Al-Manar TV agrees to 'respect French law'

They made a "mistake," you see, in running that blood libel show. It won't happen again, you see. And if you happen to be in the market for a suspension bridge, call Mohammed Haidar. From AFP, with thanks to Jeff Lastname:

PARIS, Nov 25 (AFP) - The head of a controversial television station linked to the Lebanese Shiite Muslim Hezbollah group said it would respect French law against discrimination after being allowed by France's broadcasting regulator to transmit programmes within the European Union.

"We are ready to respect French law and will submit to it," Mohammed Haidar told Thursday's edition of the conservative Paris daily Le Figaro. "We have agreed to be bound by the agreement required of us" by the French Audiovisual Council (CSA).

The council gave the go-ahead on Friday despite appeals by Jewish groups not to grant a licence to the channel to transmit programmes in France after it had put out material criticised for perceived anti-Semitic content.

Following renewed protests, including from the opposition Socialist Party, the CSA said the agreement imposed on Al-Manar was of unprecedented toughness, obliging the channel "not to incite hatred, violence or discrimination based on race, sex, religion or nationality."

Haidar said the aim of the channel was to support the Palestinian cause, and it had always distinguished between Israel's policies as a state and the Jewish religion. Any changes to its programming to comply with the agreement would be minor.

He said that its broadcasting last year of a series which included particularly vicious anti-Semitic themes, such as the Middle Ages blood libel myth of alleged Jewish ritual killing of children, had been a "mistake".

As muslims, what else in the world will they have to talk about?

The pastor from the Kissimmee, FL school evicted from muslim-owned property has posted in the comments section on the DW article on this subject. Check out his website.

I wonder what kinds of "bridges" will be built when and if this Muslim cable tv service gets going here in North America!

Interesting debate at the website of Hizb ut Tahrir about Islam and integration in Britain. David Goodhart of Prospect magazine is one of the speakers.

Well, they can talk about what kind of hairdos are halal and what haram (they should not be in the shape of a "camel's hump"). And food (if you have had sexual intercourse with a goat, a sheep, a lamb, and choose to roast your lover afterwards, do not serve the meat to your own family, nor to your immediate neighbors. Selling the meat, however, in the next village, is allowed. Waste not, want not). And whether or not one can do business while on the hajj (yes, of course you may). What fun to have to be a French official monitoring Manar -- and after how many infractions will the station be off the air? 1? 10? 1,000? What will it take?

Memo to Philippe de Montebello: begin raising money now for that special "Louvre" wing of the Metropolitan that you are going to have to build in 10-20 years. It will require at least that time for all the planning. Actually not a wing -- I'm afraid you are going to have to have a space as big, or even bigger than the Louvre, because everything is going to have to be flown out if it is not to offend Muslim sensiblities, and you know what Muslims do to statutes and paintings of living things, don't you? And for the smaller museums, the Musee Guimet, the Musee Nissim Camondo, and all the rest -- well, why not just reproduce them, as is, and place them in nice cities and towns around the country.

First we (and England) got Panofsky, and Friedmann, and Jakob Rosenberg, and Rudolph Wittkower, and E. H. Gombrich, and ERnst Kitzinger, and Gisela Richter and George Hanfmann and Rudolf Arnheim and so many others, and all of the people they helped to train, and the standards they helped to raise and, for a while, maintain -- and now the art will soon be following.

Are we Americans lucky, or what?

Let's take this idea for a walk, shall we?

The New Rijksmuseum might best be placed where there once stood Nieuw Ambsterdam. Close to New York City, but not in it. Mamaroneck, Oyster Bay, Scarsdale so that first you can take in the Hals, Rembrandts, Ruisdaels, and the odd Vermeer, and then stop at well-advertised Zachy's just before getting on train to go back to the city.

The New Prado, possibly as a tribute to the general Hispanidad, would best be placed either in Miami, or possibly in Texas, or New Mexico. A little hint of Felipe Segundo right outside Albequerque, or San Diego, would be most appropriate.

The New National Gallery? Virginia, definitely Virginia. But where? Southside Virginia, Brookneal, and a hint of David K. E. Bruce and the English-Speaking Union? Or better, and more accessible to Washington, would be the riding country, the land of Three-Day Eventing, and admirers of Charles Chenevix French. Yes, possibly Upperville would do for the New National Gallery. And docents, winsome female docents, all of them, please, definitely FFV (First Families of Virginia). Or, if you insist, a handful of interns as well from the Main Line, and the farther shores of Long Island (Jamestown will do).

