Mumbai police: Last Taj hotel jihadists killed

Not all news organizations are ready to declare the siege over at this point. "Taj operation over with all militants dead, police say," from France 24, November 29:

Indian commandos on Saturday killed the last Islamic militants holed up inside Mumbai's Taj Mahal hotel, ending the more than two-day assault on India's financial capital, the city's police chief said.
"All (combat) operations are over. All the terrorists have been killed," Mumbai police commissioner Hassan Gafoor said, 59 hours after the attacks began.
Extremely heavy gunfire had been heard from inside the hotel at dawn Saturday, with a major blaze also breaking out as Indian commandos fought to clear the building of Islamic militants, an AFP correspondent said.
Massive flames in the ground floor and first floor of the hotel appeared to be spreading rapidly though the building, the last area in Mumbai where gunmen were still holed up more than 58 hours after coordinated attacks rocked the city.
Firefighters rushed to the historic hotel, a large part of which was obscured by a huge cloud of smoke.
Military sources had earlier said that commandos were fighting up to three heavily armed militants left inside the hotel.
On Friday, Indian security forces launched massive assaults on Mumbai’s Chabab Jewish centre as well as the Taj and Oberoi hotels on Friday to hunt down the remaining terrorists responsible for a deadly two-day hostage drama in India’s economic capital.
At least 155 people – including two French nationals and two US citizens – were killed and about 370 others wounded in a series of coordinated attacks across the city.
At the city’s landmark Taj Mahal Palace hotel, FRANCE 24’s Lise Thomas-Richard said the fighting had been intense during the peak of the operation. “We are reaching the final stages of the operation on the Taj Mahal hotel,” said Thomas-Richard. “I hear explosions or shooting every two minutes.”
Earlier, police found explosives capable of causing "major damage" after regaining control most of the Taj Mahal hotel from armed militants, a senior police official said Friday.
Commandos exited the luxury hotel shortly after the assault and were greeted by a cheering crowd, but fighting soon resumed inside the building.

Only the dead have seen the end of war.

This is going to further ruin India-Paki relations. And they have nukes.

How many dead until the world realizes the jihadists cannot be placated except with our blood and our freedom?

.............................

Uh, what does this mean? Was the crowd cheering because the Jihadists were being routed, or were these sympathizers cheering them on?

Posted by: gravenimage [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 28, 2008 11:24 PM

Sounds like the crowd was lending support to the commandos to me - as you'd expect, I think.

Posted by: kc8ukw [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 29, 2008 12:14 AM

The commandos are the army, so I would hope that the crowds would be lending them support. The way it looks on the news is such that the front line is the army, and the reporters, the camera people especially, are right behind them.

Sheesh. I just heard Alan "douchehat" Colmes asking an Indian reporter who was live on the ground as the flames erupted and then were put out whether she thought that the terrorists could be "Hindu militants or Tamil separatists." She handled the answer perfectly by pausing for a second to give the camera a look of disbelief before deciding to act as if she hadn't heard him, after which she quickly resumed recounting what was happening. She called the firetrucks "firetenders," which I found adorable.

I was reading through the Australian news report, which is recycled from AFP.

Notice the wording of this paragraph:

"Around 18 foreigners were among the dead, including two Australians, Israelis, two Americans, two French nationals, a German, a Japanese, a Canadian, a British Cypriot, an Italian and a Singaporean."

Look carefully. AFP specifies the number of dead for each nationality - EXCEPT the 'Israelis'.

I can do sums. Two Aussies plus two Americans plus two French plus one German plus one Japanese plus one Canadian plus one British citizen plus one Italian plus one Singaporean = twelve.

Eighteen take away twelve leaves SIX.

Let's rewrite that nasty, sly little paragraph the way it should have been written:

"Around 18 foreigners were among the dead, including six Jewish Israelis, two Australians, two Americans, two French nationals, a German, a Japanese, a Canadian, a British Cypriot, an Italian and a Singaporean."

That way, blind Freddie can see the obvious: that of all the foreign nations whose citizens were murdered by the jihadists during this violent ghazi/ razzia in Mumbai this week, it was ISRAEL - tiny, tiny Israel - that lost the most people.

One can see, also, the scale the jihadis were employing: non-Muslim Indians, of course, given that this was an Indian city, were butchered in large numbers; but after that, the jihadis made sure to kill quite a lot of Jews.

DDA

Were all the 6 killed in Nariman/Chabad House Israelis? I thought they were a mix of Israeli, American and Indian Jews. The good Rabbi was from NY, his wife from Israel and I dunno about the other 4. But every report I saw about it said 'Jews and Israelis, implying that the Jews in question were Indian.

