Controversial Boston mosque run by Muslim Brotherhood opens, will broadcast call to prayer over loudspeaker

Sure, the controversy has faded -- except for the fact that the Muslim American Society is running this mosque. According to a 2004 Chicago Tribune exposé, the Muslim American Society is the name under which the Muslim Brotherhood operates in the United States. Nor does it mention that according to a 1991 Brotherhood memorandum about its strategy in the U.S., it is embarked upon a “grand Jihad” aimed at “eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and Allah’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”

"Making peace, and prayers: Mosque opens its doors as controversy fades," by Michael Paulson for the Boston Globe, September 15 (thanks to Solomon):

Sixteen years after 2 acres near Roxbury Crossing were designated for use as a mosque, the area's growing Muslim community has quietly begun using the building for regular worship.

Every night since the start of Ramadan this month, hundreds of Muslims have been gathering for evening prayers at the mosque, now called the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center. Officials of the Muslim American Society, which is overseeing the project, say they plan to gradually add activities throughout the fall and winter and hope to hold a formal opening of the building early next year....

"This is such a happy occasion for the Muslim community - this has been a project in the making for decades," said Hossam Al Jabri, president of the Muslim American Society's Boston chapter, which has taken over management of the mosque from the Islamic Society of Boston, which runs a mosque in Cambridge. "It's strange, but I'm thankful that we had to go through the difficulty, because it forced us to come out of an isolation that we were comfortable in, and helped us to see that we have a world out there that is interested to know who we are. And it helped us to make so many friends."...

The mosque has been controversial for years. A conservative Israel-advocacy organization called the David Project asserted that some of the mosque's founding leaders had links to terrorism. In 2005, the Islamic Society filed a lawsuit against the David Project and two media outlets, saying that those allegations were defamatory, but dropped the suit last year after another suit, challenging the mosque's construction, was also dropped....

"Usually we find there's some level of resistance, but the situation in your area was unique in its level of vitriol and viciousness," said Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Washington, D.C.-based Council on American-Islamic Relations. "It was atypical in the level of controversy that was generated by those who were opposed to the mosque, and I don't mean legitimate controversy, I mean fake controversy. There's an effort by some minority of people in any community who seek to marginalize Muslims and demonize Islam, and that's what we saw in this case."

The leading critic of the mosque, Charles Jacobs, said he continues to have concerns about the mosque's leadership, but that "our concerns were never with the rank and file of the Muslim community."

Jacobs was president of the David Project until leaving the post in July.

"Our concern was with the leadership, and the ties that that leadership had, it seemed, to terrorism and the teaching of hatred," Jacobs said. He said he has ongoing concerns about the Islamic Society of Boston and the Muslim American Society, both of which, he says, have expressed extremist views. He said "it's been estimated that 80 percent of mosques are radicalized" but that "it's very difficult for American citizens to speak about these things, because they don't want to be labeled as bigots or Islamophobes, so that has allowed these connections to go much unspoken and unreported."...

CAIR, of course, is an unindicted co-conspirator in a jihad terror funding case. It is a spinoff of the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP), which is listed in that same 1991 Muslim Brotherhood memorandum on strategy in the U.S. as part of its "grand jihad." Several CAIR officials have been arrested and convicted on terror-related charges, and one of its founders has made Islamic supremacist statements, hoping that one day the Qur'an would be the only law of the land in America. But the Globe, of course, mentions none of this.

And the Boston Mosque will also be broadcasting the call to prayer into Hyde Park via loudspeaker. From "A view from the minaret, by Michael Paulson in his Articles of Faith blog at the Globe, September 14 (thanks again to Solomon):

I made it high enough to report that there's a nice view to be had of the crescent-topped mosque dome silhouetted against the distant skyline, but not high enough to tell you what it would be like if you were the muezzin who had to go up there five times a day to chant the call to prayer. Of course, the muezzin can't tell you either -- he's no fool -- they're going to broadcast the prayer summons (which will only happen during the day out of respect for the neighbors) by loudspeaker.

Of course he's no fool. That they're going to broadcast the call to prayer at all, despite previous assurances that they wouldn't, according to Solomon, is a supremacist statement. For in the modern world, with cell phones and phone alarms and clocks everywhere and all sorts of related amenities, there is no need whatsoever for an amplified call to prayer. It is simply an assertion of Islamic dominance over the area.

Boston probably has a noise ordinance that could be invoked to deem an amplified call to prayer a public nuisance. Perhaps local citizens will make use of it.

"There's an effort by some minority of people in any community who seek to marginalize Muslims and demonize Islam...."

Muslims are a proud and independent people wherever they go and DON'T need any help from the community to marginalize and demonize themselves.

