What kind of screening is being given to the "moles"? How do intelligence officials know that they don't subscribe to the jihad ideology? From Asian News, with thanks to Ali Dashti:
MUSLIM community leaders have attacked a drive by Britain's secret police to recruit north west Asians as spies and informers.The internal security service, MI5, is to set up "intelligence cells" aimed at bringing the so-called war against terrorism into the region's towns and cities where Muslim communities exist.
MI5 officers will work closely with special branch police officers attached to local police forces.The cells are also likely to be responsible for recruiting Muslims as informants for MI5. The MI5 website already encourages Muslims to help in the fight against terrorism and calls on Arabic speakers to join the agency....
But many community leaders claim the spying will create fear in the Muslim community and further isolate it from the rest of UK society.
The chairman of the Lancashire Council of Mosques, Ibrahim Master, said his organisation was surprised and shocked at the measure.He said: "We do not believe the Muslim community are a threat to the national security of Briton. Such fears are totally unfounded. We are law abiding citizens. Such Islamaphobic measures tarnish the image of Muslims and further undermine the excellent race relations we have here in Lancashire."
Totally unfounded? I suppose Ibrahim Master has never heard of Al-Muhajiroun?

This part of the age-old game that Islam plays when it's on the make. They habitually use these tactics to divert attention from their wrong actions and to shift the blame on to the true victims of this predation.
The spying is self defense. If they were truly interested in doing good for Britain, they would ferret out the trouble makers and turn them in.

I have on reliable authority been informed that a significant proportion of all male arabic speakers in the UK have been recruited by MI5 already. The actual number is a closely guarded state secret but my sources tell me that it is higher than 15%. So that means about one in seven chaps that one meets at the Friday prayers in the local masjid are actually British agents.

Music I love these Q&A dialogues between the confused faithful and the learned experts. The Arab News carries a column where readers can pose questions and islamic "scholars" would reply; sort of an islamic Ann Landers. Occasionally a clever expat (or so we supposed) would send in a question that would get past the censors and the befuddled "scholar" would render an authoritative opinion on subjects like what to do with a copy of the koran that accidentally gets a drop of hot bacon fat dripped on it in a non-islamic country. Letters to the editor were also good outlets for venting expat steam and I once saw a classified ad for someone with an obviously ficticious responding address in Jeddah (on the Red Sea which is famous for its scuba diving) looking for a "muff diving" partner. The Saudis didn't have a clue.

I'm in stitches laughing at this quote....fear?? the only fear they will have is that their agenda will be systematicaly flushed out, and they will not be able to carry out their subversive activities as openly as they are currently doing.
The other problem is how do you trust a Muslim to dob in another Muslim?......the disinformation may prove to be more dangerous than NO information.
I say Call the Arab speaking Jews, they blend in well, they know the culture, and they are extremely intelligent and cunning, and they loathe Islam more than any of us.

Yes, the Arab News "Islam in Perspective" page can be a great source of amusement. The first thing you notice is a great obsession with form and appearance - something like the proper way to drink from a glass comes to mind.
Two of my favorite questions dealt with interest and theft. Interest - if you charge 10% interest, that's usury. If you charge 10% as fee for providing the money, that's permissible. Theft - if an item is not secured somehow, and you take it, it's not theft. Basically, if it's not nailed down, it's not theft. And if you can pry it up, it wasn't nailed down. Allah provides. Hey, we could turn that in a "Burma Shave" sign series. (Tells you how old I am.)
