Unfazed by the victory of the party that wants to "drink the blood of the Jews," Oxford presses forward with a ghastly display of the academic Left's myopia and taste for totalitarianism, which of course requires the defamation of genuine republics. From the Jerusalem Post, with thanks to Olivia:
Oxford University is this week holding an "Israeli Apartheid week." Hosted by the Palestinian Society, and sanctioned by the university's student union, flyers state it is to commemorate the "30th anniversary of the international convention on the suppression and punishment of the crime of apartheid."Fliers show a caricature of two Israeli soldiers beating a Palestinian man with maps of Israel, stated as Palestine, and South Africa. The conference's themes are apartheid and Zionism, divestment and resistance.
Ilan Pappe from Haifa University, an advocate of a one-state solution and boycott of Israeli institutions, will speak on "Resisting Apartheid: Divestment and Solidarity" on Friday. Chairing the meeting is Prof. Steven Rose, a major supporter of an academic and cultural boycott of Israel.
Other speakers include Prof. Gabi Piterberg from University of California at Los Angeles, who spoke on Monday night on "Zionism and Apartheid." Piterberg, an Israeli anti-Zionist, added his signature to a petition in 2003 calling for divestment from Israel.
On Wednesday, Karma Nabulsi, a politics fellow at Oxford and former PLO representative, will talk about "Palestinian Resistance." In a recent article, Dr. Nabulsi's accused Britain and Europe of "funding Israel's occupation and expansion."

Let them try doing it in Greece, we are thd descendants of Hercules, Achiles, and Alexander, we frown on Dhimmitude and Islamofascism and have the courage and the wit to stand against it, so let them try doing it in the land of heros, since if we can prove we were provoked into violence there is no crime, and a week long nazi demonstration is certainly provokation.
The traitor Illan Pappe with his exterminate my people agenda would come out with at least a broken leg.

Easy Prediction. Watch the worldwide Palestinian Propaganda mill switch over into 'Hamas Mode' and preach the 'One State Solution'. It will be delicious fun watching the so-called 'Left' reconcile itself to an Islamist state somewhat to the right of Hitler.

this is one of the last place of the "liberal elites", that is the Universities and Colleges". Parents need to pull their children from these places. Also many large donations from individuals with any brain will be denied to these disgusting institutions of brain wasting!.

It's not just the liberal arts; there are activist profs in every discipline - sociology, economics, geology, you name it.
The most memorable one I've had to endure was in a math class. It was a class in number theory, for heaven's sake, and the guy was wasting class time looning off about the Bush admin.
The only difference is that the more abstract the actual subject of the class is, the harder it is for an instructor with a political agenda to make it seem the least bit relevant.

This is not "Oxford" but some "Palestinian Society" sponsoring this. Avi Shlaim may be at St. Antony's, but so this year is Emmanuele Ottolenghi. The Arabs are in evidence, as the organizers and the speakers, almost all Jews or Israelis, appear to be sufferers from a well-known mental condition that needs no further diagnosis here. See the Handbook of Psychiatric Disorders, passim. It makes good bed-time reading.

One-state solution! Bahahahahaha! That's too much.
So let's see... In this "one-state solution" called Israelistine, the arabs, because they multiply like rodents, have a 3/4 majority in the government. What legal system will they demand to adopt because of their fascist religion?
Sharia' Law!
What rights, freedoms, hopes, or dreams would Jewish people have under a system ruled by Sharia' law?
None.
If you need an example, ask the Jews of Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, etc, etc. No. Ask the Jews of Yathrib (Medina). One could guarantee the complete destruction of all Jewish holy sites, artifacts, and historic centers. As a show of the supremecy of "allah" and his "prophet" (profit), they would build "victory" mosques on jewish holy sites. They would reinstate the Jizya tax. In fact, we could just forget about calling Jews Jewish and call them "Dhimmish" just to keep things in the proper perspective.
One-State solution. You must be joking.

Pity poor Prof. Gabi Piterber and Ilan Pappe - self-hating humans trying to expiate their own demons by villifying an entire nation or people.
The left attracts so many emotionally disturbed, delusionally rationalizing so-called intellectuals who need to demonize others in order to cover up their own cowardice and ineptitude.
Lenin called these people "useful idiots" sowing the seeds of their own demise. This what the university has become. Education is now indoctrination.

