Muslim organisation calls for boycott of Denmark

Muslim cartoon rage keeps growing. From the Copenhagen Post, with thanks to Kemaste:

An Islamic cultural organisation has called upon its 51 member states to boycott Denmark in response to cartoons of the prophet Mohammed printed three months ago in national daily Jyllands-Posten.

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) stated on its webpage that it sought a condemnation of 'the aggressive campaign waged against Islam and its Prophet' by Jyllands-Posten.

Abdulaziz Othman al-Twaijri, the organisation's secretary general, reportedly told Arabic TV station Al-Arabiya that member states would impose a boycott until an apology was offered for the drawings.

'We encourage the organisation's members to boycott Denmark both economically and politically until Denmark presents an official apology for the drawings that have offended the world's Muslims,' al-Twaijri said.

Egypt's ambassador to Denmark, Mona Omar Attiah, warned against not taking the boycott seriously.

'The organisation has a broad appeal among the world's Muslims, and if the government doesn't make new efforts, Muslims around the world will follow the boycott and international pressure against Denmark will increase,' she told daily newspaper Information.

LOL. This is hilarious. I hope this little gaffe gets more and more coverage just to illustrate to the non-dhimmified public how Muslim organizations are more concerned about a few scribbles than real human rights abuses going on in their own countries.

There you have it, The Greater Islamic Co-Prosperity Sphere™ in all its potential glory.

Three months ago a dozen cartoons appear in an unknown newspaper and theyre talking about political and economic sanctions because of it? With all the problems that the muslim countries have, they pick this one to concentrate on? These people are a joke.

Too bad the west isnt willing to reciprocate on such matters every time a muslim media outlet slurs anything non-muslim, we could cut off all contact with the ME permanently.

You better start arming yourselves, Danes, because the attacks are on their way. A few buses full of civilians blown to bits is the price you will pay for daring to have freedom of speech. And thats if youre lucky.

This inability to tolerate "offense" or disagreement is at the heart of the matter.

It's possible for a person to be involved with what they believe in such a way that they can't separate what they believe from who and what they are. Any disagreement with their view deeply delegitimizes their existence as a sentient being. And must never be allowed. The pain it causes is to great, stabs too deep.

Not only is the dogma itself extreme, but moreover the depth of the attachment to it is extreme. Disagreement with it is experienced almost like a threat to survivial of the animal being.

Mohamedans demonstrate this a lot. I think this is near the kernel of the problem.

So my next question is what's the solution to that? What expands someone's perspective?

Posted by: WestwardHo [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 7:03 PM

Denmark is in the front line now, whether it wants to be or not.

Please Denmark, do things right. Don't cave in.

Maybe we at Jihadwatch, could help Denmark by buying Danish products, and supporting Denmark in any way that we can.

Posted by: Voltaire [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 7:04 PM

So I just looked up Denmark in the CIA's World Fact book. It turns out that Denmark's major trading partners are the US and other European countries. China accounts for 4% of Denmark's imports. There are no muslim countries listed as trading partners, either for imports or exports. So this grandiose boycott is more of the same trite puffery the muslims have mastered since it amounts to nothing economically.

Posted by: 3812Michelle [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 7:17 PM

Someone should make a list of Danish stuff, so
sthat I can buy things made in Denmark.

I think the really scary threat would be if all
Muslims just left Denmark. Damn, that would be
terrible. Danes would be shaking in their boots
then. All of the "Danish" muslims could move to
Sweden.

I enjoy news like that. The evidences against moderate Islam are pilling up.

Does anyone have a link to the cartoons in question? I would like to have a look at them.

Posted by: Elliot [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 7:37 PM

The day they start the boycott - KICK all the Muslims out of Denmark. Then the Muslim countries could give the Muslims kicked out the welfare benefits that they have been receiving from the Danish people. Good for Denmark. Islam is the curse of the 21st century.

hmmm. Just had some very nice danish bacon and now i've found californian pistacio nuts i can completely boycott iran for it's offensive walking talking cartoon leader.

The islamic world used to (probably still does) boycot anything with a jewish connection. No M+S, cadbury's or star wars. All the Arabs you saw in M+S had to cut the labels out before going home.

