Bangladesh Islamic group protests US lawmaker's remark

Maybe I was wrong here: maybe the threat to target Muslim holy sites would be an effective deterrent to terrorist activity. Certainly if it has jihadist thugs like the Hizb-ut-Tahrir gang in a froth, it demonstrably rattles them. In any case, I firmly believe there should be a free and open discussion of this question, not a witch-hunt targeting Congressman Tancredo.

From the IANS, with thanks to Nicolei:

Hundreds of Islamic fundamentalists took to the streets in this Bangladeshi capital Friday denouncing the remarks made by a US congressman against Muslim holy cities of Makkah and Medina in Saudi Arabia.

Led by Islamic outfit Hizbut Tahrir, they took out a procession after the noon prayer and held a rally near the national mosque in downtown Purana Paltan.

They chanted slogans against the US, India and Israel branding them anti-Islamic forces.

Hizbut Tahrir leaders urged the Muslim community to stand up against the US threat of aggression against Islam. They said Muslims of the world would protect their holy places with their blood, if needed.

This is honored company. Anybody the islamists deem 'anti-islamic' simply has to be good, seems like.

Looks like we touched a nerve!! We should support Tom Tancrado and show him support. I called his office and let him know I agree with what he said. He was only saying if they did attack several cities and million perished we should level their holy sites and I agree 1,000%. If they don't attack our cities first their holy sites are safe.

"They said Muslims of the world would protect their holy places with their blood, if needed."

Just give them the time and date so they can protect their holy places.

We don't even need nukes for that.

Their blood will not stop the 'daisy-cutters' - how many do we need?

To rid them of Mekka and some of their worst lunatics might just do the trick: Kaaba gone, Mekka gone, Medina next...

That might bring some of them to their senses. I would have done that right after 9/11....

And then the oil. Just occupy the oilfields and chase these miserable Beduins back into the desert, make and end to this spook. Sooner the better...

Now what the hell has India or for that matter Israel done to anger these insolent jackasses. If it hadnt been for India, they'd still be under Punjabi slavery.

At various sites you may see pictures of an unfortunate Hindu man who happened to be walking by a mosque as Friday Prayers got out. Now everyone in the Islamic world knows what Friday Prayers can do, how excitable people can become when they've just had a booster shot of that old-time religion -- and I don't mean that other kind of old-time religion, the one with Walker-Evens-gaunt farmers and sharecroppers in the south, clutching the Good Book, and singing their hymns -- no, I mean the old-time religion, that is also the only religion, of what Churchill called the "votaries of Muhammad," their faces and eyes in a fine frenzy rolling, and as they came out of the Friday Prayers, the words of the imam, the words of "tolerance" and "peace" -- for that is what Blair and Bush and much of the Western world has told us, that Islam is a religion of "tolerance" and "peace" -- were no doubt ringing in their ears, and they saw this Hindu man, and naturally, they gathered round, and begin to slowly, with a great deal of merriment and laughter, and delight in their eyes (look at the pictures on-line) to beat and stab him to death. The same kind of delight that that crowd of "Palestinians" had in Ramallah when they gouged out the eyes and mutilated, as they killed, those two Israeli reservists who had taken a wrong turn -- and then the killers held their hands dripping with the yahoodi blood up for the crowd's delight, and their own. Or the Fallujah mobs, who so enjoyed ripping apart, and hanging bits of flesh up, on a pole, on a bridge, anywhere they could, of those four Americans killed and dismembered. Or that Somali mob, dragging the American pilot's body through the streets -- what fun! our favorite form of recreation!

Many Hindus have been murdered in Bangladesh. Many Muslims in Bangladesh who have not immediately flocked to the banner of Islam (i.e., of Pakistan) were murdered by razakars during the 1971 war for Bangladesh's independence. The massacures of Hindus, the attacks on Christians, even the threats against the last remaining native (i.e., non-Tibetan) Buddhists -- all this is Bangladesh today.

Riot, will they? Let them riot. And make sure, the next time you are in the U.K., or in the United States, in choosing a restaurant -- you avoid those with a Bengali connection. No need to help feed the tiger, or the tiger cubs, not yet ready to show their growing fangs, their growing claws. And there just aren't enough infidel Jim Corbetts around to handle these particular anthropoid versions of Corbett's Man-Eaters of Kumaon.

Robert,
Listened to your show last nite and I think you got your message across very nicely. A gold star to you from Catherine. I was a bit surprised by your diplomacy in handling Linda's (I think she posts here under "Just_Linda") call regarding her assetion that the Anti-Jihad campaign was being "hijacked" by conservatives. No offense to Linda, but I thing she is dead wrong in making that accusation. You politely suggested in effect that more and more liberals are starting to hear the message and you welcome them on board. I would maintain however, that the message has always been there but they have choosen NOT to listen and in many cases have actively thwarted our attempts in exposing the Jihadist campaign. Knowing this, you still made a gracious relply to her, I don't know if I would or could have been so diplomatic. Well done.

