The Mormon San Jose police chief who decided to observe Ramadan in solidarity with his Muslim constituents has completed the fast. And this is what he has learned: from KPIX/KCBS, with thanks to Stephanie:
"They may dress differently, they may have some customs that are different. But when you look at their family unit and interact with them, they are just like everyone else," Davis said. "They're human beings and they're here to live the American Dream."
Well, there is no doubt that they are human beings. And no doubt some are here to live the American dream. But Chief, have you ever by any chance heard the name Theo van Gogh? Have you ever heard of something called "Sharia"? Can you give us any genuine assurance that no San Jose Muslims cherish dreams of the caliphate?

Ahhh, living proof that anyone, no matter how out of touch they are with their surroundings, can become a Police Chief in San Jose.

Stupid sucker, another useful idiot for Islam. When are the multiculturalist sycophants going to open their eyes and realize that devious enemies of the state don't always advertise their intentions? Our muslim fifth column has made its intentions crystal clear on many occasions and is engaged in the time-honored Islamic practice of dawa, jihad's predecessor. Sure, they play the meek, submissive role--"Oh look at us, we're so harmless, pious, and humble; living in constant fear in our Islamic enclaves because we are misunderstood, persecuted, and suffering persistent threats from bigots."
"We are the quintessential, poor, pitiful, downtrodden victims of ignorance and bigotry."
Just wait until the hordes of muslim children grow up and decide that dawa isn't producing enough converts, and then proceed to the next phase of Islamic domination. That should be interesting. They're multiplying like rats and the next generation bears very close scrutiny. It's time to get rid of the demagogic, hate-mongering mullahs and imams; they are the instigators and purveyors of hate and jihad.

The police chief is a Mormon - it takes a cult member to know another cult member.

As they say in Mormon circles, "Every member a missionary."
This police chief was undoubtedly trying to provide a friendly face for his own faith to the Muslim community in the hopes that one day they'll convert to the, uh... other One True Faith™.
I didn't read the entire article, but Chief Wiggum probably persuaded some of these Muslims to read The Book of Mormon or have some missionaries over for lunch. Unfortunately, the young girls are the ones who are most likely to convert to Mormonism... does this police chief know what the Muslim father of an infidel girl is likely to do to keep her from becoming a Mormon? I doubt it. : )
No, this police chief probably doesn't know about the violence in Islam. But then the odds that he even knows much about the history of his own faith are slim.

A police officer should be able to spot a con when he sees it. Pity that he wasn't wearing his "policeman's hat" while participating. The officers I know have natural skepticism which makes them disliked, but effective. In the police, I prefer to take one that's disliked over one that can be so easily conned. Perhaps he's been in administration too long.

I found more on this story:
http://forum.onecenter.com/cgi-bin/forum/forum.cgi?c=msg&fid=mep-forum&mid=26516
"Once I commit to something, I'm hard-core," Davis said. "I made a commitment, and I intend to follow the rules to the letter out of respect for what they are doing."
Davis, 47, joined about a billion Muslims worldwide in their fasts to gain a better understanding of the community. He joined families at their homes for iftar, the daily breaking of the fast. Davis has also been reading an English translation of the Quran.
Maybe this could lead to something interesting after all. Group hug!

Why don't someone set up the Email address to this San Jose Police chief so the comments of this forum could be mailed to him.
If this Chief is wearing his 'magic' underwear we have nothing to worry about - right?
And while on the subject maybe there could be set up an Email bank of addresses where we could write to the Editors of papers.
I have had one letter published in my hometown and have had about five that must have been rejected in favor of the exciting story of rescuing widow Brown's cat from the tree.

In visualizing this unusually, almost wilfully, clueless police-chief (scary to think your safety in San Jose is being entrusted to the likes of this police chief, who no doubt would not have been unduly worried about those groups of 4-5 Arab men, pursuing their "American Dream" as they boarded planes on the morning of September 11, 2001, and would have let them on despite a stewardess's imploring him to stop them), the image that comes to mind is that which a poster -- "Border Collie" -- has already alluded to so amusingly -- is Chief Wiggums, who has all of Homer Simpson's idiocy and none of his winsomeness.
If Chief Davis really believes that by sharing an iftar dinner he can complacently conclude that Muslims are just like the rest of us --you know, "family values," "sharing the American Dream" (the Muslims-on-top sharia version of that dream, or another version?)and so on -- well, one has just one question to ask of the Chief:
Do you know the way to San Jose?

"Once I commit to something, I'm hard-core," Davis said. "I made a commitment, and I intend to follow the rules to the letter out of respect for what they are doing."Let us hope this police chief doesn't make a "hard-core" commitment to Islam because if he does, he will have no choice but to dedicate himself to waging jihad upon his Infidel neighbors.
Islam is the only religion I know of that causes its adherents to become more violent in proportion to the increase in their commitment to its doctrines.

Hugh (et al):
Davis is a Mormon, the more "orthodox" of which may not be as far from Muslims as we'd like to think. Some of them go on practicing polygamy, among otherthings, the laws of the US and Canada notwithstanding. In fact, there was a news item not long ago detailing a Mormon community that was expelling adolescent males as they were seen by the older males as competition for the younger females they want in their harems.

Mormonism doesn't rival Islam for violence, but there are a few bloody skeletons in the Mormon closet.
Chief "Wiggum" Davis undoubtedly took penalty oaths when he went through the Mormon Temple right before he served his mission. Meaning--it's hard to describe them, but--if he were to ever reveal the sacred signs & symbols he learned in the Temple to a non-Mormon, he has agreed to suffer the apostate penalties of disembowelment, and to have his tongue ripped out by its roots.
And have his throat slit. Special.
Of course, brothers and sisters, those oaths are just symbolic! Yeah, sure. And the Mountain Meadows Massacre was just a big misunderstanding. Brigham Young didn't mean all that stuff he said about Blood Atonement, either.
But, in spite of those things... most mainstream Mormons are really, really, really nice people. Although out in those polyg communities, all bets are off. All sorts of creepy crapola crawling 'round there... /threadjack

Kleo, your idea is great, let`s set up an e-mail bank of addresses,of newspapers editors,tv shows such as Hannity & Colmes,The Factor, radio shows such as Limbaugh,Laura Ingraham, etc.
I read articles like this one, about the moron chief and it makes my blood boil and i feel like i`m gonna go crazy if i cannot make a stand.
I ordered a "Remember Theo Van Gogh" t-shirt and i`m going to wear it every afternoon when i walk my 140 lbs rotweiller in the park(actually for some it may seem that the dog is the one who is walking me).

Yah....sure. Just like everyone else. We all believe in honor killings, beheadings, stonings, fatwas, jihad and finally we all fervently follow the teachings of a psychopathic pedophile. I remember an old episode of "All in the Family" where Archie mused that God was just waiting for one more nut to move to California before he was going to drop the whole thing into the ocean. Somehow, this story brought back that recollection.
