We have come to the point where the Left has managed to take a perfectly legitimate law enforcement activity and delegitimize it.

Now law enforcement is on the defensive, officers have to think twice before they can do one of the most basic steps in their jobs, stopping and checking out potential suspects.

A number of thoughtful people that I know think it will take another major hit to mobilize the people of the United States so that they will put an end to this garbage.

Profiling is done and is absolutly necessary. We cross the border by car quite often and our questioning by border authorities is around 5-6 min including time for running our names...in the past it was under a minute...I dont mind at all the longer wait (adds up to a much longer wait in line) it helps to keep us all safer, if you have nothing to hide then no worries.

I will say that there are many more questions on the US side than the Canadian....but perhaps the Canadian govt will be more sympathetic towards this person with regards to "rights"...also held for 2 days is extreme, they must have had cause for concern, I am certain that not all arabs that travel are subject to 2 day detainment or we would hear alot more about it.

Hmm. It is not likely that clerics would be carrying bombs or be terroists, is it? Remember taqiyya. In any case, people dressed in this manner could get through customs because of the husband's clerical dress, thus making them appropriate couriers. Consider that they also traveled to a war zone. They should have been stopped and questioned. However, the fifty hours might have been excessive. We don't know all the details. I am wondering if terrorists posing as clerics have successfully breached security in the past. Anything is possible in war. We can't be too careful.

If terrorism was being carried out by white Australian men in their 40's, nobody would have any problem whatsoever in them being stopped and given special attention at customs and border crossings. But the Lefties like to play up the "oppressed minority victimized by the nasty white guy" shtick til it makes you want to barf. I cannot understand their obsession with protecting a group well known for causing a lot of murder and mayhem.

We need to profile. It's a part of life now. It's common sense. Stopping 80 year old grannies and 10 year old Chinese kids is a stupid waste of time. As this jihad heats up in America and Europe I expect the "DLR" radar of the ordinary citizenry to tune up. I've seen it firsthand in Israel and in other war-torn places in the world. Having to live like this really sucks but once you realize that it is the DLR's who are here to kill you and your family, you kinda get used to it. Oh sorry, "DLR" = "Doesn't Look Right".

I speak from terrifying personal experience. I lived and worked in Saudi Arabia for five years and have traveled in war-torn countries. I have had a 15-year old kid in fatigues point an AK47 in my face at an impromptu shakedown robbery roadblock in east Africa and have dodged the crossfire in a southeast asian civil war. Once you experience it firsthand, believe me, the DLR instinct develops very quickly. As more Americans and western Europeans experience it, all the PC dhimmitude tendencies will fade in short order.

Yes I've heard about muslim desire to kill Isreali school children and the security measures used to prevent their attacks. I remember being shocked a few years ago upon hearing that kindergarteners require security protection from terrorists while in school.Now I'm no longer shocked, as O"Reilly says we are in the middle of ww3. As part of the war effort muslims and arabs should get use to continued profiling, those who object should relocate to majority muslim countries.

BTW - There are new reports about palestinian anger over the Isreali security fence. Palestinians claim the fence is a land grab. They're really angry because the fence makes it more difficult to get suicide bombers into Isreal.

As long as 80 year old white grandmothers are being stopped and searched at the airports, so too can Muslims. Screeners can legally stop whomever they please...muslims are not exempt...no matter how loud they scream.

When those 19 pieces of islamic crap flew planes into buildings, no one (ok a few) payed much attention, these guys took flying lessons where they didnt care how to land, rented apartments where they met and planned the attacks, they moved about rather easily, no one questioned them, mosques were never suspect, for that matter neither were muslims....NOW it is a much different story.
If a group of young muslim men rented a house next door to me, damn straight I would keep an eye and ear out and report ANYTHING I thought looked suspicious, the local mosque is looked at suspiciously, no longer can muslims move through society invisible...
I also dont think it is a matter of hate (I am sure this is the case for some but not all) it is a case of being suspicious and keeping alert....muslims have had enough time to show us how peaceful they are...and their halfhearted stabs (no pun) at telling us how they are against terrorism....if push comes to shove, a muslim will side with a muslim...sorry if they are offended but I do not want my children blown up at a mall or on a school bus so I guess they will just have to take the suspicion...if that makes me a racist...so be it. It is now clear that the best way to prevent fanatical muslims from committing mass murder using hijacked airlines is to subject all Muslim passengers to extraordinarily rigorous pre-boarding searches. If they raise a fuss, it should be relatively easy to pass a constitutional ammendment indicating that all constitutional rights do not apply automatically to Muslims. Western civilization is at war with a dangerous ideology that is as horrible and brutal as Hitlerian facism and Stalinist communism. IF we are to prevail in this fight, we must have the will to win.

I pray for the day when Arab Christians freely and openly worship across the street from the Ka'aba, Christian churches dot every Turkic country from Ismir to the Great Wall of China, and the Dr. Caners of the world (may there be a billion more of them) will be seen as just so many dark white/swarthy people going about legitimate business.
