UK: Terror threat from 'very many' Muslim men, says Met chief

Watch for the hue and cry. But what did he say that was inaccurate? From the Telegraph, with thanks to all who sent this in:

Britain faces a potential terrorist threat from "very many" Muslim men who returned to Britain after spending time in training camps in Afghanistan, the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police said yesterday.

Sir Ian Blair, whose force, with MI5, leads anti-terrorism work in Britain, was asked if he supported the assertion of the Prime Minister earlier this week that there were "several hundred people in the UK plotting terror attacks".

The commissioner told LBC radio in London: "Yes, I am aware of the fact that there are very many people who came back from the camps in Afghanistan and who are therefore potentially a threat to the United Kingdom.

"And I agree with the Prime Minister's assessment, on that basis, that there are hundreds of people who came back from the camps and are now in the United Kingdom, and that is a very dangerous issue for us all."

Scotland Yard sources made clear Sir Ian was referring to training camps run by al-Qa'eda and the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, which were destroyed in the military campaign by American and British forces after the attacks on New York and Washington in September 2001.

Security chiefs have said privately for some time that the radicalising influence of the "jihadists" who attended the camps and went to Muslim-related conflicts in Bosnia, Chechnya and Kashmir is at the heart of the threat to Britain.

Saajit Badat, from Gloucester, who admitted plotting to blow up an airliner with a shoe bomb, spent time in the camps...

The fact that 9/11, 3/11,Bali etc etc were carried out by moslems, the fact that the koran spews hate is irrelevant.

This is islamophobia.
Thats all.

All chinese must be searched, the buddhists as well.
The sikhs, who knows what they hide under those turbans?

Aussies, well what can I say ?

No doubt the PC crowd will be screaming soon.

I have started reading "The myth of islamic tolerance" in public now, I always make sure it is at eye level on the train/tube/bus, so that everyone can see it.

The sikhs, who knows what they hide under those turbans?

lol! Lots and lots of hair!

When I think about the dosh the UK is currently spending on the Islamic terrorist game -- yikes! The street policing, intelligence services, new prisons, new mosques, halal food services, legal prosecution costs, legal defense costs, etc., etc. At this rate, it would be more economical to simply roll over and institute the jizya.

Unfortunately,he goes on to say:

"...there are people within that community who misguidedly, and entirely in conflict with the values of Islam, are prepared to use violence against the United Kingdom".

Aargh!

Still, I suppose we should be grateful for small mercies.

If you google the name "Cherie Blair" all sorts of things come up that you will have difficulty believing. They are the kinds of things only a fool, a fool hoping to rake in Saudi money, would say. Forget about her comment that "Palestinian bombers" did what they did only because they felt they had no other way to express themselves (this from the most well-publicized, funded, fashionable cause in the Western world -- even if one that relies on rewriting international law, history, and morality).

Here is something from a newspaper acocunt about a dinner attended by Cherie Blair in December 2003:

"Cherie was speaking at a dinner held in the House of Lords on Monday to promote Muslim women in public life, an event also attended by the Saudi ambassador to Britain.

Addressing Prince Turki al-Faisal, Cherie said: "I am so delighted that his Royal Highness came from Saudi Arabia because as I said to your wife when I met her Sir, Saudi Arabia's image in the world is appalling and we need to do something about that, we need to help you do something about that."

She added: "Part of the reason it's appalling is the perception that you treat your women like they are not equals but some sort of 'other'.

"And I know that that is not in fact the reality. You have many strong women."

Cherie, a Roman Catholic, vowed to change the "perception of Islam being backward-looking, oppressive - somehow not as good as western Christianity".

She added: "Some of you know my own religion has not always been in the forefront of women's rights, and indeed still isn't sadly."

The Saudi ambassador said he was not offended "at all" by her comments, according to The Independent.

No, of course he wasn't offended. Why should he be? She deserves a grateful check or sinecure, and her husband a few wellpaid speaking-engagements in Saudi Arabia, but only as long as he plays his cards right, doing everything he can to deflect attention from Islam and put it squarely where it doesn't belong -- on the "Israel/Palestine" question, as they now call it so carefully in Western Europe.

Silvester:

'The values of Islam?'- Just, what are they?

Just what IS the value of a terrorist guidebook 12 or 13-hundred years old? An ideology that makes it alright to steal, lie, cheat, kill and subject women to ghosts in black, only to be used to produce little suicide bombers?

Every other cult, any criminal organisation with such an agenda would be outlawed and banned under existing laws.

In the case of Mohammeds terror the people entrusted with defending our interests are scrambling for cover.

We better get organized!

"The values of Islam?" Considering her behaviour in recent years, there can be very little doubt that to Cherie Blair QC they are purely financial values.