Back on topic, yes I firmly believe you are wrong in not backing the holy site destruction
scenario. This must be our ultimate response to an ultimate provocation. The thought of this must put dread into the minds of the Jihadis especially the ones in Saudi Arabia. Hell, I'd venture to say OBL is re-thinking his strategy right now in his SUL because we even dared to think about putting this option on the table. Of course this would probably open the flood gates to a muslim brouhaha, but then after the turkey shoot the issue would be settled once and for all. OBL and company would have to consider the above scenario if we offically adopted this policy. Please re-think your stance on this strategy. I know it's not pleasant to think of such things( millions and millions dead-AGAIN!) but our civilization is at stake and anything we can do to safeguard it is worth the price in my books.

William,

"[Linda's] assertion that the Anti-Jihad campaign was being "hijacked" by conservatives."

It has not been hijacked by conservatives: conservatives were the first and only ones to
pick up the issue in the first place. Since then, and only recently, a pitiful handful of Leftists have joined that beleaguered minority of Anti-Jihadist conservatives. Anti-Jihadism remains a largely conservative phenomenon.

It's ironic that some conservatives (including many pious Christians) who have a moral puritanical ideal and have some fuzzy problems with modern secularism -- it's profoundly ironic and telling that they were the first and only ones to unequivocally criticize and condemn the excessive moral puritanism, anti-liberalism, and anti-secularism of Islam. And the majority of Leftists continue to equivocate or outright defend that screamingly anti-liberal and anti-secular cultural system, Islam.

Even the majority of conservatives, however, are incapable of surmounting the hypnotic effect of the PC Leftist Zeitgeist the West now lives under, which prevents them from bluntly condemning Islam: the Triumvirate of Conservative Leaders of the Free World -- Bush, Blair and Howard of Australia -- all say repeatedly that Islam is a "religion of peace"!!!.

Robert, have you seen this refernce to nuking Muslim countries from historyofjihad.org. Now this was written some time ago, and the site's discussion of the 7th century jihad (the first 28 jihads). Very interesting ultimatum as part of the nuking.

Fascinating.. the entire section leading up to this conclusion.

http://www.historyofjihad.org/
....
Today if America wants to outdo the Jihadis at their own game it would do well, to emulate this Quranic principle of giving offense to the adversary (today’s Jihadis), and then going in to crush them utterly. America needs to realize that the only way of defeating the Jihad is by subjugating one Muslim country after another by taking out a few cities using nukes and neutrons and then giving them an ultimatum of leaving Islam or facing destruction. This is what Mohammed did to the Quraish, to the people of Taif, and this is also what the Muslims did to the Sassanian Persians, Byzantines, Visigoths in Al Andalus (Spain), and many others. It is high time to pay the Muslims with their own coin, and this is the only way to defeat them....

metaxy-

I have to personally disagree about 'conservatives' being in the vanguard against Imperialistic Islam.

Islam threatens the 'liberal' far more, since they tend to be skeptical of any 'delivered truth', with Islam being one of the most inflexible.

While the current (non-classical) 'liberals' hardly deserve the name (having morphed into one-eyed, one-note caricatures of the broader Jeffersonian ideal), the dyed-in-the-wool, old-style 'conservatives' tend to share much of the 'fundmentalist' fervor and irrationalistic core that the hard-line Muslim faithful also preach and uphold (hierarchical sexual control and repression, subjugation of women through patriarchal dominance, etc.)

I've always been a 'conservative' hawk on defense but a 'liberal' on many social values (freedom of speech and press- for adults, progressive views on science and art, a desire to see the government held in check from prying into personal beliefs, choices, etc.).

If the Libertarians had a foreign policy, I would tend toward their line, but have to stick with pragmatic realists (in the Teddy Roosevelt, Churchill, FDR vein), understanding that we are on a planet, and need a globally-reaching power to defend our liberties from less-enlightened states.

I've been liberally aware of the Islamic threat since the Beirut barracks bombing (that 'conservative' Reagan failed to respond to), and, while I thought that we should have begun THEN to destroy the incipient terrorists and disengage from dependence on the Muslim controlled sources of energy, I also felt that the government should meanwhile stay the hell out of most of what it snoops into ('victimless crimes').

It could then use this massively wasted effort (trying to oppose the id, in essence) and encourage self-sufficiency on the home front by promoting 'Manahattan Projects' in the sciences for medical breakthroughs (extending the healthy lifespan) and alternative energy sources (to hamstring our enemies' leverage in their control of fossil fuels, by developing fission, hydrogen, solar, wind, tidal, geothermal and other resources to unshackle the West from a fiscal and geo-political folly: in effect funding the jihadists).

In general, I see almost no distinctions worth noticing once your wake up to the despotic pan-Islamic threat. The 'conservative' and the 'liberal' both transform into freedom-loving human beings, and are able to transcend and dismiss their own relatively minor differences in order to battle the overwhelming challenge to their very lives

Knowing that the sword chops left and right.

Conserve freedom; liberate the mind.

I think we can all agree on that.

Unfortunately (perhaps), everyone is overreacting. Only "hundreds" of people demonstrated - in the overpopulated and violent capital of an overpopulated and violent Muslim state. Evidently Congressman Tancredo's message has not sunk in nearly as much as it should. However, should he become a presidential candidate....
