Tulsa highway patrolman subdues armed man who "was praying for Allah to help him carry out his mission"

SheldonRobinson.jpg
He thwarted prayers to Allah

"I believe he would have loaded up that gun and gone to town because he was praying for Allah to help him carry out his mission."

In a Burger King in Tulsa, Oklahoma, last week.

"Trooper honored for subduing man with a gun," by Tom Lindley for Tulsa World, December 5 (thanks to James):

OKLAHOMA CITY All Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Sheldon Robinson was looking for was a burger and an oil change on his day off.

But Thursday he got a standing ovation from members of the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority for his heroic actions in between.

On Sept. 5, Robinson dropped his wife and two children off at the Burger King restaurant at 41st Street and Memorial Drive and was pulling into an auto dealership across the street for an oil change when his cell phone rang.

"My spouse told me there was a man inside with a gun, saying he was going to kill everybody," said Robinson, an 11-year veteran of the highway patrol who is assigned to the Creek and Muskogee turnpikes.

Robinson turned around in time to see people fleeing the building, including his wife, who grabbed the couple's two children and hid in a nearby trash container area, closing the doors behind her.

It was only an instant, but Robinson said it seemed like hours before he got his truck turned around and pointed for the Burger King.

"I was relieved to see them in the Dumpster area, but I knew I had to go in there and see what was going on," he said.

Robinson, wearing his trooper badge around his neck and carrying his weapon, parked his truck and peered in the window of the Burger King.

Inside was a man dressed in black. A Glock .40-caliber handgun and a full box of ammunition sat on the tabletop next to him.

Three other people were looking for a way out when Robinson passed
them as he entered the restaurant.

When the man briefly removed his hand from his gun, Robinson, who had approached from the man's blind side, grabbed his arm.

Now alone in the restaurant, the two men wrestled on the floor before Robinson got one of his handcuffs around the man's arm.

"The second one didn't lock in place, so we went down again," Robinson said. "He was a pretty stout guy."

Robinson had the man fully cuffed by the time Tulsa police officers arrived.

"It was one of those deals of being in the right place at the right time," Robinson said. "I believe he would have loaded up that gun and gone to town because he was praying for Allah to help him carry out his mission."

Jerome Norvell Denson, 24, of Tulsa was arrested on charges of attempting to perform an act of violence and possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony. He remains in jail awaiting a preliminary hearing....

We must look at the deeper causes of muslim unrest in cases like this. The marketing of Whoppers in the Muslim community. Rock and Roll music, AC/DC. Women showing their ankles, arms, and going out without male handlers. I await the enlightened wisdom the Obama State Depertment headed by Hillary to show us the error of our ways. Pull us out of Iraq, re-invade Afganistan, Pakistan, the Malagasy Republic, Darfur, Somalia, and get the US out of America. Hail Obamasiah.

Sarc aside - I salute Officer Robinson.

And I'm sure none of us expected any more than a tiny mention of the Allah connection in the last bit of the article

Now if Burger King served barbeque pork sandwiches would this jihadi have even been there?

Posted by: tanstaafl [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 8, 2008 11:40 AM

If President Bush has 'kept us safe' since 9/11, does it follow that President Clinton 'kept us safe' between the 1993 WTC bombing and 20Jan2001?

I think not. Rather, with our borders seemingly wide-open, it is more likely that the terrorists have not attempted another large-scale attack within the USA since 9/11. We cannot be 'safe' as long as the doors are wide open.

Burger King out of Iraq! If these Zionist colonialist Whoppers had minded their own business back in 1947 this never would have happened.

McRib (aka McGristle and McPosing-as-Pork) is back for a limited time. I noticed he didn't target McDonald's.

Safest place to eat is Mickey D's, apparently.

But seriously, this could be related to the Great Ice Cream Cone Jihad of... ah... 2005 or so. BK caved in, but maybe our jihadi didn't get the memo. Similar to the 9/11 jihadis using the Balkans as a justification for attacking their *allies* -- which several hijackers did!

So the officer was not fooled by jihad the 'internal struggle'. He was able to connect the dots...Allah...Prayer...gun...mission...

I wonder if the officer reads JW...

Don't you think it is funny that we all here these excuses of "it is only a few minority of Muslims," that are doing this. Yet these few are always popping up? What is that. The other thing is that this violence committed by Muslims, because of their religion tells them to, is being whitewashed by Media and leaders. The thing is that because of this irresponsibility and recognizing that Islam has failed is to much for Mohammedans pride and ego, will regrettably kill more non Muslims.

