Egypt: Christian Fights "Contrived" Criminal Charges

I don't know Shafik Saleh Shafik, but I do know that there are many instances of Coptic Christian girls being kidnapped and forced to convert to Islam -- so many that even Pope Shenouda spoke out against this, despite his keen awareness of the risks involved in doing so. From Compass Direct, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:

February 16 (Compass) -- The criminal trial of Egyptian Christian Shafik Saleh Shafik, begun in mid January, has been ordered postponed until February 20 by the presiding judge, who accepted defense petitions to summon key witnesses and police reports related to the case.

As the director of a home for troubled Coptic girls, Shafik faces criminal charges of holding Magda Refaat Gayed, 16, against her will and without her parents’ permission, beating her and attempting to rape her.

The defendant dismisses all the charges as “contrived” attempts to halt his recovery ministry among young Coptic girls, who he says are being enticed to leave their families and convert to Islam.

Magda had escaped from Shafik’s “safe-house” residence for girls in Cairo last September 6, the day after she arrived. Her parents had placed her there under Shafik’s guardianship when the girl was returned home by police, who located her living with an Islamist group two weeks after she had disappeared from home....

Shafik told Compass that he got an anonymous call from someone two weeks ago, asking him to accept into his care a Muslim girl who wanted to convert to Christianity. “This was clearly a set-up,” he said. “The fanatic groups have my phone number, and I sense they are trying to find out where my new safe-house is located.”

Read it all.

“This is absolutely illegal,” Shafik told Compass last week. “She is not yet 18. According to the law, they are obliged to follow Articles 12, 13, 15 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Egypt’s family law statutes do not allow minors to marry, convert to another religion or transact any legal action without their father’s permission.

Even though Egypt’s state security police had bowed to the family’s demands to return her home after she disappeared, they now appear to be cooperating with an extremist Muslim group holding Magda in an unknown location for the past five months.

Islam, doesn’t care about human rights or the law, Islam only cares about Islam.

I saw the AMW show with John Walsh and the Coptic family murder was finally exposed in the mainstream media, sadly though, the one Christian
relative had to state on TV to the public that the murders aren't being assumed as Muslims revenge and may be a robbery.
Also AMW showed the Christian being taken away while not a mention of the Muslims that tried to hijack the funeral for their on gains, the show was subtle with the Islam connection but once the killers are caught and end up being Muslims, the show will blast the news Nation wide and CAIR
won't be able to attack FOX for telling the truth
about a real sleeper-cell in America.

Lets see how well the Muslims assist the Police on finding the killers,it's assumed to have happened on 1/11 and Muslims only need to check
up on the whereabouts of a Muslim friend or brother on that day.
Of course that relies on the assumption Muslims want to find the killers, since the capture could spell bad news for Muslims I doubt they'll
want to shoot themselves in the foot on this one.

This is probably just a way to keep the pressure on (or punish) American Copts for going public about the Armanious murders. Remember, Egypt gets 2+ billion in aid per year from the U.S.--over 50 billion since 1974. The Egyptian Muslims do not want anyone to jeopardize that aid money. See here about the Muslim-on-Copt murders in New Jersey:
