Fox News on Malmo, Sweden

Ali Dashti has been kindly supplying us with information about the situation in Sweden for some time. Now the larger -- if not mainstream -- media is catching on. From a FoxNews commentary:

Now in Malmo, Sweden, a city where a quarter of the population is Muslim, there are some parts of the city where buses refuse to go for fear of safety. Fireman, policemen, and ambulance drivers have been attacked in certain sections when trying to do their job. Swedes, though, are not an easy soundbite, perhaps because they are so thoughtful. They try to see things from every side. We went out with a policeman on patrol and spoke to him while he was walking around in the dangerous part of town. At one point I stopped him and said, "How does it feel to you, personally, when you come here trying to do your job, trying to help someone, and people throw rocks at you?" His response was that it was "a little annoying." Annoying. I imagined what kind of a colorful response I could have gotten from a New York policeman.

Here is more about Sweden. All following translations are shortened summaries and extracts:

“A ghetto is about to be created in Sweden”

Stockholm politician Annika Billström warns against the dangers of creating ghettos in Sweden. Rock throwing and attacks against buses and trains are increasing problems in some suburbs. In Malmø the bus lines in the area of Rosengård have been cancelled. In Stockholm, the authorities went even further and stopped both the bus traffic in the Tensta suburb and the train to Nynäshamn. Head of the bus company in the city of Uppsala, Claes-Göran Alm, is considering doing the same, as the harassment is costing too much money and is putting their employees at risk.

Billström has created a group to talk to the locals and ask them why they cause all this trouble: ”Why do you do this? Why do you throw stones? Or why do you shoot against buses?”

“Society cannot let the ghetto down”

Not only buses or trains are hit by vandalism and sabotage in the major cities. Benny Persson is selling window glass in the areas south of Stockholm. According to him, they sometimes have to jump into the car and leave the spot, as they are met with the harassment that some of the bus companies in the suburbs are experiencing: Stone throwing and threats. The same thing is reported from Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city. The company Hemglass are now attempting to run double crews in their cars to face the problems, but they still have had to completely abandon an area outside Södertälje. After the recent focus on sabotage and attacks against public traffic in major cities, leading Stockholm politician Annika Billström has warned that ghettos are forming in Sweden, and that society cannot let these ghettos down.

There are other warning signs than just bus lines suspended because of rock throwing. If you get stuck in an elevator outside Stockholm, you risk staying there for a long time. The repair personnel now demand security guards present when they arrive, since several of their employees have been physically attacked. If you call for a taxi from certain regions in Södertälje, you may never see it, as the drivers themselves call back to check if they dare pick up the passenger. The most serious problem, however, is the delay of ambulances and the fire department. According to the Emergency Central, attacks against them have become commonplace in the major cities. Every Saturday, at least five to ten times emergency personnel are asking for police escort to be able to do their job.

”Segregation continues, in spite of billions”

The segregation in the worst hit areas of Sweden has not been broken, despite many attempts. This is among other things due to the fact that immigrants who get established in Swedish society leave the suburbs, and are replaced by new immigrants. This according to a new study that has followed about 270 000 persons that have lived in 20 of the worst hit areas of the Stockholm region. Researchers Roger Andersson and Åsa Bråmå have followed all the 270 000 persons during the 1990s. These areas have received billions from different funds designed to prevent segregation. But the percentage of persons with non-Swedish ethnic background has increased from 57 to 73 during this period. 50-60 percent of those who move out of these areas have jobs, while only 10-30 percent of those who move in are employed.
One of the families that have chosen to leave is the Saganda family. They have left Hjulsta, densely populated by immigrants, because there were too few Swedes. “When we got kids, we wanted to move away from there. We wanted our children to grow up in an area where you could also see Swedes. We figured that if you don’t see Swedes, you don’t live in Sweden”.

Of course, nobody seems to consider the fact that certain Muslims may welcome such ghettos, even encourage them, as places in the House of War where they can establish autonomous Islamic mini-states and drive the authorities away. Except when they can collect welfare money, of course. This is what happens in France:

http://www.nationalreview.com/derbyshire/derbyshire200409300813.asp

In Le Figaro daily dated Feb 1, 2002, Lucienne Bui Trong, a criminologist working for the French government's Renseignements Generaux, complains that the survey system she had created for accurately denumbering the Muslim no-go zones was dismantled by the government. She wrote: 'From 106 hot points in 1991, we went to 818 sensitive areas in 1999. The term she uses, 'sensitive area,' is the PC euphemism for these places where anything representing a Western institution (post office truck, firemen, even mail order delivery firms, and of course cops) is routinely ambushed with Molotov cocktails, and where war weapons imported from the Muslim part of Yugoslavia are routinely found.