Never did work out what was jewish about star wars - maybe it was the idea good wins in the end????

Mind you the copy I had had arabic subtitles but was erased by dubai customs (along with big bird in china. if anyone knows what is jewish or depicts partly dressed women in big bird in china enlightenment would be welcomed).

I have yet to find a jewish conspiracy against arabs but the arab world boycotts anything jewish (and sesame st?) and now they are boycotting denmark.

Ha i bet you'll still be able to buy danish bacon in Dubai...

I think I'll ask all the moslem store owners near me if thay have started to boycott denmark. i can hear it now ---> "This is all a CIA conspiracy. it is George Bush making out we are stupid again"

If the Muslims in Denmark hate that country so much, maybe it's time they all left and returned to Arabia...

Posted by: abad [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 7:50 PM

Some major things exported by Denmark:

Pork & pork products
Carlsberg & Tuborg beer
Cheese
Lego toy blocks
Electricty (from its wind turbines)
Shipping services (Maersk Mckinney Moller company is one of the largest shipping companies in the world.)

I also suggest sending an email to the US Danish Embassy in Washington thanking them for their stand on free speech and letting them know of your support.

Posted by: Suzan [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 7:54 PM

'We encourage the organisation's members to boycott Denmark both economically and politically until Denmark presents an official apology for the drawings that have offended the world's Muslims,' al-Twaijri said.

I don't understand why some Muslims are so determined to get an apology over this. And WHY do they think DENMARK owes them an apology? Do they not understand the concepts of free speech? Do they not understand that only Jyllands-Posten (& maybe the artists) can apologize for the appearance of the cartoons in JP? Why are they making it an international issue? Again, they sound like a bunch of crybabies to me.

DENMARK, PLEASE DO NOT GIVE IN TO THESE THREATS.
WE SUPPORT DENMARK'S RESOLVE.

Wanna see how Mohammedans threaten their host-countries into submission:

TO
THE FOREIGN MINISTER,
GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN,
TOKYO

YOUR EXCELLENCY,

A RESOLUTION PASSED BY A GATHERING OF MUSLIMS IN JAPAN AT TOKYO MOSQUE

“THE NEWS OF THE TORN MUSLIM SACRED RELIGIOUS BOOK, THE HOLY QURAN, SPREAD LIKE A FIRE AND HAS ALREADY BEEN WIDELY REPORTED BY JAPANESE MASS MEDIA, PUBLISHED IN ALL JAPANESE NEWSPAPERS AND BROADCAST BY RADIO AND TELEVISION ETC. THIS NEWS SPREAD SO FAST AFTER A SPONTANEOUS DEMONSTRATION BY MUSLIMS, WHO HAD GATHERED SUDDENLY FROM ALL OVER JAPAN, AS NO ORGANIZATION HAD PRE-PLANNED IT, IN FRONT OF THE KOSUGI POLICE STATION, TOYAMA POLICE HEADQUARTERS AND THE GOVERNOR OF TOYAMA PREFECTURE OFFICE. THE PEOPLE OF JAPAN WERE SURPRISED AT THIS STRONG REACTION AND YOUR GOVERNMENT MAY HAVE ALREADY REALIZED THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS RELIGIOUS MATTER FROM THE SUDDEN SPONTANEITY OF SUCH A QUICK BACKLASH BY THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY IN JAPAN.

JAPAN IS A SECULAR COUNTRY BUT IT ALLOWS THE FREEDOM OF RELIGION TO EACH AND EVERY INDIVIDUAL LIVING IN THIS COUNTRY ALONG WITH THE FREEDOM TO DO BUSINESS BY FOREIGN NATIONALS HERE. MUSLIMS HAVE BEEN PRACTICING THEIR FAITH PEACEFULLY AND FREELY SO FAR IN JAPAN. BUT THE CONTINUED NEGLIGENCE OF LOCAL POLICE AUTHORITIES IN A LOCAL AREA IN TOYAMA PREFECTURE TO CONTROL THE JAPANESE MAFIA FOR OVER AN YEAR HAS BROUGHT ABOUT THIS UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT, WHICH IS VERY SHOCKING AND PAINFUL FOR OVER ONE BILLION MUSLIMS ALL OVER THE WORLD, AS ISLAM IS SPREADING FAST AND BY NOW HAS BECOME THE SECOND GREATEST RELIGION OF THE WORLD IN 21ST CENTURY.

