Pass it on.

ROBERT!!!
get a load of this:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/4694090.stm

"Muslim scholars who gathered for an emergency meeting have called for changes to the (UK) law to stop images of the Prophet Muhammad being published."

"They are to stage a protest march in London on 18 February, expected to attract 20,000 to 50,000 people."

we need to get the word out people.

instead of blue scarfs - i suggest the White Rose. its got more resonance, more meaning.

this cartoon thing isnt going away - and we people who believe in Western values, and who are in the UK seriously need to stand up to these people and let them know in no uncertain terms - that if you dont like Western society, you are more than welcome to get the hell out and go live in Iran or Saudi.

We should also support the Sandmonkey, a blogger from Cairo, who has evidence here that the Egyptian press published the cartoons on 17 October 2005 without incident.

I just finished the blue cheese and before I start on the butter cookies thought I'd share a great idea for a bumper sticker:

I'M ISLAMOPHOBIC - AND SO ARE YOU!

Posted by: poetcomic1 [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 8, 2006 7:03 PM

Lisa, thanks for the link. That is really interesting:

Freedom For Egyptians reminded me why the cartoons looked so familiar to me: they were actually printed in the Egyptian Newspaper Al Fagr back in October 2005. I repeat, October 2005, during Ramadan, for all the egyptian muslim population to see, and not a single squeak of outrage was present. Al Fagr isn't a small newspaper either: it has respectable circulation in Egypt, since it's helmed by known Journalist Adel Hamoudah. Looking around in my house I found the copy of the newspaper, so I decided to scan it and present to all of you to see.

This suggests that some of the "outrage" was not completely spontaneous.

I'll gladly respect their prohibitions on drawing the Prophet. Just as soon as Muslims start respecting Hindu prohibitions against killing cows and eating beef. Then let Muslims end the practice of female genital mutilation, since most of the world objects to that.

I hate to nitpick, but I didn't appreciate Muslims flying airplanes into tall buildings and killing thousands of innocents. For some stupid reason or other I particularly didn't enjoy watching people splattering themselves on the sidewalks of New York. And a few religious traditions even have qualms about putting teenage suicide bombers on public transit, believe it or not. Are we being too picky here?

Posted by: LADave [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 8, 2006 7:29 PM

here is one of the most recent statements by the danish PM

i'm glad to say, after reading it, he's still one of the good guys. poor guy is trying to calm things down - denmark is only a little state of 5 million people afterall , and there's been bugger all outright support from the likes of the U.S. and Britain, much as i hate to say that.

Posted by: archduke [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 8, 2006 7:50 PM

Where can we buy these bumper stickers? I hope the Danes get some money out of this.

Posted by: Bohemond_1069 [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 8, 2006 8:01 PM

Looks like the Danish are leading the fight again the BBC are reporting that the Danish government have cut ties with the countries Immams.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/

It is a breaking story so it is just on the scroll bar at the top of the page.

Excellent graphic.

I can't believe how weak the American, British and Canadian response has been. The Anglos should be in the vanguard of defending free speech. Instead, today, our new Canadian foreign minister, Conservative MP Peter Mackay, joined Bush in condemning the violence, but also yammered on about how free speech has to be balanced with resonsibility (just like Condoleeza Rice). At this point, I think it's irresponsible not to publish the cartoons. To quell a short-term fracas they could be causing long-term damage to our freedom of expression.

Posted by: Anne [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 8, 2006 8:07 PM

its bad man - the Danish PM supported the iraq war in the face of overwhelming opposition.

its not nice how he's been left to hang out there on his own. not nice at all.

about the only people supporting him right now are the Germans (!!!) and Angela Merkel. thats about it.

even Chirac came out with the Bush/Blair line.

sickening.

Posted by: archduke [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 8, 2006 8:40 PM

Hmmm.... The Danish flag has the symbol of the Cross, so when the Mohammedans burn it, they are sybolically burning a Cross as well as the Danish Government. Interesting..... I wonder what would happen if Christian groups started burning copies of the Q'uran?

Posted by: Bohemond_1069 [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 8, 2006 8:55 PM

Maybe you didn't notice it, but the US Ambassador had a meeting with PM
Rassumussen this week, APOLOGIZED for not having come out in full public support of Denmark sooner, and then made a public statement in their favor.

Funny, how that statement doesn't seem to be getting a lot of play in the MSM.

Posted by: treehugger [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 8, 2006 9:00 PM

No, no, no!!!! The EU has sold out!!!!!!!!!

