In the "rights" section of his thesis, Bebawai should discuss "equal rights," or lack thereof. There would be no equal rights because even Muslims don't have equal rights among themselves. I know many Coptic Christians who fled for their lives after living in peaceful, tolerant Egypt. I also know a few ex-Muslims from Egypt who had to run from their lives. Remember, Islam is a religion with no exit visas. As for this Bebawi, I believe that the word used to most perfectly describe him would be "collaborator." And, I bet that after he publishes his Ph.D. thesis, he will suddenly "convert" to Islam and enjoy a cushy-cushy job at some Islamic university in Egypt and be marched out with his thesis in hand whenever it is necessary...like after another government sponsored pogrom against the Copts.

A Coptic school (I believe for handicapped children) was attacked a few months ago by Egytptian soldiers. A Coptic priest and others travelling with him were attacked and their vehicle went into a body of water, where they drowned. Every day, or every week, there is some attack on Copts in Egypt. How any Copt, such as this Bebawi, who must know the history of his own people, the original inhabitants of Egypt (and how many of those who are now Muslim are simply the descendants of Copts forced, through the slow aspyxiation and persecution of the Christian Copts, to convert to Islam through the centuries? Anyone able to come up with a DNA test to separate out the Copts from the non-Copts? It might be interesting), can behave in such a craven manner should be surprising -- but given the history of dhimmi communities, is not.

The most important book -- one now even being read by soldiers in Iraq, I have been told -- on the subject of how Islam suppressed other religions is "The Decline of Eastern Christianity Under Islam" by Bat Ye'or. Nabil Bebawi is like those terrified Jews who, forced by Stalin, joined "Anti-Zionist Groups" in the late 1940s, to parrot the official Soviet denunciations of Israel, and as well, to deny that there was any antisemitism in the Soviet Union. Bebawi has apparently written a study to show just how wonderfully Islam has treated its non-Muslim subjects. In fact, the entire history of Islam shows that absolutely everyone -- Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, Hindus, Buddhists -- were subject to the same persecutions, murders, impositions of financial, legal, economic, political, and social disabilities, and that these continued until the military might of the European powers, beginning with Napoleon's entry into Egypt, and with the British dominance over Mughal India, helped to improve the condition of the dhimmis -- from the Ottoman Empire to India -- at times fitfully, and always in danger of being undone, as with the massacres of Armenians and
Greeks by the Turks, and of the Assyrians by the Iraqis, and the intermittent pogroms against Jews all over what is so inaccurately called the "Arab world."

It would have been impossible for any Copt, within Egypt, to write the truth about how Copts and other non-Muslims are treated under Islam. But he did not have to write anything. He could simply have shut up. That he did so, that he paid this intellectual jizya, a humiliating and degrading tribute to his Muslim masters, is sickening. But not surprising.

OVERVIEW
At a time when most of the world considers human rights a birthright to be taken for granted, Christians in Egypt have no human rights. Following are some specifically documented abuses, some personally experienced, that Christians in Egypt suffer each day. This will give you a glimpse of the systematic persecution of Christians in Egypt. As most United States citizens are unaware of these facts, this will make you aware of what the United States might be like under Islam. Those who demand an Islamic State want every detail of the legal system and even day-to-day life to be governed literally by the Koran and the lifestyle of Arabian culture in the 7th century. Their relationships with non-Muslims are based on the Koran. If Muslims ever come to rule America, America will face the same persecution and will reap a bitter harvest.

HISTORY
Christianity began in Egypt with Mark's missionary trip around 43 A.D. [the Mark who wrote the gospel of Mark in the Bible]. The Church in Egypt flourished until the Islamic invasion and conquest in 641 A.D. During the reign of Arab and Turkish Muslim rulers, oppression of the Egyptian Christians grew and Muslims destroyed Christian culture and persecuted Christians. In June 1419, Malik Abu El-Nasr, the Muslim ruler of Egypt, reprimanded the Cairo chief of police because of the alleged contempt of Christians toward the laws. It was decreed that infidels (Christians) would not be employed by the government. Muslim rulers issued an order to cut off the tongues of Christians if they spoke their language (Coptic) not Arabic. The Coptic language is the language of the Pharos written in the Greek Alphabet.
Imprisonments, beatings and all types of discrimination against all non-Muslims began in earnest. There were 9 million Christians in Egypt at the time of the Islamic invasion. By 1900, there were only 700.000. This clearly shows the decline in the number of Christians in Egypt due to persecution which continues.

