Rowan Scarborough reviews Stealth Jihad in Human Events:
Since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, Robert Spencer [whose “Jihad Watch” is featured weekly in HUMAN EVENTS] has been a one-man warning system against radical Islam.A scholar who has spent most of his professional life studying Islam, his string of books dissects the world's largest religion as a bastion of intolerance and hate, justified by the teachings of spiritual leader Mohammed and various holy men.
As one of his previous titles, the "Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam," suggests, Spencer does not buckle in fear of the type of backlash that can materialize as a death-threatening fatwa against a critical author.
Now comes a new warning from Spencer. In "Stealth Jihad: How Radical Islam Is Subverting America without Guns or Bombs," Spencer factually outlines how Muslim radicals are methodically undercutting American values of individual freedom, quoting leaders of this anti-American movement who say their ultimately goal is the creation of an Islamic state right here in the good old U.S.A.
Say it can't happen? Just look at our kinsmen in Europe. Their guilt, and tolerance for anything anti-Western have nurtured a growing population of fanatics. Mosques have sprung up where firebrand clergy preach hate and violence. Some Muslim neighborhoods have become no-go zones for non-believers who dare not trespass where harsh Sharia law reigns.
"Such segregated Muslim communities are spreading throughout Europe at an alarming pace," Spencer writes.
The author travels back a decade to Toledo, Ohio, site of an Arab youth conference. One speaker is Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. The decades-old Brotherhood here, and abroad, has been a spawning ground for Jihadists, both outwardly violent or stealthy converters."We will conquer Europe, we will conquer America," Qaradawi told the young. "Not through sword but through Da'wa [Islamic proselytizing]."
Spencer interprets: "This is the Brotherhood's agenda for Western countries to conquer them by stealth."
Not all Islamists want to wait for the fruits of a stealth Jihad. Seven years ago, 19 Islamic fanatics struck this country. Al Qaeda cells still plan to attack American again.
That's why Spencer's findings are more important than ever. Americans should be as vigilant as ever. But, in fact, Muslim radicals are beginning to achieve victimhood status. It's not only the pages of the ultra liberal New York Times, Hollywood and various Islamic activists that are anointing the newly aggrieved. Even within the supposedly hard-line Bush Administration, bureaucrats are pushing to end the phrase "war on terror" and to vanquish such terms as "Islamic terrorist."
Look at the sympathies our popular culture bestows on horrible Muslim regimes, such as the one in Sudan. In 2007, a British school teacher, Gillian Gibbons, was a jailed for "insulting religion." Her crime: She allowed students to name a teddy bear "Mohammed."
On ABC's "The View," you might expect the collection of liberal hosts to come to the teacher's defense. But here's what Whoopi Goldberg said: "I find that maybe we are not -- and I say 'we' just as European and Americans -- we're not as anxious to learn the customs before we go places. It's just one of the reasons we're called the ugly Americans."
This, of course, falls right into the hands of the likes of Osama bin Laden, who view such debates as sure signs of Western weakness and ultimate defeat. He is counting on our guilt.
How is "Stealth Jihad" revealing itself in the U.S.? Spencer lists the ways: There was, for example, the notorious case of Islamic lawyers’ filing a law suit to punish a group of airline passengers who dared to question the suspicious behavior of some fellow travelers. Thankfully, Republicans in Congress came to the rescue, forcing Democrats to go along with them in passing legislation to protect passengers from such frivolous, and intimidating, law suits.
The list goes on. Muslim cab drivers suddenly discover that some passengers actually carry alcohol. The cabbies refuse service. How do local town fathers react? They try to reach an accommodation rather than doing the right thing and pulling the drivers' permits.
Then there's the case of Lina Morales, whose crime was to eat a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. Her company's CEO, a Muslim, fired her for eating pork in the work place. "Our point of view," he said, "is to respect the laws of the land and the laws of the land as I understand it is to accommodate people's right to practice their religions if you can."
In California, seventh graders get to read "History Alive! The Medieval World and Beyond." This is how the book describes Jihad: "Muslims should fulfill jihad with the heart, tongue, and hand. Muslims use the heart in their struggle to resist evil. The tongue may convince others to take up worthy causes, such as funding research. Hands may perform good works and correct wrong."
Spencer went through the book and reports, "It gives no idea that Muslims have ever viewed jihad as involving, in whole or part, warfare against unbelievers, or have ever waged war on that basis."
At the center of "Stealth Jihad" in this country, Spencer argues, is CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations. With chapters across the U.S., CAIR has emerged as a sort of American Civil Liberties Union -- but just for Muslims.
The author make the case that the organization is really a front for hardened Islamists who want the destruction of Israel and the end of Western democracies.
Of course, CAIR fetches sympathetic treatment from the New York Times and other liberal publications. But what is most troubling are the sympathies that lie within federal and local governments. The FBI uses CAIR representatives to teach agents about Islam. So do state and town law enforcement agencies.
This alliance comes even while the Justice Department labeled CAIR an unindicted co-conspirator in its prosecution of a Dallas charity it says is a front for Hamas, a U.S.-designated terror group.
Spencer offers a way to stop this creeping Islamization of America. But his proposals seem unlikely to take hold. For example, he urges Americans "to take pride in our own culture" at a time when the political left, which thrives on blaming-America-first, is about to take control of Washington.
He suggests that we "end Muslim immigration into the United States" -- a measure not likely to be endorsed by Republicans, much less Democrats.
Spencer leaves readers with a dire scenario unless some action is taken.
"If Western Europe does become Islamized, as demographic trends suggest, before too long America will be facing a world that is drastically different and more forbidding than today. And the same process of Islamization will proceed here -- unless enough people wake up in time to head it off."

