Remember, as you read this story, that if all of this is being instituted now, that means it wasn't being done before. Not just English, but "a knowledge of, and engagement with, British civic life" and "professional qualification." And as has been abundantly established, there are clerics in Britain whose only engagement with British civic life is a dedication to subverting it and replacing it with a Sharia state. (Remember Omar Bakri and Abu Hamza?)
From the Telegraph, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
Muslim imams and other "ministers of religion" wishing to enter Britain to work must show a basic command of spoken English, under new Home Office regulations. Within two years of entry, they will have to reach a higher standard as "competent" English writers or speakers, according to the restrictions, which will come into force by the end of next month. The Home Office is also considering introducing a requirement for imams and priests who have been in Britain for a year to show "a knowledge of, and engagement with, British civic life". They may also be required to have some form of "professional qualification".
The restrictions, and the proposals under consideration, have been prompted by Government concern that some foreign imams may be preaching radical teachings, which could incite terrorism.
However, the Home Office announcement yesterday made clear that the restrictions would not be targeted only at Islamic preachers but all kinds of "ministers of religion".
That's good. Watch out for Buddhist terrorists.

'PROMPTED BY CONCERN THAT SOME FOREIGN IMAMS MIGHT
BE PREACHING RADICAL TEACHINGS, WHICH COULD INCITE
TERRORISM...'
My dear, they all are and not so radical: just read the Koran. Makes you wonder how daft Government officials are, doesn't it? Never mind,
a step in the right direction, methinks.

How about a law banning the Quran?

Yes, how about banning the Quran?
When will the government start thinking beyond the end of their nose and finally quit this political correctitude game?

What the UK needs is for Parliament to extend the authority of their monarchy over the British ummah as Commander of the Faithful just as Henry VIII asserted the divine right as Head of the Anglican Church. Since the institution of the Caliph is defunct, having the British monarch assume the function of Commander of the Faithful on behalf of all her loyal muslim subjects would be a generous and magnanimous service to them.

An extreme Muslim group was today warned to abandon plans to stage a demonstration in Trafalgar Square amid fears of a race riot. Ken Livingstone and the London Assembly told the leader of Al Muhajiroun to call off the gathering planned for tomorrow or risk prosecution under London by-laws. Far-Right groups such as the British National Party and the National Front are planning a counter demonstration and the Mayor is worried that the event will descend into violence. Al Muhajiroun triggered outrage in 2001 when it praised the September 11 hijackers as "the Magnificent 17".

Too much of it sounds as if the main requirement is to pass a TOEFL test. A mastery of English may merely make one a more seductive and plausible presence. Tariq Ramadan, that tireless worker on behalf of Da'wa in Western Europe, has a native command of French. Is that a good thing, or a bad thing? One would rather have people whose lack of linguistic facility would be an outward and visible sign of what otherwise may be overlooked -- their inward, and invisible foreignness, based on a creed that not only has nothing to do with, but is actively hostile to, every other religion or belief-system in the world.
NPR has come to rely on the "disinterested" commentary of such promoters of Jihad (even if they are Arab Christians) as Rami Khoury and Rashid Khalidi. Each speaks a passable and plausible English, which may increase their effectiveness.
Far more impoortant would be to require study of the main texts that support English liberties and human rights. The Magna Carta, Locke and Hume and Mill and Bagehot, nicely arranged in a florilegium or anthology entitled "The Basis of English Liberties," after which, class, there will be a test, and not just multiple-choice either. We want to see if you have really learned about these liberties, and come to comprehend them, and even appreciate them -- not that you are simply aware that you can manipulate and exploit some freedoms in order to spread a doctrine that is, in every way, hostile to those liberties.
Those of us who love tests, and love grading them, will be happy to pitch in. The unexamined life is not worth living, said that maieutic and peripatetic Greek. If the minds of certain would-be Muslim immigrants remain unexamined before they are permitted to enter the lands of the Infidels it may be our Infidel lives that, in due time, will not be worth living.
Don't open your blue books yet, boys. Remember: do not look at your neighbor's paper. The time remaining will be put on the blackboard every 20 minutes. No trips to the bathroom unescorted. You may start now.

I think that the Koran would make good toilet paper actually.

Not surprised at all,I've noticed Imam's and various Muslim leaders say one thing in the general media, but then while on a multicultural cable channel I hear the antisemitism and the real agenda for North America. Not all the minority TV shows are in their native tongue, the evening news sometimes has a racist slant to the reporting or crimes and murders. Too many times I see criminals played as victims of systemic racist rule in NorthAmerica, yeah, the fact the kid had a gun and murdered a white store-owner for drug money really helps the case for perceived racist police. Muslims keep pushing the Racism theme on their TV shows and it's working, very few politicians will deny Islam as a race and not a faith.
Norway wants to ban the Koran and Islam from being sold as a credible religion,I hope England's
seen through the scam and starts deporting the blood-thirsty Imam's recruiting ignorant Muslim youths looking for fame within Jihad.