MORE THAN 60 TO 70 COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD WITH WHOM JAPAN IS ENJOYING GOOD DIPLOMATIC AND ECONOMIC RELATIONS CALL THEMSELVES AS “MUSLIM” COUNTRIES. MANY OF THEM HAVE ALSO THEIR EMBASSIES OR CONSULATES IN JAPAN AS WELL. ALL THE GOVERNMENT AND PEOPLE OF THESE COUNTRIES HAVE ALSO BEEN SHOCKED BY THIS DISRESPECT SHOWN IN JAPAN TO THEIR HOLY BOOK.

JAPANESE CITIZENS ARE ENJOYING PEACEFUL LIVES IN THESE MUSLIM COUNTRIES. BUT THE INCIDENTS OF THIS NATURE WILL MAKE THE PEOPLE OF THOSE COUNTRIES ANGRY AGAINST THE JAPANESE NATIONALS LIVING PEACEFULLY WITH THEM, IF THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN FAILS TO TAKE APPROPRIATE STEPS TO PREVENT SUCH INCIDENTS IN FUTURE AND CREATE SUCH AN ATMOSPHERE IN JAPAN THAT THE FOREIGN NATIONALS IN JAPAN COULD FREELY CONTINUE THEIR BUSINESSES HERE WITHOUT THE HARASSMENT OF THE LOCAL JAPANESE MAFIA, WHO HAVE DARED TO HARASS THEM NOT ONLY AGAINST THEIR BUSINESSES BUT EVEN TO SPOIL THE SANCTITY OF THEIR RELIGIOUS BOOK AS WELL.

IN THE END, IT WILL NOT BE IRRELEVANT TO MENTION HERE ABOUT THE MURDER OF A JAPANESE NATIONAL IN JAPAN, I.E. PROF. IIGARASHI. HIS CRIME IN THE EYES OF THE MUSLIM, WHO IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE MURDERED HIM, WAS THAT HE TRANSLATED A BOOK OF SALMAN RUSHDIE, WHICH WAS FULL OF ABUSE AND SLANDER REGARDING THE PROPHET MOHAMMAD, HIS COMPANIONS AND HIS WIVES. ACCORDING TO THE ISLAMIC LAW AND THE UNANIMOUS VERDICT OF ALL MUSLIM SCHOLARS OF THE WORLD, SUCH A PERSON SHOULD BE PUNISHED TO DEATH. THEREFORE,
THE DEPTH OF THE MUSLIM SENTIMENT AGAINST THE PERSON WHO HAS COMMITTED SUCH A HEINOUS AND BARBAROUS CRIME OF SHOWING DISRESPECT TO A HOLY AND SACRED BOOK OF MUSLIMS SHOULD NOT BE UNDERESTIMATED.

Clearly, they're behind on their web-etiquette, WHICH EQUATES ALL-CAPS TEXT WITH SHOUTING.

What are they smoking, drinking, or inhaling to deliver such an unveiled (pun not intended) threat to the foreign minister of Japan in that last paragraph?

I'm hopeful they may be barking up the wrong tree in Japan, for as famous as that country is for its politeness (even the Allies' WWII-era satire mocked the overuse of the word "please"), they're much less prone to "multiculturalism" there, and may have less patience for something so un-Japanese as imperialist Islam.

do you think if each Western country make up more muslim islamic cartoon, they would get pissed off, and leave our countries, and return to Middle east? could give it a good try!

do you think if each Western country make up more muslim islamic cartoon, they would get pissed off, and leave our countries, and return to Middle east? could give it a good try!

Uhh, no. They would simply use it as a pretext to slaughter people, much as they use anything else that offends them, which is....well...just about everything.

You see, less of us means more room for them, so its a win-win scenario, for them at least.

A sign of things to come. It may be laughable now - but give it another 20 years or so.....