TODAY
+ Christians in Egypt are still living under the 1856 Ottoman "Hamayouni Decree" which requires Christians to get a presidential permit to build or repair a church. Many Christians were arrested for even repairing a restroom in a church without the president's approval. In contrast, Egyptian Muslims may build mosques without restrictions.
+ In Egypt, Christians are not allowed to learn their history, language, and culture in schools and colleges. This practice began in the 13th century and continues today. The history of the Pharaohs and Islam is taught but the seven hundred years of Christianity in Egypt are excluded. Christians are increasingly targeted by Muslims whose goal is to apply the teachings of the Koran regarding killing non-Muslims (Jews and Christians) or force them to convert to Islam.
+ The Egyptian government requires religious affiliation to be shown on national ID cards, job applications and all official documents. This ensures Christians can be identified and prevented from getting supervisory positions, as stated in the Koran:
"Jews and Christians must not be in supervisory positions over Muslims." (Koran 5:51)
+ Very few Christians are appointed to key jobs in the government. There are no Christian governors, mayors, chiefs of police, city council presidents or college deans in Egypt.
+ Christians in Egypt have no adequate representation in parliament. The governing party fails to include any Christians in their list of candidates to parliament.
+ Though Christians in Egypt pay taxes to the government, they are prevented from using government controlled radio and TV stations to broadcast Christian worship services. The only Christian newspaper in Egypt, WATANI (My Home Land), is often confiscated by the Secret Police and has never been given government approval for publication.
+ Christians in Egypt live in fear under martial law. Many Christians are arrested in the middle of the night and are never heard from again.
+ Land that Christians donated to their churches were confiscated by the government in 1952 after a revolution led by Muslims. The income from the cultivated lands had been used to provide for needy Christians.
+ Egyptian Educational curricula at all levels contain demeaning and untrue references to Christians and Christianity. They are discriminated against in government controlled school admissions. Very few Christians are admitted to the police academy or to military schools. Only a few Christians are appointed to teaching assistance positions in medical colleges, pharmaceutical colleges, engineering colleges and all top education colleges. There are unfair practices aimed at Christian students.
+ Christians in Egypt are treated with disrespect in police departments. In their sermons, Muslim clergy
insult Christians and stir up Muslims against them. The government-controlled media conducts a campaign of hate against Christians, labeling them as infidels, creating an environment of hatred and intolerance, in which attacks against Christians are easily propagated.
+ Christians in Egypt are often forced to convert to Islam. Young girls and women are kidnaped and raped to force them to convert. There are reports of police protection being given to the abductors of these women.
+ Christians in Egypt suffer severely from an Islamic law that states that if two Muslim witnesses testify that a Christian became a Muslim, he MUST convert to Islam or he will be punished by death for committing apostasy against Islam. This Islamic law is used to get rid of Christian businessmen or Christians who defend the human rights of persecuted Christians.
+ Christians in Egypt are forbidden to share Jesus with Muslims. Evangelism is a crime, resulting in five years imprisonment. Muslims in Egypt do not have freedom of religion. While Christians may and are often forced to convert to Islam, Muslims are forbidden from converting to other religions. Muslim converts are usually subjected to imprisonment, torture, and possibly death.
+ The Egyptian government does not provide for Christian orphans who are orphaned as a result of one or both parents being murdered by Muslims. When a huge rock fell from Mukattam Mountain in Cairo onto a Christian community, the only help that the government provided was to give each Christian family a single blanket. Christian widows in Egypt almost never remarry and are left without any way of supporting their families because women in general are hardly ever employed, and Christian women are usually denied jobs. There are no government programs to assist these widows. Thus these women are left to the mercy of other Christians, most of whom are also very poor.
+ The Egyptian government does not seriously pursue and punish Muslims who murder Christians. Killers of Christians are never sentenced to the same punishment as that of a killer of Muslims. Even when A Muslim murdered 13 Christians, he did not get the usual punishment for murder. If a Muslim is accused of murdering a Christian, often the court sets him free, claiming there is no evidence to prove he is the murderer. This was the court ruling for Muslims who attacked the Christian village of El-Koshih and killed 21 people.
+ Following are a few examples of Muslim persecutions against Christians of Egypt as the Koran states: "Fight the people of the Book (Jews and Christians) and extort money from them." (Koran 9:29)
in 1992, A Muslim man named Haridi murdered thirteen Christians including little children in the town of Sanabu.
In 1996, Muslims burned down the village of Kafr Demian, only because it was a Christian community.
In 1996, the Egyptian Military destroyed the Christian Disabled Child Center.
In 2000, Muslims attacked the Christians of the village of Al-Kosheh on New Year's Eve of 2000 and murdered twenty one people.
Some of these Christian martyrs were set on fire after they had been murdered.