The United Nations and European Union have reached agreement to issue a joint statement condemning cartoon "insults to Islam" that were first published in a Danish newspaper and have been widely reprinted recently, resulting in a rash of violence throughout the Muslim world.

According to a report in WAM, the United Arab Emirates news agency, the agreement is the work of Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Conference.

The agreement, according to Ihsanoglu, will mean a formal rebuke by the U.N. and EU of the Danish paper Jyllands-Posten for publishing the offensive cartoons.

The statement, he added, stresses that divine religions and religious symbols must be respected, and that freedom of speech must not be taken so far as to desecrate religions.

"The statement also calls for renouncing all forms of violence," he said, according to WAM.

The controversy began just over a week ago, though the cartoons were first published by the Danish newspaper in September. More recently, other papers and news agencies picked up and published the cartoons, and the result has been unprecedented rioting throughout the Islamic world.

Everybody please buy as much as possible of Danish Products. If all the consumers in Europe USA, Australia, NZ, India, and other countires do that, the boycott by the Muslim nations will fall flat.
Lets all support little Denmark in its hour of need.
PLEASE MAKE IT A POINT TO BUY DANISH AND TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS. Then the boycott will be a joke.
In the meantime I hope Denmark deports all Muslims who are there illegally and also cut off aid to them and to all the Muslim countries.
Denmark shoud prosecute the Muslim Imam that went around the Muslim countries showing off the cartoons, for all the deaths his actions has caused and for stirring up hated.

Whats good for the goose must be good for the gander!

LETS BOYCOTT ALL MUSLIM SHOPS AND SERVICES RUN BY MUSLIMS.
Its only fair to do this.

That is the only way the morons understand.

Posted by: faqi [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 8, 2006 9:32 PM

Thanks for the superb bumpersticker!

To 'pay' for it, I'll buy a case of Tuborg and a selection of Havarti cheeses.

(One of my nephews will be getting a LARGE Legos set for his birthday, too.)

The knee-jerk-into-kowtow-mode politicians and self-gelded presslords in the U.S. are starting to realize that they are WAY behind the curve when it comes to the general public's disgust with the global show of Islamo-intolerance and death threats against our cartoonists. (And our liberties.)

They thought no one would notice as they did their standard dhimmi soft shoe mea culpas to their apparent Muslim masters. They hoped it would "just all go away" and that their craven licking of spittle wouldn't be caught.

But, it didn't, and people are noticing the erosion of our freedom of speech and how our leaders began by cravenly abetting it.

But neither the castrato politicos nor the Islamo-cranks reckoned on one thing:

We like cartoonists -from Walt Disney and Max Fleischer to Wally Wood and B.Kliban, Mary Severin and Gary Larson to Art Spiegelman and R. Crumb!

And editorial cartoonists like Honore Daumier and Bill Mauldin to Doug Marlette and Jules Fieffer, Jeff MacNelly and Ben Shahn to Herblock and Oliphant as well as Orr, Auth, Szepp, Trudeau and a thousand more!

The Yellow Kid will not be mocked!

Don't mess with our funnies!

(And isn't Condoleeza Rice the perfect name for a chacter in a classic comic strip? Maybe Betty Boop's gal pal?)

If the Muslims get offended just for the publication of few cartoons of Mohamed...
For ages, they are demolishing Hindu temples in India ,and looting the costly ornaments on the perosn of the sacred idols, and alos slautering millions of Hindus.... Hindus should not get offened
Muslims are burning the churches in Egypt,Pakistan, killing the Christians in other islamic countries...Christians should not get offended.
Muslims mercilesly bombed and pulled down the 4000 year old Bombiyan Cave Budhas... Bhudhists should not get offended.
Prophet Mohamed ordered killing of a Jewish poetess, for the simple reason of writing against him.,and also butchered millions of jews... Jews should not protest.
This is called the laws of the barbarians.

Faqi=Well said.We sould not only PATRONISE the products of Denmark, and Norway, we should also boycot the Muslim businesses in whole Europe, USA.Canada, and in Australia. The Canadian Muslims businesses are instructed by Imams to avoid selling Dutch products, and they proudly display boards in their shops'We dont sell any products of Denmark". IT IS TIME FOR ALL NON MUSLIMS TO AVOID MUSLIM BUSINESSES.(you get them in the Muslim chamber of commerce directory)
Most of these Muslims in our countries are minting money in businesses in our land. Just avoid them, go to a nonmuslim shop, even if it is at a distance. Show your partiotism, and spread the message to all your friends, relatives, church, temple, synagauge members.
Denmark should not pay any welfare money to these enemies. In future, all our countries shouldnot take in any of the Islamists. Learn a lesson from Denmark.