Have the Danish Royal family named their new son yet?? I heard the name "Christian" was on the list?? But a more Danish/Eurarabian name would be Mohammed would it not?? Let's think about the boys future country?

Suzan,

Thanks for the list. There's only one way to fight a boycott.

Posted by: Beagle [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 9:19 PM

If I may, I would like to offer an apology for the cartoons. I would like to apologize for the fact that they haven't been run in every Western publication, every day since they were created.

Posted by: DCWatson [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 9:39 PM

Could it be that the Danish governemnt thinks it can afford to stand up for the freedom of the press vs the muslim thought police because the country produces its own oil? Last I looked they produce much more oil than they consume so any oil blockade by muslim countries isn't going to hurt them at all. Maybe if the much talked about hydrogen/fuel cell economy becomes reality western governments will get more spine.

Posted by: ashlee72 [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 9:45 PM

The total lack of support from the msm for the Danish newspaper, and now for the country, on such a basic issue is amazing.
Our press people must live in fear, and i'm not sure i blame them.
All the more credit to the brave Danes involved, both cartoonists and newspaper people.

We must support, and show our support, on this issue.

Posted by: dby [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 9:47 PM

Denmark has promoted wind energy projects more than any other country. That may have something to do with its having an "attitude" -- the right attitude. But one need not have any source of energy other than Middle Eastern oil, and still exhibit the right attitude. The oil-producers cannot control where the oil goes, and they will continue eagerly to sell it because so far they have failed, and give every sign of continuing to fail, to create economies based on anything other than oil. They can't do it. Their peoples are unused to working, and find it demeaning (especially farming). Inshallah-fatalism has its effect on economic activity. Taking bribes, skimming money from this or that reservoir of oil money, and then of course in Bahrain and Dubai the luxury hotels and malls, each more grotesque and sickening than the next (imagine the worst possible taste, imagine the most hideous flaunting of cheap wealth -- and that is modern, hysterical, unhinged Arabia).

No need for Denmark to retreat. Every need for all other sensible countries, and peoples, to express solidarity, in every possible way.

A trip to the Tivoli gardens, Odense marzipan, a renewed intreest in Hans Christian Andersen, a reprint by Bollingen of "Fear and Trembling and Sickness Unto Death" -- oh, there are many things that can be done.

OK, let's say this Danish cartoon story is about to hit the MSM (Fox, CNN, CNNi, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC), what will they show? After all, it would be insult for the MSM to show the photos right. I mean it is ok to have vulgar, pornograhic caricatures of world political leaders and the Queen.

If I was a bstting men, I would bet that Fox shows the turban bomb picture but I am not sure about the others. Let's keep score as the MSM finally, after all this time, reports the Islamic embargo of Denmark for 'offensive' cartoons. It will be a dhimmi test among dhimmis and the not so dhimmis. Who will score highest? ABC probably, they have well proven their dhimmitude (Michael Graham).

It think Western countries should boycott all Muslim countries for the insulting things they do, like say, blowing up people.
How about we cut off all foriegn aid, food, cars, technology, matches etc.

Show them who's boss. We can do without a few smelly carpets.

Posted by: Mullahmasher [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 10:56 PM

John Sobieski makes a good point. In covering the story, and the Muslim threats, all decent Western newspapers should reprint several of the cartoons, because otherwise the poor reader will not be able to judge just how offensive -- or laughably inoffensive -- the cartoons were. The better newspapers will reprint many of the cartoons. The best newspapers will reprint every single one of them, will in fact go out of their way to devote a long spread to the story, putting those cartoons front and center.

That's how they will be judged -- by their present readers, their present advertisers, and by posterity.

A test.

I had posted it earlier on the JW article: "How Islamic extremist tried to f*#k up Japan" or something like that.

The letter I posted is at the end of the thread, but the rest also makes very interesting reading: Please note how the Mohammedans assert themselves by threats and intimidation, and how shameless they not only admit to murder the Japanese translator professor Igarashi, but elevate Sharia above Japanese law!

Sure you'll enjoy to get your teeth into that one!