These are just some examples of the discriminatory practices, abuse of human rights and persecution imposed on Christians in Egypt by Muslims and the Muslim controlled government who justify their action by Islamic law. This horrible picture is repeated in all nations where Islam is dominant. In some Islamic countries, like Iran and Saudi Arabia, it is even worse. Christianity is completely forbidden under penalty of death.

AMERICA NEEDS TO WAKE UP!

That's what we think we heard on the 11th of September 2001 (When more than 3,000 Americans were killed -AD) and maybe it was, but I think it should have been "Get Out of Bed!" In fact, I think the alarm clock has been buzzing since 1979 and we have continued to hit the snooze button and roll over for a few more minutes of peaceful sleep since then.

It was a cool fall day in November 1979 in a country going through a religious and political upheaval when a group of Iranian students attacked and seized the American Embassy in Tehran. This seizure was an outright attack on American soil; it was an attack that held the world's most powerful country hostage and paralyzed a Presidency. The attack on this sovereign U. S. embassy set the stage for events to follow for the next 23 years.

America was still reeling from the aftermath of the Vietnam experience and had a serious threat from the Soviet Union when then, President Carter, had to do something. He chose to conduct a clandestine raid in the desert.

The ill-fated mission ended in ruin, but stood as a symbol of America's inability to deal with terrorism.

America's military had been decimated and downsized/right sized since the end of the Vietnam War. A poorly trained, poorly equipped and poorly organized military was called on to execute a complex mission that was doomed from the start.

Shortly after the Tehran experience, Americans began to be kidnapped and killed throughout the Middle East. America could do little to protect her citizens living and working abroad. The attacks against US soil continued.

In April of 1983 a large vehicle packed with high explosives was driven into the US Embassy compound in Beirut. When it explodes, it kills 63 people. The alarm went off again and America hit the Snooze Button once more.

Then just six short months later a large truck heavily laden down with over 2500 pounds of TNT smashed through the main gate of the US Marine Corps headquarters in Beirut and 241 US servicemen are killed. America mourns her dead and hit the Snooze Button once more.

Two months later in December 1983, another truck loaded with explosives is driven into the US Embassy in Kuwait, and America continues her slumber.

The following year, in September 1984, another van was driven into the gates of the US Embassy in Beirut and America slept.

Soon the terrorism spreads to Europe. In April 1985 a bomb explodes in a restaurant frequented by US soldiers in Madrid.

Then in August a Volkswagen loaded with explosives is driven into the main gate of the US Air Force Base at Rhein-Main, 22 are killed and the snooze alarm is buzzing louder and louder as US interests are continually attacked.

Fifty-nine days later a cruise ship, the Achille Lauro is hijacked and we watched as an American in a wheelchair is singled out of the passenger list and executed.

The terrorists then shift their tactics to bombing civilian airliners when they bomb TWA Flight 840 in April of 1986 that killed 4 and the most tragic bombing, Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988, killing 259.

Clinton treated these terrorist acts as crimes; in fact we are still trying to bring these people to trial. These are acts of war.

The wake up alarm is getting louder and louder. The terrorists decide to bring the fight to America. In January 1993, two CIA agents are shot and killed as they enter CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.

The following month, February 1993, a group of terrorists are arrested after a rented van packed with explosives is driven into the underground parking garage of the World Trade Center in New York City. Six people are killed and over 1000 are injured. Still this is a crime and not an act of war?

The Snooze alarm is depressed again.

Then in November 1995 a car bomb explodes at a US military complex in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia killing seven service men and women.

A few months later in June of 1996, another truck bomb explodes only 35 yards from the US military compound in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It destroys the Khobar Towers, a US Air Force barracks, killing 19 and injuring over 500. The terrorists are getting braver and smarter as they see that America does not respond decisively.