I had heard about this Boston mosque project before. There has been little mention in the local media, before this grand opening. There goes the neighborhood; my mother grew up in the Hyde Park section of Boston.

If there were calls to prayer in my town, I would be sorely tempted to blast the Butthole Surfers or Nine Inch Nails as loud as I could at the exact same time!

Posted by: Mo Foe [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 17, 2008 11:18 AM

BTW, Boston's Mayor Tom Menino is also from Hyde Park. To Menino's credit, he is not bothered by terms like "Christmas Tree" (instead of the PC "Holiday Tree").

What is so outrageous in this case is the white-collar/white-dawb crime and the incestuous corruption of Boston politics involved.
Right in the heart of the largest black community in the Commonwealth this edifice - might just as well be an 'islamic consulate' - is build using funds from a cluster of countries still allowing slavery. Imagine, in the same place a shrine for William Clarke Quantrill with flowers ina pattern of the Confederacy.
Solomon has done some excellent work on this topic. I recently used some of his findings in a rather long screed of my own.
But, as these things occur, my heart sinks when I ask myself, "Where were you?" It's worse when I answer, "Here. Right here. Only a mile away."

Posted by: Shawmut [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 17, 2008 11:38 AM

I'm a mathematician, not a lawyer. But it would seem reasonable that noise ordinances would prohibit this. I agree with Eastview's remark.

Get a copy of the Who's "Live at Leeds".
Face your speakers out the windows.
Turn up the volume as loud as possible.
Leave your building for an hour.

Caution: only for Islamophobes.

Mohammedans can't substitute the muezzin and the azaan with PSAs, or cell phone sms messages, or other such modern improvizations, but they can substitute the traditional way of face to face divorce with sms divorces.

It's nice to note that they have their priorities in order.

If there ARE any noise ordinances, you can bet they will be waived in the interest of "diversity". Noise ordinances only matter when you are ringing a bell.

And why do Muslims need to be CALLED to prayer? Isn't their faith strong enough that they know when to pray?

Posted by: PMK [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 17, 2008 12:38 PM

Then there was the second Swift plant where 100 workers walked off the job because "they didn't get enough time" to do their Ramadan prayers.
The plant accommodated them but the special treatment they were given still wasn't enough.
Maybe Muslims should be given the entire month of Ramadan off - without pay or benefits.

Posted by: PMK [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 17, 2008 12:41 PM

Is Mayor Menino proud of himself for having gone along, at every step, with this project, including the sale of city-owned land for an amount far below what the market would bring, a clear case of favoring a particular religion (if we grant, for the nonce, that Islam is a "religion" and not a political ideology, and geopolitical plan, wrapped in the outward form of a religion)? Does he still find that this contributes to the rich tapestry of "diversity" or some such? Is the Muslim who worked for the Boston Redevelopment Authority, the one who behind the scenes worked to arrange that sale of land at below-market rates and then went off on a trip to Saudi Arabia, the details of which have never been revealed, but presumably to raise Saudi funds (it is the Saudis who pay for so many of the mosques in America -- they have spent close to 100 billion dollars, in order to promote and spread the ideoloyg of Islam, everywhere in the Bilad al-kufr, or Lands of the Infidels) for this project -- a project, that is, in which the Saudis were, in essence, given preferential treatment, and today are allowed to spend their money, without any vigilant oversight -- or any overwsight at all -- in Boston as elsewhere, for purposes that, if achieved, will make the legal and political institutions of this country less secure, and the non-Muslims of our society more and more disturbed not by "diversity" or an alien creed, but rather by the systematic and determined spread of an alien and a hostile -- sometimes murderously hostile -- creed.

This is what has happened. And the opponents of the Mosque were hardly limited, as the tendentious article above says, to a "pro-Israel advocacy group." Such a group may have been the most outspoken. But tens of thousands of people --that is, all those who have taken the trouble to learn about Islam, but not by means of what Mosque Outreach Nights, and smiling imams, have on offer to mislead and misinform us --- have been appalled by this episode, and their numbers grow pari passu with the numbers of Infidels who learn, despite all attempts to prevent them, about Islam, from the scholars, and from the aposetates, and from the evidence of their own eyes, as they read the day's dose of Jihad News.

Can black ministers be overjoyed that the mosque was carefully placed in Roxbury, hard by Roxbury Community College, the better to engage in Da'wa among the black students who are seen, not inaccurately, as among the likeliest targets for such a "Call to Islam"?

Will that offer to spread propaganda on behalf of Islam by the Boston Mosque promoters -- those lectures on Islam at Roxburyu Community College that they have so cunningly offered to give, and that were so ingenuously accepted by the City of Boston, still be given? Will still more propaganda be accepted, in the form of those "several thousand books on Islam" -- no doubt mailed from Jiddah or Riyadh -- that the Mosque backers have so sweetly offered to "donate" to Roxbury Community College?

