ISTANBUL (AFP) -- Turkish nationalists chanting slogans and waving the flag of an extreme right-wing party Thursday tried to disrupt a Greek Orthodox religious ceremony here called the benediction of the waters of the Bosporus, eyewitnesses said.As part of a tradition dating back to Byzantine times, a crucifix is thrown into the waters and young divers plunge in, competing to recover it.
Some 60 nationalists interrupted the proceedings waving flags of the National Action Party (MHP) and chanting: "This is Turkey here, like it or leave it."
Hundreds of members of Istanbul's Greek Orthodox community attended the traditional ceremony held every January 6, the date of the Orthodox Christmas, on the banks of the stretch of water known as the Golden Horn, which cuts into the western side of the Bosporus dividing the city's European and Asian sides.
Police held the intruders back, and they later made an equally unsuccessful attempt in fishing boats to invade the section of water where the ceremony took place.

How shameless the unworthy who make demands with the confidence of a King and all the world trembles before them. What manner of sorcery is this?
P.S. This article may explain the absence of an attack in the U.S. But I doubt that such backdoor "diplomacy" actually occured. More likely we agreed to make islam the official religion in a hundred years or so in exchange for a hudna.

"Traditional" usually means that this ceremony has been going on for a long time. Muslims have been successful in demoralizing, silencing, and expelling ancient Christian cultures from the Middle East in recent times as Islam allows no other religion to exist openly. This is another attempt at the same.

"This is Turkey here, like it or leave it."??? That is an odd thing for a muslim to say to the Greek Orthodox community, seeing as the Greeks were on the land long before mohamed started his rantings and ravings. It would be like me telling one of my native relatives, "Hey, this is Canada, love it or leave it." they would soon let me know their personal thoughts on that topic.

I am finding it amazing how Intolerant and close-minded most people on the Left are (not the guys here, mind- with the exception of kj). In a thread I started on another site I repeated hear about 'racism' or 'prejucdice against an entire faith.' These people deliberately ignore anything that counters what they want to believe- and then they turn around and blame Christians for anything and everything. Talk about Hypocrisy.
This bit in Turkey ought to show the kind of religous hypocrisy that one should expect from islam- how long will it take the Left to see it?
But I forget... they Cheer for this kind of thing. Until the day their own throats are on the blade...

Talking about 'Racist' do you remember Damilola Taylor murder case in Britain!It was some years ago when a ten yr 'dark skinned' boy was stabbed with a broken bottle and bled to death in a stairwell on a Housing Estate in South London. Police have just arrested 19 YR Hassan Jihad [obviously well named] a 17 yr and 16 yr old who can't be named because they are protected by [Liberal] Youth Law. At the time of shocking murder of this Schoolboy, Hassan Jihad would have been 14 yrs old...

I think this could very well happen and a lot of other people must think so as well. I have always believed that a lot of those like minded people were in positions to bring such a thing about.
I hope it does not happen but I would have no problem with it if anything close to 9/11 happens again in this country. Sometimes you just have to put dangerous animals and people down to protect everyone else. If terrorist morons make the stakes large enough that putting nations or a religion down makes sense, they are only digging their own graves, and have themselves to blame if it comes about.
The Islamic world will have to wake up to this or go into the dark, albet with a big bright flash.

If you want to obliterate something in Saudi Arabia, Mecca and al Medina are the wrong targets. They are not natural Wahhabi strongholds. If you are going to go that route, target central Saudia Arabia.
At any rate, I doubt the truth of the report. No need to really. Keeping the idiotic "No blood for Oil" slogan in the back of mind, take close look at a map of the area, and think of a different liquid. Oil pipelines aren't the only thing with off valves.

The MHP is regarded as a fascist-like party, they're part of the Grey wolves : Heavy Turkish Nationalist paramilitary organisation.

I get online regulary on IRC's Undernet, on a european politics channel.
A Greek, whom I trust, was able to inform me that the MHP has assisted Chechen rebels to attack Russian targets in Cyprus.
They crossed from northern ciprionistan to southern kibristan.