They move to coordinate their attacks in a simultaneous attack on two US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. These attacks were planned with precision. They kill 224. America responds with cruise missile attacks and goes back to sleep.

The USS Cole was docked in the port of Aden, Yemen for refueling on 12 October 2000, when a small craft pulled along side the ship and exploded killing 17 US Navy Sailors. Attacking a US War Ship is an act of war, but we sent the FBI to investigate the crime and went back to sleep.

And of course you know the events of 11 September 2001. Most Americans think this was the first attack against US soil or in America. How wrong they are.

America has been under a constant attack since 1979 and we chose to hit the snooze alarm and roll over and go back to sleep.

In the news lately we have seen lots of finger pointing from every high officials in government over what they knew and what they didn't know. But if you've read the papers and paid a little attention I think you can see exactly what they knew. You don't have to be in the FBI or CIA or on the National Security Council to see the pattern that has been developing since 1979.

The President is right on when he says we are engaged in a war. I think we have been in a war for the past 23 years and it will continue until we as a people decide enough is enough.

America needs to "Get out of Bed" and act decisively now. America has been changed forever. We have to be ready to pay the price and make the sacrifice to ensure our way of life continues. We cannot afford to keep hitting the snooze button again and again and roll over and go back to sleep.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Admiral Yamamoto said "...it seems all we have done is awakened a sleeping giant." This is the message we need to disseminate to terrorists around the world.

Support Our Troops and support President Bush for having the courage, political or militarily, to address what so many who preceded him didn't have the backbone to do both Democrat and Republican. This is not a political thing to be hashed over in an election year this is an AMERICAN thing. This is about our Freedom and the Freedom of our children in years to come.

Please forward this to as many people as you can especially to the young people and all those who dozed off in history class and who seem so quick to protest such a necessary military action.

I remember riding a train recently from (undisclosed location), Florida to Savanah. I sat next to a black lady that taught school in the Bronx, NYC. She explained how the "Hip-Hop" dress styles are 100% taken out of prison culture: the baggy pants (you always get pants that don't fit and not belts allowed in prison), the laceless shoes (no laces allowed in prison), the gaudy jewelry (you've GOT to be REALLY tough to wear jewelry in the can), ugly, long hair (shows you've "been around" for a long time, that you were sentenced for something major... harkens back to the days of having your head shaved when first incarcerated.)

I read online recently that in America, black women are 23 times more likely to have HIV than white women. So the 70% non-married parents phenomenon may not be around in 20, 30 years.

What I said about Thomas, Condi, Colon, etc. is true. They benifited from Equal Opp. and Affirmative Action, now they want to help pull the ladder up behind them.

That's why Bill Cosby REFUSED to sit next to Condi Rice recently at an event they both attended in DC.

I heard Rush, Hannity, or one of those loudmouthed know-it-alls talk about how there are three ways to guarantee success, and not doing them will almost certainly guarantee a life of poverty: Don't have kids until you wed, don't wed until you finsh school, and finish school. He went on to assert that "this is the kind of stuff the liberals DON'T want anyone to know, they want to keep people down and blah blah blah blah."

I thought, I'm liberal, and I'd like to put that message on every billboard in America, shout it from every rooftop, play it on every radio station...Those three things, I tell lots of people, including lots of black people. And most people I talk to agree with me (and Rush or whoever.)

I also agree with Rush when he tells the truth about Arafat. I'll miss ole Rush when he goes to prison. (Don't faint, Ron.)

Though, to his credit, I always admired Cosby for keeping his comedic bits out of the gutter, especailly at a time when Rich Prior, Red Foxx, etc. and later when Eddie Murphy et al. were getting filtier and filthier. (But that Chris Rock is one funny pottymouthed mf-er.)

That's not to say that I hate everything that is profane... I love Frank Zappa.

But when I think of Cosby's commercials, goofing and mugging with jello, it makes me want to ralph.

Affirmative Action is racist and unconstitutional. Martin Luther King Jr. did not ask for preferential treatment, he asked for equal treatment. The Fourteenth Ammendment guarantees equal treatment under the law. The rule of law requires the same rules for everyone, otherwise, some are subject to arbitrary rules, just like the Copts in Egypt and Christians and Jews under Muslim rule.

Get over yourself Keith. BTW, Condi and Colin support Affirmative Action for people of color. I say enough of the white man's burden (which justified slavery [and welfare]).
