Bail set for Saudi man accused of raping, enslaving housemaid

An update on the Al-Turki case from the Denver Post, with thanks to Two Stellas.

Despite strenuous objections from prosecutors, a federal judge set bail Thursday for a Saudi Arabian man who is accused of raping his housekeeper and holding her as a virtual slave in his Aurora home.

U.S. District Judge Walker Miller set bail at $400,000, which is the amount the Saudi government has put up so Homaidan Al-Turki can bond out on related charges in state court. He will have to post $400,000 bail for each case.

"It was a close call, given the serious nature of the charges and the fact that he is a foreign national," Miller said. "We are an open society, and it's not too hard to get out of here."

Miller said that while the crimes were serious, the evidence presented thus far did not weigh heavily against setting bail. Also, Al-Turki had received extraordinary support from his community and academic peers. The decision overturned a ruling issued this month by a federal magistrate who denied bail in the case...

No wonder the community are supporting an accused rapist - god told him to do it.

This is happening all the time and is alarming. Now here is something I find even more alarming is the way this is being let slip by,even on this forum,

The size of the trial meant it took several hours to read the verdict
France has been shocked by the scale of abuse revealed at the Angers paedophile trial, where 65 adults were accused of sexually abusing 45 children.

It was the biggest criminal trial in recent French history.

please take a carefull look at the photo

as you will will see the woman is wearing an Islamic headscare.
what brougth this to my attention was I was watching footage of the defendants entering court and noticed another woman wearing a PLO headscarf
Not a towel,a blanket or a jacket with a hood but an islamic headscarf popular with north africans africans

the saudi's bought off the courts, coming to the rescue of another "good" muslim. the saudis don't expect to get their money back, and don't care, and the prosecutor doesn't expect to get his perp back.
maybe the saudi's will assure the US that they will try him "back home", in which case the victim will probably be charged with adultery. reminds me of a case covered in the Arab News, where a ex-pat domestic was chained to a toilet and repeatedly abused by both her employer and his wife. she lost fingers to gangrene, i recall,
and after an investigation conducted while the victim was in the hospital, i believe the finding was insufficient evidence regarding the main charges, with the couple charged with some minor infractions and the victim charged with slander or something like that.

additionally, i would be interested in seeing a description of his "community and academic peers".

Yes, who are these "community and academic" rally-rounders? Are they related to that Vice-President at Intel who would eat his words, his hat, his car phone, his car, if any of those preposterous charges made by the government against his true-blue well-paid engineer Mohammad "Mike" Hawash proved to be true, because they could not in a million years ever possibly be true until that moment when "Mike" Hawash admitted that, yes, those charges were -- all of them -- entirely true.

shiva,

Those women in that photo look like they are hiding their faces with their sweaters. I read through a few of the news stories, there doesn't seem to be a shred of evidence any Muslims were involved.

Saudis torturing their chattel slaves in the United States?!

YAWN!

I've Googled this subject before. The only Saudis in the U.S. who 'don't' torture their slaves are those who haven't been caught yet.

look at the woman in black and white, that is not a pullover covering here head.It is a head scarf
better known as a kuffiyeh (PLO head scarf).
I know this scarf very well, used to come in very handy when being teargassed at BZ demos in Copenhagen, and Hamburg.Or avoiding being photo-ed by the panzer,s (danish riot police)
So when I see two kuffiyeh, one being worn by a woman entering the court room, then another inside, then one does begin to put things together. Then reading the accused were mostly from deprived backgrounds and many of them were unemployed and had learning difficulties. Some were illiterate and appeared not to fully understand the charges they faced, defense lawyers said.
I can understand protecting the victims identity
but I think we should know more of the background
of this type of skum.
I know that things like this happen in Indonesia but not on this scale and the police do nothing. But for something like this happening in Europe boggles the mind

This is interesting because it seems the saudi governemnt is putting up his bail money..

If this was a non muslim raping a muslim woman the saudis would demand the death penalty.

Muslims around the world along with the Anti us media would publish this over and over until the muslims anger would spill into the street.

But if is a crime committed against a non mulsim oh well that ok according to mohammed..
Notice none of the main stream media has ever reported more than once on stories like this..

But reported 3000 times for 6 months the abu grau prison scandle.

Islam is SICK...

jingoist,

Islam is SICK...

Not really. It is doing just fine.
Islam, is a DISEASE - just like syphillis, AIDS or liver cancer.
It is the West that is sick, and will stay sick as long as it doesn't apply the antibiotic of moslem deportation.

"It is the West that is sick, and will stay sick as long as it doesn't apply the antibiotic of moslem deportation."

The Western disease currently (more in the last 50 years than before) is that it lacks antibodies and has too many pinko cells in its bloodstream.

The Saudi government is putting up the bail money. If an American abroad were accused of such acts abroad, can one conceive of the American government putting up bail? Why does the Saudi government always bail out every Saudi? Surely there is something beyond mere fellow feeling here. Could it be that this act is so common to rich Saudis that they would all be threatened if they were not assured of being rescued by the limitless financial resources of their malevolent government?

If the Saudi Gov't is putting up the $$, is this not a foreign gov't interfering with the USA legal system??? Where are the protests??? The Left could mount huge rallies about the war etc, but its OK for a foreign power to interfere with your legal system??

How dare this female 'unbeliever' take one of god's own to court. I mean he probably asked politely for a bit of adultry on the side and as an unbeliever this woman would have to be a slut anyhow. Had she agreed - no problem, but this 'slut' didn't so all this fine "upstanding (no pun meant) civilised?" saudi did was to follow the teachings of that ignorant, uneducated, illiterate, cave dwelling camel & goat raper mohomad. numbat

Judge Walker Miller is a Bill Clinton appointee in Denver. Does that explain anything?
The gay rights and pornography industry likes that venue for Free Speech litigation. No doubt everything is permitted except maybe a speech pointing out the facts of jihad.