The New Uffizi? Here we have a problem. I'll leave this one up to you, dear reader -- where do you want all those sculptures, which according to Sheik Al-Qaradawi's handy guide to what is haram and what halal, cannot be permitted to exist unless they have been vandalized and defaced, so that they no longer can command respect -- which respect would violate the laws of Allah.

Maybe we can cut a deal here, hmm? After all, Italy does contain 2/3 of the Western world's art treasures. Without Italy, Western civilization is unthinkable (that can't be said for Germany, I'm afraid, or for France). So let's throw the rest of Eurabia completely to the wolves, but Italy must be spared, and kept free from Islam. And we Americans will guarantee its security (as, for other reasons, we will guarantee that other essential component in the spiritual heritage of the Western world, Israel).

But if the Muslims prove implacable, then we will have to bring over the contents of the Uffizi, and whatever statues of Michelangelo, Donatello, and others are all over the place, in the Piazza della Signoria, in Rome, everywhere --lock, stock, and barrel, and offer them a refuge here. Possibly all those Americans now putting their tax-deductible dolars to work in the "Save Venice" Campaign, forgetting that the real sea that may swamp all of Italy, not just one city, consists of adherents of a grim ideology that commands the destruction of art works (and the recent destruction of Joseph's Tomb, and of the Bamiyan Buddhas were simply the most recent examples of 1400 years of such destruction of Christian, Jewish, Hindu, and Buddhist artifacts and monumenmts).

Hanover Street and the North End being what they now are, with Big-Dig and gentrification changes in the works, one would have to opt for LIttle Italy and Mulberry Street. Yes, Gennaro, there is a Santa Claus -- and everyone can now visit the Uffizi Without Leaving Home.

And someday, someone will write a book, about all the art treasures of Italy, kept from harm, as in some fabulous fable, by being housed in the warm embrace of Little Italy, and Big America, the country with a heart. It will be a simple book, with pictures of some of the sculptures and paintings, carefully labelled (Mich-el-ang-e-lo), designed to introduce young children to the wonders of the fine arts. And that future book will be called:

"To Think that I Saw It On Mulberry Street."

Oops. I think that title's been taken.

As Joe E. Brown once said, nobody's perfect.

The Islamic "call to arms" Jihad channel? Don't they have a few of them already? And what about our Jihad Watch channel, cant we get some funding to counter hatepropaganda and PC?

If anyone understands French, I suggest you take a look at the at the sickening response by the Conseil Superieur de l'Audiovisuel to CRIF, the French Jewish Council. This demonstrates beyond all reasonable doubt that the Eurabia charge made by Bat Y'eor is completely substantiated. In an earlier post, I wrote optimistically that Islamophobia is showing healthy progress in the minds of many French citoyens that I encounter. (Maybe they are just agreeing with what I say and then making a discreet note of my name)Anyway, I won't translate the article but anyone who's ever been been fobbed off with a crappy response to a legitimate complaint will understand the general tone. In other words, Your comments have been taken into account, I assure you that you have no cause for concern.

I will however do a rough translation of the following paragraphs because they do show where we are heading with this

"De plus, compte tenu de la spécificité d'Al Manar, le CSA n'a autorisé la chaîne que pour une durée d'un an, alors même que la durée habituelle des conventions est de cinq ans. C'est, sur ce plan-là également, une décision inédite. Ainsi, dans un an, le CSA sera amené à examiner l'éventualité d'un renouvellement de l'autorisation d'Al Manar. Le Conseil prendra évidemment en considération la manière dont la chaîne s'est acquittée de ses obligations."

"Furthermore, considering the specificity of Al Manar, the CSA has authorized the channel for only one year, where usually five years would be allowed. This is an unusual decision for an unusual situation. So, in one year, the CSA will re-examine the possiblity of renewing Al Manar's authorisation. The council will obviously take into account how the channel has fulfilled its obligations."

"D'autre part, nous allons informer et consulter nos collègues des instances de régulation audiovisuelle des pays de l'Union Européenne afin qu'ils observent eux aussi les programmes d'Al Manar et nous fassent connaître leur analyse, dont nous tiendrons le plus grand compte quand la convention viendra à son terme et que se posera la question de son éventuel renouvellement."

"Furthermore, we will inform and consult our colleagues who regulate broadcasting in other countries of the EU so that they can also view the content of Al Manar and let us know what they think. Their opinions will be taken into account when their licence is up for renewal."