After all, Mumbai is where most of India's Jews live, and they too used the services of this organization.

Meanwhile, as the mass-murderers were beginning their characteristic means of worshiping Allah, the Jerusalem Post was publishing a report from Tel Aviv University: "Israeli world first: Surgeons weld wounds shut" by lasers; this technique will reduce the chance of infection and speed healing. Please remind me of the last time a university in the Muslim world reported a discovery that will save lives and reduce suffering.

God tells us to help all humanity, and maybe that's why whenever a flood or earthquake occurs, Israeli medical teams immediately ask permission (which they don't always receive) to enter the affected country and start helping people.

More evidence of Islam-inspired depravity:

[Excerpt]

CNN IBN

Mumbai: The terrorists who attacked the Cama Hospital here early on Thursday did not spare the life of even their benefactor who had served them water when asked for.

An eerie calm enveloped the maternity ward at the hospital on Thursday, in stark contrast to the usual cries of newborns there as most of the patients have left the hospital against medical advice.

Two terrorists had entered the hospital from the back entrance with hand grenades and AK-47 assault rifles at around 0230 hours (IST) killing two security personnel, Bhanu Narkar and Baban Ugade, eyewitnesses said.

The terrorist duo, while continuing to fire indiscriminately, went up to the fourth and fifth floors, which house the maternity ward at the five-storey hospital.

One of the two maternity wards was locked from the inside while the terrorists tried to break into another which had been fastened by the women occupying it using a cloth.

Twenty-five women, along with their newborn babies and three other men locked themselves inside a safety room within the maternity ward, refusing to open despite several threats by the terrorists.

After killing two security personnel in the terrace of the hospital, the two ultras escaped to the housing quarters of the hospital where they killed two persons one of whom had served them water when asked for.

I like to read the Talkbacks on the Jerusalem Post, particularly those from Muslim readers.

How do we distinguish a dishonest Muslim from an honest Muslim?

Dishonest Muslim:

Talkback #46. Terrorism is like the Hydra from Greek mythology. Solve the root causes-India needs to solve its Kashmir problem and Israel its Palestinian problem.

Honest Muslim:

Talkback #2. India and Israel must submit to Islamic Rule
India and Israel were both once ruled over as Islamic states or under an Islamic Caliphate and they were following Islamic Sharia Law. Only when the Jews and Hindus submit to Islamic rule, only then will there be peace.

These jihadi Mohammadans are Allah's representatives, giving the kufr world Allah's blessings and peace. 8:39.

For those who can read, the sign over Allah's office door says,'Abandon hope all ye who enter here'. 9:111.

You don't need hope when you have Allah's blessings and peace. 8:12/56:41

You might however want some body armor, and maybe a fireproof suit. 9:5/9:29/4:91/37:19/74:26...On and on...

It's Islam at it's finest...Watch for more displays of Allah's blessing and peace...

the rhetoric will continue to escalate between pakiland and india until another terrorist attack and then the nukes will be loosed and pakiland will burn as will the major centers of india...

india is feed up with the lies and attacks from pakiland and will take action.... how many more citizens have to be murdered before enough is enough????

----

the only thing that will interfere with the india/pakiland nuke war is Israel nuking iran.......

once Israel nukes iran...

the US and russia/china will nuke it out as will the EU and russia/china....

russia intends on reclaiming its status of a major world power even if it takes fighting a nuclear war for russia still has the opinion that it can survive a nuke war....

china does not stand a chance in a nuclear war for russia, the EU and the US will nuke china to destroy her and keep her within her borders....

the world is a changing.... and not for the better...

the world can not live in peace with the violence of islam, the aspirations of russia and china,

and the pending economic collapse of America... which can not be stopped...

the major powers that have nukes will use them when they realize that they will be defeated unless they use nukes... which will destroy the world.... as we know it...

after the war, there will be limited fuel in the US and across the world ..... the US and the remainder of the world will starve.... there will be pockets where individuals and groups will live and survive... will you be one that survives???

are you prepared???
are you armed???
are you ready???

I can see no way that WW3 will not be fought in the near future....

@ ??? (aka, nutjob)

First of all, I want to say how sad and disgusting th news is from India. To use military weapons against innocent civilians is repugnant and not justified under any circumstances.

Second, the scenario described above is foolish and ignorant. For one thing, the US has lots of oil - we just waste so much of it, that we have to import a lot. If we scaled back dramatically and used a bit more alternative sources, we would be just fine. In other words, if we walked to the store on weekends instead of driving or took a bike...not the end of the world. Plus, we could always get more from off shores and Alaska, oil shales, etc. It's just more expensive.

