AN IMPORTANT NOTE FROM FJORDMAN: "This may be the first time since I started using the pseodonym Fjordman that I have actually given factually wrong information. The commentary was awful, and I believe it was indeed illustrated with an image showing the Security Wall with the inscription "Arbeit macht frei". That's definitely bad enough. But it looks as if it was a photo, not a drawing, whih makes a big difference. I made the inexcusable mistake of not having the newspaper in front of me while I wrote this, and my memory was wrong. My apologies to Robert Spencer and Jihad Watch for this, as well as the innocent VG cartoonist Roar Hagen.
Please DO NOT send any emails complaining about the non-existent cartoon."
I have accordingly removed the email addresses. I apologize for this also.
A message from Fjordman, whom I had the pleasure of meeting while in Holland last week for the Pim Fortuyn Memorial Conference:
Norway's largest newspaper, VG, which has a higher circulation than Denmark's Jyllands-Posten, yesterday printed a cartoon on page two comparing Israel's policies to the Holocaust. In a page two commentary, journalist Svein Røhne compared Israel's decision to withhold money from the now Hamas-controlled Palestinian Authority to "the actions of a certain master race." A cartoonist illustrated the piece with a cartoon showing the Security Wall with the inscription: "Arbeit macht frei," the same as on the Auschwitz extermination camp during WW2. This happens at the same as Hamas is cooperating with Iran, whose president recently called for "wiping Israel off the map." A senior representative of the Norwegian Ministry for Foreign Affairs has just visited Tehran for "dialogue." Iranian authorities assured that they would increase security at the Norwegian embassy, which was attacked recently together with the Danish embassy because of the cartoon issue. Rumor has it that some of the guards were drinking coffee with the demonstrators following the attacks.VG have not printed the Muhammad cartoons because this could "inflame the situation," but are brave enough to print this cartoon. They have also not voiced any opposition to the outrageous new Discrminination Act, which stipulates that Norwegians are guilty of discriminating against Mulim immigrants until proven otherwise , or to the huge spike in rape charges that has followed Muslim immigration to the country.
I'm sick and tired of this cowardice and Eurabian hypocrisy, and urge Norwegian readers not to buy VG or indeed ANY Norwegian newspapers until they have printed the Muhammad cartoons, too. Read news online, through blogs and Jihad Watch, or switch to Danish newspapers. It's time for a boycott of our media.
The good news is that the general populace is growing sick and tired of this appeasement diplayed by our elites. Mr. Carl I. Hagen's right-wing Progress Party, the only significant opposition to all of this and also the most pro-Israeli of the major parties, has surged ahead on opinion polls following the cartoon affair. It could soon be the country's largest party.
The cartoon is not available online; I read it in the print edition yesterday. But it is mentioned by Norway's largest independent blog today:

How disgustingly ignorant, but all too common it is for "journalists" to draw such incredible moral equivalences as the one exemplified by this article. I hope VG is properly roasted by public opinion at home and that the 80% of the world that isn't Islamic boycotts Norwegian exports.
One thing you can be sure of... ...there won't be Jews, Israeli or otherwise, setting fire to Norwegian embassies around the world, but maybe it is time for demonstrations.

outrageous and repulsive. It's time to call for preventing Norway from acting as a mediator in any conflict in other parts of the world.
kudos to fjordman for his courageous article.

The spirit of Vidkun Quisling is still alive and well in Oslo. For those who forget, Quisling was a Norwegian who handed his country over to the German Nazis.

I have been admiring this fjordman character for a long time now. Too bad he stopped blogging a while ago, his views and comments are always sharpe and well articulated. He provides many examples of the dhimmitude that prevails in my scandinavian neighbouring countries. Thank goodness I'm not living in Norway or Sweden!

Off-topic, but here is a link to the Danish cafepress store, where I just bought a hoodie with the Danish flag on the front. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to wear it in the UK. On the other hand, it seems that we need to be willing to step on toes in order to make our statements about freedom of speech.

Courageous editors keep popping up in the strangest places - and none of them are the mainstream western press. The latest is the Savana from Mozambique:
Mozambique publishes cartoons
"Maputo - Mozambique independent weekly Savana published eight of the 12 controversail cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad on Saturday."
"The cartoon showing Muhammad wearing a bomb-shaped turban is included in the eight published."
"Muslims account for about 18% of the Mozambican population."
"So far, the country's Muslim leaders have kept a low profile on the cartoon row, which has inflamed Muslims around the world since the drawings were published in a Danish newspaper.
"Savana says it is not anti-Muslim, pointing out that one of its regular columnists is an Islamic theologian."

