Al-Qaeda member deemed "unfit" for trial

The original question was whether Aafia Siddiqui was a "devout Muslim or a terrorist." The verdict is in: she's simply insane. After all, federal health inspectors have concluded that she is "unable to understand the nature and consequences of the proceedings against her or to assist properly in her defense" -- an odd assessment for someone originally touted as a "bright MIT grad."

"Alleged Al-Qaeda Member Deemed Unfit for Trial," from Global Security Newswire, November 18:

A U.S. government assessment has concluded that alleged al-Qaeda operative Aafia Siddiqui is not mentally competent to stand trial, a judge wrote in a court order issued yesterday (see GSN, Sept. 3).

Siddiqui was detained by Afghan police in July while allegedly carrying a paper that stated "Mass Casualty Attack" and identified several notable locations in New York, ABC News reported. A previous ABC News report indicated that Siddiqui was carrying information on biological, chemical and radiological weapons at the time of her arrest.

The former MIT student was transported to New York in August and charged with the attempted murder of interrogators during an exchange of gunfire.

Federal mental health examiners concluded in a Nov. 6 forensic assessment: "Ms. Siddiqui is not currently competent to proceed as a result of her mental disease, which renders her unable to understand the nature and consequences of the proceedings against her or to assist properly in her defense."

Of course, they ALL are--what else is new? It's just that she's not competent.

Nuts, that is.

You know, an MIT grad, there always insane (tounge-in-cheek)

I was just looking at the ABC "News" article:

Terrorism Suspect Aafia Siddiqui Unfit for Trial
Judge Slates Hearing After Report That Former MIT Student Not Mentally Competent

Isn't that like discovering water is wet? Or maybe there's something more morally acceptable about the idea of allowing our society to be destroyed by secular psychos instead of those with a religious bent.

From the story:
There have been allegations that Siddiqui has been mistreated while in custody. Some human rights groups have alleged that she was detained for years overseas in various secret sites for high-value detainees.

I certainly hope so.

So................. insane or terrorist? Isn't that one and the same?

.................

Of course, I cannot be certain, but my guess is that Ms. Siddiqui either wanted to represent herself rather than retain an attorney (to provide herself with a platform for Da'wa during court proceedings), or that she has stated that she will not recognize the court's authority in her case (since it is not an Islamic Shari'ah court).

Both of these concepts are common Jihad orthodoxy. They only indicate "mental disease" to the extent that an embrace of Islam, in general, indicates mental disease.

It is important not to have her on the permanent American dole, receiving expensive treatment, in the United States, a country, despite her having been given every advantage and allowed to study (and no doubt given generous support to do so) first as an undergraduate at Brandeis and then as a graduate student at M.I.T. a student, both at Brandeis and then at M.I.T.

She is not, I take it, an American citizen. Send her right back to Pakistan. Let her receive her "treatment" as they offer it to patients in Pakistan. Let her live in a Muslim land, surrounded by Muslims, receiving every benefit that a Muslim country, run of by and for Muslims, provides.

Uh huh...And just what 'mental disease' are you talking about? They conveniently neglected to tell us...

It may be a popular idea, but there is no psychiatric diagnosis of 'just plain nuts'.

Maybe they noticed her Allahphrenia (All Mohammadans have it), and mistook it for Bi polar.

I would like to know what a 'forensic psychiatric examination' consists of...

Somehow this does not pass the smell test...

So long as she's unable to recall, or formulate, anything useful for the enemy. I understand some groups in the region have what amounts to an Islamic "drill here, drill now" policy along those lines. Ah yes, multiculturalism... and the diversity of it all.

At least she looks well fed...

I don't know what she is eating, but what she was saying is garbage...

It's true -- the 'mental disease' is Islam -- a system of totalitarian mind control that prohibits the development of creativity and humanity.

Posted by: jewcat [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 18, 2008 5:27 PM

It also leads to malignant narcissism, a complete disconnection from reality, the total inability to take responsibility for one's own actions and/or failures, compulsive lying, and a permanent victim mentality.

deport her immediately...

Fine, put her in an asylum for the criminally insane, where she can spend the rest of her days under the care of Big Nurse.
And where she can learn "basket-weaving, and finger-painting, and how to twiddle her thumbs and toes, ha-ha, ho-ho, he-he...."

Lots of lunatic asylums in Yemen.

Security, not so good.

