This call to prayer is an unnecessary situation. If Muslims don't know when they're supposed to pray by now, then they never will.

There is no reason why an entire city should be forced to endure this howling over loud speakers five times per day. It's ridiculous and town council should be ashamed for ever allowing it in the first place.

There's a Muslim that sits on this council from what I hear. Enough said I guess. This could be viewed as yet another example of Islam trying to jam its beliefs down America's throat.

I hope this gets voted down, and the howls of Islam are silenced.

Would any other religion be permitted to make this noise 5 times a day every day? I think not. In an era when church bells are silenced on Sundays because of complaints, why the special exemptions for Muslims?

I had the misfortune to live for a number of years near a mosque in Luton, Britain, which allowed the broadcasting of this racket. The whole thing even then smacked of nothing but Islamic triumphalism.

I believe the exact time of the Muslim prayers change from season to season as they are tied into the daily movements of the sun. (For example, the evening prayer is supposed to be said when a black thread cannot be distinguished from a white thread by the human eye -- obviously this is later in summer than in winter.)

So therefore Muslims don't really know the exat times to pray from season to season and it seems really important for them to get it exact right to the minute. However there are websites and printed prayer timetables available to guide Muslims. The call to prayer by loudspeaker is therefore not necessary, and is simply an example of Islam marking its territory and establishing its "supremacy" over the infidels. The fact that they are willing to go ahead and do it despite widespread community opposition speaks volumes about this Muslim community's "commitment to peace."

Where is the mighty ACLU? If this were a little child reading a bible story in school they would be all over it.

Just microchip them all and give them a little frisson at the right time of day.

What were watches with timers invented for if not exactly this--and to take medicine, both of which seem indicated here. Heavy sedation would go a long way toward the comfort of the rest of us.

Your right Susan about "marking their territory". What ever the muslims do is for the bennefit of other muslims. The loudspeakers say "this is our territory, we are in control." Any effort to put an end to it will be racisist and they will be victims. Liberal tactics and PC at work.

This is definitely territorial. No non-Muslim is going to choose to purchase property close to a mosque broadcasting Arabic five times a day. All non-Muslims will move out, lowering property values and opening the neighborhood for more Muslims.

It has been nearly three(3) years since 9/11 and we still have not cut off Muslim immigration. The jihadis would really be smarter to avoid an attack on the United States just so they could win by cultural assault and population growth, it would take longer but we seem to be impotent in the face of it.

How about someone paying Ted Nugent's new album, at top volume from a huge loudspeaker, during the entire Friday "sermon"? You can obtain a Minister's licence from internet for $20, set up your own "Church of Loud Music Worship", and go into the public broadcasting of your new faith to the unbelievers. Or at least, to time the broadcast of the "Loud Music Prayers" at the same time of the Muslim broadcasts?

Muslims can only get away with dominating a populace that has been conditioned to accept anything and everything. The true fruit of multiculturialism is death of identity, at least for the host culture. If Americans don't learn to stand up for themselves now, while the standing is easy, then they are preparing themselves and their children, for a lifetime of second-class citizenry if not slavery, the likes of which will make the antebellum era seem like a golden age.

If memory serves me, the mosque has been broadcasting the Call to Prayer but the petition was to increase the volume.

They are entitled to continue the practice as long as it doesn't exceed the volume level they have been using. The level should be checked if they resume the practice to ensure that they are in compliance with the law.

However, if they have not being issuing the call and begin to, then this demonstrates a contempt for US law. This would not surprise me because muslims consider man made law to be inferior and not binding to muslims because it is not Sharia.

The members of the community could picket the mosque in addition to their petition.

Have a few Christians broadcast their prayers through bullhorns, the ACLU would sprout wings and fly there to put a stop to it.

If this mosque proceeds with the call to prayer against the law and the wishes of the community.
I would hope that action would be taken to shut down this mosque if necessary.Muslim are to obey the law the same as all citizens.

Muslims living in islamic countries dont give out any freedom to Christians. For example, It is not allowed to carry a Bible in Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia it is crime to carry Bible.

The main thought that runs through my mind is why would they want to do this now? Right now, when many Americans are nervous regarding possible future terrorist attacks from radical Muslims? If it were me, I would be trying to set the community at ease, not ramp up the tension. You would think they would back off a little, or even offer a compromise of, say, only broadcasting on Friday, their holy day. But, broadcasting Muslim prayer 5 times per day, 7 days per week, NOW? It's almost as if they are deliberately trying to be provocative. I really don't understand it.

Muslims have a zillion internet sites that give them exact time of prayer each day.... please don't try and tell me they don't know when they need to pray without that loud speaker. I suggest that the churches start playing "Onward Christian Soldiers" and a few other good old time hymns through their own newly installed loudspeakers five times a day or maybe all day long and then we'll see who wants some peace and quiet.
