Van Hulst's surprise that his warnings went unheeded is itself surprising. It should be clear, and not only to heads of intelligence services, that the Western press, Western opinion-molders, Western politicians, prefer to deny until the tsunami of terrorism -- or of the thousand demands made by Muslims within the Infidel lands for changes, tothe legal system, to what is taught in schools, , here and there and everywhere, in order to change the very nature of our societies and to weaken them, to make them less certain of themselves, and above all less willing to take the kind of measures which, when confronted at all other times and places with such threats, have been undertaken swiftly and without regret.

But what is disturbing is that, having uttered a certain amount of homely sense, this "Dutch spy chief" then demonstrates that he, too, is not immune to wishful thinking, and a misunderstanding of Islam. He suggests that

"We must make sure that Muslims feel welcome here, that they integrate, that they accept the identity of the country where they live," he said.

He appears to believe that it is only a failure of Dutch effort that has prevented Muslim integration, and that, through hard work, Muslims can be "integrated" and can "accept the identity of the country where they live." But that could only be possible if Believers ceased to believe. What does this spy chief actually know, what time has he devoted to studying, and from what sources and what "experts," the belief-system of Islam? For it is impossible to be a Believer and to "integrate" into Western society. Western society is the enemy; Western society is run by, and was created by, Infidels. Western society flatly contradicts almost every important tenet of Islam -- above all in its elevation of the individual, and of individaul conscience, artistic expression, free and skeptical inquiry. And Western societies appear to believe that church and state can be separated, that men and women are equal, and that people have a right to decide for themselves whether, and what, to believe. All of this is absolutely impossible in Islam. But most of all, the most impossible thing of all, is to permit any equality between Believer and Infidel. This is not a minor matter, not something that can be worked on and massage. The immutable texts of Islam remain immutable. Who will change Sura 9, the last and the most influential of the Suras? Or a hundred other passages that preach Jihad in the Qur'an? Who will redo Bukhari and Muslim? Who will attempt to convince Muslims that Muhammad did not marry Aisha when she was six, and have sexual intercourse with her when she was nine? Who will change the details of Muhammad's biography to leave out his political assassinations, his execution of the prisoners taken from the Bani Qurayza, his attack on innocent farmers of the Khaybar Oasis, and a hundred other examples of aggression and violence to seize the women and other booty from the Unbelievers? Does this "Dutch spy chief" -- so busy with the business of tapping this phone, or uncovering that terrorist cell, have the time really to sit and study, and think about, and study some more, and assimilate, the material necessary?

What the imams say in the khutbas, what Muslims in Iraq and Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Sudan and Algeria, and everywhere else say about the Infidels is not a figure speech, not a fabrication designed to send chills down our spines for Halloween -- it is all real, all meant. To us, to advanced Western man, it sounds so fantastic that we keep pinching ourselves, and keep assuming that it is exaggerated, rhetorical, meant only to scare, or meant only by a "handful of extremists." No, no, and no.

It is horrifying to discover that even those in charge of the internal security services of Western governments are, in some ways, as naive about Islam as, say, some talk-show host on NPR. It will not do. And it will not do to say that "we must make sure that Muslims feel welcome here." That is exactly the wrong attitude. If he cannot understand the truth, much less express it -- which is that Muslims must be made to feel, if they persist in their belief-systems, distinctly unwelcome all over the lands of the Infidels, not because we are cruel but because we wish to survive and to have our system and way of life, anathema to Muslims, and seen as something to be overcome and done away with once Muslims are, through demographic trends, in a position where they cannot be denied.

What the Dutch spy chief should have said is that the politicians ignored warnings because they are fearful, and in a state of denial. What they must do, he might have added, is to take Islam as a belief-system seriously, to study and analyze it, to understand how Infidels and the civilization of Infidels is regarded by Believers, and to take, in response, all appropriate measures. Those who arrive as Muslims must be encouraged to modify, or abandon, their belief-system altogether -- and the churches of the Western world should be making efforts at conversion, aided by the state. Those who show no signs of changing their beliefs, however, must be regarded as a real, not an imaginary threat, to every single important achievement of Western civilization -- equality of the sexes, the centrality of the individual, personal autonomy (not the regulation of every detail that Islam provides), artistic expression in all media (including scultpure, painting, music), free and skeptical inquiry (the basis of science), and a hundred other things which Islam would not, has not, does not permit.

There is no getting around the clash here. It is not a "clash of civilizations" in the plural. It is only the clash of Islam with everyone, and everyting, that is not part of Islam. It is not "Islam vs. the West" but "Islam vs. the Rest." Hinduism, Buddhism, the animists of the southern Sudan, the shamans of Siberia, everything that is not part of Islam is worthless, and for Believers, need only be accomodated until that moment when Muslims are sufficiently strong in numbers to mold things to their own liking. And what that liking is, and how that molding would proceed, can be understood simply by looking at 1350 years of Muslim Jihad-conquest, and the subsequent massacre, or forced converstion, or imposition of dhimmitude on the non-Muslims who were

Nor can Islam possibly be refashioned or changed to fit the Western desire that Muslims be "integrated." Ex-Muslims can be integrated, and are valuable sources of information on Islam and on how to deal with, and work to weaken, or divide, the Believers. But real Believers -- even if they wear Western dress, are highly-paid engineers at Intel, or seemingly true-blue members of the Marine Corps, or Muslim F. B. I. agents, or a mild-mannered bureaucrat for the Dallas City Administration -- here you can fill in the equivalents for England, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, etc. -- their secret loyalty must always be to the umma al-islamiyya. Consider Islam a cult, a vast cult, with a highly-successful program of brainwashing.
Just because a billion people are members of this cult, does not prevent it from having all the hallmarks of a cult that divides the world entirely between those who are In and those who are Out, and that forbids, and punishes, and attempts to prevent, those who are once In, from ever getting Out.