Hello, Robert.
Have been giving thought to the whole Stealth Jihad thing.
Here is what concerns me and where I take exception to the characterization.
When observers fail to recognize, all is "stealth."
For almost all intents and purposes, the whole world operates in stealth mode for an ostrich whose head is in the sand.
For almost all intents and purposes, all forms of jihad operate in stealth mode for a population whose heads are in the sand, or up in another place depending on one's perspective.
It is not as if the jihadists are keeping silent about their goals or even their methods. They are, as I see it, proclaiming loudly to an audience with deaf ears and acting boldly before those with blind eyes.
I understand that Stealth Jihad is catchy.
But, in my opinion, the truth is that we are falling victim to Permissive Jihad.
The jihad cat is wearing a bell about its neck. Most simply are not listening.
Exposing the alleged stealth will not lead to resolution.
Opening the eyes and ears at least has a shot at it.
(BTW, don't change the title - it is catchy.)

I think 'Stealth Jihad' is the perfect term. It is a fine complement to the 'Big Bang Jihad' which we've struggled with for quite a while, and 'Stealth' invokes exactly the kind of alertness we need.
It's about all those tiny, seemingly benign things, like piggy banks going away, halal food being introduced, no pork on airflights (I usually ask for it anyway) etc. Stuff that's not headline-worthy.
We have work ahead of us...

I remember when the Stealth Bomber was shown to the world. I felt it somewhat defeated the whole 'stealth' ideal by showing it off like that, but somewhere down the line, we are best off if our ears are trained to hear the squeaky sneakers in the tall grass.

As one of his previous titles, the "Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam," suggests, Spencer does not buckle in fear of the type of backlash that can materialize as a death-threatening fatwa against a critical author.
And therein lies the rub to the whole mess: The 6th Pillar of Islam.
Courage is in short supply these daze. Maybe that's a result of the intellectual cowardice so ardently taught in our schools nowadays -- in the form of Marxist conventionalism, which for several reasons is eerily congruent with Moslem activism.

Interesting to read a few of the comments below Rowan Scarborough's review of "Stealth Jihad" at Human Events, in particular; Dave from Florida.

Webster's Stealth Def:
the act or action of proceeding furtively, secretly, or imperceptibly with information, the state of being furtive or unobtrusive.
It works for me, the use of the word "imperceptibly" defines the misleading messages that are put out by the masters of deceit (taquiya), and half truths (kitman) quite well.
To open the door and see through the stealth,is like using a better radar to see the stealthy image of a F117 Nighthawk --Your radar image will grow if you read the Quran and the Hadiths. ,then and only then will you be able to penetrate the layers of radar deflecting materials that distort the image.

Mr. Spencer; First of all thank you for all of your work to educate all about the dangers of Islam.
I have just started reading your new book, "Stealth Jihad," but first thumbed through it looking for any reference to Brigitte Gabriel's organization, ACT! for America, ( www.actforamerica.org ) the "action arm" of American Congress for Truth. I'm an active member of that organization and was surprised that you didn't mention it, especially in the last "chapter" of your book: "Conclusion: What Is To Be Done?"
ACT! for America is actively "doing" by helping those of us who want to oppose this "stealth jihad" to organize and coordinate our efforts on a local and national level. She spells out many of those in the last chapter of her recent similar book, "They Must Be Stopped."
In a recent email to all members she noted the progress we have made in the last year. ACT! now has 240 chapters and over 50,000 members that are spread across the USA.
Was there a reason for the omission in your book?
We do have mutually supportive goals, don't we?
Again, thanks for your work. It was your book, "The Truth about Muhammad," (Piss be upon him) that first opened my eyes to the reality we face.
Cheers!

