Pressured Australian Cleric Withdraws Rape Statement

Another update on this story, from Australian News, with thanks to Nicolei:

SYDNEY'S Islamic community yesterday condemned one of its own leaders who claimed rape victims had no one to blame but themselves.

But as Muslims inundated Arabic-speaking radio stations to deplore Sheik Faiz Mohamad's controversial comments, the Muslim leader apologised.

The apology came as the Sheik appeared to insist that rape victims were still "partly" accountable for what happened to them.

The 34-year-old former Australian boxing champion admitted he used an address at his Global Youth Islamic Centre in Liverpool to assert rape victims who dressed in skimpy clothing brought it on themselves..

The Sheik yesterday backed away from his comments, claiming he had been misunderstood and had made a mistake.

"I know I said something not thinking at that time. However, with all honesty from the depths of my heart, I never meant it like this," he said.

"Maybe I should have said it another way meaning they are attracting to themselves and are partly to blame but not fully to blame."

Arabic radio station 2ME morning host Anis Ghanem said he was inundated with calls yesterday from people outraged by the comments.

He said the station had received more than 100 calls, with just three defending the Sheik's right to free speech.

A dozen Muslim organisations yesterday joined forces to deplore the comments, saying: "The responsibility for an evil act such as rape lies solely at the feet of the person who commits it. There is never an excuse for rape. Rape, being one of the most heinous of sins, can never be justified on the grounds of dress."

The organisations include the al-Ghazzali Centre for Islamic Sciences and Human Development, the Australian Muslim Civil Rights Advocacy Network (AMCRAN), the Muslim Village Network, the Islamic Foundation of Australia (IFA) and the Muslim Women's National Network of Australia (MWNNA).

Jamila Hussain of the MWNNA said the Sheik's comments would "only really reflect a very small, very conservative minority of Muslims"...

It is impossible for me to imagine that any of this "outrage" stems from any other sentiment other than outrage over the Sheik's premature revelation of the Muslim community's design of conquest and ultimate subjugation of the Australian people, by violence when the time is right. This communal behaviour pattern of Muslims has repeated itself endlessly for more than 1400 years. Why does the present generation of non-Muslims worldwide have so much difficulty in remembering that much history?

G-d forbid male Muslims show any restraint or self control amidst bare shoulders and midrifts. It's just like those deserving tramps in Afghanistan who didn't paint their windows black so that any freak could look in. And licking an ice cream cone in public was against the law. Women had to eat ice cream cones in a special tent or be beaten by the Taliban. Can you imagine how these depraved cretins went beserk at the sight of a women innocently licking an ice cream cone!

According to this cleric (and many others), males can and should have no personal responsibility in the crime of rape because they are unable to restrain themselves. Thus, even women caught in a confined area through no fault of their own will be raped because "men can't help themselves" as it is their nature to rape. Women are criminals for not for tempting them, but for reminding them of their lack of character and psychological weakness. They don't want to be reminded that they are weak and flawed and unable to restrain themselves...

If men throughout the world can restrain their impulses, why can't Muslim men?

epg:

The answer to that is somewhat obvious.

It has to do with a primitive, barbaric mindset that is nurtured, encouraged and reinforced by a primitive, barbaric totalitarian ideology.

The Quran speaks to how to clean yourself with dirt if you happen to rape a woman on the way to the mosque. Women are dirtier than dirt and clearly statse women must keep everything covered so as not to be “annoyed” Mohammed said he used as few word with the widest meaning Judge for your self.
If they don’t like islam perhaps they should leave, I’m sure they don’t like islam unveiled what’s what causes them to squeal

O', those Muslim women, hiding their enticing forms under those sweeping burqas and snug little hijabs just drive me crazy!!!

I can only imagine what nubile jewels of eros they are cloaking there so alluringly and mysteriously!

Don't they know how it drives Western men (so used to all of that mundane and boringly exposed flesh of their mere 'infidel' women) absolutely bananas to contemplate the secret gardens ensconced beneath those flowing, sexually-charged 'tents of Allah's libidinious delight'?!?

How can we keep from succumbing to these tempting trollops of Islam?

I say, make these hussies of the Hadiths leave our lands before we do something that will make us seem like Muslim men!

(I must now go take a cold shower and recite Sura 6:7. Or maybe 6:8, the one about the "angel"...sigh....)

About the hijab and chador and burqa making women modest and free from the sexual desires of men:

I put chador in the search engine, and one of the things that came up was a BDSM group who said that women who wore the chador was erotic to people who are into bondage, disciple, sadism and masochism.

I guess the chador is up there with whips and kinky leather.

It all boils down to the fact that muslim men are not taught any form of self restraint by either their families or their societies.

A woman walking in the street in anything less than a chador/burka, whatever, is described as 'naked' and as such is committing 'an act of aggression' against men. She is therefore asking for it.

I read somewhere a while ago that in one particular country, or region, sorry I don't have a link, and cannot remember exactly where it was, that women who exposed their very faces were regarded as whores.

How can this warped mindset ever be overcome?

I wish you all could have seen the Rape Sheik cornered by several TV news teams - they pressured the little weasel til he hollered for mercy.

Absolutely NOBODY in Sydney is buying the 'misunderstood and misinterpreted' line. Keysar Trad - spokesman for the Islamic community (why do Muslims need a spokesman? I dont think other ethnic groups have official spokesmen) was interviewed on the channel nine morning program and the first thing he said was that the speech had been 'misinterpreted'.

The interviewer all but laughed at him. She read the original statement out loud and asked him how this could possibly be misunderstood. She also asked him how Muslims could say and listen to such things when there are many Muslim men in prison at this moment for racial gang rape.

It was good to see this hypocrite squirming.

A Victorian sex offender, serving ten years, takes the Salvation Army court because they offended his beliefs on Witch Craft!

Religious vilification laws in Victoria - aren't they great!

http://www.abc.net.au/rn/talks/8.30/relrpt/stories/s1353468.htm

Ahhhh, isn't that nice: Satanic sex offenders and Muslims go hand in hand to trample Australian freedom of speech. What a wonderful thing to behold. It’s only a matter of time before they go around shooting up tourist buses.

A friend of mine knows an Algerian convert to Christianity whose family told him that "all was forgiven", and that he should visit them in Algeria. He did - and he has subsequently gone missing and is feared dead. I'm sure only a small percentage of Australian Muslim outrages ever get reported. My favourite story of recent weeks, is not the pro-rapist mufti ("go gang rape those Aussie girls - they're asking for it!"), but the court case surrounding the shotgun attack of Bankstown police station, which forced officers to duck for cover and wrecked its front. Apparently Muslim brothers were sending a message to police to stop "harassment". Oh, Bankstown, by the way, is Sydney's dark heart of Islam. If you're visiting Sydney and you want to be mugged at knifepoint, be sure to pay sunny Bankstown a visit! Oh, but don't try and get a cab to go there after dark - the driver will refuse to go.
