Worshiping the Koran, flushing reason

This article by Rudolf Ogoo Okonkwo comes from www.kwenu.com (thanks to Charles for the link), one of the websites of the Christian Igbos of Biafra, which is (unfortunately) at present a part of Nigeria. All the riots from 1945 till present enumerated in the article have been against the Christian Igbos, who need the help of the West to be saved from annihilation; but is anyone here paying attention?

It is good to see this kind of common sense coming from a non-Western source; it makes it harder for the dhimmis and apologists to claim that it's all because of Orientalism, imperialism and racism.

In November of 2002, world’s attention focused on Nigeria where Miss World pageant was to take place. Days before the pageant, amidst criticisms by Islamic groups that the pageant promotes promiscuity, a Nigerian newspaper published an article in which the writer suggested that Islam’s prophet, Muhammad, would have approved the pageant and would have chosen a wife amongst the contestants.

The article sparked a religious riot in which over 200 people were killed and thousands injured. The next day, the newspaper published an apology. It was later followed by a retraction.

The president of Nigeria went on national television and blamed the media for the riot. He said, “It could happen anytime irresponsible journalism is committed against Islam.”

The president’s reaction saddened me. But I told myself, here was a Third World country, what could one expect?

Then last month, Newsweek published an article in which it alleged that U. S prison guards desecrated the Koran by flushing it down the toilet in Guantanamo Bay. Riots flayed in several Islamic countries over the story. About 16 people died in Pakistan.

The riots did not surprise me. What shocked me was the reaction of the White House to the story. It was the same reaction that a Third World president gave when faced with the same challenge – blame the media.

Watching White House’s Scott McClellan and the Pentagon react to the story, I could not help but to cry out, “America capitulates!”

And that is not the sad part. The sad part is that with America pandering to irrationality, there is nobody else with the courage to stand up for reason.

Read it all.

You come up with some brilliant links from websites and perpspectives that I would never come across otherwise. Thank you.

It is a very powerful article.

In Ann Coulter's book "How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must)", she wrote these words in an excellent article from November 28, 2002: "The Religion of Peace suffered another PR setback this week when Muslims in Nigeria welcomed the Miss World beauty pageant by slaughtering Christians in the street and burning churches to the ground." (page 39, 2004 hardback edition).
Anybody with any sense can see that the actions of Muslims overtake any PR they attempt. The media, however, try to promote the PR.

He said, “It could happen anytime irresponsible journalism is committed against Islam.”

If Islam were a person would anyone make such a statement? The world would not tolerate such behavior from a person. Would it? They would be restrained or otherwise prevented from killing people over "words."

If Islam were a government the world would not allow it to kill citizens over "news articles." Would it?

Why then does Islam "the religion" get a free pass to commit murder over what amounts to nothing?

This administration is committing a terrible error aligning itself with the likes of the president of Nigeria.

Human rights trump the rights of books or gods, God, Jehovah, Allah, Vishnu, Brahma, Shiva, Buddha, Space Brothers, and all the dead prophets.

That is one of the main reasons why we have and must preserve the seperation of church and state in America!! Islam must be restrained.

f.g.

"Blame the media"??

Well, sure. Since the story was made up and all, it must really be the White House's fault. 'Natch.

That Karl Rove! Oooooooh!

The only beauty pageant Mohammad would have been interested in was the kind with the tragically murdered little girl Jon Benet Ramsey.

200 people died and it's not our fault? What utter contempt over the blazingly obvious. We wimper while the West burns. Only in Islam does the death of 200 irreplaceable human beings is blamed on a newspaper article and no one blinks. A 'free ride' this is indeed f.g. and one that is coming to an end, God willing.