Hugh-
Would that be the "Stockholm Syndrome"?
Or anal-sadistic masochistic narcissistic neotony?
The DSM-"9/11" is rich with potential diagnoses.
To me it just looks like self-loathing suicidal Oedipal stupidity.
And speaking of Greek myths, recently, while considering the qualities of other great religious and philosophical giants, and contrasting the "prophet" of Islam with them, it struck me that Mohammad is an anti-Prometheus.
There is no specific mythic figure for a "fire-extinguisher", per se, that I can bring to mind (other than some oblique Trickster figures in African and Native American lore who piss on the primal fire and thereby tease humanity with their negative capriciousness).
But I nominate a new nihilistic mythic figure:
Mohammad, the fire-killer.
He steals the flame of enlightenment back FROM humanity and snuffs it out in the corpses of his defeaten, more progressive victims.
I only wish Freud were alive to share it with.

nice. very nice. How about an eternal creature who does nothing but consume. Cannibalize, consume, reduce, destroy, loot, etc. An all-powerful consuming creature. One who produces nothing and takes everything. Takes and takes and takes.
What mythical creature would that be?

Hamas Wants Off Terror List By ALBERT AJI, Associated Press Writer

DAMASCUS, Syria - A senior Hamas official called on the United States Thursday to remove the militant Islamic group from MFEMFEMFEM's list of terrorist organizations and to open a dialogue without preconditions.

Uhh, lemme see. You're talking about one of these three creatures:
1) Moslems.
2) Marxists.
3) College professors, who are always Marxist and almost always enthralled with the Moslem "students" scowling at them in their lecture halls.
Did I forget to mention the scowling David Gregory?

These 'Jews' remind me of the 'Pro-Peace Crowd' circa 1939 in England ala Chamberlin, but this is unfair to Sir Nevile, these 'people' are something far worse. One could make believe with Fatah and Abbas in control that a two-state solution or a 'one-state' solution might be worked on--if only we could get along mentality ala Beilen, Spielberg ect...but with Hamas, the illusions are stripped away for a two-state solution. Now the peacniks either take Prozac(Haldol might be more appropriate) and masterbate with a one-state solution. Since Hamas will not recognize a Jewish state(even when begged and cajoled to by 'the well-meaning elites') a one state solution is the only way for 'the peace process' to proceed. Lets just wait until the demographics are right and voila . . . NO ISRAEL, just Hamastan with Christians and Jews living in a dhimma status. And I doubt will be seeing much 'Andalusia' in this one state. No, such Jews are something worse. I dread holocaust analogies, but their were Jews who beat other Jews in the camps--but here such lost souls either were forced to or did it to survive. No excuse with the Oxford crowd. You see, they are 'enlightened.' Truly. They 'know' what is best. The 'know' Israel is racist and colonialist, but are in the pathetic tradition of the 'self-hating Jew.' My blood pressure rises when I'm in the same room with this crowd. It's a long list and it's the same list at every rally, every peace rally, every "Palestinian solidarity day" or bullshit left-wing rally. Some, like prominent members of the "International Solidarity" even convert to Islam. I kid you not. But I'll give them there due . . . they're picture perfect Dhimma dhimwits . . . straight from central casting. Strange, I don't flaunt my 'Jewishness,' but these characters like Rose or Chomsky wear their Jewishness on their sleeve, while bashing Israel and Jewish supporters of Israel with glee. Dante has a special place in hell for these scum.

Easy on the college profs, APF. ;) My dad's one, and he's neither dummy nor dhimmi-- there are still some good ones out there. This is also the occupation I've ultimately been pursuing.
What I hope to see in the next ten years is this: We know student conservative movements have gained momentum in the past few years (South Park Conservatives has excellent info on this), and stories abound of conservative (or at any rate, "non-liberal") students challenging radical, activist professors.
Some of these people, or perhaps many, will pursue a vocation in academia. This is coupled with the fact that the Baby Boomers-- and the washed-up hippie radicals among them-- will be retiring in droves over the coming years.
With the changing of the guard comes at least a sliver of hope for a more level playing field of ideas, and as the pendulum swings back from the current extremes (what Hugh brilliantly termed something like "self-esteem and post-colonial studies" a while back), universities may begin to function like universities again.
Hey, unlikelier things have happened.