In Sweden, this is how everyday life looks like now:

http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/nyheter/story/0,2789,545209,00.html

Crime in Sweden is reaching record levels. One in every five households in Stockholm experiences burglary every year.

http://www.sr.se/cgi-bin/ekot/artikel.asp?artikel=490150

Private security companies are in great demand in major Swedish cities, as a serious lack of police to combat rising crime has made many citizens tired of being robbed.

Sigtuna municipality becomes the first in Sweden to institute "multicultural holidays" for all school pupils. Huddinge will soon follow, and in the schools in Rinkeby, some days off will be rearranged to the end of Ramadan. Sigtuna's new holidays have raised the issue in other municipailties in Greater Stockholm with many immigrants. Johan Hellberg from Huddinge says that all children should be treated equally. If you are the only Muslim in a school, you should have the day off.
Some are debating whether the schools should be able to decide this themselves. Erik Nilsson, school leader for the entire Stockholm region, says that "on schools with many Muslims, absence is high during the final days of Ramadan. We need to adjust to a reality where the inhabitants have different religions."

Could similar transport disruption occur in London?

A few years ago Southwark Council stated their aim of helping Arab settlement in a district known as the Elephant (It's not named after me!) whose central feature is a huge roundabout around which most of the traffic including 2000 bus movements a day that crosses the Thames to and fro the City or the West End circulates.

Nearby is also an underground and overgound station, and the Eurostar terminal at Waterloo is only a few minutes away.

If the Arab population grew to attain critical mass and it became so dangerous that traffic would have to be rerouted, can you imagine the
chaos?

Dangerous...We continue to find the word dangerous affixed to anything that references Middle Easterners. Aren't they supposed to be "people of peace" as theirs is a "religion of peace?" Hmmmm.

This will also happen in the United States, if it hasn't already, in locations with a sufficient concentration of Muslims.

My advice to Europeans --- send in the National Guard. Crush them. No group should be allowed this much power.

I have never seen international media write about the situation in Malmø or Swedish cities before. After Jihad Watch wrote about it, I have noticed several articles within a short space of time. I don't think that is a coincidence. It is a strong indication that influential people are visiting. This website IS being read, and it IS making a difference, one year after it was established. Kudos to Mr. Spencer and Hugh, and everybody else around here.

There is no better answer than a look at Sweden today, a country slightly smaller than California with a population of some 9 million. Sweden has the second-largest percentage Muslim population in Western Europe. France has the highest Muslim population percentage — 7 percent.

Sweden today is a major center of Europe's anti-Semitism and especially the city of Malmo, commercial center of southern Sweden with 265,000 residents. An estimated 18,000 Jews live in all Sweden, 1,200 in Malmo. And into Malmo's Islamist enclave the police, it is reported, rarely dare enter.

Anders Carlberg, president of the Jewish community of Goteborg, told an interviewer: "The fear of being attacked is the primary concern of Jews in Sweden today." That fear was well grounded. On the day after the interview with Mr. Carlberg, his son and three of the son's friends were attacked in a Malmo restaurant by a gang of Muslim youths, but were rescued by police without injury.

Malmo has a higher percentage of Muslims than the other two large Swedish cities, Stockholm and Gothenburg.

The upsurge in anti-Jewish activities came with the beginning of the Intifada in September 2000. The following month saw a big anti-Israeli demonstration in Malmo where Jewish storeowners were reportedly threatened by Muslims. The Swedish media have been particularly racist. A left-wing newspaper, Indymedia, put on its homepage a cartoon featuring the Angel of Death wearing a hat emblazoned with a swastika and the Star of David

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A52672-2004Oct21?language=printer

In Sweden, nowhere is the change happening faster than in Malmo, the country's third-largest city behind Stockholm and Goteborg. It is a gritty shipyard town of about 265,000 people. Once a major industrial center that drew people from abroad with the prospect of jobs, Malmo has lately fallen on hard times as factories have closed.

About 40 percent of Malmo's population is foreign-born or has at least one foreign-born parent. The bulk of foreign-born people come from the former Yugoslavia, Iran, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. Among school-age children, 50 percent have at least one foreign-born parent, and analysts project that the number will soon reach 60 percent.

The city's official Web site boasts that its inhabitants come from 164 countries and speak 100 languages.

A walk through the Mollevangstorget area of Malmo, where Timbuktu lives, shows how much immigration has changed this city. The Middle East restaurant sits across the street from a falafel shop, down the road from an Indian shop and the Tehran Supermarket, which is filled with nuts, dates, dried fruits and banana-flavored tobacco imported fresh from Iran.

"Immigrants like being here, because they can find things from their own country," said a man working behind the supermarket counter, who gave his name only as Rahim. "Four thousand Iranians live here. But there are Swedes shopping here as well."

