Jihadist progress: towns in the dark. "Muslim Rebels Bomb Electricity Tower In Southern Philippines," from AFP, January 10 (thanks to Twostellas):
ZAMBOANGA (AFP)--Muslim separatist rebels bombed a major electricity transmission tower in the southern Philippines before dawn Saturday, cutting off power to several towns, the military said.Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels planted four explosive devices made from mortar bombs rigged to a timing device on the National Transmission Corp. tower in the town of Kauswagan on Mindanao island.
Three of the bombs exploded, while the fourth failed and was later recovered by the military, said military spokesman Lieutenant Stefanni Cacho....
MILF rebels were blamed for a series of bomb and grenade attacks during the Christmas and New Year holidays that left more than 40 wounded, and for the burning of over 30 homes in another Mindanao town this week.

How many power outages in Gaza have been caused by Hamas bombings and poorly-aimed missiles? Sometimes Hamas just shuts down the operation of the power plant and blames Israel for "fuel shortages".

It is important that this report should be presented on jihadwatch at a time when all eyes are focused on the Battle of Gaza.
The battles that take place in villages and towns in the southern Philippines, between Catholic Filipinos and jihadist Muslim rebelling against the non-Muslim state (rebelling because, to the Muslim mind, it is offensive if Muslims are not on top and undisputed lords of all they survey), are just as significant as what is happening in Gaza between the Jewish state and the jihadists of Hamas who are proxy for the Ikhwan and for Iran.
Just as the long-term Arab Muslim aim is to destroy the Jewish state and replace it with a Muslim despotism...and then move on to the next target, so the aim of the Muslims in Mindanao is not what the naive suppose it to be, that is, 'autonomy', or a despotic Muslim mini-state in Mindanao (which is one of the biggest and richest islands in the Philippine archipelago).
I assume that the jihadists in the southern Philippines, if given what they say they want at the moment, will then proceed to use it as Hamas has used Gaza and as any Muslim-dominated 'Palestine' in Judea and Samaria will be used - as a staging post for further attacks against the non-Muslim neighbour from which the new Muslim territory has been carved out, with a view to taking over more of that neighbour, and more, until all is absorbed. And then on from that to the next target.
The same applies to the dispute in Kashmir, also forgotten by the world for the moment, and the dispute in southern Thailand between jihad-minded Muslims and the non-Muslim state.
For the jihad does not end and cannot end until the whole *world* has been conquered for 'allah' the war-god of the Arabs, and the whole *world* subjected to Islam, the Arab imperial religion.
