Saudis Do Destroy Bibles, Think Tank Affirms

From CNS News, with thanks to EPG.

A U.S.-based think tank critical of the Saudi government has added its voice to allegations that authorities in the kingdom routinely destroy Bibles.

"As a matter of official policy, the government either incinerates or dumps Bibles, crosses and other Christian paraphernalia," the Saudi Institute said in an article posted on its website.

"Although considered as holy in Islam and mentioned in the Koran dozens of times, the Bible is banned in Saudi Arabia, and is confiscated and destroyed by government officials," it said.

Last week a Christian pastor who worked in Saudi Arabia during the 1990s told Cybercast News Service it was widely known among underground Christians there that Bibles were confiscated -- and sometimes shredded -- by Saudi customs officials at ports of entry.

The Saudi Embassy in Washington has yet to respond to emailed queries about its policies regarding the Bibles and the shredding allegations.

Saudi Arabia was one of the first governments to protest after Newsweek reported earlier this month that U.S. troops had thrown a Koran into a toilet to fluster Muslim terror suspects being detained by the U.S. military at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.

A statement issued on May 12 said the Saudi government was "following with great concern and apprehension reports that the sanctity of the Holy Koran has been violated on several occasions at Guantanamo Bay."..

Has anyone read about the pastor in North Carolina who put up a sign outside his church saying "The koran needs to be flushed down the toilet" http://newsobserver.com/news/ncwire_news/story/2439884p-8844338c.html

Immediately CAIR's on the case but the pastor stands defiant. Maybe he should receive a few supportive emails...

H. Res. 288.

Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives condemning bigotry and religious intolerance, and recognizing that holy books of every religion should be treated with dignity and respect.

Whereas believers of all religions, including the Abrahamic faiths of Christianity, Judaism and Islam, should be treated with respect and dignity;

Whereas the word Islam comes from the Arabic root word meaning “peace” and “submission”;

Whereas there are an estimated 7,000,000 Muslims in America, from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds, forming an integral part of the social fabric of America;

Whereas the Quran is the holy book for Muslims who recite passages from it in prayer and learn valuable lessons about peace, humanity and spirituality;
Whereas it should never be official policy of the United States Government to disparage the Quran, Islam, or any religion in any way, shape, or form;

Whereas mistreatment of prisoners and disrespect toward the holy book of any religion is unacceptable and against civilized humanity;

Whereas the infringement of an individual’s right to freedom of religion violates the Constitution and laws of the United States: Now, therefore, be it

1 Resolved, That the House of Representatives–

(1) condemns bigotry, acts of violence, and intolerance against any religious group, including our friends, neighbors, and citizens of the Islamic faith;

(2) declares that the civil rights and civil liberties of all individuals, including those of the Islamic faith, should be protected;

(3) recognizes that the Quran, the holy book of Islam, as any other holy book of any religion, should be treated with dignity and respect; and

(4) calls upon local, State, and Federal authorities to work to prevent bias-motivated crimes and acts against all individuals, including those of the Islamic faith.

From disillusioned_german's link,

"Christians often ask themselves, 'What would Jesus do?'" said the group's spokesman, Ibrahim Hooper. "I don't think Jesus, who is loved by Muslims and mentioned frequently in the Quran, would use such hate-filled and divisive rhetoric."

Yes, Ibrahim. Use the sweetness and light tactic. Tell us how muslims love Jesus. What he won't say is the muslim Jesus is a warrior who is coming back to earth to kill all Christians and break all the crosses. I am so sick of the double-talk, muslims are expert at slight of hand.

My letter to Conyers,

My head hangs low to think that you now support a religion that has taken more than ten million innocent lives since the year 1100.

Even today the count steadily rises.

You've sold your sole, and now you can wait for your next set of instructions from the Muslim community.

I find the comment that "Jesus was loved by muslims" was interesting. Since Jesus said He was the only way. If the muslims call Jesus a prophet and not the Son of God, then who are they loving? And aren't they calling him a liar or wrong by believing someone else.

The ACLU will be on the scene soon in North Carolina. I suggest we send this pastor support, moral, pray, or money. We don't see many people taking a stand and when they do we should stand with them.

Everyone expects them to be cultural savages, and thus no one is surprised when they behave like spiritual terrorists and theocratic Nazis.

(But the rumor of one flushed Koran by the U.S. sends the Islamic world into a sanctimonious seizure... why? Because the Americans are supposed to be civilized.)

Time for a gathering of outraged freedom-loving people at the Saudi embassy to protest THEIR Bible-shredding, extreme religious intolerance, rabid anti-semitism and Christophobia.

Memorial Day would be a good time.

Anyone near D.C., with that day off, should consider a sidetrip to the Saudi site to demand that these Wahhabi-supporting s.o.b.'s stop destroying the holy books and the objects of faith of every other religion on Earth.

A FEW SAMPLE POSTERS MIGHT READ:

"STOP THE SAUDI DESECRATION OF OTHER RELIGIONS NOW!"

"HEY, HEY, SAUDI A.!!
How Many Bibles Have You Shredded Today?!"

"WHY DOES ISLAM REQUIRE CONTEMPT FOR ALL OTHER FAITHS?!"

Contact your representatives to demand that they tell the Saudis to stop their intolerant outrages NOW.
