In the wake of Britain's capitulation to Sharia, this is just the kind of law we need. I am very glad to see Congressman Tancredo doing this, and hope that it will at very least ignite a national debate about this issue.
"Tancredo Proposes Anti-Sharia Measure in Wake of U.K. Certification of Islamic Courts," from Borderfire Report, September 19 (thanks to all who sent this in):
WASHINGTON, DC – Amid disturbing revelations that the verdicts of Islamic Sharia courts are now legally binding in civil cases in the United Kingdom, U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo (R-Littleton) moved quickly today to introduce legislation designed to protect the United States from a similar fate.According to recent news reports, a new network of Sharia courts in a half-dozen major cities in the U.K. have been empowered under British law to adjudicate a wide variety of legal cases ranging from divorces and financial disputes to those involving domestic violence.
“This is a case where truth is truly stranger than fiction,” said Tancredo. “Today the British people are learning a hard lesson about the consequences of massive, unrestricted immigration.”
Sharia law, favored by Muslim extremists around the world, often calls for brutal punishment – such as the stoning of women who are accused of adultery or have children out of wedlock, cutting off the hands of petty thieves and lashings for the casual consumption of alcohol. Under Sharia law, a woman is often required to provide numerous witnesses to prove rape allegations against an assailant – a near impossible task.
“When you have an immigration policy that allows for the importation of millions of radical Muslims, you are also importing their radical ideology – an ideology that is fundamentally hostile to the foundations of western democracy – such as gender equality, pluralism, and individual liberty,” said Tancredo. “The best way to safeguard America against the importation of the destructive effects of this poisonous ideology is to prevent its purveyors from coming here in the first place.”
Tancredo’s bill, dubbed the “Jihad Prevention Act,” would bar the entry of foreign nationals who advocate Sharia law. In addition, the legislation would make the advocacy of Sharia law by radical Muslims already in the United States a deportable offense.
Tancredo pointed to the results of a recent poll conducted by the Centre for Social Cohesion as evidence that the U.S. should act to prevent the situation in Great Britain from replicating itself here in the United States. The poll found that some 40 percent of Muslim students in the United Kingdom support the introduction of Sharia law there, and 33 percent support the imposition of an Islamic Sharia-based government worldwide.
“We need to send a clear message that the only law we recognize here in America is the U.S. Constitution and the laws passed by our democratically elected representatives,” concluded Tancredo. “If you aren’t comfortable with that concept, you aren’t welcome in the United States.”

Yes, yes, yes, yes!!!
What is the best way to support Tom Tancredo and the Jihad Prevention Act?
I intend to write e-mails and s-mails (hoping hard copies are more difficult to ignore) to everyone on any review committees and House as a whole. If anyone has ideas to effectively to support this, please POST them.
Thanks to TOM! Time to Roll.

Well done, Hon. Mr. Tancredo. Not sure if SCOTUS (as currently constituted) would uphold this, but certainly should try! Is there a petition to be signed? In the absence of that, all readers of JW should certainly voice their support in correspondence with their elected representatives.

“We need to send a clear message that the only law we recognize here in America is the U.S. Constitution and the laws passed by our democratically elected representatives,” concluded Tancredo.
Enough of the "sending a clear message" already!!
This is a publicity stunt. It won't get anywhere. Congress will recess in about a week to go out campaigning. They might come back for a lame-duck session but it will be to deal with spending bills and/or Wall Street.
Tancredo looks more and more like a huckster.
I supported the man. I believed him.
Not any more.

It does mean something. Such words needed to be uttered. They need to be on record. They need to enter the bloodstream of the public. They will now provoke thought. They cannot be unheard or pass forever unremarked. They must now be discussed. And the discussion itself will do good as more detailed home truths, not to be rebutted, are broadcast, and heard.

Too bad this is his last term, and he won't be running again. He should run the next time there is a GOP race for senator from CO - as it is, more GOP senators are like McCain than they're like Mitch McConnell.
And if this year sees even more gains for the Dems in the House, it'll be ugly for at least 2 years.