You know, folks, all this hubbub over some cartoons or some idiocy about a "holy" book, makes me think the time might be ripe to bring out my line of Koranic toilet paper. Perhaps, also, a line of Koranic verse sanitary napkins, bird cage liners, and garbage bags.

I might be taking orders in the very near future.

It dates from May 2001. One wonders if the Japanese government would give them the time of day if the same thing happened. I hope not.

Meanwhile, let the Yakuza do their stuff and deal with those car-dealers as they wish. In the spirit of Lucky Luciano, helping the war effort by ensuring that the docks of Naples would be ready for the invading Americans.

Shame on Islam for being such a bunch of mind-shrivelling, soul-blanching, anti-life losers.

Draw on, Denmark! Let a thousand sardonic cartoon Mohammads bloom!

The nib is mightier than the numbskull.

Denmark has Tycho Brahe, Niels Bohr, Kierkegaard, Hans Christian Anderson, Isak Dineson, and modern designer Arne Jacobsen, while the Islamic world has a lot of murdered or death-threat silenced artists, writers, philosophers, musicians, poets and scientists... who tried to be as free as these Scandinavian luminaries but found the self-sterilized soil of Islam unfit for human life.

In solidarity with my Danish brothers and sisters, I'll be having some Harvarti with my Carlsberg while making a 1:32 replica of the Ka'aba out of pork-pink Legos.

Hugh sez:

"... It dates from May 2001. One wonders if the Japanese government would give them the time of day if the same thing happened. I hope not..."

The Taliban were very fond of Toyota Landcruisers.
Today the Japanese have rather more at stake today than 5 years ago, they are heavily invested in Arab countries, heaven knows how much they have at stake and how many of their nationals, who now "enjoy freedom and safety in the Dar al Islam would be at risk if they upset the Muslim nation"...according to this 'friendly' Muslim writing to the Japanese government.

Also clearly revealed in that link is how Mohammedans are convinced that terror actually makes converts, by striking fear in the hearts of the infidels...

A reminder of OBL's involuntary video when a sheik he was talking to bragged about 20 000 converts after 9/11 in Holland, remember?

Apart from that may I remind you that the Arabs do not have a past terse, to them five minutes , five years or five-hundred years ago is all the same thing for them, that is why they still revel in the tales of Saladin and the crusades and that is why they are still fighting the same war...

But I'll leave this with you, for now, as you are much more spirited writer, more prolific and knowledgeable about this...

If boycotts like this actually take hold (they probably won't, but Muslim groups and states will surely continue to threaten these kinds of things whenever the Prophet is sufficiently 'defamed' by misbehaving Infidel, dhimmis), then perhaps European states will be forced into the following strategy:

Defaming Mohammad with insults, caricatures or whatever will be encouraged in as many media outlets as possible, in as many countries as possible. That way, boycotts will have to be directly at everybody, and little countries like Denmark won't have to bear the brunt of the burden.

Of course, this strategy is far fetched. And why? Because everyone knows that if insulting the Prophet became prolific (even if the insults came in the form of silly cartoons) violence would be the response of choice for Muslims, not boycotts. Scores of cars are torched every night in France for no reason at all. What would happen if Mohammad were defamed and the right to defame the Prophet were defended by the French government, the EU, or several Infidels states at once?

Posted by: JTF [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 2:26 AM

I commend this boycott, and I propose to expand it by urging the current Muslim residents of Denmark to join this boycott and leave the country! And not just Denmark, but every nation in dar-al-harb, whose leadership at some point in its history was stupid enough to grant Muslims citizenship or legal residence.

Posted by: US_infidel [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 2:49 AM

When does the North Atlantic Treaty, to which Denmark is a signatory, come into play? I would hope that all of NATO pays attention. And what about the so-called EU? Is it acceptable, to other EU nations, that one of their members is under threat of boycott, by belligerent non-EU nations and organizations? If yes, WHY is that acceptable?

Posted by: del [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 2:52 AM

del,

The EU already criticized Denmark over this issue... Doubt we'll receive much backing from our union "friends".