From Wiki:

Aafia Siddiqui was born in Pakistan in March 1972. She came to the United States, and after attending University of Houston [1] for her freshman year, she transferred to MIT in the Boston, Massachusetts area. As a sophomore at MIT in 1992, Siddiqui received a Carroll L. Wilson Award for her research proposal "Islamization in Pakistan and its Effects on Women"[2]. As a junior, Siddiqui received a $1,200 fellowship through MIT's LINKS program to help clean up Cambridge elementary school playgrounds. During her undergraduate career, she lived in McCormick Hall and worked at the MIT libraries. She graduated from MIT in 1995.
In 1996, a year after she graduated, she wrote an article for the MIT Information Systems newsletter about how to download computer programs using the File Transfer Protocol and the then-emerging World Wide Web.
In 1999, while living in Boston, she and Khan founded the nonprofit Institute of Islamic Research and Teaching.[citation needed] She attended a mosque outside of the city, where she stored Islamic literature which she distributed.[3]
She subsequently went on to graduate study in Neuroscience at Brandeis University, receiving a Ph.D. degree in 2001 for her dissertation, entitled "Separating the Components of Imitation".
She was married to anesthesiologist Mohammed Khan until 2002/2003. They have 3 children: Maryam(96), Ahmed(98)(aka Ali Hassan), and Suleman(02). Khan is now working as a physician at a hospital in Karachi, Pakistan. Khan's family lives in a wealthy compound in Karachi.
Siddiqui is reported by the US government to be married to Ammar al-Baluchi.

How many neuro-scientists do we know of who are "unfit for trial" because they are criminally insane?

Why the suicidal compassion?

Why the suicidal compassion?

Could be we saw so many horrors in the the last war that we go to any lengths to avoid them happening again. Even to the extent of hiding our heads in the sand and believing nobody could be evil as the German nazis.

Posted by: InfidelK9 [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 18, 2008 11:13 PM

She's crazy all right, but not mentally unfit to stand trial. This treacherous twit is suffering from a chronic case of mental derangement induced by islam and she will never sufficiently recover to stand trial because her disease is incurable.

She has done an outstanding job of fooling the pros but I don't believe for one moment that she doesn't understand the charges against her. She lived in this country long enough to obtain several advanced degrees so she damn well understands English. She had no problem obtaining her education here, probably at taxpayer expense, and she was about to put all that erudition to good use by killing thousands of American infidels. She is playing a con game with the feds and is well-equipped to pull it off. She knows exactly how to behave; that's her specialty.

Metally ill? Not even close. This ticking time bomb has been well eductaed, well trained and this plot well planned out to do excactly what it has done. Stir up a ton of sympathy for this poor, mistreated miscreant(sp?) of a privileged muslim and American upbringing. Talk about using our own system against us! That is what the islamofacists do so well. Besides blowing up innocent people, amnong other things. She will refuse to recognize our legal system as it is not islamic, sharia based. Our taxes should NOT be wasted on some muslim who is trying to bite the hand that has given it a plush and SAFE life far away from the true islam that would kill her in a heart beat if this had taken place in just about any islamic country. I agree, deport her ASAP, and I think Sudan or Somalia would be a great FITna for this islamically distrubed woman.

She understands advanced neuroscience but not the cold, steely hand of the law. Sounds about right to me. Even when Mohammedans are brilliant they still lack the logical faculties of five-year-olds.

Posted by: jdamn [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 19, 2008 6:06 AM

Tell the US Gov't to send her back to her choice of her cespoolstan. l am sure her people will take good care of her. she can live among those she defended.

"...Aafia Siddiqui is not mentally competent..."

No muslim terrorist is mentally competent. But I'm sure she knew exactly what she was doing. There is no reason she should not be standing trial.

I guess she came to the conclusion that Islamization was just peachy keen for women. Just look at all the opportunities it has offered her, unlike the unclean, Infidel "Great Satan".

Locked up in the prison of her "mind"

Another willing "useful idiot".

Have her mental state assessed by a team comprising the following: Wafa Sultan; Nonie Darwish; Ali Sina; and Fr Zakaria Botros. Phyllis Chesler might also form part of the team.

These people *know* what sanity is, and is not. Three of them are apostates from Islam with razor-sharp minds, totally disillusioned.

It would be *fascinating* to see whether and how long Aafia could maintain whatever game she's playing, if cornered by a bunch of apostates from Islam (all three with psychological/ psychiatric expertise), by a Jew, and by a Christian priest who's got a huge price on his head because he spends his TV show exposing all of Islam's dirty laundry.

Video the entire session, however many hours it takes, and then get Paul Ekman and his team of 'Facial Action Coding System' analysts to go through it, watching her face, frame by frame by frame.

Perhaps these words from Charles Williams' eerie novel, 'All Hallows Eve', concerning a practitioner of black magic, may be applied to Aafia, as regards her intelligence and her studies in neuroscience, on the one hand, and her 'possession' by the Lie, on the other:

"Illusion, to the magician as to the saint, is a great danger.

'But the master in Goetia has always at the centre of his heart a single tiny everlasting illusion; it may be long before that point infects him wholly, but sooner or later it is bound to do so."