The only way I see a one state solution working is for the Jews to kickout all the Pali's and move them into Jordan. I for one would be happy to see Israel recover Samaria and Judea. After all, it was stolen from them many moon ago.

it is time to realize that Dhimmitude is not ONLY the status of slavery bestowed by sharia law
on People of the book, but one that is installed into non muslims societies before conquest by Islam.
It is a weapom to be used on the enemy to subdue it into submission before the physical attacks take place. perhaps there is research available on this ?
The communists who were also briliant propagandists targeted firstly the trade Unions, the Universities and peace organisations such as CND because they knew that to create converts they would have to start amongst those who were "ashamed" and felt guilt about their own cultures' achievements.
Ion Pacepa has written much on these propaganda techniques of victimhood and how they were applied on the orders of KGB head Andropov in the re-education of Yassir Arafat.
Oxford academics are after all human beings and some need to give vent to their own vile feelings every now and then. And the Jews and Israelis who are far too polite to strap themselves with suicide bombs and blow themselves up "In the Hall of Learning" are easy targets.
The only blow back they will expect is the odd Voltarian stamement borrowed by Chomsky in the defence of Faurisson Holocaust denial book.
And of course there are those huge generous donations from the arab World,,,,,
They used to say Don't put your daughter on the Stage Mrs Worthington, but it seem preferable to sending her to Oxford these days.

I'm curious as to why these anti-Zionist Israeli Jews continue to live in Israel which they believe is a colonial state where Jews have no right to be. Perhaps they should face some harsh reality and live in an arab country.