I see many people would like to hear/see more news relating to this in mainstream media, but why not try to make it happen then?
Try to stage a support rally at your local Danish embassy? Hand out fliers/leaflets explaining the situation and why it's so important people show their support? Invite the press to the rally?
Hell, you could even stage a demonstration outside a muslim embassy, showing your outrage at their arrogance/ignorance...

Posted: Tue Jan 03, 2006 3:36 pm Post subject: Waverly Council

Waverly Council has allowed itself to be infiltrated by ethnics, The RSL and others are outraged, and even the Prime Minister has voiced his displeasure. These turds will no way sacrifice their lives for our country in the event of war, and would in fact become a 5th column in the country.

I notice a strange thing now occurring in Australia. Whereas previously you only saw the Australian flag flown on Government buildings, now many private households are flying the flag. Maybe it’s to make a private statement. I myself have erected a 20-foot flagpole on the front lawn and fly a gigantic Aussie flag and 6 other homes in the street in what is a very affluent area are doing the same. This in Queensland mind you, and this seems to have only happened after the NSW incident. Queensland has always been more Nationalistic than the southern states.

In response to the announcement that the flag should not be taken to the beach, many beachgoers are now buying beach umbrellas and caps depicting the flag, which I think is one of the most beautiful of all nations. The shop where I bought mine say they can’t keep up with demand for the beach umbrellas.

Methinks these people have bitten off a bit more than they can chew, resulting in a backlash from many citizens who were previously ambivalent and unconcerned.

They are going to find that unlike the English who only grumble about their situation, the typical Aussie will not put up with this multicultural rubbish without putting up a good fight.

WE SHOULD START TO REACT

Just read up on the news on Danmarks Radio(DR), and it seems we've not heard the last of it...

First, there is going to be a culture festival here(Denmark) in August called "Images of the Middle East". The OIC has decided to boycot this culture festival, and is urging its members to do likewise...
(For those of you who know danish: http://www.dr.dk/Nyheder/Politik/2006/01/03/105337.htm )

Second, muslim imams and other "top people" of muslim congregations in Denmark, have been busy, travelling around the middle east, meeting with politicians, ministers and religious leaders.
They say it's been a "great success". In Syria and Lebanon alone they met with 19 politicians, ministers and religious leaders, and they all expressed outrage at the Danish primeministers handling of the affair... Guess we can expect another round of crap directed at us.
(Again, for those of you who know Danish: http://www.dr.dk/Nyheder/Indland/2006/01/02/225925.htm )

If they'd just let it go, it'd have been forgotten about 3 months ago... Instead they keep on flogging a dead horse.

Posted by: shiva [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 8:00 AM

This is great news. Every country should manufacture its own cartoon. That it should be this easy to keep the Muzzies away!

Ok, it isn't usually considered good taste to mock someone's religion or desecrate his holy books, etc. But what did the PLO/PA's Muslims do when they took over Joseph's Tomb in Sh'khem [Nablus > Neapolis]? They desecrated the Jewish holy books left behind when that location was evacuated by Israeli forces. Pholtos of this desecration were published in the USA.

Let's hope Denmark does not back down even if the EU comes out against them.

Posted by: Eliyahu [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 10:01 AM

Gee, do you thiink this boycott will include the red-light district of Copenhagen?

Posted by: Theseus [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 10:27 AM

Boycot Danmark?

What are they going to boycot? Are they going to cut off the stream of immigrants?

Posted by: kuffar [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 10:34 AM

Muslims want to boycott Denmark. I wish that they'd boycott America!!! Here's a reason; the prophet Muhammad's mother wears combat boots and eats pork rhines!!! Let the boycott begin.

Posted by: Ironman Hondo [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 11:16 AM

Ofcourse the all Muslims living in Denmark on the public dole will not leave their host country to protest this cruel and inhuman treatment, will they? I wish I knew where I could get a tee shirt with one of those Mohammed Turbomb cartoons on it! Maybe they could put a list of all the Muslim invasions and atrocities like on a band tour shirt. Should sell like hotcakes!

Posted by: Bohemond_1069 [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 11:43 AM

This is just the dumbest thing. These Muslims are so sensitive...but to call for censorship is really beyond comprehension. And they're joined by the Euro/American/Leftists/etc...the so called proponents of free speech!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piss_Christ

This was probably the most distasteful piece of "expression" I can remember, but more so, where was the Euro/American/Leftists/Academics on this one??? All for it of course, because it was "expression."