I sent the following to the OK State Patrol and OK Department of Public Safety
choffice@dps.state.ok.us and comment@dps.state.ok.us

We must connect with anyone and everyone that jihad touches. These folks will be more awake than the general population and we can bring them into the fold of knowledgeable citizens.

Dear Chief Guillote:
I want to offer my sincere appreciation to your Trooper Sheldon Robinson for exemplary performance off duty in apprehending a man whose likely intend was to fire on civilians in a local restaurant. The arrested man was almost certainly a Muslim carrying out a personal act of jihad against non-Muslims. However, investigation may uncover connections to other unsavory people or organizations. I hope that you are tracking such acts as part of your statistics on crime.

I would ask that you and your colleagues recognize the particular threat of Islam and accept the responsibility to protect and defend this country, our Constitution and the freedoms it guarantees. Islam is not just a religion; it is a totalitarian, political ideology dressed in religious garb. The ideology is defined by the Quran, hadith and sira as implemented under Islamic or sharia law. Islam replaces or subjugates anything non-Islamic. Wherever Islam grows, a state within a state develops and the existing government and unbelieving (kafir) culture is rejected.

At its core, in its founding books, Islam is supremacist in nature, discriminatory in practice, restricts freedom of thought and action and violates universal human rights. Wherever Islam grows, jihad is in play as existing governments and unbelieving (kafir) culture are conquered, by political or violent means. Muslim-Muslim relations are completely separate from Muslim-kafir relations, where deceit is sanctioned. Islam is incompatible with our values and sensibilities of freedom and secularism.

No matter the temperament of individual Muslims, the Islamic community as a whole, the ‘ummah’ drives the process of Islamization in every country where Islam thrives. Violence, legal intimidation, sedition and subversive behavior are common and strategic. There is no room to list the violent acts of Muslims against non-Muslims in the name of Islam (now more than 12,000 incidents worldwide). Islam and it tenants are the antithesis of our country’s history and free thinking traditions and its growth will suffocate future intellectual, cultural and artistic growth.

Thank you for your commitment to public safety,

US Citizen

I'm glad the trooper did what he did and the bad-guy's off the street for now.

But I've wrestled men into hand-cuffs in the past and it's no easy task alone.

Nobody helped him?

C'mon people. We're all in this together.

Posted by: undaunted [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 8, 2008 12:31 PM

Oh great. The shaheed has been denied at least 72 Whopper Virgins. I hope like aitch-ee-double-toothpicks that the trooper is fired for being Islamophobic.

Same old, same old. Unfortunately, people here in Oklahoma are about as clueless as the rest of the country in regard to what Islam really teaches. (Which is why I try to tell people as much as possible.)

Sahih Muslim, Book 19, Number 4294:

It has been reported from Sulaiman b. Buraid through his father that when the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) appointed anyone as leader of an army or detachment he would especially exhort him to fear Allah and to be good to the Muslims who were with him. He would say: Fight in the name of Allah and in the way of Allah. Fight against those who disbelieve in Allah. Make a holy war [jihad], do not embezzle the spoils; do not break your pledge; and do not mutilate (the dead) bodies; do not kill the children. When you meet your enemies who are polytheists [i.e., Christians, for believing in the Trinity], invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them. Then invite them to migrate from their lands to the land of Muhairs and inform them that, if they do so, they shall have all the privileges and obligations of the Muhajirs. If they refuse to migrate, tell them that they will have the status of Bedouin Muilims and will be subjected to the Commands of Allah like other Muslims, but they will not get any share from the spoils of war or Fai' except when they actually fight with the Muslims (against the disbelievers). If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya [the Muslim form of extortion, or protection money]. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the "tax" [extortion], seek Allah's help and fight them. When you lay siege to a fort and the besieged appeal to you for protection in the name of Allah and His Prophet, do not accord to them the guarantee of Allah and His Prophet, but accord to them your own guarantee and the guarantee of your companions for it is a lesser sin that the security given by you or your companions be disregarded than that the security granted in the name of Allah and His Prophet be violated. [In other words, it's okay to break your vow of protection later if you don't invoke Allah's name.] When you besiege a fort and the besieged want you to let them out in accordance with Allah's Command, do not let them come out in accordance with His Command, but do so at your (own) command, for you do not know whether or not you will be able to carry out Allah's behest with regard to them.