This is the most shocking piece of Dhimmitude I've heard all day in Francarabia. Basically Al Manar merely has to broadcast reruns of Little Mud Hut in the Waddi for a year and the rest of Europe will be seduced into believing that Hezbollah represent harmless goatherders.

P.S. On lighter note, I believe I have converted a bona fide multiculti to the anguish of Islamophobia. This event took place last night in the confines of my kitchen. There were no tears of joy, just repeated remarks of "I don't want to believe this. I need time" Small steps my friends, but we need to work fast if we are to beat those traitors who govern us.

P.P.S. Hugh, where would you like to place the Institut du Monde Arabe and the teapot collection from the Louvre collection of Les Arts du Monde Islamique?

I strongly recommend watching this video. It reflects how "moderate" muslims feel, and how ordinary Dutch feel.

To Mr.Hugh:

Western civilization wouldn't exist for the sake of the German and Spanish branches of the house of Habsburg (Hapsburg in Englisch spelling), who battled the ikonoklastic Muslim-Ottoman Empire from the 15th to the 19th century.

We Germans not only slained innocent Jews (for wich many Germans are very sorry and ashamed), but also Askindschi and Sipahi and Yeni Tscheri who had invaded the Balkans and had been on the verge to conquer Europe.

Oh, sorry I forgot: You would call the German branch rather "Austrian" than German, in order to avoid the confessing that the evil Teutones also protected Western Europe from invading Arabs, Magyars, Mongols, Tatars, Turks etc.etc. from the beginning of the 8th century, so that England, France, Spain, Italy and Scandinavia had the chance to flourish.

Rather than you, I would also mention the great cultures of Eastern Europe, the Western and Eastern and Southern Slavic countries, which not only battled invading Mongols and Ottomans but also developed their own special way of life, you Americans would say.

Many Germans are aware of the American heroic struggle against Nazism and Stalinism, Germany did not forget your sacrifice.

Today we are your third largest Ally in the struggle against the fanatics on the Balkans, in Afghanistan, and at the Horn of Africa (Somalia).

We also gave Israel a hundret billions of US$ and weaponry like U-boats in order to garantuee the existence of her state.

Please don't forget this when the US administration is going to push the government of my country to take in Turkey into EU on the basis of the strategem "divide et impera".

And please don't forget this when you light the Christmas tree and hear to Bach's "Weihnachts Oratorium".

Regards from Germany

Nippon, I am spanish, thank for your words, I have to say that Frank I the king of France was friend of turks and muslims, we are speaking in XVI century and even Luther hasn´t said nothing about muslims but wanted to kill jews.
France is a cancer for Europe, this Hizbollah killed 241 americans and 60 french in Lebanon, the selfishness is great, all is forgotten, greetings

I could almost smell the coffee and cigarette smoke in the kitchen.

A few suggestions: Could Jihad Watch be translated into French with software and then cleaned up with an editor? Also, as I have reminded many times, Spencer's book, Islam Unveiled has not been translated into French because of threats to publisher and translator. Could the book be translated into French and put online? Perhaps downloadable for a nominal fee?

What better way to generate 'clicks': a book that could not be translated into French and published in France because of the influence of Islam...

Posted by: JTF [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 29, 2004 12:37 AM

Dear Franze,

it's true, Luther didn't like the Jewish community, which rejected his new concept of the New Testament (by any good means) and he also rejected the reformation of feudal system in Germany, on the other hand he is said to be on the side of Carlos/Karl V. who engaged in battle against Süleiman the Magnificent.

He regarded Mohammed as the Antichrist.

Alas, I also have to mention the German ally in the first World War:
Ottoman Turkey!
In the second World War: Al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem.

But not only France and Germany were temporarily the ally of invading Islam, also Great Britain (Crimean war) and even Sweden (Karl XII) chose Ottoman Turkey as an ally against Russia.

And think about USA: They supported the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan and chose Pakistan as an ally in this area, which supported the Taleban and is supporting them until today.

Except Russia, the only force which never chose Islam as an ally, but always battled those ikonoclasts, and also Spain, Italy and Middle-Eastern Europe, no western country should point at any other, for they are all more or lesser guilty in dealing with the enemy of enlightment.

So, I hope Germany and France will be on the right side during the great war, which will taking place in the next 100 years, i.e.
on the side of those heroic countries like Serbia, Russia, Spain, Poland and many others which were engaging in struggle against Mohammed and his followers.

Regards