Welcome to our freezing land Libby's mom (if you're here) and check out Harry's Place (the blogsite that is, not some nice cosy cafe). There is talk there of a demo in support of the Danes suggested by Christopher Hitchens and Oliver Kamm. Well worth supporting. As for the Norwegian dhimmis - they are truly sick-making. Appeasement is horrible at the best of times - but such a vicious onslaught on Israel is truly despicable. And in fact the upsurge in Israel bashing since Ahmadinejad unleashed the 'wipe Israel from the map' dogs is alarming - with the caring, PC, liberal media leading the way.

The reason:
-they aren't worried about the Jewish terrorists burning Norwegian embassies, marching in their cities trashing cars and businesses, boycotting their goods or going bananas globally.
It's easier to make a false comparison (security wall to prevent terrorists from entering Israel with Nazi death camp perimeter where Jews and others were mass-murdered) and kick a little country threatened by 1.2 billions Muslims than it is to anger those same Muslims with an accurate critique of extremist Islam (Mohammad with a bomb turban) which always uses Mohammad and the Koran as their inspirational source and "divine" justification for jihadist terrorism.
Cowardice, thy name is VG.

As that great philosopher, Homer Simpson, pointed out long ago "It's only funny because it's true." It's clear that the comments made in the Norwegian newspaper are neither true nor funny.
Why all the pandering to Hamas? How is witholding funds from Hamas in anyway comparable to shipping human beings by cattle car to Auschwitz? Where is it stated anywhere that one must fund one's enemies? Did the Axis powers fund the Allied war effort?
Such "logic" makes my head explode.

If Israel does not give Hamas money they are Nazis.
If they give Hamas money and if Hamas and Iran get their way and if there are any Jews left, it will be said that Jews collaborated to kill their own by giving Hamas money.

Can anyone provide a scan of this image and maybe the article that came with it?
I can think of several danish newspapers that would be willing to make a story out of this hipocracy if they were to get a tip about it. Just need something solid to show them.
This is exactly the kind of stuff we need in order to prove that islam is actually being treated much better than other religions, and its their own over-sensitivity that causes the problem.

Schizophrenia seems to be the greatest danger facing the West.
Left liberals defending Islamist regimes somewhat to the right of Hitler that mutilate and degrade women beyond belief.
Extreme right wing 'Aryan Christian "Jews run the world" paranoids throwing their lot in with Hamas.
The lesson seems to be all psychos and nuts across the inhuman spectrum find a home in Jihadist Islam. Its beautiful to see that the whole world can agree on one thing - we Jews are the enemy of all mankind.

I just bought a hoodie with the Danish flag on the front. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to wear it in the UK.
While I very much doubt you'd come to harm, I think you'd do best to leave gesture politics to the young men.
But I don't think you should get too nervous about the current situation in the UK. I think there are long-term social problems - and there is the occasional flaring of violence. But, while radical imams may have more influence than the average Briton would like, most ordinary Muslims, so far as I can tell, are not slavering for the blood of the infidel. I've come across plenty of unaggressive, open-minded Muslims who've had perfectly easy relations with Hindus despite the simmering conflict in the sub-continent. A non-Muslim woman going about her ordinary business would be unlikely to be attacked on the street even if she were to stray into a predominantly Muslim area.
I wouldn't suggest, for example, hanging around the notorious Finsbury Park Mosque in the hoodie with the infidel emblem. But otherwise you should be in no danger.
I hope you enjoy your visit.

One thing for sure if some Jewish person takes it into his head to issue and carry out a personal "fatwah" against some journalist or cartoonist the MSM won't have a leg to stand on to criticise.
But in such a case I think we can bet on it that they will wade into Jews in general to vent their outrage.

OT, perhaps.
"Its beautiful to see that the whole world can agree on one thing - we Jews are the enemy of all mankind."
I am not Jewish **(as far as I know), but why is that I wonder? Why, throughout history have the Jewish people been persecuted ceaselessly?
I am no biblical scholar but if:
Isalam IS the work of Satan wouldn't Lucifer want to torment the "Chosen People" ceaselessly?
Apply the same to numerous tyrannical entities in History... KKK, Nazis and many more.
Why are Jews hated so if not that they are THE chosen people? I am truly vexed.
Enlighten me.
**What ever happened to the ten lost tribes of Israel? Is it feasible that they were dispersed into European lands (before they were known as European Lands) only to become intertwined with those peoples and thus be my ancestors (I am American and therefore I know I have European ancestry but that's about all I know of my ancestry) as well as some of those that claim that they hate Jews and wish them ill? It has been supposed that Hitler had a Jewish Grandfather.

