How nice to know that the difficulty with TypeKey does not constitute one more nail in one's own mental coffin.

It has been very frustrating.

I lost some brilliant, cogent and beautiful prose the first time I pressed "Post" and got the error message.

But, it has worked ever since then, although I make a habit to copy what I want to post before I hit that "Post" button.

I've posted this before, but see whether this helps.

In a separate tab/window, go to typepad.com and sign in from there. Leaving that tab open, go to JW or DW separately in another tab, sign in there (you again need to enter login and password for TypePad) and then start posting. Do a preview and confirm that you aren't signed out, and once you confirm that, then post. Granted, it's a lot more long winded than previously, but this method guarantees that you won't be kicked out.

I've made TypePad.com my home page, so that when I go to IE, I log in there first before I do anything. Note that even this may sometimes be intermittent - for this post, I had to sign in again. Really sucks!

Under TypeKey, once I opened typekey.com and logged in, I didn't have to log in again under various sites that use it, like debbieschlussel, altasshrugs, pajamasmedia. I just had to sign in and automatically, the editor opened in the new page. With this monstrosity, I have to log in twice - once under TypePad.com, and again in this page. Grrrr!!!

I notified typepad (or whatever it is now) Sunday. It worked on Monday morning. Later on Monday it ceased to work. Now it works again. Catch as catch can.

I just sent them a complaint using Richard's link above. I had to make 5 sign-in attempts before I could post in the thread in DW about the mosque proposals in Athens (Reciprocity). It seems to have gone worse.

Incidentally, when I was about to submit my question, it offered some supportive links about leaving comments, and I checked one of them. It was about smart comments, and having things like our profiles next to our comments. Neat as that would be, it would be nice if TypePad could first ensure that elementary things like Signing In worked. Although buttons that enabled me to highlight and then italicize, embolden, blockquote, link, strike-out and enumerate would be really cool. But get the first things right first.

P.S. Agree with Goobs - it would be nice if we could edit comments.

I also refreshed my memory in the process as to my login name, which I had forgotten because of having cached it in the browser.

I've been trading email back and forth with TypePad folks for about 4 iterations now. They are a useless bunch and their ineptitude is bringing down the blogosphere. Here is their latest reply:

I have noticed that "signing off", then "signing in" allows the post to work properly. That leads to the trouble being a (possible) "cookie" issue,

Those who delete them at close of I.E. may see the trouble go away. Mabye.

"This sounds like it's related to a template issue that we're seeing on some weblogs. The Connect team is working on a resolution for this inside the application, so that the template issue won't log you out of the commenting system. I don't have an exact day for when this will be implemented but we expect that to happen soon. Thank you for your patience."