Denmark, like the USA and the rest of the western democracies, absolutely MUST outlaw Islam and force all Muhammedan cultists on their soil to exit their lands as quickly as possible. All mosques in the western nations must be demolished as well.

And never will I think of apologizing for what I think of Islam (which isn't much).

OUTLAW ISLAM NOW!

Good luck Denmark.

Sincerely,

Pythagoras

Wow:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4692318.stm

"We want the newspaper to promise that this will never happen again, or this will never stop," said imam Ahmad Akkari of the Islamic Faith Society.

For the Danish integration minister, Rikke Hvilshoj, that stance is a wake-up call.

"It is very clear that we cannot trust the imams any longer if we want integration to succeed in Denmark," Mrs Hvilshoj says.

Is Denmark waking up about the taqiyya?

The DPP seems to be a more rational party than the BNP and LePen's NF. They could be a good template for what European parties should be like. Anybody know whether their hostility is properly focused like a laser on Mohammedans, or is it more dispersed than it should be? Also, the first time I've seen a far right party with the name "People's party" Usually, that implies communists. That's neat - having a name that gives people the impression that you are leftist, but then go on and pursue a right wing agenda.

Elsewhere, from the article below

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-2031419,00.html

Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the Danish Prime Minister, has already angrily accused the imams of “double speak” in telling Arab media not to buy Danish goods, while insisting in the Danish media that they do not support the boycott.
Mr Rasmussen said: “Some people are speaking with two tongues. The Government watches the news circulated in Arabic countries very carefully so we can catch these false stories and correct them immediately.”

Sounds familiar? I recall Bibi Netanyahu saying the same thing about Arafat - say one thing in English and the opposite in Arabic.

The centre-right Government said yesterday that it would exclude the imams from talks on integrating ethnic minorities. Rikke Hvilshoj, the Integration Minister, said: “I think we have a clear picture today that it’s not the imams we should be placing our trust in if we want integration in Denmark to work.”

Can Denmark export every member of its government abroad, so that such wisdom can be spread across the lands of dar ul Harb? First sensible thing I've heard in weeks. Why should anybody interested in integration of society be talking to imams, who run parallel regimes of their own?

And Pia Kjaersgaard deserves a special honorable mention for the following statement,"The seeds of weeds have come to Denmark — Islamists and liars — who have fuelled the lethal fire through their tour of the Middle East. We will deal with them.”

Seeds of weeds? Fantastic! Even our resident poets here - Poetess, Interested, Granny - would be at a loss for words.

I think

Anti Dhimmitude has reached heights in France that have not been witnessed for years. It really feels as if fear is changing camp.

Yesterday, Charlie Hebdo, a leftwing satirical magazine published, (despite the angst of Gospodin Chirac) a magazine almost entirely dedicated to Mohammed.

A scanned version of this edition can be downloaded in its entireity from here http://www.savefile.com/files2.php?fid=3565850

I personally have reservations over many of the cartoons here, but this really is an example of a free press going completely against the multiculti peave bruv' vision of society.

This magazine reprinted another 160,000 copies last night to meet demand.

The cartoon protest has precipated changes that no one predicted. Not a single moderate muslim anywhere in the world has shown (even remotely) any understanding about free speech.

We have had caricatures of holy figures, kings, politicians and celebrities for hundreds of years and they have simply had had to take it on the chin.

Muslims it seems, just can't can't take a joke.

Posted by: Sebastien [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 9, 2006 5:09 AM

treehugger,

Yikes. Do you have a link for that EU and UN condmenation of the cartoonists?

This is too much. But it will outrage western citizens even more. Never vote for anyone who is soft on Islam. Politicians have to stand up for western values or they should be forced to resign and should be tried for treason.

Don't take the "People's Party" part of the name too seriously. Its used by several parties here in denmark, until fairly recently the Conservatives were called "The Conservative People's Party" and they are placed solidly slighty right of the middle in the big political picture. But the DPP is on the far right when it comes to most issues, except for a few things such a care for the elderly where they have a very strong socialistic line.

Anyway, the DPP is fairly new to danish politics and its based on the smoldering ruins of Fremskridtspartiet (The Progress Party) which it broke away from when the founder of that party ended up acting too much like a nutcase. They have had huge success since them, gaining a lot of votes with every election and they are currently acting as the governments parliamentary support (meaning that if they voted against Anders Fogh Rasmussen as primeminister he would be in that chair, since our government is a minority government).