Watch the tentacles spread. Watch the Da'wa really take off. Vigilance, starting with black ministers who must themselves learn about Islam and warn, and continue to warn, their flocks, is necessary. And take the dopes at local newspapers off this particularly story, and assign it to those who actually know something -- other than the predictable apologetics -- about the texts and tenets, and attitudes, and atmospherics, of Islam, and what the word Jihad really means -- the "struggle" to remove all obstacles to the spread, and then the dominance, of Islam, all over the world.

"This is such a happy occasion for the muslim commumity,", wow, I am so happy I could puke. Church bells are one thing but call to pray over a loudspeaker in Boston? How about some
Springsteen: "BORN IN THE USA", or Steve Miller's
"LIVING in the USA", everytime the call to prayer is broadcast. Of course not much mention of this in the news nationally is there? The muslims wonder why we look at them with suspicion and untrust?? Look to cair and how evil and dirty that organization is! They continue to blow holes in their own projects, alienate those Americans that do watch with growing concern, the spread of
stealth jihad. This is just ANOTHER example of
what the muslim intentions really are... complete and total conquest of the USA and the entire globe. Nothing but a blood hungry cult and again, where are the moderate muslims???

Posted by: PatriotUSA [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 17, 2008 12:42 PM

There's an effort by some minority of people in any community who seek to marginalize Muslims and demonize Islam...

Now why would anyone want to do that?

And why are you worrying about a 'teeny minority' of extremist kuffars?

I want to see what happens when a Christian religion builds a Church across the street from a mosque where the steeple and cross is higher, and looks down on the minaret.

Posted by: duh_swami [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 17, 2008 12:46 PM

duh_ swami:
And if that did happen?? Eye for eye, right? Cut off the hand of a thief? Have you read Robert's post on this subject? I would rather see a cross, star of david any day rather than a minaret. Sorry, the minority is GROWING, WATCHING, and the American public will not go the way of Europe or Britain. It is the minority that is "the canary in the coal mine" whether you like it not. The actions of muslims, cair, the muslim brotherhood are whatis starting to awaken this country. It is a sad fact that RELIGION has highjacked mankind. It is one's PERSONAL faith with your chosen God that is what really matters. I will resist to my death any cult, religion or group that threatens the USA and the rest of globe. cair is an extension of the muslim brotherhood and has had eveil intentions since it's inception and ties right into islam, no matter how you slice it, dice it. One thing that the American people will stand for is ANY religion beying shoved down our throats, and I do know that we, as nation will
wake up. I pray I am alive to witness that!

Hussein Obama will be happy to hear one of the most beautiful sounds he has heard on earth the next time he is in Boston. [gag]

Posted by: SoteriA [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 17, 2008 1:57 PM

Boston is home to the ride of Paul Revere, the Boston Tea Party, and nearby in Concord was “the shot heard around the world”, and famous battles in Lexington and Bunker Hill. New England is the first seat of our freedoms. So Muslims have no idea where they are treading, and not treading lightly, on the liberties born in that great city. In Faneuil Hall rang the voices of liberty, like Madison and Adams, those that launched the American Revolution, what created the greatest nation on Earth, a liberty that is spreading to liberate all people with equality and freedom. Islam cannot stand up to that world force of liberty with their barbaric primitive Cult of their enslaving moon god Allah as ‘revealed’ by their self serving, caravan raiding, hostage taking, prisoner beheading, child raping, delusional ‘prophet’ inspired by demons.

Right PatriotUSA, they should be careful where they tread, because we will not let them tread on us. Boston is the seat of our American born liberty. They tread on our liberties at their own peril. Beware!

Posted by: Battle_of_Tours [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 17, 2008 2:03 PM

Thanks,
Battle_of_ Tours! It is no "ACCIDENT" they planted the mosque there, just like the twin towers being hit in 2001. Insidious, sneaky and unhonest are those who carry the banner of the moon and crescent under islam, and try to say "we are peaceful, we mean no harm." I may live on Northleft west coast but I am a constitutional conservative, have been always will be! DON'T TREAD ON ME comes to mind and the serpent will strike those who tread so callously on our soil and expect us to roll over and play dead as the filth of islam tries to take over here in the USA, and across the globe. The LAST thing we need
is the commiecrats like obumma/byeden to be elected and take away our rights, to keep and bear arms, among other precious LIBERTIES that I REFUSE to give up or vote away. They do not understand, Jefferson, Adams, Madison, what they stood for and what some of us will DIE for, at least I speak for myself.

