Two Methodists arrested in Germany on terror charges -- no, wait...

Actually, they appear to be Muslims, oddly enough. But not to worry, Kölners: some of those who oppose jihad activity are neo-Nazis, and therefore the jihadists pose no threat. Another story on this: "Two arrested on Germany terror charges," from UPI, September 20:

BERLIN, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- A German citizen and a Turkish national have been arrested in Germany on terrorism charges, authorities said.

The German citizen is a 27-year-old man of Afghan descent who allegedly received terrorist training at a militant camp along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, while the Turkish man, also 27, had attempted to reach the same camp but was detained by Pakistani authorities, The Washington Post reported Saturday.

German prosecutors said the two men shared a bank account with three other men arrested last year in connection with an alleged plot by the Islamic Jihad Union to bomb U.S. targets in Germany. Authorities this month charged those suspects with hatching a plan to use homemade explosives to bomb U.S. military bases and a dance club in Giessen.

Both of the men arrested Thursday were charged with membership in a terrorist group, the Post said.

Dear Sir,

As a Turkish atheist who is very very unhappy with my country's current shape I must bring to your attention "your" country's responsability in creating the current mess: The U.S. of America backed two fascist coups in 1972 and 1980, helped eradicate progressive, leftist movements in Turkey. The USA helped create the Afghan extremist resistance against the Soviets, trained them and see what happens know. The same in Turkey, the USA sponsored the F. Gulen sect of Islam (so called "mild" brand). The ailing head mullah is still in the USA (CIA officials testifying on his behalf, believe or not). The current "mild" AKP had strong USA backing all along. As secular Turks , we do not want to live in the test tube of "mild" Islam, seen by the USA as an antidote against the "radical" or "fundamentalist" brand. The USA tenaciously backed backward bigots everywhere and is now reaping the harvest... You Americans, in the next election try to vote intelligently and responsibly. Islam is not an ideology you can tame or use against communism...

We'll try, 2old4u. Each kaffir power has tried to use Islam for political gains, left against right, U.S. and Russia against each other, or "moderate" Islam against the "radical" kind. Comes from short-sighted ignorance. Hope you can raise your voice to educate such ignorance that "Islam is Islam" as Erdogan has put it.
Zena -- koln's mayor and others have a knee-jerk reaction to all the racists who'll try to exploit to their hateful ends the misguided action of the minute micro minority of misinterpreters of the religion of peace (with some legitimate grievances, i am sure, against the neocolonial powers). Else it's a frame-up.

Just a note on racism and Islam:
Racism divides humanity based on blood lines; Islam does so based on belief. Both ideologies contradict 1:27 of Genesis: That mankind was created in the image of the Creator and, as Abraham Lincoln stated, "In the eyes of God, all men are created equal."
Now, all religions and scientific observation divide mankind since there are in fact differences in blood and belief, but the real question is this: Does Islam denigrate the unbeliever and thereby encourage discrimination or incite physical harm in the same way that racism can? I think that the answer is yes. Its doctrine of jihad and its adherents acions have proven that to be so. The Koran calls unbelievers "the vilest people" and is a long, blood-thirsty rant against them.
Thus, one can die at the hands of a racist, or at the hands of a Muslim believer who is not a racist, but either way, you're still dead.
Please do protest racism, but know that its spirit lives in other forms. Understanding that involves a bit of mental flexibility, or, put another way: "Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds."

2old4u,
If you want us to vote sensibly then you need to show us the way.

Obama? The man who took sides in an election dispute in another country? Did he "interfere" in Kenyan elections or was he wise?

2old4u,
An addendum.

If you're so worried about coups in Turkey then maybe you should set about changing your own constitution, which requires the military to intervene when necessary to maintain secularism.
The funny thing is you started out blaming the US for the coups and now you're blaming us for the fundamentalism in Turkey. Which do you prefer?
We didn't elect the people in power. Turks did.

Oddly enough, indeed.

You are making the same mistake as the Islam extremists do - blame it all on the Americans. You cannot blame the Americans for the weakness of some Muslims who need a Westerner to Sheppard them.

Muslims need to wake up and elevate themselves to the human level or they will always be Muslims.

Funny that you blame the U.S. for all of Turkey's problems.

This comes from a country that cannot acknowledge the mass murder of millions of Christians during WW1.

This is 1938 all over again, but this time the enemy already has access to nuclear weapons.