As for India/Pak nuclear war...this also is dumb. No government would support this. They would be much more likely to fight a conventional war, and then resort to nukes when someone is losing badly...

But it is a reasonable guess that the purpose of this provocation is to destroy any hope of Indian/Pak reconcilliation.

Regardless, it is a pathetic, sick society that uses its youth to kill innocent men, women, and children to make a point. It also won't accomplish anything except make some innocent families very sad. Only a mentally malformed fool thinks he accomplishes anything by causing unnecessary pain. This isn't justice, just sickness.

One more thing...the Taj Majal? Interesting choice - let's not forget that this was built by a Muslim tyrant during the brutal Muslim occupation of India. Personally, I think they should remove this stain from the face of India (the "monument" and the hotel).

And with the end of battle comes media post-mortem. The New York Times leads one such story as follows:

*****

Amid Mourning in Mumbai, Questions Over the Response
By SOMINI SENGUPTA and KEITH BRADSHER 12:20 PM ET

As bodies were recovered, troubling questions arose about the apparent failure of the Indian authorities to anticipate the attack or respond to it more swiftly.

*****

To Western media elites the main critical question is not WHO IS BEHIND THIS AND WHAT MOTIVATES THEM? (certainly not the latter).

No. The "troubling questions" for them center around how/why the Indian authorities couldn't "anticipate the attack or respond to it more swiftly." This in essence blames the victim.

It's almost enough to make me hope that the next "audacious" (yes that was the word one an AP account utilized) attack includes one of the major western news outlets. I wonder if that might create a different dynamic in how they report such events?

Future attacks are also sure to be not only "audacious," but "brazen" and "sophisticated" too as they are invariably framed.

NEVER "COWARDLY," "VICIOUS," OR "MURDEROUS." Words reveal worlds.

Oh, if only they would bomb the AP, the New York Times, the BBC, Reuters, and Zogby. In a perfect world.

Kinana

thanks for including that story about the maternity hospital.

Guess what - NONE of *that* particular horrifying detail - an armed assault not just on a hospital, but on a *maternity* hospital - made it onto Australian Broadcasting Commission news. (Just as I don't think the other very revealing story - about the two Turks who were let go unharmed because they were MUSLIMS, whilst three non-Muslim women were taken out and shot - made it onto our news in this country, either).

(I haven't checked our major newspapers to see whether *they* covered it).

Thanks be to god that the jihadists weren't - from the sounds of it - able to break in and attack the mothers and little babies.

I hope that all civic authorities in all major cities in the western world have had a good long think about their 'soft' targets (schools, university colleges, hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, shopping malls) and about the fact that jihadis know neither empathy nor restraint, and will happily butcher non-Muslims in very large numbers - even, and perhaps especially, women and small children.

“Okay. So does that mean this operation was linked to al-Qaeda? Well, no. Not if by “linked to” you mean a wholly owned subsidiary coordinating its activities with the corporate head office.

It’s not an either/or scenario, it’s all of the above. Yes, the terrorists targeted locally owned hotels. But they singled out Britons and Americans as hostages. Yes, they attacked prestige city landmarks like the Victoria Terminus, one of the most splendid and historic railway stations in the world. But they also attacked an obscure Jewish community center. The Islamic imperialist project is a totalitarian ideology: It is at war with Hindus, Jews, Americans, Britons, everything that is other.”

Dear dumbledoresarmy,

Your math is perfect and more so is your observation.
While the event you are describing, took place in Mombay, a 120mm mortar shell hit 6 of our soldiers wounding 3 of them badly (one had his leg amputeted!). The six persons you have counted were massacared by cold blooded killers while the Indian special commando forces FOUGHT their way in to save the JEWS!! One Indian Officer lost
his LIFE during the COMBAT!! Our soldiers are sitting duks for the HAMAS and other scum bags..! Our citizenz in Sderot and settelment arroun Gaza are nothing but mouving targets for them!
I am furious!! I have twins in the IDF... and Mr Olmert is packing his private stuff in the office!..
I salute to the Indian special forces, their commanders and to their BRAVE LEADERS!!!

Let us not forget the fallen!

peas, wakeup and smell the truth.........

man will use nukes on each other in the next war....

it can not be stopped...

the only uncertainty is which conflict will start the next war.....

india/pakiland

Israel/iran

the American/world economic collaspe....

peas, if you can not stomach war, you need to be at ground zero, just pick a major city or military base to be at when the war starts and you will not have long to wait.

it takes 45 minutes for missiles to cross the north pole and t to 15 minutes of sub based missiles to hit the east or west coast....

war is coming....