They are definetly sharply focused on muslims and if they could muster complete majority I am sure the first many months would be spent passing laws to stop all emmigration to denmark and to try to kick out as many of the non-danish citizens of arabic descent as they possibly could. Unfortunatly they are also very much lacking when it comes to having a real policy in many other areas. Even things that have nothing to with muslims or emmigrants always ends up being twisted around to have something to do with it anyway in their views.

With the current situation and if it continues they could end becoming the largest party after the next election. At least thats what the current trends look like.

Archimedes,

http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=48736

Or look at the Brussels Journal.

The US should get out of the UN, they are a bunch of corrupt spineless bootlicking money sucking parasites. Send all the UN diploweenies to Somalia!

There appears to be a huge disconnect between the average European and the arrogant elite in Brussels. Maybe it's time to clean house?

When government is so far removed from the people, it's no longer accountable to them.

Posted by: treehugger [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 9, 2006 9:20 AM

This really had gone quite far enough! Let 'em rant, but for those of us old enough to remember, we've had our share of "art" that offended the sensibilities of religious Americans but somehow, we all managed to survive these "attacks" and move on and lead healthy, productive lives.

For instance, there was the massive outcry over Martin Scorsese's "Last Temptation of Christ". Protestors, picketers, sit-ins... saw them all when the film was shown at a local theater. And yet, oddly enough, no one was shot... no studios were burned and to the best of my knowledge, Scorsese is still making wonderful films.

Then of course there was the notorious "Piss Christ" by Andres Serrano. No deaths, no burnings, no vandalism to property or harm to persons. Yes, the NEA probably received a few nasty letters but THAT is how a civilized society gives vent to their disapproval.

And who could forget Rudi Giuliani's controversial response to Chris Ofili's The Holy
Virgin Mary - long before he became the hero of 9/11. Once again, there were some protests, and ultimately a whacko smeared paint on the offensive work, BUT... I do not recall mass hysteria resulting in injury to anyone.

And more recently, Mel Gibson's "Passion of the Christ" has it's 15 minutes of fame for it's allegedly anti-semitic themes... but once again, for all the evil and malice our muslim friends endow the Jews with, I do not recall a single theater being fire-bombed, or any of the audience being threatened and haraguned by maurading Hachsidim. Even more ironic is the fact that most anti-semites readily accuse the Jews of running the media, anyhow. What a clever canard on their part.

ANYHOW, all I can say at this point is:
THEY ARE ONLY CARTOONS! GET OVER IT!

If you want to be respected as a noble religion, than ACT THE PART! LIVE with DIGNITY! Tolerate others to LIVE THEIR LIVES without your interference! And serve your fellow man. Do this, and if there is a God, be S/He Allah, Yahweh, Buddha, Krishna, the Great Red Father... whatever, and I promise you that you will be loved. And in the event that there is no eternal reward, you still have managed to live a life worth living. If all we ever see is a ranting, suicidal, homicidal mob, that is indeed how you will be treated.

Also, muslim friends, remember - WE TOLERATE YOU. We do NOT like you, we do NOT need you and increasingly we do not even WANT you. If you can not play nice by the rules of the house, you can always leave.

That's about where we need to be right now!

treehugger,

Thanks for that link. Robert has a new thread today on this topic. DanishDynamite posted link in the new thread updating this issue.

"Well it says here http://www.jp.dk/indland/artikel:aid=3547590:fid=11326/ that he issued a press release saying there would be no "code of conduct".
The idea has been aired in the EU several times before, so I wouldn't be shocked if they try to push it in the near future."--posted by DanishDynamite.

Posted by: Archimedes [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 9, 2006 1:15 PM

Andre Servier fils:

Islam actually teaches that ALL non-Muslims are to be killed (read the qur'an sometime-- you'll be horrified). Even if Muslims leave your country they can still plot ways to accomplish that. "Nice" never enters the equation with Islamic teachings which are believed to be piped in straight from their god "allah" via the Qur'an.

Islam is pure totalitarianism and Muslims are forced to obey their mosque leaders and accept the fact that they can never be friends of non-Muslims. (Which means YOU). And do whatever they are told to do by their imams including riot and lot and kill.

Islam also teaches that all other belief systems are to be destroyed. Western Europe has been on their hit list for centuries. Did France learn nothing from the Battle at Tours???

Save your energy, Andre. Islam does not and cannot change. There is no reformation coming down the pike. Life to Islam will always equal zero.

Posted by: pythagoras [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 9, 2006 2:55 PM

First it's about the freedom of the press and you interpreted as the freedom to insult any group of people and religion.
Then commenting about Islam which you don't understand or know.Your comments then become mislead. It seems that you are all trying to be experts in the field that you don't even slightly mastered.