Posted by: PatriotUSA [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 17, 2008 2:57 PM

And the church across the street, next door is even better, with a steeple higher than the minaret, could also have a speaker on the top which blasts Gregorian Chants while muslims next door are praying. Mood music provided by your friendly church next door. When muslims want to know where that sweet music is coming from, they 'look up' to the Cross...Darn those Christian kufrs are clever...

Posted by: duh_swami [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 17, 2008 3:14 PM

"They do not understand, Jefferson, Adams, Madison, what they stood for and what some of us will DIE for, at least I speak for myself."

Exactly right, but we do. Everyone who reads this should go out and rent or better yet, buy the John Adams miniseries DVDs that HBO put out. The first two episodes plainly shows the measure of Boston's resolve in protecting their freedom and their rights. The spirit of John Adams still resides in that city, even if we haven't bothered to teach the younger generations much about him.

It may come down to some nasty confrontations to get the message across. Jefferson said, "The tree of Liberty must be refreshed from time to time by the blood of patriots and tyrants." We know who the tyrant-wanna-be's are. Now we need to assemble the patriots.

quote:"And the church across the street, next door is even better, with a steeple higher than the minaret,.."

I didn't know that the mosque was built across the street from a church.

That is their tactic -- to build a big/major mosque in front/as close as possible to a major church.

I remember reading an article about Muslims turning a government building across the street from a Christian church in Bagdad into a (big) mosque.

They do this in Indonesia all the time. That seems to be their modus operandi.

To all the humans who use their own mind and not the mind of some past book writen by humans in different times of the human evolution tree have peace with each other and we will soon be all as one.

Wow, so how did you learn to type in your English on a blog site?

Did pre-existing knowledge from some past books or someone other than yourself, teach these things to you; or did you come up with the idea all by yourself?

Evolution tree? Did you make that up? Maybe someone in the past came up with that THEORY before you did and you learned it for them?

No, of course not; what was I thinking?

Peace? Who defines what "peace" means anyway? You?

Why do they have to always make such an big show of their beliefs? Why can't they worship (if you want to call it that) in a truly PEACEFUL, quiet, individual manner? Why do they have to throw their butts in the air in public? I saw a photo the other day of a small child surrounded by 100's of prostrate, scruffy, smelly-looking adult posteriors. The child had a look of horrified bewilderment on his face. I do not want small American children growing up in a sea of screaming prayer-calls and prostrate, robed adults. And how will we explain to our children just to what evil these people are praying? This cannot continue on our soil. We have got to find a way to stop it.

Sooner or later, every mosque in the US will have these amplified loudspeakers playing five times a day to call for Muslim prayers. And if Obama is elected, we will have them in less than a decade vs. a decade or two if Obama looses.

The amplified loudspeakers will be sneaked unto the Americans under the "Reasonable Accommodation Act". The problem, once these speakers are in place they will never be taken out.

melati - you said "I am beginning to think that this world belongs to the vicious."

Well: what then? Conclude that Hitler was right; or Lord Voldemort when he says, 'there is neither good nor evil, there is only Power; and those too weak to seek it'?

Go down that path and you will find either despair, or conversion to Islam, since it certainly embodies Viciousness (Supremacism, Aggressive Cruelty, Dominance-Slavery) to the nth degree. And it builds nothing, creates nothing; it merely destroys, and destroys, and destroys, it is Thanatos codified.

Or you could choose to resist it.

I suggest the following course of study.
1. Exodus.
2. Isaiah 49: 24-25;
3. Habakkuk.

4. Tom Cahill 'The Gifts of the Jews'.

5. David Bentley Hart - "The Doors of the Sea"; and "The Beauty of the Infinite", chapters or sections entitled 'The Will to Power', 'The Covenant of Light' and 'The Consolations of Tragedy, the Terrors of Easter'.

6. G K Chesterton - 'The Ballad of the White Horse', 'The Ballad of St Barbara', and from his book "The Everlasting Man", two chapters - 'The War of the Gods and the Demons' and 'The Five Deaths of the Faith'.

7. M Scott Peck, 'People of the Lie'.

8. Jacques Ellul - Violence (French title: Contres les Violents, 'against the violent'); Prayer and Modern Man (French title: l'Impossible Priere - 'the impossible prayer'); Hope in Time of Abandonment (l'esperance oubliee - The Forgotten Hope).

And watch Kieslowski's trilogy, Three Colours.

Islam deliberately employs a spectacle of extreme and sadistic violence, in order to induce in its victims the state of mind which you describe. (See S K Malik, the Quranic Concept of War).

One must refuse to be shaken. Those things which I have listed are things that I have found helpful when feeling overwhelmed by the ghastly spectacle of the cruelties of historic Islam. I should add that none of them could possibly be described as Pollyanna-ish.
