In Iran, it pays to despise the dhimmis. From Reuters, with thanks to Teri:
TEHRAN - Iran has given judo world champion Arash Miresmaeili a $125,000 reward, saying he sacrificed a gold medal at the Athens Olympics by refusing to fight Israel's Udi Vaks, a sports official in Tehran said Tuesday. Iranian state television showed Miresmaeili at an award ceremony receiving the same sum as Iranian Hossein Rezazadeh, who took the super-heavyweight weight lifting gold at the second Olympics in succession."He would definitely have won a gold medal if he had taken part," said the sports official, who declined to be named.
"By refusing to fight, Miresmaeili followed the policies of the country," the official added.

They don't try to hide their hatred for Jews, do they? No hiding behind hoods, no secret meetings. Just right out there. In your face hatred. And the rewarding this hatred! Encouragement and validation of it. Yet if somebody expresses disgust at Islam, based on its brutal and despicable actions, don't expect a monetary or any other reward!
The prick should have been disqualified, but then of course we know what that would have brought down on our heads. Can't do anything to the Islamics, even when they deserve it. They tend to go all feral and psychotic, and it's just not worth the bother. They wouldn't learn anyway.

I guess he will never know if he would have won, but in the mind of millions...HE LOST.
What a proud national hero, a man who refuses to fight another contestant at the Olympics because of his religion. The whole Olympic spirit is lost on this man, and all who cheer for this move.
Islam did not take a step towards being recognized in the civilized world, it just took a chopper back a few clicks. Way to go.

Moose - "In the minds of millions he lost" is indeed true. However, the opinion of the millions of non-Muslims is of no importance to him. He is hero in the eyes of almost one billion Muslims for whom non-Muslims, especially Jews, are too filthy to touch even for glorifying Islam in the name of sport.

Arash Miresmaeili?
Arash?
A... rash? LOL.
He won't have to work for the rest of his life.
BUT, if he had gotten his ass kicked by a Jew (hey Rash, why did you pick a sport called "Jew-do" anyway?) they would have killed him back in Iran.
Whatever became of the Pakistani muslim that joined and Israeli Jew for doubles at some big tennnis match a few years back? He got in some trouble when he got home.
90% of Pakistanis have never seen, and will never see a Jew. But they all hate Jews, thanks to Saudi Arabia and the madrassas.

Judoka,eh? The last two lovers of Chirac's daughter both had something to do with judo. The first was a French judoka. The second, the father of Chirac's new Muslim grandchild, is the brother of a French Muslim judo champion, a judoka. Now Claude Chirac may not manage to stay true to her men, except for Papa, the ex-Howard Johnson's soda jerk turned suave and crooked politician, but she certainly has managed to stay true to her sport.

He most certainly should not be called a "world champion" as this article implies if he refuses to fight to prove and claim that title. He's just a stooge for Iran. In fact, he is a coward, which violates one of the tenants of jew-do. Who care's what an inflated number of 1 billion imaginary muslims say, it's what the other 5 billion people in the world say that matters.
Iran can claim the Iranian womans swim team are world champions too. The problem is, nobody has ever seen those burka babes swim (or drown)

What the hell have the Jews done to this malignant brood ?...I know the nation that needs cleansing and it aint Israel.

What more can you expect from a culture where the defining core value is cowardice?

Hugh, that comment was deeply disturbing and explains a lot about Chirac...