OK, I wondered about his status. But if this is just a symbolic gesture, it can still have a tremendous influence on people and thereby on Congress. Show support for this measure in whatever way possible. Have someone else propose it. I will contact my House Rep, I know him, he might go for it.
Do not give up, grab every opportunity, we don't know which one will light a fire under every joe six pack (:-)).

I'm with Hugh.
Tancredo's Bill will most certainly be rejected as a piece of legislation, and it may turn out to be nothing but a pin-drop in the din of our current political cacophony, but it is there on the record, both as an official call from a public official for a policy against Sharia, and as a testimonial to the man himself, whose effort - regardless of its improbability of success as a piece of legislation - may be the defining feature of his public service.

I love Tom Tancredo. What an American Patriot! Perhaps when he's gone other great American Congress people will pick up where he left off, like Rep. Sue Myrick of North Carolina who is working on a bill to protect first responders in the police departments around the country from being sued by idiots like CAIR when they stop folks doing illegal things (if they happen to be...)and Rep Frank Wolf from Virginia who is working diligently to get the State Department to do something about the hate spewing Islamic Saudi Academy which is less than ten miles from our Capitol.
BTW, for any Jihad Watchers in the D.C., MD and VA areas, this Tuesday, Brigitte Gabriel is speaking at the Heritage Foundation. You can RSVP for the event here: http://www.heritage.org/Press/Events/

Hugh,
But they won't be discussed. They will be ignored because they go against the platforms of both major parties and they don't mesh with the sensibilities of all of the politically correct on both sides of the aisle. Tancredo has been saying these words for YEARS. He has been ignored or reviled. The timing is perfect for them to be completely disregarded by all but the converted. The country is reeling from the financial upheavals and we are less than a month from a political campaign, a campaign in which Tancredo isn't running. The MSM have more immediate stories and the people more immediate worries. Tancredo's words will be disregarded because of the source. Those who support him believe he is right. Those who oppose him call him a bigot. In any case, he's leaving.

Sharia law is poisonous to our ideology in the United States of America, there is nothing good that comes from Sharia law. It's a barbaric form of justice that is outdated by several hundred centuries and used primarily by the nation of Islam.
Great Britain will pay a heavy price for their lack of strength facing the onslaught of Muslims invading their country...And I do mean invading their country, they are not there to become British subjects, they are there to eventually take over the country & convert the masses to their barbaric Islam.
New people coming in to a country are supposed to "assimilate" into the new society, not impose it's way of thinking.
Keep America Strong !!!!

Tancredo is a hero and I predict that he will not go away. He has been a voice in the wilderness and had much to do with last year's defeat of amnesty and getting the wall started. He should definitely get the bill in the hopper as a matter of record.
While the founding fathers knew well the evils of Islam, they never in their wildest dreams thought that this deviltry could threaten the United States, from the inside yet. It may yet take a constitutional amendment to protect the nation from this evil.
We certainly cannot tolerate anything like a sharia court or any liberal justices who think it is cool (I am glad Sandra Day O'Conner has retired, but there are some other supremes who are impressed by foreign laws). We need to start a vigorous program of impeaching judges at all levels who think they have the right to make law contrary to the Constitution.

Hugh and Cornelius are certainly correct.
Let those who oppose this legislation tell us why, on the record. Let muslims and their apologists be placed on the defensive and have them explain to the nation why sharia is so virtuous. Then we, as anti-jihadist, can rip those defenses to shreds by exposing Sharia for what it truly is. Perhaps it will force politicians like Congressman K Ellison to make a public announcement on why he opposes the bill instead of being allowed to cower in silence. Let N Pelosi or Harry Reid try to defend and support all the wonders of Islamic law - we know they will fail when the awful truth is exposed.
In addition, how much of the voting public actually know what sharia law is? where and how it originates? Just having the word "sharia" thrown about in discussions is a good thing given the level of ignorance about Islam's teachings.

