An Islamic Television update. From the Arab News:
Muslims should create, develop and make use of the media properly and reasonably, according to S.G.P. Jafry, president of Jafry Communications of Scarborough, Ontario, Canada.“The system of messengers is a long-established and well-known tradition. The media is a powerful messenger, and Muslims must earn to use it effectively, especially post-Sept. 11,” Jafry told Arab News yesterday.
He explained that Sept. 11 had opened up more opportunities for the Muslim media. “It has created an environment for the reception of ideas. Questions are being asked, which must be answered in a studied and reasoned manner.”
Jafry said that in the present environment, it was the duty of Muslims to use the media to build bridges of understanding. “The media should concentrate on explaining what Islam really is. For example, when we say that we believe in all the Prophets, it breaks the ice, and helps to remove several mental blocks, and clear some ignorance and misunderstandings,” he added.
Speaking of his company, Jafry explained: “We are a national broadcaster presenting three TV programs — two on cable in Toronto, London (Ontario) and Ottawa and one national all over Canada using CTS — Christian Television Station and Vision TV Network. We are pioneers of Indo-Pak entertainment, having begun in 1969, mainly presenting radio programs. In 1978, we began television programs.”
Jafry Communications also supplies Islamic TV programs to Bridges TV in the United States. “Keys to the Qur’an,” which is prepared from material provided by the Saudi government, is on TV three times a day. Another program, “Calls of the Minaret,” is featured twice a week.
Jafry pointed out that Islam is a full set of rules for mankind’s benefit. He said that the Holy Qur’an speaks of two kinds of duties — duties toward the Creator and duties toward man or society, with a major emphasis on the latter.
“The problem is that we do not give enough attention to our duties toward man. Post-Sept. 11 this has become important and we must explain and show how much importance Islam attaches to the betterment of, and service to, mankind. We have begun producing information, such as the rights of neighbors (including non-Muslims), duties toward parents, looking after the community (which includes non-Muslims) honesty in dealings, why four wives, and so on,” Jafry said.
“In other words, we try to explain to Muslims and non-Muslims what Islam is."

“In other words, we try to explain to Muslims and non-Muslims what Islam is."
Hilarious!
Better "explain" it to Muslims first since they are so many "misunderstanders" who run around chopping heads off and blowing themselves up amongst infidels and Jews!
On a more serious note:
The exorbitant amounts of money we are now paying to the Saudis will come to bite us (in the ass) They will recycle these petro-dollars to build mosques, madrassahs and propaganda for the Jihad.
By buying into radio and TV-stations, the general MSM, by buying the favors of quisling-politicians, lawyers, immigration agents, the mesa-nostra and religious groups that will support them in all their subversive activities, we will have a long battle before us.
It doesn't look good, but we have to win this one....

"we must explain and show how much importance Islam attaches to the betterment of, and service to, mankind."
Explain? How about showing some examples of where mankind has been "bettered" and "served" by islam? I'm not holding my breath...

More than 13 centuries of jihad inspired murder, rape and plunder explains it all without need for any further elucidation from any Muslim Ministry of Propaganda. How in the span of scarcely two generations did our civilization develop such a near fatal amnesia with regard to the experience of our ancestors for more than a millenium with this insidious death cult?

The first two paragraphs of a related story from the Oct. 9 Arab news:
"Media Urged to Counter Anti-Muslim Bias
RIYADH, 9 October 2005 — Islamic scholar Zakir Naik has called for the launch of a professionally run news agency sponsored by the Muslim states. The aim of the agency should be to counter the Western media’s anti-Islamic bias in the aftermath of 9/11.
He made his proposal at a gathering of Muslims and non-Muslims at the Sri Lankan Embassy in collaboration with the Sri Lankan Expatriates’ Society (SLES) on Friday night. Some 1,500 people attended the gathering amid tight security. In addition to Ambassador A.M.J. Sadiq of Sri Lanka, the host, there were various ambassadors and diplomats from Asian and European countries as well as a number of Saudi dignitaries."
Notice that "Some 1,500 people attended the gathering amid tight security." They must have been afraid that the meeting would be disrupted by Methodist, Hindu, Buddhist, and Confucian suicide bombers.

In Pakistan muslims create, develop and make use of the media properly and reasonably:
Ulema call it Allah’s warning
Ask activists to participate in relief work
By Asim Hussain
LAHORE: Religious leaders and scholars have termed the earthquake Allah’s warning to the nation to take stock of its misdeeds and mend ways before bigger punishment might come its way.
Various religious scholars said it is Allah Almighty’s practice to send warnings in this shape to disobedient nations and rebellious rulers defying Him so that they could mend their ways before they would be replaced by some God-fearing and obedient nation.

