Thank you all for missing me, but I've actually been here all along. I replied to LemonLime last night on another thread and explained my 'absence'. Y'all are like old friends and have kept me occupied and entertained during my convalescense. I decided it would not be prudent to express my opinions here while I was taking heavy-duty pain pills. I never adhere to the speech rules established by the PC Gestapo and Lord knows what I might have said while under the influence of narcotics!...

Re Note 18 on p 41 of 'The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades): Note 18 reads - "Quoted in Jonathan Riley-Smith, "The Oxford Illustrated History of the Crusades", (Oxford University Press, 1995), pp. 250-51." I assume that if Riley-Smith is consulted - and it sounds like the sort of book that should be in any large-ish university library - the specific source should be given there. It should be noted that the PIG to Islam and the Crusades is not intended for scholars but for ordinary punters - such as my brother and his wife, not tertiary...

Hm. These two articles might be worth tracking down. Daniel J Sahas, 'Captivity and Dialogue: Gregory palamas and the Muslims', The Greek Orthodox Theological Review 25, 1980, pp. 409-36, and 'Gregory Palamas on Islam', in The Muslim World, 73, 1983, pp. 1-21. At 'Answering Islam' I found a couple of passages suggesting that the two articles I have just mentioned here are the ones that need to be consulted for that - and perhaps for other juicy quotes....