Hugh is absolutely right.
We need to speak the truth about Islam at EVERY opportunity and yes, even when you think no one is paying attention. You may be pleasantly surprised one day to find that some of our fellow Infidels ARE becoming more aware of the truth about Islam. It is happening bit by bit, facilitated by those of us who have read the Qur’an and the Hadith and the Sirat.
Knowledge will NOT be spread if those who know make no effort because they think “It means nothing”.
Tonight I had the pleasure of meeting an army combat medic and his pretty wife and daughter in our local ice cream parlor. (“Army wife, toughest job in the world” read a sticker on their car) We talked a bit and I thanked him and his wife for their service. I then asked him if he knew much about Islam. I was surprised when he replied that he did. We discussed the importance of spreading the truth about Islam and his wife agreed stating it was a great evil in the world that must be fought. Soon I gave him my leaflets on the Qur’an and the life of Muhammad, al-insan al-kamil (The Perfect Man) and uswa hasana (The Model of Conduct). Imagine my complete surprise when he told me that he had seen the one on Muhammad and that it was posted at his Battalion headquarters!
In the past I have wondered if I was doing any good with the leaflets I hand out – tonight I got an extremely satisfying and unequivocal answer. Battalion headquarters, WOW!
Keep speaking the truth everywhere, any time, to any one who might listen, even a little bit, even for a little while – IT MEANS SOMETHING.

Perhaps Geert Wilders will take a leaf out of Tancredo's book and get a similar proposal up and running for the Netherlands. Perhaps the Italians will, too. The Danes?
Opposition parties in Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, take note. Ruling parties in Australia, Canada and New Zealand, take note. Do it NOW, while your total Muslim population is still relatively small (a law of this kind would help it to *remain* small, or even make it smaller, if sternly enforced...).
Legislation of this kind needs to be drafted, pronto, and proposed, and ENACTED right across the non-Muslim world.
I would particularly advise it for Latin American countries and for places like Japan and South Korea.
Making advocacy of sharia a deportable offence - especially if mosques and suchlike were monitored, so kafir governments could hear what Muslims were planning among themselves, as opposed to what they were earnestly vowing and declaring in public to kafir - could do a lot to cut down the size of the Mohammedan population in all sorts of places.

I wish people would start understanding what "moderate" Muslims do to their host country.
Muslims impose their "rights" to Islamize your culture by demanding halal, sharia, political power, educational "rights" to spread and propogate THEIR views of Islam.
Our governments protect Muslims, fund them, let them engage in political lobbying, etc. Then they impose self-censorship on citizens and condemn anyone opposing their cultural onslaught as "bigots"!
It's time people started asking - is this a just a RELIGION or is it something more. Ask us Brits, who just got Isamic law imported into our legal system!
Islamization means exchanging your culture (of tolerance, equality and democracy) for Islamic laws, Islamic culture and Islamic power.
If you HATE AMERICA or HATE YOUR COUNTRY keep importing Muslims, appologizing for Islam and allowing Islam to dominate - not just other reliions, but also politics, education and every aspect of life.
Enjoy your Islam... it won't be long before it chokes your culture to death.

Where does Rep. Sue Myrick's Congressional Anti-Jihad Caucus stand on this issue? I would bet a substantial sum that if any of us who live in districts of caucus representatives, calls the respective district offices, the majority of members will give answer a) of these 3 options:
a) we're looking at it and have no position
b) we don't support
c) we do support
Call your Representative and press him/her on this issue. There are supposedly 50+ members of the Anti-Jihad Congressional caucus. I called my Congressman and inquired if he was a member, and if so, could he provide a list of other member representatives. His office affirmed he was a member,(Joe Wilson, R.- SC), but refused to provide a full list of caucus membership, without explanation. These Anti-Jihad members, whoever they may be, ought to be taking the lead on this issue. If they are members, and don't support, or are wishy washy on it, they are not so much for anti-jihad are they?
Does anyone know of other members? I now know of only 3 1. Sue Myrick (NC), Peter King (NY), and Joe Wilson (SC).
Anyone motivated enough to contact their representative to encourage them to support this bill, ought to also inquire of membership in the caucus, and if they are not a member, suggest they become one.