The ethnic diversity is part of what drew Timbuktu, 29, here to make his music. "Malmo is a quite interesting town for the way Sweden may look in the future," he said in an interview over coffee at the city's Hilton Hotel, as two female fans ogled him from a table nearby.

I'm working on a series on Muslims in Europe and just returned from Malmo, Sweden, a city with a large population of immigrants. During interviews the Swedes would not say anything negative. Doctors, police chiefs, and teachers were all extremely diplomatic in their choice of words. It was only after a long while that they would start to say what they thought, that the city could not handle such rapid immigration, that it was not able to absorb or integrate the immigrants. I interviewed one nurse, then talked with her for a while off-camera, where she said that she was actually afraid to come to work because sometimes people in the emergency room would yell and become physically abusive in their demands for rapid treatment. Her eyes got wide. She said "it is not the Swedish way" to behave like that. So I got the cameraman Barnaby and interviewed her again. Police and firefighters have also gotten attacked while trying to do their jobs in certain sections of the city.

Of course, the Scandinavian sources telling stories about the growing ghetto crime do everything they can to avoid mentioning the ethnicity, and especially the religion of the criminals. In concrete cases of e.g. rape or robbery, there may be hints like "dark hair", "speaking Swedish/Danish with an accent", or, at best, "North African origin" or something like that; speaking about the ghettoes at large, there is something about "immigrant population" - NEVER the word Muslim as it appears here in Foxnews. Mostly, you just have to guess. The purpose of this evasiveness is obviously the PC wish to avoid increasing "prejudices", but it may have a reversed effect - you don't get the facts, you start making assumptions.

An recent example from Denmark:
http://ekstrabladet.dk/VisArtikel.iasp?PageID=267547
- a group of four "immigrant" girls, two of whom "were wearing a headscarf" attacked a Danish girl, beating and kicking her while people passed by and no one went to help.

Of course, the headscarf is a sign of modesty and pious morality...

I shake my head, even laugh, at the silly denial the Swedes suffer from. Avoiding telling the stark, harsh truth about the matter, trying to be oh so PeeCee, so as not to offend the nice ethnic minorities. They're obviously well versed in the technique of self-loathing and guilt over being white oppressors and colonizers. This is what our teachers are trying to drum into our kids, across the world. Looks like they succeeded swimmingly in Sweden.

Isn't it obvious what they're doing, they settle like bacteria in a wound, in every single European country, why every one, why not just one or two or some??? Sweden was such a beautiful peaceful country, with such lovely people, a neanderthalic blood-cult should be allowed nowhere near it.
This shit cannot carry on much longer!!!

Tear gas, clubbings, trip to airport, back to the sandbox.......illiterate lizards.

Our media isn't much better than Sweden's. Remember how hard our media tried to cover up the fact that the Washington sniper was a Muslim convert? How often we saw stories about "John Allen" instead of "John Allen Muhammad" which was the name he preferred to use for some time.

Also when that Egyptian guy shot a bunch of people at the El-Al Terminal at Los Angeles airport a couple of years ago, the media tried really hard to make everybody believe it was "an angry white nut" just going off for no reason. The next day, we all found out what we knew already -- it was a "Middle Eastern man" who had verses from the Quran pasted on his front door.

This sort of sickening, suicidal doe-see-doe around the truth, political correctness permeates the news here where I live in the Peoples Republic of California. If a rapist or violent criminal is African American they leave that out of the suspects description -- Suspect armed and dangerous has 'brown hair and brown eyes'.

It's so bad here that the liberal District Attorney(in SF) refused to try a cop killer under the death penalty after he gunned down a police officer with an assault rifle. She promised the people that if she became DA that she wouldn't do that ...It's against her principles.

Yet, according to some, FOX news is not to be trusted. In favor of ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC.... all groups we just Know to be trustworthy. ('we figure we're good for 15 points for kerry')

Thanks for the translations Ali Dashti.

It is not just "young marginalized" persons that are assaulting fire fighters.

When the mosque burned in Malmö, Bejzat Becirov assaulted the fire fighters. He is the VD (boss) for Islamic Center.

You will not find this article by searching for "Bejzat Becirov" in the newspaper Sydsvenskan. By some strange reason you find a lot of other articles, including about the fire, but not an article that is quite damning for Bejzat Becirov.

Someone with more knowledge about searching newspapers would be nice if he told us more about this...

http://w1.sydsvenskan.se/Article.jsp?article=10042584

"I deeply regret my actions and apologize. But when you se such an awful accident you search for someone to put the blame on." (My own translation)

More than 40 police were required to hold the masses in control.

The fire fighters were accused of not doing enough to put out the fire.