On top of that, while the Vatican was understandibly not thrilled, I don't recall any boycotts, diplomatic threats, or "U.N. Investigation."

I don't even remember any Catholics offering bountys or issuing death threats against the artist...hmmmmmmm...odd.

Voltaire: "Shiva, brilliant idea. Why don't we silk screen these cartoons on T shirts? I'd wear one."

Just out of curiosity, will you be silkscreening a bullseye on the back?

Posted by: Caroline [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 1:21 PM

It is some thing to seriously think about
I dont have any problem to get them printed here in Indonesia.
How would it be importing into europe, america and australia

Shiva,

Let's think of a list of activities for which we can demand an apology from Muslims. To start:

1. I demand that Muslims apologize for all the instances of the mistreatment of non-Muslims in the name of Allah.

2. I demand an apology for the concept of dhimmitude.

3. I demand an apology for hating me for "my disbelief."

4. I demand an apology for the unequal treatment of women.

5. I demand an apology for not allowing the construction of churches and the open practice of other religions in Muslim countries.

6. I demand an apology for expecting religious accommodation of Muslims in non-Muslim lands.

I'm sure that other readers can come up with many, many more!

Shiva, I don't think importing them would be any problem. You could sell them on Ebay also, just make sure you have the permission of whomever owns the copyright to the artwork to use it. I think they would sell quite well at gun shows and gun stores.

Okay, Okay, Here's another. Why did the prophet Muhammad cross the road? Because a 6 year old woman was on the other side. Get it? The prophet was a pedophil. Bwah ha,ha,ha!!! Have we been boycotted yet? Okay, okay here, may a pig read the koran while in a muddy pigpen!!! May the infidel dogs use the koran as toilet tissue after a mighty Al Bundy dumping!!! Now has the boycott started?

Posted by: Ironman Hondo [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 4:11 PM

Never try to teach a pig to read the Q'uran. It's a waste of your time and it insults the pig's intelligence.

Did anybody actually see these cartoons?
Because I really wonder what the hullaballoo is about..they're perfectly innnocent! Nothing compared to the ones you see about all things christian...

Posted by: Warhorse [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 7:56 PM

Surely the best response would be for at least one newspaper in every democracy to publish the cartoon. The idea of an attempted muslim boycott of every democracy in the World is quite funny. Sadly, I doubt the EU (which is NOT a democracy, but is mostly run by unelected officials) would react other than by undermining the newspapers involved.

Posted by: Obelisk1 [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 8:24 PM

Actually, why not draw some more cartoons? The ideas I list below are based on the fact that Mohammed conviniently violated the Quran when it suited him, such as:

  • Muhammad broke the rule on sex during fasting

  • Muhammad violated the Qur'anic rules on dower (mehr) and the time of waiting (idda)) in marrying a divorced/widowed woman

  • Muhammad violated Allah's restriction on him on the number of his wives

  • Muhammad violated the Qur'anic law on the punishment of sex offenders

  • Muhammad violated the Qur'anic code of conduct between marriageable couples

  • Muhammad violated the Qur'anic rule on sex with menstruating women

  • Muhammad violated the Qura'nic rule of not to have sex with women when in ihram (purity state spent inside a mosque) or when performing Hajj

I'm not an artist, but for anyone who is, here are some ideas. Since Islam has its "don't-or-else-off-with-your-head" rules, depict Mohammed as violating these rules, just as he violated the above Quranic injunctions on sex.

  • Show him taking a dump in front of the Ka'aba

  • Show him at a table, feasting on pork. TO make it obvious, use one of the Roman settings, w/ a pig shaped dish in the middle of the table (or the floor)

  • Show him having sex w/ a baby while holding her feeding bottle in one hand (yeah, I know it's disgusting)

  • Show him examining a boy for pubic hair. If more than one caption is allowed, next caption could be - boy's pubic hair shows, and then following that, show him beheading the boy

Get it published somewhere, and watch the sparks fly.