There can only be one law of a nation. Two laws splits the nation in two. Three courts of separate jurisprudence splits the nation in three, etc. Britain may have to learn the hard way that the 'two state solution' will not work when one of the states is hostile to the other.

Legislative bodies are typically viewed in the public mind as the source of our laws and not much else, but they are much, much more than that. High on that list is that they are the places where We the People conduct our ultimate public dialogue. It is where We inform Ourselves of every fact and every opinion necessary to consider before We codify our public choices with the enactment of legislation. So even if a legislative proposal such as this is not adopted for statutory enactment, the public discourse itself is the victory to the People that is worth celebrating. On that note, I'm off to the fridge for an ice cold J. Boag's Premium. Cheers to you Congressman Thomas Tancredo.

Was just wondering what the leaflet actually says?
Posted by: Cornelius
There are (2) two sided leaflets, one titled “3 Questions for Infidels” and another titled “Muhammad ‘The Perfect Man’”. The first asks, “Why do they hate us?” followed by a short discussion of jihad events around the world and then the main text of 20 direct quotes from the Qur’an. The final question is “Have the Islamic terrorists radicalized Islam – or is it the other way around?”
The leaflet on Muhammad is a biography taken from events as described in the Qur’an, Hadith and “Sirat Rasul Allah”. The story begins with Muhammad’s childhood, mentions the circumstances of his marriage to Khadijah and his eventual Hijra to Medina. Many violent events of the time in Medina, which Muhammad had a direct hand in, are presented. Among these events are the revenge on the prisoners after the battle of Badr, the calls for assassinations (Ka’b bin Al-Ashraf, Marwan’s daughter, etc.) the treatment of the Banu Qaynuqa, Banu Nadir and the massacre of the men of the Banu Qurayzah and the explicit permission, given by Muhammad to rape captive married women.
In both of these leaflets I have endeavored to keep all facts in strict conformity with Islamic Holy texts.
If you would like a copy of these, please Email me by clicking on the “typeKey profile page” just to the right of “Davegreybeard”. Please include your JW user name so I know whom I’m conversing with.
I would GREATLY appreciate any comments or criticism you may have on these.

Exactly. Ask if the visitor/immigrant supports Sharia. If he/she says yes: deny entry. If he/she says no but later shows he/she is a Sharia law supporter: evict from the country. This should be policy from any free country, Canada included!

Daveygraybeard,
If you are the author of the leaflets, here is an interesting look at the morality of the prophet Muhammad, found in Ibn Ishaq's Sirat Rasul...that you might want to consider adding.
The story comes on the heels of the surrender of the Jews at the Khyber oasis after the unprovoked attack of the Muslims...
"Kinana, the husband of Safiya, had been guardian of the tribe's treasures, and he was brought before the apostle, who asked where they were hidden. But Kinana refused to disclose the place...The apostle of Allah handed him over to al‑Zubayr, saying, 'Torture him until he tells what he knows', and al‑Zubayr kindled a fire on his chest so that he almost expired; then the apostle gave him to Muhammad b. Maslama, who struck off his head."

Excellent. We will have to add him to our leadership guide as a good example!

Where were all the "Tom supporters" when Tom was running for presidency?

