Mrs. Obelix has sent a link to "Don't Worry, We Don't Kill Muslims" with the following comment: "Let's see. After I recite the Shahada in the presence of witnesses I become a Muslim. If I later deny Islam, I can be killed as an apostate. Perhaps it would be better if I just trampled a crucifix or spit on a mezuzah or something." I tend to share her view; I rather suspect that my skin is not worth saving if the price is such a deception.
Nor is this the first time Islamists have specifically targeted infidels. In Malaysia in 2000, for example, jihadists purposefully killed two non-Muslim hostages and spared two others, both Muslims. In Pakistan in 2002, a police chief noted killers “took a good fifteen minutes in segregating the Christians and making sure that each one of their targets gets the most horrific death.” The murderers separated Christians from Muslims by requiring each hostage to recite a verse from the Koran. Those who could not were shot.In all these cases, non-Muslims facing jihadists could have saved themselves by passing as Muslims.
Pipes goes on to give a handy guide to impersonating a Muslim.
It's a pity Frank Gardner didn't get a chance to read Pipes' article. He would have been far more convincing.

I don't know what I would do faced with situations like these, but I hope that I would never say I was a Muslim to save myself.
I would hope I could keep to my values til the end.
I might lose my body, but not my soul.
I read Pipes' article, and was a bit disgusted. I'm not particularly religious, but I'd rather die with the Lord's Prayer on my lips than live after cravenly lying about being a Muslim.
Instead of thinking about ways to keep them from killing us, we should be thinking about ways to KILL THEM.

As Mrs. Obelix points out, to recite the Shahada in front of Muslim witnesses is to become a Muslim, but that is exactly what Pipes is recommending. Isn't conversion at the end of sword exactly what the War on Terror (tm) is fighting against? If reciting a reciting a verse from the Koran would save your life, then surely it better to learn a verse like Koran 5:20-21 which says that God gave the Holy Land to the Jews.

But, I have also had a nother thought pn the subject: perhaps the reason why the Islamic world labors under an incredible load of self-deception, mutual mistrust and other things that keep it "Third World" while Koreans, Taiwanese, and Singaporeans are knocking at the doors of the First is precisely because so much of the Islamic world probably descends from people who succumbed to fear rather than joined a faith.

We all know that isn't true either. The print version of the Arab News through AFP (couldn't find the story on either website) reported that a female Shiite gynocologist in Pakistan was killed in a ride by shooting. It was reported as "sectarian violence".
Either that or another CIA or Zionist plot.

Some "survival" -- being forced to profess a religion you do not believe, knowing that to EVER go against it in the future is to reinstate the death penalty against you.
No, it's far better to live as Heinlein said: "You can't enslave a free man, the most you can do is kill him." To falsely proclaim a faith to avoid being killed is to accept slavery, PARTICULARLY when that religion's very name is "submission".
No, no, no...if I had been a Jew in Germany and I had the opportunity to pretend to be a German Christian to survive, I would certainly have done it!
Then I could join the resistance and help to overthrow the enemy. WHERE THERE IS LIFE THERE IS HOPE! To believe that to fake out the enemy to save one's life or the life of a child is to deny one's true religion well...that's fanatical. No one's God would blame him/her for psyching out these murderers so they won't inflict the results of their crazy 'religion/cult' on you, who just happened to be there. Come on...! Be real...not so fanatically religious as THEY are.
Imagine, what would Jesus really want you to do? Sacrifice yourself and your family because you just can't tell a lie to facists? I doubt it.

1) Say the Shahada. If taqqiya and kitman are OK for Muslims, why not take advantage of them for a week or two?
2) Find a two-bit Imam who will declare the flavor of Muslims who forced your conversion to be "not real Muslims". What the hell, just declare yourself an Imam, or 'spiritual leader' or go for Ayatollah. There's apparently no hierarchy or order to this cult, anyway, so declare the fatwa yourself.
3) Shoot some comfortable number of these types. Since you are now a Muslim, you are not bound by any civil laws, so if you get away with it, fine. Feel no remorse or guilt. Those are infidel states of mind. Besides, when is it ever bad news that Muslims kill each other?
4) Become an apostate and, once again, a happy infidel.
"The most important thing is to survive, you will live to fight another day." I was once a soldier, I will pretend, declaring you are a Muslim, when you are not, to survive, I believe is not wrong. God Bless them, once I manage to get my hands on any weapon, I will go down fighting rather than having my throat slit. I will still die as a Christian, having given a good fight.