"Just out of curiosity, will you be silkscreening a bullseye on the back?"
-- posted by Caroline

Therein lies one of the many powers that impels Islam: the infidel's fear for his or her personal safety.

This is why the Danish government should inundate the nation with millions of images of grand ol' Mohammed.

The Moslems can't torture and kill everybody, but if they try, then George and Condi and Tony and Jacques would be discredited and we'd be off to the races.

Alarmed Pig Farmer - don't get me wrong. I admire anyone who would wear a t-shirt with one of these cartoons silkscreened on the front. If anything, a bullseye on the back might well add a great deal of irony to the t-shirt and thus contribute something valuable to the radical message of the T-shirt itself. And its doubtful that the bullseye itself would invite an actual act of violence against the wearer of the shirt that the Muhammad cartoon itself wouldn't otherwise invoke.

But I don't wish the posters at this site to take unwarranted individual risks. Of course it totally depends on where someone would plan to wear such a shirt. It obviously wouldn't be recommended to walk around in downtown Malmo wearing it but it might be quite OK to wear at a university function where it could stir up a great deal of controversy and welcome discussion without significant risk to the wearer, and that applies with or without the bullseye on the back.

I agree with other posters here who would like to see the free press throughout the west stand in defense of Jyllands Posten in publishing at least one of the cartoons in each of their papers merely as an illustration of the controversy. Don't these brave journalists pride themselves on "speaking truth to power"?

As you note, Islam uses violence as probably its main instrument for wielding power. (It's instrument sure ain't the truth, that's for sure). So let's see the free western press collectively put their money where their mouths are and stand in defiant unison with their Danish compatriots. Go on guys. Speak truth to power! It's what you folks pride yourself on, isn't it?

If they won't do that - here - now - when it matters most - then they're worthless, and completely deserving of our distain.

Posted by: Caroline [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 4, 2006 8:51 PM

Ummm, that would be "disdain"..

Posted by: Caroline [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 4, 2006 9:04 PM

I really don't see this as bad news for Denmark. Europe would be a lot better off if Muslims would only ban the entire continent.

Posted by: Andrea [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 5, 2006 11:37 PM

What can we do to foster a similar boycott in America? The time is right for pompous Muslims to try this "boycott" trash in America -- their shenanigans in 1973 revealed that the Arab oil market was little more than an extortion racket against America... When they brandished oil as a weapon against us, we witnessed a tremendous spike in the utter and proper contempt among Americans for the Arab Muslims and their quaint little ways -- there was no end to revelations of their sordid and epic corruption, to their utter hypocrisy as "pious Muslims" -- Arab "royals" were revealed to be little more than whore-obsessed drunken idiots in NY, Paris, London, and Monaco... Tales of solid gold toilets to honor their palpable emanations... Tales of $10 Million junkets to Las Vegas in private jets... Tales of multi-million dollar shopping sprees in Beverly Hills and the Côte d'Azur... Arabs became appropriately a laughing stock... They were properly depicted as objects of derision, deserving of contempt by the civilized portion of the world... Let's do it again! How hard will it be to resurrect these vivid depictions of these congenital hypocritics and liars?

Arab Muslims are only playing to type, and we should take full advantage! They are only stereotyped as backward brutes because they ARE backward brutes...

So where are OUR cartoons? Where are OUR "insults" to the putrescent so-called "religion" of Islam and their preposterous thief, rapist, and murderer "Prophet"? Why don't we encourage the Arab Muslim to boycott us! Where are OUR depictions of the hateful Arab Muslim? Where are OUR depictions of the backward Arab Muslim? Where are OUR depictions of the barbarian Arab Muslim? We only know too well how full the world is of examples of how hateful, backward, and barbarian his is! So where are the depictions???

We've seen what trying to be friends with Arabs and Muslims has yeilded -- murder, mayhem, erosion of our rights, erosion of our security.... Let's take a look at what considering them an enemy might yeild -- I somehow think they will regret repaying our friendship with their treachery, deceit, ambition, and violence... I somehow think they will find that being our enemy costs them far more dearly than it costs us... Let them boycott us -- We will bury them...