-----------------
This Texan walked into Tancredo's Washington DC office the summer of 2007 and pledged my help for him if he ran for President. He did and I did.
The American masses refused to hear...the truth about America...and voted like good little pets...
The amount of apathy in America is totally unbelievable...with what is occurring in America and across the world Americans refuse to open their eyes and see the threats that America is under...
We are losing our nation...while the fiddler plays and so many refuse to hear...
greed and corruption is now the norm in politics and business,
being forced to accept perversion as being normal,
being forced to accept abortion -- the murder of over 50,000,000 defenseless unborn babies in America,
apathy -- leave me alone and let me work and watch TV everyday for everything is just fine,
and the list goes on...and...on...
America is melting down... we are just seeing the begining...
This is why we have McCain and Obama, two losers for America, as potential President. there is a slight glimmer of hope in Palin, a woman, to be a nexus of the solution...may miracles happen...
God helps us...for the American political machine will not...
pray for America and for that glimmer of hope...

Cornelius,
“By deceit, ambush, murder, rape and plunder, the pursuit of wealth and power was now at full gallop for ‘The Perfect Man’ with revelations from Allah coming along the way. On Muhammad’s command, a small fire was built on the chest of the Jew leader, Kinana b. al-Rabi so he would reveal the location of treasure – near death he was decapitated. ‘The Model of Conduct’ took Kinana’s wife Safiya and ravished her that very night.”
From the leaflet “Muhammad ‘The Perfect Man’”
Regarding the “posting” at Battalion HQ I took the man at his word and did not ask him about it. I envision a “posting” on an informal bulletin board of the type that troopers would use to announce a BBQ or sell a used car.

Good stuff Dave. Your leaflet doesn't mince words.

Wow! I love it and pray it gets passed. BUT...for that to happen we would either have to have a congress that was not filled with a bunch of PC-minded, selfish, spineless, overpaid sycophants. OTHERWISE Tancredo would probably have to rewrite the bill of..."Tancredo’s bill, dubbed the “Jihad Prevention Act,” would bar the entry of foreign nationals who advocate Sharia law. In addition, the legislation would make the advocacy of Sharia law by radical Muslims already in the United States a deportable offense". BECAUSE it is just not PC enough. Probably the exact problem that the Brits ran into. And what we are witnessing there is the fall of the Great British Empire. As soon as they capitulated to those radical Muslims...they LOST their country for good. It won't be long before Christians and others will be subjected to it. With Sharia courts in power it will spread like an infestation of cockroaches.
I, for one and like many of you, am not afraid of beng un-PC. And I don't think Tancredo is either...we need more guys like him. Grow a backbone America...otherwise we, too, will be seeing "THE DAWNING OF A NEW DARK AGE".

Muslims Against Sharia praise Congressman Tancredo's initiative. We advocated similar measures in the past and fully support "Gihad Prevention Act"
"Any person from a country where a substantial part of the population is pro-Sharia should not be allowed in the West, not only as an immigrant, but even as a visitor with a few exceptions, i.e., political asylum or as a diplomat etc. ... Every legal immigrant should be allowed to stay only if he/she did not display desire to establish a Sharia state in a host country. Any naturalized citizen who displays a desire to establish a Sharia state in a host country should have his/her citizenship revoked and promptly deported. I think the latter two groups is where the real danger lies." Linda Ahmed, FrontPage Magazine, July 24, 2008
"Anyone who proclaims Islamic extremist views should be tried for sedition, since we are at war with radical Islam, or at the very least, promptly deported." Khalim Massoud, FrontPage Magazine, September 9, 2008

I have put together an email for people that would like to contact their representatives on the matter of Bill HR 6975 IH. Hopefully the links work.
In response to the recent legalizing of Sharia in the U.K. Bill HR 6975 IH was introduced in the House of Representatives. You can read about the Bill here http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c110:H.R.6975: Here is some verbiage from the Bill, which I am sure no American would disagree with. "Section 340(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1451(a)) is amended by inserting after the first sentence the following: `Advocating the installation of a Sharia law system in the United States shall constitute a ground for revocation of a person's naturalization under this subsection.'.
Provided is a link to help you contact your Representative. They must know We The People, are watching their every move on this, and that their actions will be tallied. They must be held to account.
I'll make it easy first find your Find your ZIP + 4® Code By Address Results here: http://www.usps.com/zip4
Go to https://forms.house.gov/wyr/welcome.shtml to get to your Representatives web page. There should be contact information there. Let the flood gates open.
PLEASE FORWARD!