THE HUMAN RIGHT TO THUGGERY AND MANIPULATION
By Lucy Owen
The Arab Students Collective at the University of Toronto is currently holding their now annual week-long event “Israeli Apartheid Week”. As independent filmmakers interested in the Arab/Israeli conflict my partner and I, having spent the previous week filming the Jewish Students group Betar Tagar's event ‘Know Radical Islam Week’ without any problems, decided to document this event too, in order to show the different approaches taken by two groups within the University who have historically, been at odds with each other. The Arab students assert that Israel is a racist, apartheid state, where the basic human rights of Palestinians are routinely denied. The Arabs allege Palestinians were ethnically cleansed when the state of Israel was established and all of their descendents thereafter have a “right to return”, and that a two-state solution is unacceptable. Their logo, a map of Israel and the Palestinian territories reads “One state, One person, One vote”.
The Arab students’ accusations and goals are important indeed, which is why we thought we would have no problem in offering them a chance to be heard, in their own words, without fear of outside subjective interpretations. We were sorely mistaken. We were told that our presence with a camera would affect the ‘comfort level’ of the ‘public speakers’ hired for the event. Ironically, their ‘comfort level’ was fine if it was being filmed by an accredited news organization where they would be completely exposed nation-wide. So we decided instead to wait in the public hallways of the University building for the event to end so that we could interview those on their way out and get their opinions and reactions to the lectures. We assured the organizers that we would not roll the camera on anyone unless they gave us explicit permission to do so. This however was unacceptable to them. Why? They told us it was because we were being manipulative and ‘playing games.’
Upon arriving, we ran into someone who agreed to let us film their opinions on the conflict. That’s when the trouble began. After interviewing this young man for nearly 30 seconds, Ahmad Shokr from the organizing committee came over, pulled him away and said the young man was needed back inside the room. Shokr could then be seen down the hall interrogating the young man to whom we were speaking about exactly what was said, constantly eyeing us the whole time. Too bad, the young man had just started to explain to us how the western media is controlled by Jews who refuse to tell the truth about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This sounded strange as the very media of which he was speaking was the same mainstream media who the collective were allowing in to shoot Israeli Apartheid Week. Hmmmmm….
We then began to shoot the large displays the students set up – on public property in the hallway of the University building. Big boards with signs and photographs of Israeli soldiers beating and abusing innocent Palestinians. After only a few seconds of filming, another one of the organizers came over and warned us not to shoot. But he didn’t just warn us: Aggressively and angrily, he moved towards us inches from our faces, clearly intent on threatening to escalate this conflict into a physical one. Let the intimidation commence…. I'm somewhat ashamed to admit it, but to be honest, we were scared and thought it best to turn off our camera. Had security personnel or the police been there, I dare say we would have kept rolling.
Ahmad Shokr approached and told us that while he respected the fact that we were on public property, he requested we “be sensitive” and not walk around with camera in hand, even though it was not rolling. He explained that it was making many people in attendance “uncomfortable”. (At this time, we were only seen by about five people including the ones mentioned.) Unlike his buddy before him, Shokr very astutely decided that making it seem as though we were victimizing audience members would be a better tact in controlling us.
The climax of the evening happened when the lecture was over. As those in attendance began pouring out of the room, we approached some folks in the hopes of getting interviews. Most were unwilling to talk to us, but finally, we found one Arabic man happy to express his views. As we prepared to step outside into the cold to do the interview, Shokr ran up to the Arab gentleman and began to speak to him in Arabic. I suspected he was telling him not to talk to us. When we questioned him about his continual efforts to stop us from getting any footage, he denied he was dissuading his friend from engaging us, however our camera was already rolling to start the interview and we have his words in Arabic on tape. A simple translation will tell us exactly what he said. The soft spoken Arabic gentleman did a lengthy interview in a most polite fashion, despite the fact that members of the collective kept opening the door to see if we were still there. We thanked him and prepared to go back inside to warm up, but alas, we’d been locked out. We went around to the front of the building but they locked those doors too.
This leaves one wondering. What exactly are these people hiding? Why are they so confrontational and angry? Why don’t their views about the media and the filming of ‘public speakers’ coalesce in any rational way? Why don’t they want the greater public to hear their message?
My partner and I are contemplating returning for the rest of the week’s events, however, it’s unlikely we’ll go; personal bodyguards can be awfully expensive.
This doesn’t mean we won’t make our documentary about these students and what they stand for. With or without their cooperation we will expose their agenda, and yes, their tactics and attitudes when dealing with anyone who isn’t clearly a supporter

Re the scholars on board at Oxford, I can't recall if it is Oxford or Cambridge that has Tariq Ramadan, the voice of the "Islamic Enlightenment" as a "visiting scholar"?
In either case, here's an extract and URL from memri.org, of the recent translation of a report by an Egyptian journalist, Adel Gindy, of the extent of Ramadan's "moderation":
Guindy adds that Ramadan belongs to the Salafi stream, to which Qutb, Al-Mawdudi and Al-Bana belong, and says that "Ramadan does not hesitate to express his hatred for the liberal reform stream. He is opposed [to the notion of] Islam developing into an individualistic faith that does not force itself on others... He condemns those who are opposed to the unique way of dress that distinguishes Muslims from others (such as the veil), describing them as traitors who have surrendered to Western thought. He also condemns those who think that the Koran and the Sunna cannot be a source of authority for contemporary personal and cultural behavior, and depicts liberal Muslims who understand liberalism in the Western sense, [i.e. as an outlook which] encourages rationalism and personal individuality, as 'Muslims without Islam'...

I think the guys just want the polygamy option offered by Islam. (Hot damn, ya mean I get more babes!?)
And the women are basically fans of "Venus in Furs" by Leopold vonb Sacher-Masoch. (The bizarre old mentality among willingly-subjugated ditzy dames: If it don't hurt, it ain't dirt. If he don't hit, he ain't sh*t.)
Because Islam offers nothing else.
Not freedom of expression, not freedom of conscience, not freedom of dissent, or even the freedom to leave the faith once you're trapped in it.
Those who promote and defend it seek to be tinhorn warlord pimps or his well-smacked harem ho's.
May Ward Churchill's infidel zipper perform an Islamic martyrdom operation on his risible member.
Inshallah.