Guns?
Wanting to kill everybody?
Praying to Allah to help him carry out his mission?

Has no-one told this Denson guy that Islam is a religion of peace and that jihad is an inner spiritual struggle?

People might get the idea that Islam is a violent death cult followed by deranged homicidal psychopaths.

Posted by: watling [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 8, 2008 12:48 PM

Robert:

In the hadith I posted above, where it says "do not break your pledge," is it correct to assume that the 'pledge' is the pledge to fight against the unbelievers ... and if not, what pledge is it?

..........................

Trooper Sheldon Robinson gets a standing ovation from me as well--this is the very definition of a hero--someone who walks bravely into a situation that others are fleeing.

Also, while I have no reason to think that Officer Robinson is well versed in Jihad ideology, it is clear that he knew exactly what those prayers to Allah portended:

"I believe he would have loaded up that gun and gone to town because he was praying for Allah to help him carry out his mission."

Bravery and common sense thwarted what would have been a massacre.

My only concern now is that Denson will plead insanity. After all, who but a crazy person would walk into a Burger King restaurant crowded with families, start waving a Glock around, and rant about Allah?

Exactly.

When you attempt to assist in an adrenaline filled situation like that, if assistance is not wanted by the officer, you'll be informed, usually in some unmistakable manner. But make the offer. Otherwise, like Ben Franklin said, we either stand together, or hang separately.

Do any of us think that the open borders under Bush will change under the big O ? It's bad enough we have the president sending a US Atty down to the border to jail our Border Agents for stopping the flood of illegals like the Crusades repelling the hoards, with O it will extend to interior enforcement and a hands off approach to anything muslim, especially with Rashid Khalidi roaming the halls of the white house!

As another poster said at another blog, had that brave Trooper not disclosed the gunman's quote to the press, would we even know if the incident was related to islam?

"It was one of those deals of being in the right place at the right time," Robinson said. "I believe he would have loaded up that gun and gone to town because he was praying for Allah to help him carry out his mission."
Nice to know there are still Islamically smart people in town:

Praying for Allah ==> carry out mission ==> load the gun.

If he knew that without reading JW or similar sites, he's indeed brilliant!

Posted by: Infidel Pride [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 8, 2008 5:30 PM

A good man indeed was at the right place at the right time and subdued a bad man who was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Had the bad man been a Presbyterian, a Buddhist, a Catholic, a Jew, a Hindu, a Sikh or anything but a Muslim the chances any of this would have happened in the first place are as statistically close to zero as one could get without actually being at zero. Again, the "but for" cause is Islam.

I recently took my 8-year-old son to a Cub Scout "go and see it" at our local police station. The officer who hosted us did a presentation on crime prevention, home defense and personal safety. One of the points that he made was that being seen as vigilant, photographing people, cars and license plates that aren't usually seen on your street, is a great deterrant for burglars. Might be a good idea to be seen keeping tabs on any visitors to muslims who have moved into your neighborhoods.

Posted by: Dave850 [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 9, 2008 1:43 AM

Well, when trying to speak about Radical Islam , I had American born and Jewish people asking me to shut up and cancel the speech. I went on anyway but the same people took pictures of whoever was coming and wrote their license plates numbers
During the speech, one lawyer Mike Boyd made a fool of himself recording and filming the party

When asked to leave , he did not answer and kept on going. The press called the management of the building and was told to stay out of it . They will not access the building.

and guess what was the explanation of those enlightened citizens.

After having ripped off all the fliers, they told me that I should not speak against Islam because it is a religion of peace and the courageous Jewish guy said that "if we start talking about Muslims , they will start again against the Jews "
This trooper should get a medal and be all over the news. It might inspire some others.

Posted by: Tartine [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 9, 2008 9:16 AM

Trooper Robinson deserves a special medal for his bravery and quick assessment of the situation. A zombie of Allah usually won't respect the demands of an authority figure to step down, and it's obvious that this Trooper understood this.

OT: With regard to the Muslims in my neighborhood, I think they're building a new mosque/madrassa, at the other end of my road. Just now, they're across the road, from our place. I believe the new construction is theirs, because while the building isn't quite finished, the cement wall around the property is all but done.

What? Me, worry? ;)