Paging all members of ACT for America
You may like to talk to Andrew Bostom and find out how to get hold of the original documents,
namely - “Unsigned essays dealing with the Russo-Turkish War, and on Greece, written while John Quincy Adams was in retirement, before his election to Congress in 1830” [Chapters X-XIV (pp. 267-402) in The American Annual Register for 1827-28-29. New York, 1830.]
from which Bostom quotes in his FrontPage article "John Quincy Adams Knew Jihad".
http://frontpagemag.com/Articles/Read.aspx?GUID=F3F5C99B-338A-4BC1-A4B2-585EFE643619
I think that those long-buried scalpel-sharp essays by John Quincy Adams, including wonderfully lucid observations on the character of Mohammed, on the jihad ideology, and on the consistent, deliberate deceitfulness of Mohammedan entities when 'negotiating' and making 'agreements' with non-Muslims, cry out to be reprinted in full, in an easily accessible 'political pamphlet' form, perhaps with a brief historical introduction in plain English written by Mr Spencer or by Mr Bostom, and preferably with one or two eye-catching illustrations.
They should then be placed in every high school in America. Certain passages from those essays demand to be learned by heart, like the Gettysburg Address or the Declaration of Independence.
John Quincy Adams' mercilessly accurate reflections upon Mohammed, upon Islam, upon jihad, and upon what he himself as a statesman had observed of the behaviour of Mohammedans, should also be translated into Spanish and circulated in the Spanish-American community - among Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, and other Latinos.
I would also suggest a Russian translation, beautifully got up, to be presented to the Russian Ambassador.
Inside the front cover, side by side, two illustrations: 1. the WTC Towers burning, on 9/11 and 2. a suitable image from the jihad attack on the Beslan school
Under those two images, this epigraph (translated into Russian, of course):
'"...he [Mohammed] declared undistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind".
- John Quincy Adams, American statesman and opponent of tyranny and slavery, 1830.'

Further note.
First an Israeli MK, Arieh Eldad, announces that he is holding a conference in Jerusalem with '30 European lawmakers', to discuss "Standing Up to Jihad". They hope to be able to issue a statement - The Jerusalem Declaration.
Now, Tancredo seeks to introduce, in the USA, a '“Jihad Prevention Act,” which would "bar the entry of foreign nationals who advocate Sharia law. In addition, the legislation would make the advocacy of Sharia law by radical Muslims already in the United States a deportable offense."
If everyone in the free non-Muslim world gets behind these two initiatives, then perhaps we will see History being made before our very eyes.
A mass demonstration in Washington, of American resisters to jihad and sharia, might be in order as Tancredo's bill is discussed. If you hold a march, start it and finish it at the Lincoln Memorial; for sharia represents Slavery in a peculiarly all-encompassing and ugly form, a slavery that crushes the mind as well as the body.
Get people to read out the monstrous 'Cairo Declaration of Human Rights in Islam' and expose in detail all the ways in which, because of its subordination of all 'rights' to the commands of sharia, the Cairo Declaration opposes itself with implacable hostility to every provision of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and of the American Bill of Rights.
Make sure to produce the evidence for Islam as a vehicle of Arab supremacism, and the evidence for the awful toll taken upon Black Africa by Muslim Arab slave traders, together with the contemporary evidence that within the Muslim world a great many non-black Muslims, especially those who view themselves as 'Arab', regard all blacks - including black Muslims - as inferior and as slave material.
The fact that sharia condones slavery, and reduces women and non-Muslims to a state of permanent and crippling subordination to, and gross legal inequality with, Male Muslims, is sufficient to make it to stink in the nostrils of all free peoples everywhere.
