Frankly, if most of the Western world is willing to recognize a union of two homosexuals as "marriage", agrees to homosexuals and singles adopting children, and the like, I can't see why it would crack down on Islamic polygamy.

This isn't really a loophole in the law. The law is clear: such marriages are invalid and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th 'spouse' obtain no legal rights whatsoever.

This is just like a 'common-law wife', a misleading phrase, who has no legal rights.

The ceremony in the mosque has no legal effect, even for the first wife, unlike a ceremony in Church, which also servers as a legally binding marriage. A ceremony in a Registry Office must be performed, and this is limited to one wife.

Quite frankly, if any Muslim woman is stupid enough to go along with this, it's her funeral.

But how long, Interested, before they achieve the numbers to be able to force through a legalization of polygamy as they have in India, although India is a "non-Muslim country?" How long before the "human rights" lobby of leftists start pushing polygamy as a "human right" that Muslims are being unfairly denied? I'm sure there's a fair amount of money to be made on court cases challenging the bigamy laws by the "human rights" lawyers.

And once they get legalized polygamy it is all over for Britain as a nation. They will be able to import four 16-year-old brides from Pakistan or Bangladesh instead of only one. And with each new imported wife producing 8 or 9 kids apiece, you do the math. Britain will be completely overrun. You will lose your entire culture, maybe even your language, as well as being dhimmies in your own land. You will become a Third World nation.

It also shows how little they respect the laws and cultural norms of their host countries.

I don't think it's a case of any Muslim woman being "stupid" enough. She doesn't have much choice I would think. If she's imported from some Islamic backwater, she wouldn't know her rights or what's what. She'd basically be used, like a whore, then tossed away when the bastard tired of her. Onto the next fresh one. The discarded wife and her kids would have to be supported by the State. Eight or nine kids to multiple wives, yes, do the math. Not just population wise, but financially. I doubt these "men" can support multiple wives. From what I've seen, they don't support even one wife and their kids. It's far more lucrative to sit on their arses, popping out kids, on the taxpayer's back.

Outlaw this. Imprison the men, or better yet, toss them back to some Islamic backwater where this is okay. Hardworking taxpayers shouldn't have to put up with this. I read the other week how Britain's pension system is in trouble. Wonder why?

OT but I've been googling to see if there are any places which don't have muslims living in them. So far I've come up with Norfolk Island, Lord Howe Island, Bouvet Island, Heard and McDonald Islands, and Clipperton Island. Oh yes, and the Antartica as well.

As these marriages don't count as legal, Muslim men cannot import more than one wife from 'back home'. So no ignorant peasant girl from the village can be forced into a polygamous marriage in the UK, though of course she can be forced into a monogamous one as such girls often are. And of course ignorant Muslims girls born in the UK may well be forced into such marriages, though they would have no legal rights, or only one of the 'wives' would.

Muslims in the UK are 4% of the population. Even assuming all of this 4% want polygamy, that's nowhere near enough to force through a change in the law.

Of far more immediate concern is the practice amongst Muslims of importing spouses from the home country, even if this is only the one spouse. We should introduce legislation like they have in Denmark whereby all such imported spouses must be over 24. Since this would make a girl and old maid by their primitive standards, it would radically cut down on the number of ignorant breeding machines coming over. Plus such spouses should have a job, a minimum educational level and be fluent in English.

What does it matter whether the children born are legitimate or illegitimate, they pose a danger to us all. Don't become complacent. Remember that in the past small groups, well placed, can have huge impact. An example is the hate speech law that is the result of their worming their way in to the halls of power. Be ever vigilant!

I’ve heard of these marriages in the UK. They are sometimes called “community marriage”. They don’t just use it to get more than one wife, but Muslim men also use it to marry child brides often as young as 10-12 years old. They are very popular in some communities such as Kurdish for example. The marriage might be illegal (and criminal) in the eyes if the law in Britain, but nobody speaks up in the communities. Some teachers are aware of this, but they are powerless to stop it. Neighbours are often aware of very young 10-12 years old "wives" living with their “husbands” next door, but nobody reports it. Apparently there are thousands of these child brides live in the UK, yet nobody speaks up against these “community" marriages.

I agree with Suzan I myself wonder how long before Muslims will demand the legalization of polygamy, and underage marriages as their human right.

When I was at school we were always told that over-population of the world was our biggest problem but now it's the muslims that are breeding fastest none of our educators, media or government dare say a word about over-population. These ignorant zombies over-populate their own islamic hell holes and then come crawling to us to take them as refugees . Unless someone addresses this problem in the next few years then we may as well kiss our environment, our freedoms and our whole way of life goodbye.

Funny thing about the Muslim birthrate... Both the Chinese and the Indians realized that they had to reduce the rate of population growth in order to improve standards of living, as both countries have. But too many Muslims would rather blame their patheticly underdeveloed economies and social problems on foreign exploitation of their oil wealth than recognize that they are responsible for their own misfortunes.

You all are missing one other aspect of this.
In Muslim countries, polygamy is generally for the rich, since they're the only ones who can afford it.
In a dhimmi country, like France or Britain, if the second or third wife isn't legally married, and assuming she isn't going to work, then she and her children are eligible for welfare and child support at the state's expense. The great thing about it is that even poor man can marry on that economic plan, and there's no reason why they shouldn't (I'm assuming most of these UK muslim men importing Bengali brides aren't rich themselves).

That's how it works out in northern Arizona, where a number of polygamous mormon communities have learned to milk the state system for all it's worth. They marry the girls, pop out the babies in large numbers, and they're legally unwed mothers whose welfare checks go to the community pot. You drive out past these economically depressed communities in the middle of the desert, and the people all live in big, two story houses and with tons of young welfare parasites running around.

So we don't necessarily need to worry about muslims agitating for polygamy's legalization. Making them financially responsible for their second or third wives' offspring would be putting an end to a good thing. If anything, the dhimmi would have more of a stake in legalizing it than the muslims.

A good portion of the Koran reads like this to me: two simultaneous voices, a repressed, unpredictable, threatening, imbecilic voice that is shrill one moment and Jame Earl Jones the next, and the voices of Bill and Ted. If there were no real religion of Islam and real dead and suffering people because of it, the Koran would make great vulgar comedy.
