From Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, with thanks to Teri:
London, 30 November 2004 (RFE/RL) -- More Muslim police officers are on the streets in Britain and greater efforts are being made to improve relations between the police and the general Islamic population.Tim Mahony, spokesman for the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), said that "we're clear that we're going in the right direction, but we're not content that enough has been done to bring the police and Muslim communities better together. There are a lot of tensions around terrorism, for example, and the way in which police powers are interpreted or perhaps misinterpreted."
Efforts to bring the Muslim community and police closer together were spurred by increasing complaints that Muslims were being targeted by police, and that they were the victims of frequent "stop and search" actions merely on the basis of their appearance.
The hope was that more Muslim police officers and regular dialogue between the police and Muslim groups would help to dispel some of the tensions.
Muslim leaders are cautiously optimistic.
"It's a beginning," said Abdulrahman Jaffar, a representative of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), a Muslim group that holds regular discussions with the police. "One cannot say we've reached what is our desired result yet. I think we still have a long way to go. But, I think there are people on both sides who are willing to talk, and who are willing to listen, and who have a genuine intention of doing something at that level. So it is positive."

And what about apostates from Islam, who fear for their lives, have to change their names, and live in secure undisclosed locations?
WHERE WILL THEY GO TO, now that there are muslim police officers in the ranks?

I don't think more muslim police officers will solve an impossible problem, but the British are eternal optimists.
They are seriously jeopardizing the safety of British citizens by recruiting muslim police officers. They will always be loyal first to their fellow muslims, whether they are breaking kaffir laws or not. Maybe when bomb-making terrorists are ignored by their friendly muslim bobby and succeed in killing a few thousand Brits, they'll realize the futility of this endeavor. It's bound to happen if they allow muslims to police muslims.

I suppose we need muslim prison guards so they can open the doors for Abu hamza and Co....

Serious point, Voltaire! Where will they go? Once the first mole (muslim police man) assassinates an apostate for the cause they message will be heard laud and clear. But isn't this the situation in Iraq right now?

The West needs Muslim police officers like we need a hole in the head. Our dhimmi leaders will try anything to avoid facing the facts, won't they?

We spent years clearing a nest of bent coppers out of the Met (Metropolitan Police in London for non UK readers) with Operation Countryman, then the provinces. Now why do we want to go and advertise for them specifically?
NO!

It's only a few weeks since a British muslim policeman was in court on charges of passing names and addresses from police computer files to fellow muslims - thereby endangering lives.
Lesson learned...and just as quickly forgotten!

And how are they going to protect the Iranian guy who mocks Islam, if muslims are in the police force?

Which law code will be enforced: British common law or Sha'ria. Will they treat Muslim hate speech with as much vigor as critical speech against Islam? Only will tell!!!!

Yes, send a load of Muslim police officers to a house which is suspected of being a bomb factory.
Do they follow their duty as coppers and report that they've found explosives?
Or do they follow their duty as Muslims and report that they found nothing?

This was probably prompted by the murder of Scottish teenager, Kris Duncan by a Muslim gang.
The police have had a finger pointed at them because they wound down their operations in dealing with such Muslim gangs several months before because they were afraid of being called racist.
This solution of recruiting officers from the same community which produces more than its fair share of trouble makers is probably very sensible with black people who are not intrinsically and irrevocabley opposed to British society, hence easier to trust.
However, when it comes to Muslims......

I'm also afraid that Muslim police officers might falsely arrest and frame any one who is an outspoken opponent of Islam.

What is good enough for these guys? Maybe anybody who is not a Muslim should be barred from public office, and the police. That would be their idea of a perfect "diverse" and "tolerant" Islamic dream state.

In Holland they have seen the results of such insane approach...the guy was not even a police officer,he was merely a translator ,and he gave his fellow muslim terrorists in Amsterdam, files with sensitive information.
To increase the number of muslims in the force or to even have any muslims in the force is something against any common sense and it will have catastrophic consequences....british people who notice anything unusual about one of their neighbours or coworkers and want to report the fact to the police, will think twice before doing it,for fear of a muslim mole...and more terrorist activities will go unreported, more chances that some of them will be succesful.

A mossies cannot testify against other mossies.
I`m most interested in as to how these mossie police officers will bear witness against their `brothers and sisters`.

What about cases where there is cruelty to animals, like dogs or even pigs?
Are you going to want a muslim police officer on the case of prosecuting people who are cruel to animals, that are against their religion?
What if that muslim police officer just refuses to handle the case, or files it away, never to be acted upon?
Though having said that, I can just imagine a criminal in a stand-off with a muslim policeman or woman, holding a pig and saying, "come and get me."

Federal judge says it's OK for Muslims to not testify against Muslims
A sign of things to come.
