Little Rock Officials Approve Zoning for Islamic Community

This community will be interesting to watch in the future. No doubt they have been asked for no assurances that Islamic radicals will not take root among them (since the Nation of Islam has often proved to be a transition stage for converts, who then move on to orthodox Sunni Islam, often in its violent forms). No doubt they have not been asked anything about the Nation of Islam's bizarre and obnoxious racist doctrines. So will we see these things developing there? What will prevent it? From KLRT.com, with thanks to Twostellas:

The Little Rock City Board of Directors approved plans to set aside land for an Islamic community. This despite strong opposition from residents who believe this type of community promotes segregation. Although members of the Islamic community got approval for their plans from the City Board of Directors they still did not win over some residents.

Members of the Islamic Center, a branch of the Nation of Islam, got a chance to present their case for building an Islamic community to the city Board of Directors earlier Tuesday night. The group wants to build a community that contains a mosque, a school and 22 homes. However residents in the area along 40th and Potter voiced concerns over this being a segregated community.

Islamic Community Center members say their community is open to anyone, not just those who share their faith. They say they not only welcome other faiths they encourage it.

Okay, let's try this one from a different point of view, filling in the blanks a bit differently:

The Little Rock City Board of Directors approved plans to set aside land for a Christian community. This despite strong opposition from residents who believe this type of community promotes segregation. Although members of the Christian community got approval for their plans from the City Board of Directors they still did not win over some residents.
Members of the Southern Baptists, a branch of the Evangelical Christian Movement, got a chance to present their case for building a Christian community to the city Board of Directors earlier Tuesday night. How many of you think that would be approved?

its crazy but we have to face the stark truth that many usa government officials are PRO-Moslem!

who needs this kind of 'democracy'?

these people are next to hopeless....

This would be a great idea if we could surround the community with 30 ft fence topped with razor wire and have guard towers at each corner and have armed guards and dogs patroling the perimeter and of course the gates only lock from the outside...we could call it 'camp islam'...otherwise its a crappy idea and this small community of 22 homes like a raging cancerous tumor will spread and devour everything in its path.

Reckon this has to do with MONEY, the root of all evil rather than Board of Directors being Pro Islam.Unfortunately there have always been [and always will be ] citizens ready to sell themselves and others for a 'fast buck'.Who is funding this Islamic Community?? Bet our old friends the Saudis have a finger in the American Pie...

How many American principles and statutes does this violate? For decades the Federal Government pushed to eliminate racial segregation as a policy. Granted people live where they want and with whom, but it's not a "policy" to allow segregation by race, gender, religion, ethnicity, age or any other qualifier. Such qualifiers are prohibited, among some, in hiring practices and in fair housing laws. I can't see how this proposal could be legal. it's the same as apartheid.

Muslims that segregate themselves and refuse to assimilate cause the community to look at them with suspicion. The only way to gain acceptance is through truthfulness and transparency, remembering that NOW Americans are familiar with the principles of taqiyya and kitman.

I say let them congregate in one spot. When the time comes, a few walls, a little concertina razor wire, and voila - instant internment camp.

""As one of their (Muslim) spokesmen put it as long ago as 1951 "there is no one town in the whole world where Islam is observed as enjoined by Allah, whether in politics, economics, or social matters." Implied here is that Muslims true to God's message must reject the status quo and build wholly new institutions.""

morgane:

good point. it is the love of money that is selling the west down the drain by its leaders.

where did we ever get the idea that democracies are REALLY "by the people"?

as far as i can see a bunch of little caesars rule in the west.

kaiser bush is the ONE person who needs to be educated about the truth of islam and he could then order an effective remedy before the moslems get too
strong.

but can he read? :)

(just kidding)

I have friends living near Little Rock and decided to forward this post to them. They are aware of the council's approval and felt they could do little to prevent it.

Apparently, I've become quite cynical of the "religion of peace" as I consumed far more TUMS while reading -

"Islam in Arkansas
Muslims talk about the ups and downs of life in our state since 9/11. Most say it's been a road paved with compassion and love. "

than - while preparing my taxes.

Walker Colt brought up an excellent point through his analogy. Where in the US would legal sanction be given - to set aside land and build a specialized community for benefit of one religion or ethnic group?

"Members say their community is open to anyone, not just those who share their faith. "

Does that mean that anyone can purchase one of the 22 new homes being built on that property? I bet not.
