UK: 'Allah' ice-creams banned

icecream.jpeg
Judge for yourself

Dhimmitude On Ice, from the UK's Sun tabloid, with thanks to Granny Weatherwax and Giaour:

Cone-demned ... 'spinning whirl' ice creams look similar to the world Allah written in Arabic script

ICE creams are being withdrawn from Burger King — because a design on the lid looks like the word Allah.

The fast food chain has had dozens of complaints about the coloured symbol - meant to be a spinning whirl - on its range of BK Cones.

And it is, of course, caving rather than focusing on sanity.

Oh good God. Doesn't anyone, or any company, have the balls to say, "This is nuts."?

We're sinking fast. Too fast for my comfort.

All who live from selling on ebay will be snapping up these treats. I too want one. Please, put up details on how to get at least one.

Moderate Islam paranoia at it's best.
BurgerKing should just tell these nutters how to use these spinning whirls properly.
1)Insert tip into the opening of your brain.
2)Sit
3)Spin
4)Leave country

If Muslim BK Cone eaters held the label right side up instead of 90 degrees counter-clockwise they might view the image as a swirl of ice cream, as Burger King intended.

The problem arises when Arabic speaking immigrants refuse to adopt their host nation's language and thus conclude the inane.

Of course, this misunderstanding MUST be corrected as to not offend those whose view is skewed 90 degrees to the left.

Wait a minute... Are we discussing the complainants or the Whopper corp's knuckling-under by a fringe sucker punch?

Their frickin' egg-shelled sensitivities can take a flying leap. Their unholy koran offends the entire non-mulsim world as an infidel, ape, pig polytheist or blasphemer, all of whom nust be put to death by the hand of a good devout muslim, but fanciful logos on Nike shoes, the Coca Cola script and even the time honored crescent moon on an outhouse door in a cartoon strip is just too offensive to their oh-so-delicate sensitivities.

At this rate we may have to ban the use of the letter U & W in the Alphabet, as together if written in flowing hand, they spell (uW) Allah!! What next?
Stupidity reigns!!

Abdallah knew that one thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, he was going to take his little nephew,Abu,to Disneyland, but instead
drove him to an old burned-out warehouse.
"Oh no", he said, "Disneyland burned down!"
Abu cried and cried, but Abdallah thought that deep down, he thought it was a pretty good joke.
He started to drive over to the real Disneyland,
but it was getting pretty late.

It is clear that we in the Anglosphere will not do anything until the sitaution is dire. So in a way it is good that we appease. Britain and Canada are leading the appeasement stakes at the moment.

See

http://uppompeii.blogspot.com/

for the euro-dhimmivision contest.

A few reasons that appeasement may work in our favour.

1. Each appeasement raises the ire of people, till a moment arrives that a united nation says, "enough".

2. We need to arrive at that moment soon, and that means appeasement must be done as rapidly as possible, even when appeasement is not required. We need to get to the "enough" stage as quickly as possible before the demographic threat becomes unmanageable.

3. When we get to the "enough" stage, the nation is united in anger, and willing to bear any burden to remove the blackmailer and his society.

4. Continuous appeasement convinces even the LLL, that we have done everything to avoid a clash, and were left with no alternative but to wage ruthless war.

It has been the history of Britain and the USA, that both appease and appease, each appeasement encouraging the opponent to demand more, and so it continues, until the boom is swung with no mercy.

When the moment arrives to stop appeasing, we don't just stop appeasing, we completely destroy the opponent, and change his very outlook on life.

What would we expect from the most superstitious of all people, especially when they find "images" of Muhammad in the bottom of empty tomato cans, believe in the "evil eye", jinns, good/bad omens, and are convinced that a savage, medieval warlord was a prophet?

I wouldn't budge an inch for the entire ummah; it's a shame that Burger King has joined the long list of dhimmi suckers. The myopic world will eventually see the writing on the wall and Islam's bully reign of forced appeasement will finally be over. When they push the final button that heralds the end of Western tolerance, their native Islamic homelands will be their only sanctuary. Let's hope their exodus is a safe one.

When the rage of millions of Westerners can no longer be repressed, it won't be a happy day for our muslim invaders. Oh how I long for that day!!

