacques Ellul, from his Preface to Bat Yeor's "The Decline of Eastern Christianity Under Islam".
Earlier, in his preface to Bat Yeor's "The Dhimmi: Jews and Christians Under Islam", Ellul made essentially the same point when he wrote:
"There is so much talk nowadays of the 'tolerance' and fundamental 'peacefulness' of Islam, that it is necessary to recall its nature, which is fundamentally warlike".