Our own money is being used by the Saudis to push islam, on western tv, movies, radio, mags, pressure groups on govt, ? bought and paid for journalists and politicians ?, etc..
And if we still won't buy in, they kill us, one by one, or in bunches, randomly.
The Arab and Moslem Empire is winning, always using their unofficial armies, so that every arab and moslem country can claim innocence as we get killed.
Bridges of understanding is not what the moslems are building; using their propaganda to spread a fascist cult and undermine the modern world is what they are about.
moslems mean to rule the world, and will stop at nothing to achieve that end.
We must stop at nothing to destroy their fantasy.

Already with the Rushdie affair 17 years ago an ominous pattern was set. It has been replicated on both sides of the Atlantic ever since. It has three key ingredients:
1. The Muslim diaspora in the Western world, while formally denouncing “terrorism,” will accept and condone religious justification for acts that effectively challenge the monopoly on violence of the non-Muslim host-state.
2. The Muslim diaspora will use a highly developed infrastructure of organized religion in the host-state—a network of mosques, Islamic centers and Muslim organizations—and deploy it either as a tool of direct political pressure in support of terrorist goals (e.g., British Muslims vis-à-vis Rushdie), or else as a means of deception and manipulation in order to diminish the ability of the host-society to defend itself (e.g., CAIR vis-à-vis post-9-11 America).
3. The non-Muslim establishment—public figures, politicians, journalists, academic analysts—will seek to appease the Muslim diaspora, or else it will shy away from confronting the problem of the immigrants’ attitudes and impact by pretending that it does not exist.
The issues of immigration, identity, loyalty, and common culture are accordingly not treated as an area of legitimate concern in the debate on terrorism. The result is a cloud-cuckoo land in which much of what is said or written about terrorism is not about relevant information that helps us know the enemy but about domestic political agendas, ideology, and psychology.

They may 'bridge the cultural devide' all they want, but all immigrants must understand that the host country has no obligation to assist them to maintain their own culture, especially when the values of that culture clash with those of the mainstream. In essence - they want to set up their own country within that of the host country, complete with financial assistance from the host.
No! The obligation of the immigrant is to assimilate into the host country. Return to the country of origin if they are unable to do so or go to a country that has a similar culture.

leavingtheleft - what you are saying re the earthquake is very valid. people in pakistan are even now questioning why so many government-built buildings just collapsed so easily, and are putting it down to corruption on the part of the constructors, with government collusion.
as you no doubt know, corruption is perhaps the major problem in pakistan, and the danger is that the solution will be seen as a yet more intense islamisation

Perhaps O.T. but has anyone else taken notice of just how damn fast U.S. aid and our military equipment is being sent to Paki compared to the U.S. response to Katrina, our own country and countrymen?

From Leavingtheleft's article linked above:
"it should be kept in mind that natural calamities are hitting the US and its allies who attacked two innocent nations in recent past and killed tens of thousands of innocent civilians under various pretexts."
King: Many in the Arab/Muslim world feel that America is evil due to its killing of innocent civilians, and therefore, feel America shall pay by natural disaster. While agree with the innocent civilian bit, weather is an act of nautre so I dismiss any and all claims that it is brought be the wrath of anything more than greenhouse gases.
Here's what 'some' Christians were saying about Hurricane Katrina:

We here understand perfectly the Muslim culture and the bridges it professes to build.
We must somehow counter this mass propoganda logically and without fear. When compared to what benefits our own religions and culture have brought the world and to people in general it stinks to the heavens.
Women of the world awake this threatens you and your daughters with a cultural sentence of slavery and oppression.Breeding cattle to produce the next generation of cannon fodder for the Jihadists.
On the feminine issues alone Islam stands condemned ....who in their right mind wishes to bridge build with this viral culture. Time to build draw bridges. Leave them to rot in their own savagery. They hate each others idea of Islam and constantly fight over it.
Do we really want to allow them to build bridges at our expense ??

freddie:
I am sure you are right about what the proposed solution will be, but as you are likely aware, more intense islamisation sure didn't do much for the people of Bam, Iran, did it? So far as I know, despite all the foreign aid collected and treasury swollen by oil revenues, those who survived the quake are still living in tents.

As Little Red Riding Hood didn't say to the wolf:
What great weblinks you have!
Small test:
1) These people are representative of what percentage of Christians? (Hint: it might actually be that "tiny minority" we keep hearing about...or is that your nephew?)
2) The people posting on the above site have precisely _______ impetus to get their sick opinions into law. (Hint: if you answered "zero", you're right!)
3) Compare and contrast with current legal situations for being just non-muslim in an islamic country. Describe your life as such a minority. What would you be allowed and not allowed to do? What might get you killed or thrown in prison? Can you legally convert from islam? Does your legal status enable or prevent you from seeking legal redress? What is the societal value of kufr women?
4) Describe the system that creates such disparity in the religious control of the law. When was a similiar system at large in the West?
Da'wa comes in many colours, and educational levels. Make sure you have the right one.