Oh they will convert to Christainity as fast as they can get to the church. The prospect of going back to dar ul islam is worse the going to jail in a Western country. Why do you think we are having such great difficulty in getting rid of the Belmarsh detainess? They are perfectly free to go to any country of their choice, but yet prefer to be in prison in the UK.

Yeah, I was walking across the neighbour's lawn and I found an image of Mohammed on the sole of my boot later. I bent down to scrape it off, and hey, I saw a crushed bug on my coffee table that spelled out Allah in Mandarin. When I lifted the old cup off the table, well, can you believe it? I saw the faces of the Rightly Guided Caliphs hacking and hewing their ways through a panorama of infidels all a'yellin and a'shriekin, and it was terrible, so bad that I put the cup back down and put somebody's bra over it. Everywhere I look I see figures of Islam, classical arabesque swirls when the soapy water with hair in it goes down the drain. Wow, it's an Islamic world after all. It's so obvious.

Hey, there it is again, the smoke curling up from the back of the television! The flames climbing up the kitchen curtains. It's all a sign of Islam.

Oh no. They've found out where I live....

Why did The Sun use the word "banned" ? It wasn't banned.

I was once served an ice-cream cone (one fell scoop) at a Howard Johnson's in the summer of 1954 by none other than the young Jacques Chirac, whom I instantly recalled as soon as I saw his face when he became Mayor of Paris several decades ago. The flavor was pistachio. And I distinctly remember as well that when he served me, he made a special little swirl with the scoop on top, entirely his sua-sponte sponte idea, which resulted in a design that my recovered memory tells me looked very much like the suspect design on the Burger King cones causing so much trouble in England today.

I will try to keep this under my hat.

"If Muslim BK Cone eaters held the label right side up instead of 90 degrees counter-clockwise they might view the image as a swirl of ice cream"

Ethnocentrists!

KingTolerance: Islamic intolerance alert, Islamic Intolerance alert, Isla... oh damn, I keep forgetting, they have their "reasons".

Seriously, so the [bleep] what? It's a (supposedly) free country ain't it? Muslims can simply learn to grin and bear it, dammit. What is so bad about that? Oh, it's their inalienable right to never, ever, under any circumstances be "offended", their culture and all that, we need to "understand"...

(To the lefties: aren't small bits and pieces of "freedom" like this what knocked Christianity off its pedestal? Why is it so thoroughly evil to expose Islam to the same?)

I'm pleased this happened.

The Sun is a crass publication, but it's read by millions (unlike DW alas).

Millions of people will read this and wonder about the ultra-sensitive, interfering, paranoid and cantankerous nature of the Muslim community.

Timbo: Sun isnt exactly read by millions, most of 'em just take out the third page and chuck the rest of it inta the nearest bin.

Posted by: Vikrant_Camberleykar [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 17, 2005 3:51 AM

I didn't see this posted last night but I am glad it has piqued my DWfriend's interest.
The newspaper version had a little more detail and I have fished it out of the recycling bin for you.

Customer Rashad Aktar, 27, branded the design "sacrilegious" The business developement manager of High Wycombe said ".......I was humiliated......You are offending Muslims"
Last night Muslim Council spokeman Inayat Bunglawala praised the resturant chain. He said "We commend the sensitive and prompt action to prevent any hurt being caused to the religious senibilities of others"

Now I picked the paper up off of the seat next to me on the tube because I was bored. I know why Vikrant reads it [the football of course!!! :-)]
But I didn't have you down as a fan of the currant bun, Giaour! Cheers.
And Timbo, I agree.

"We commend the sensitive and prompt action to prevent any hurt being caused to the religious sensibilities of others".

Fair enough. But this point of view is laughed out of town when it comes to the religious sensibilities of non-muslim others. A bestseller book in the UK at the moment is called "Bigger Than Hitler, Better Than Christ" with the author, Rik Mayell, posing as Christ on the cover. Needless to say there are no fatwas, no book burnings, no threats to publishers and no concern shown about offending the religious sensibilities of others.

They should replace it with the red cross of the Knights Templar, the compass and square of the Freemasons, and the six-pointed star.

See how they like that.

"Ice creams are being withdrawn from Burger King — because a design on the lid looks like the word Allah."

Who says this is dhimmitude? I say it is anti-dhimmitude!

Any blasphemers against Islam will be flogged. By Mr Whippy!