He suggests that we "end Muslim immigration into the United States" -- a measure not likely to be endorsed by Republicans, much less Democrats.
The only way that Western nations can now protect themselves in a reasonably peaceful manner. All else will require the expenditure of blood - a civil war.
Mr Spencer
Many thanks for the great work you are doing in the face of ignorance, unbelief and hostility, even death threats.

Thors Hammer:
Was there a reason for the omission in your book?
Many apologies. There is no significance to the omission other than that I was giving general goals, not specific recommendations. I have great admiration for Brigitte Gabriel, support her work 100%, and am glad that ACT for America exists.
We do have mutually supportive goals, don't we?
Yes, we do.
Cordially

I lve in a large complex of buildings where there are not very many muslims. We attended the first community picnic to meet the neighbors, kids have contests etc. There were two lines for burgers. One was veggie and the other I assumed was regular meat. I noticed after it was halal. I wanted to vomit. So hundreds of people had to eat halal because of the handful of muslims there. Shame but we're not going next summer. Yup the muslim appeasement never stops.

her former employer needs to go back to what ever sharia ridden hell hole he came from his right to his religious practices ends at his nose he does not have the right to force any to follow sharia law against pork any more that a jewish employer would

Robert thanks for all your books and I hope you are working on the next one! Keep them coming! They get more popular and more widely read with every new title!
Also thanks for the kind words about ACT for America, I want to join a group like that and didn't know one existed.

One more time , Robert Spencer is right.
What I love about him is that, so far not a single so called Muslim scholar was able to prove him wrong .
Robert is gifted and blessed.
He needs help. We must take this book all over, in churches and libraries.

have you ever read C S Lewis's little book "The Abolition of Man"? He saw this whole thing coming down the pike.
Not Islam as such (though his children's novels 'The Horse and His Boy' and 'The Last Battle' suggest that at some level he sensed the approach of the Third Jihad), but the loss of courage - one chapter of the book is entitled 'Men Without Chests'.
His diagnosis of the corruption of education, then (1950s, 1960s) proceeding apace, is telling. In fact, he begins his book by analysing a typical passage from a bog-standard school textbook and showing exactly what is wrong with it.
Nevertheless: I have hope. Because I remember that at least two generations of western youngsters have soaked up J R R Tolkien's "the Lord of the Rings' (recently brought to people's attention anew, through the film version) and that another whole generation, since 1990, have eagerly lapped up the Harry Potter books and movies: because both Gandalf in the one, and Dumbledore and Harry in the other, are living examples both of courage, in its most adamant form, fortitude, endurance, and also of how to awaken courage in others.
Curiously, both Tolkien and Rowlings use the imagery of Fire - Gandalf has the Red Ring of Fire "to rekindle hearts in an age that grows cold", and Rowlings gives Dumbledore the fiery Phoenix as both pet and patronus (angelic protector); Harry's wand is 'holly and phoenix feather'.
Subliminally, children and young people all over the English-speaking world, and beyond it, who have read those books have soaked into their bones, into their subconscious, something of what it is like to go into battle to the finish against a merciless - and totally evil - adversary, an adversary that has utter contempt for love, for truth, and for the sanctity of life. It may be that that 'literary programming' - which has effortlessly slipped past the academic gatekeepers - may spring to life in their souls, and enable them to be brave, in the not too distant future.
Here, from 'The Order of the Phoenix" is an exchange between Harry and Hermione, after Hermione has asked him to teach some practical self-defence classes:
"You don't know what it's like! You, neither of you - you've never had to face him, have you?...The whole time you're sure you know there's nothing between you and dying except your own - your own brain or guts or whatever - like you can think straight when you know you're about a nanosecond from being murdered, or tortured, or watching your friends die - they've never taught us that in their classes, what it's like to deal with things like that..."
"Harry', Hermione said timidly, "don't you see? This...this is exactly why we need you...we need to know what it's r-really like..facing him...facing V-Voldemort".
Or...facing the Jihad.

Thank you for that link. I'm still reeling. How long will it take for the current political leadership to pass from the scene and sense returns? I suspect it's partly a generational thing - the generation of the 60s and 70s finally achieved power and are getting to play out the fantasies of their youth. The old forces of the Left vs Right are rather like the Byzantines vs the Persians in the 7th Century - so intent on battling each other they didn't notice the forces of Jihad sweeping up from the South until it was too late. Somehow I rather think the forces of jihad would identify with and be pleased by this historical analogy.

I agree. They will look at that video and not feel ashamed but laugh.
"I'm still reeling."
Really shows how we have to keep going on this and keep together.
I hope you are right on the generation thing, although the younger generation now has been subjected to the Bill Ayers award winning school plans for their entire lives.