Its beautiful to see that the whole world can agree on one thing - we Jews are the enemy of all mankind.
Not in my country. Here in the UK, the two most respected daily newspapers, The Daily Telegraph and The Times are both staunch friends of Israel and of the Jews. I don't believe either would ever stoop to printing anti-Semitic articles.
I suppose that Bernard Lewis is right and the current hatred directed at Jews by many in the Muslim world is a result of Israel's crushing victory in the Six Day War. Some Muslims simply can't live comfortably with the consciousness of that humiliation. I notice that in "The Roots of Muslim Rage" (in From Babel to Dragomans) Lewis says that the US, because of its overwhelming power, arouses similar feelings of humiliation - to the extent that some Muslims have been readier to deal with Israel than with the US. Hey, some Danes have drawn some cartoons - let's put Ronald McDonald, that symbol of American hegemony, on the bonfire!
I'm not sure why some continental Europeans - and some in the UK - should want to join in with this.
For the left establishment I think it really comes down to the wish to lavish lordly affection on a "victim", to convert a whole group of people (the Palestinians) into a kind of proletariat-substitute to gloat over. Israel, I assume, is the victim of its own success in not having been wiped off the map by its aggressive neighbours. If it had been, it would have qualified for leftist sympathy as an object of pity. As it is, it must play the role of demon in the weird game taking place within the emotional economy of the leftists in question.
I'm not clear to me what goes on in the minds of the nationalist/racist European fringe. Who can say just what David Irving thinks and why? He seems to feel some need to minimize what Hitler personally, and the Nazis in general, did and yet at the same time, seems to admire the man for his repulsive views and is, presumably, only too aware of what they led to - and were meant to lead to. Maybe hatred of the Jews for someone like this is a kind of by-product of a fascination with Hitler. I suppose evil has its own glamour. Is this a matter for historians or sociologists to puzzle over? It seems more a matter for the psychiatrist's couch.

Nah - I have four young men of my own, two of whom are reading PIG.
I also believe that the only chance we have to protect the rights we all took for granted a month ago is for each of us to do what we can. A single mom of four has as much responsibility to protest as her oldest young man of 18.

I'm sorry, I should have had the newspaper in front of me when I was writing this. I am usually very careful with checking the facts, but I may have been too quick this time. I remembered reading the commentary, which did indeed compare the Israelis to the "master race", and it was illustrated with an picture showing the Security Wall with the inscription "Arbeit Macht Frei". Habnab:
Depending on where you came from in Europe, chances of some Jewish ancestry is pretty high. Poland was 25% Jewish until the Holocaust. I don't know how many Portuguese, Spanish and Italian Jews converted during the Inquisition, but there is a tiny remnant who clung very tenuously to their faith via a few rituals. (New Mexico has a small population of "crypto-Jews" because of the Spanish Inquisition).
Ireland had a sizeable influx of eastern European Jews about 250 years ago, primarily from Lithuania that either converted/assimilated or moved on to the Americas. Christopher Hitchens was surprised to find out, in adulthood, that both his mother and grandmother were Jewish with roots in western Poland. Maddie Albright and John Kerry both found out their families were practicing Judaism a generation or two earlier... ...I could go on.
So, who knows, but that maybe you have some Jewish DNA too.

I'm leading a contingent of Sephardic Jews to the nearest Norwegan embassy. I'll hold a sign stating Norway is the tumor; Sephardim are the answer. Think about it the whole thing: the cartoons, the anti-free speech business, the endless dhimitude, teaching art to Muslims, and Iraq imploding and now Bush turns the hen house over to the wolves. I guess you have to laugh about it a little when you consider how ridiculous the whole business is. Well, bush does have a future as a stand up comic . . . Islam is the Religion of Peace. Islam means Peace. Yea, right.

Working fast, stuff can slip through. It's happened to Spencer on this fine website. But it's intent , general method, and overall quality that matters, not perfection. As we say in America, if you hit .990 you would take make tens of billions and take over the world.
No, check that. The Moslems are slated to take over the world, not you or Spencer. I read about the Moslem world takeover in the Koran. Dammit, I hate it when I make mistakes.
