Mullah Hasib-ul-Hasan Siddiqui is full of imaginations about women fully covered with veils and by this he enjoys sexual pleasure mentally, if not physically. A revealing dress deprives him this. If other Indian muslim males are not taking him seriously, they are loosing this (imaginary) pleasure available free of cost. Siddiqui you are real muslim who cares about Ummah. This was hilarious as I saw it on national TV here in India. 4-5 bearded mullahs sitting in a dinghy room and commenting upon her dress sense. I really wish there was a spycam in there and see waht they were doing before the TV guys came in.

About the fatwa, mullahs said "anybody who wears skirts, shorts and sleeveless tops, a fatwa is automatically issued against them." The Mullahs talked of Iranian women badminton players who came to India and played here earlier this week. They were fully covered even while playing. But they were silent on Muslim actresses in Bollywood films who 'reveal'(allow smilies in here....shakes my head). Earlier also some fatwa's were issued against Sania and they went the same way this one's going....down the drain.

As for tennis, India's Mahesh Bhupathi is more in news as he won his ninth Grand Slam doubles tournament(2005 US Open mixed doubles title) along with Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchova.

Real muslim women should play tennis, and not only that, they should play in scanty attire. Tennis is more than just a sport, it is a means of social expression, of fashion, of political and religious self determination. Sania should wear even less clothing. Sure the fat-wads would fly, but eventually these demented clerics would get over it and start watching tennis for what it was invented for, 'girl watching'.

Right here in the borough of Queens, in the greatest city in the world, you can stand on the corner down the street from a large mosque on any afternoon, and see women to burkas, covered from their head to their toes, with only a slit for eyes, many kids in tow.
Of course, she is required by her faith to present herself in this way to the public, to worship separately from men, to by definition be a second-class gender to men for the rest of her life.
The reason this is troubling, and not simply a matter of culture and 'respect for diversity', is that this is not Kabul pre-Taliban, but the US.
This surface presentation represents an adherence to a religion that still has stone-age dictates regarding women. It is a clear representation of a strict fundamentalism, and you only have to be a casual reader of this site to know where fundamentalism leads. Go back two months to read about the perpetrators of the slaughter in London to find out a bit about the motivations of these sadist criminals. They all had 'deep religious awakenings', and sought to broaden their faith by conservative (read: fascist) Islamic teachings, to the extent that they were willing to abandon, families, lives, and futures, all in the name of their religion.

Sania is loved by every sensible Indian irrespective of their religion. She is also Daughter of the East(besides Benzir Bhutto). Problem lies with Mullahs, not with her. Sania deserves praise for her dedication to tennis. Every Indian muslim is not synonymous with mullahs. Most respectable person in contemporary public life in India is President His Ex. APJ Abul Kalam, a muslim by faith. I wonder why everybody is crying about Sania, pl.talk about misdeeds of real muslims(Mullahs).