Posted by: Interested [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 17, 2005 10:00 AM

I also say this is ANTI-dhimmitude. The West needs to be cleansed from any muslim symbols, including ice cream cones that have allah on them, and in particular the proposed "Crescent of Embrace" (what an outrage!).

If people buy another thing from Burger King, it isn't the labels on the products bought that need reading, it's their heads! Call the local phrenologist quickly!

A list of similar rediculous offenses should be kept and repeated in the comments of new articles. For example, another such 'humiliation' (chuckle) is the http://artsweb.bham.ac.uk/bmms/1998/05May98.html#China%20pigs%20controversy">Leicester China pigs controversy

Absurd! Rather than becoming British, this is an example of an immigrant group that is hustling its way in, imposing values and cultural change on the mainstream culture.

DP111

Are you talking about appeasing Muslims or Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton?
Just wondering.

Posted by: Azygos [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 18, 2005 2:16 PM

I think you guys are completely over-reacting.

If a company accidentally projected a subliminal message in their advertising that offended me (and such things do happen), I would be free to complain, and they could choose to act on my my complaint or not. If any Commie or Libertarian tried to attack either of us for it, I would assume they were trying to infringe my rights as a free man.

If any of the following happened:
- Muslim cleric declared a death fatwa against ice cream maker
- Government passed a stupid law against ice cream logos offending people (oops! that one might have already happened)
- ice cream shop fire bombed
- people eating ice cream assaulted, etc...
...I would be appalled and indignant.

But starting a storm in a teacup over a man's God-given right to gripe and whinge, well, you come across as bullies and busybodies, I'm afraid.

On a broader point, I think that immigration policies ought to take into account political and violence problems in applicant countries (eg. if we take Jewish refugees from Nazi Germany, we ought not take SS stormtroopers from there as well). But, once people are here (even if the decision to allow them in was ill advised), they have the right to be as cantankerous and unreasonable as the rest of us...

...and people who try and make political mileage out of that are the ones who will look bad.

At least I now Know the Arabic script for name of their freak moon god, so that when I see it I can eliminate it. It's just my little way of doing jihad.

Posted by: elvis [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 18, 2005 8:22 PM

Now, Burger King doesn't want to offend Muslims. What about those of us who would like to tell Muslims what we think of a cult of world conquest based on Taqqiyah and Kitman?

The problem with trying to deliberately offend Muslims (there is no freedom of religion without the freedom to offend and blaspheme) is that besides the proper noun of the Muslim god, Allah is the generic Arabic term for God. Christian Arabs and Sephardic Jews also use the word Allah when speaking Arabic. So producing stickers or apparel with something like Allah Sucks would be offensive to some Jews and Christians as well. Even Allah Askar (Allah is smaller) and Allah Afkar (Allah is an infidel), which both work as a play on Allah Akbar (Allah is Greater), would be offensive to arabic speaking Jews and Christians.

OTOH, it's not too hard to offend Muslims. Something as simple as "There Is No God But The God Of Israel And Moses Is His Messenger" in Arabic drives them bonkers - even though they claim to accept Moses as a prophet and assert they worship the same God as Jews and Christians.

It is a sad day when people cannot express their opposition to a particular decision (however ridiculous it may be) without defaming a sacred religious belief and culture that they cannot understand.

Being a Muslim myself, I recognize how ridiculous this claim is, that BK is attempting to offend Muslims through subliminal messaging via ice-cream cones. It is no more than a coincidence that the resemblance exists, and even though there is a resemblance, it is not a big deal anyway.

My biggest problem is that people are placing blame where it does not belong. What frustrates me more is how people like SUSANP can make claims about Muhammad being a savage warlord, when clearly she knows nothing of the matter. In such matters, I would suggest that people dismiss the propaganda of the western world, and research in detail the actual facts of such issues, before making such bold statements which will definitely offend a lot more people than this trivial ice-cream controversy. Without sufficient research, all the people who are making these ridiculous statements are just as stupid as the words coming out of their mouths.

OK, two can play this game. As a devout Christian, I demand that all Arabic/Muslim countries immediately remove all rail lines, since the ties and the rails resemble a series of crosses, and I find it offensive that they constantly trample on the cross. Give me a few minutes, maybe I can come up with something even stupider.