The only thing that should be added here is again: How naive and how ignorant everybody in the West is when it comes to 'understanding Islam'.

Integration and 'welcoming' them is out. They have overstayed their welcome and we don't need Serbia, Bosnia, Chechnya and all the others repeated again and again...

We don't need the blood in the streets. Let them do that in the desert where they belong!

The "ignorant and naive" of the West are infected with optimism, the belief that we can change the nature of the recalcitrant by showing then how much better our system is; by believing that there is good in every human being, we only have to find and develop it; hope springs eternal, "we can make miracles, go out and make one today!"; "Love is the answer"; "Christ is the answer"; "the glass is half full, not half empty"; "the power of positive thinking", and so on.

We believe in ourselves and in our ability to make change happen in the world because up to now, we have been successful in improving our own lives and the lives of millions. (At least in our in our vision of the world.) Many refuse to allow their optimism, their "rose-colored vision" to be tarnished by reality: we had to and have to put down, "persecute," or even kill some to create and sustain that optimistic world view to which the majority of Westerner want to subscribe.

Well said, EPG,

I used to be a radical left thinker, (wisher), and was angry because my viewpoint, (justice and equality, compassion for all in need, and an inate desire for a common sense living creed to be adopted by all) seemed impossible to achieve.

And it was. Because we are dealing with human beings in all stages of evolution and education, maturity and understanding. How can we all 'just get along' when there are those whose deep seated religious teachings tell them that to 'get along' with us,the infidels, to live and let live, is an evil concept, punishable by their God.

So, what am I supposed to do to make them change the viewpoint they were taught as children? That would be like convincing Christians that it is OK to steal from the church offering basket, if you really need the money. Can't be done. Christians are taught as children that theft is wrong, and even more wrong to steal from the Church!

I gave up my wishful thinking and realized as I matured, that I would have to deal with the world on it's terms, that the lion will never lay down with the lamb (unless it is so full it is nearly bursting and can't move - therefore not for long) and that nature drives this planet, regardless of how I think it should be run.

And other humans with a different viewpoint than mine and who wish to overwhelm me or kill me will have to be dealt with as we deal with wild animals who want to do the same, as harsh as that may sound. Survival - or disappearance.

Have we not been here before? In the late 1920's, a book which described in detail what the fate of non-believers (Jews, political opponents) would be was written by a man who had a psychology comparable to that of Muhammad. Nobody took these writings seriously except for the one man who would become the nemesis of the author. Mein Kampf and the Koran are one and the same and Winston Churchill is the most prescient man who has ever lived. His record is second to none - in the 1930's, he alone stood against the British establishment (including the BBC, still anti-Western) to warn us of the dangers of Nazism: at Stanford University in 1946, in his "iron curtain" speech, he laid bare to the US the true nature of communism; and most importantly, in his book The River War of 1903, he detailed the totalitarian and primitive nature of Islam from which Christianity is protected by "the strong arms of science". Political correctness did not exist in those days to shackle him as it does us.

It's a no-win situation,if the USA had rounded up those 19 hijackers I can assure you that CAIR's mouthpiece Ibrahim Hooper would spew his usual tripe about Islamophobia,Racism and profiling.
I know this because in Canada there were 19 Pakistani Sinni Muslims rounded up and CAIR did exactly that,they whined about Racism and profiling. All were young males,almost all use fake ID to get forged papers in Pakistan to apply for a Student-Visa to get to Canada,a bogus mail-order college run by a Immigrant sold enrollment
Certificates as a scam for foreign students,all over-stayed the Visa and never reported to renew
the Visa,two of them were taking Flying lessons
at a school that was near a Nuclear Power Plant,most lived in the same area and knew each other and the local Muslims stayed mute on these illegals that attended their Mosque each week.

After all of this, CAIR defended the 19 bogus students and insisted their Rights were violated when profiling was used to detain and deport them,seems that even one leader went as far to inist that even if they were terrorist that didn't justify using Profiling since it's a Racist
based attack on Muslims and part of the NorthAmerican Islamophobia.
Muslims love to use the "Innocent until proven guilty" mantra that really means "Catch me if you can Suckers",if these 19 students ended up killing thousands of Canadians I assure you CAIR will blame the Canadian Security forces for not preventing it and causing Muslims to be victims of backlash as scapegoats for bigots and racists.

Pesonally there's little time for me to worry about a few Muslims that have had their feelings hurt from Jihadists that did un-Islamic acts against non-Mulims,they don't seem to feel any
anger for the Mosques being used as weapon depots and slaughter houses.
Since they are such cowards to confront evil,we'll kill them and make sure the moderate Muslims are real Moderate Muslims and not closet-Jihadists.

I admire you enormously but on this particular instance, the same way you call the deluded Dutch spy master naive I would apply it to anyone who thinks there's any sort of solution to extricate ourselves from the present 'fifth columnism' morass other than a complete ban on anything islamic in our soil, which in pratical terms amounts to the total negation of entry visas to people from 'Muslimland' and the systematic deportation of those already living in our countries. I know it sounds drastic ant to many people an unfeasible endeavor, but only if we set our goals in Mars we will eventually be able to reach the Moon. Or, as we say over here: "A grandes males, grandes remedios". Hugh, I know you understand it, so for the sake of the rest of us JW'ers not fluent in Spanish I shall translate it: "The larger the problem, the greater the remedy".
