Finnish Broadcasting Company bans Muhammad pictures from its entertainment programmes

Dhimmitude in Helsinki, from Helsingen Sanomat, with thanks to Millo:

The Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) has decided to prohibit showing the Danish cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad in its entertainment programmes. The ban applies, for example, to popular quizzes such as SF-studio, to the animated political satire Itse valtiaat, and to Uutisvuoto (the Finnish version of "Have I Got News for You").

"There is reason to leave these cartoons and this discussion out of our entertainment programming", says YLE TV1 director of programmes Riitta Pihlajamäki.

The guidelines do not directly forbid discussing the subject, only the showing of the images first published in the Danish daily Jyllands-Posten, reported the Finnish newspaper Keskisuomalainen on Thursday.

Perhaps they should also ban Movies which contain images of muslims, after all that IS against the koran. They could start with 'Kingdom of Heaven.'

No images?

Then make up for it by speaking constantly about the details of Muhammad's life. Quote from the Hadith of al-Bukhari and Muslim. Quote from the Muslim versions (Ibn Ishaq) of the Sira. Quote from Sura 9, until certain passages are learned by heart -- start with 9.29 and work from there.

And write, write, write, in the daily press, write even more furiously knowing you cannot print those images, that you have been censored in your own country, prevented from exercising what is now, and only because of Muslim fanatics and murderous threats, a not-quite-free freedom of speech.

Make up for it, you Horatios at the Bridge, with what Hamlet, but only when he had his antic disposition on, dismissed as mere words, words, words.

I once spent a lonely evening in a hotel room in Tampere Finland's second largest city. I wrote up my notes, finished my book and had to resort to Finnish television. Which I would say was slightly better than Jordanian TV. I recall a locally made game show called Las Vegas Up which featured a fetching looking young woman with a pack of cards somewhat taller than she was. And the US drama Midnight Caller, with subtitles. I admit that the good Finnish language television which I am sure does exist would have been inaccessable to me due to my lack of knowledge of the language.
This latest incident is unfortunate.

Granny W - I've never felt the urge to go to Finland. Apparently they do a good line in nostalgia (Finns ain't what they used to be). Monty Python wrote a song about Finland.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Pony trekking or camping,
Or just watching TV.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
It's the country for me.

You're so near to Russia,
So far from Japan,
Quite a long way from Cairo,
Lots of miles from Vietnam.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Eating breakfast or dinner,
Or snack lunch in the hall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.

And so on.

"Finnish Broadcasting Company bans Muhammad pictures from its entertainment programmes"

So much for "entertainment" in Finland... I imagine the Finns were just beginning to enjoy this whole cartoon thing... It is very finny.

No Nokia. No cloudberry liqueur (Canada makes a version; you can buy it at the duty-free along the border). No nothing.

Finland? Finland. Fiiiinnnnlaaaannnnduh. Fin Land? Finland!

Huh, uhhh where is this place exactly?

I had forgotten the Python song. I had spent the previous night in Stockholm (beautiful place, one day I will go back!) where I kept being reminded of The Stranglers song Sweden (let me tell you about Sweden, only country where the clouds are interesting) which is a bit unfair, I thought. Swedish Vovo drivers are a lot more considerate than their English counterparts, even if they did change onto the wrong side of the road.

A very good article about self-censorship (Helsingin Sanomat, the largest Finnish newspaper) :

"Self-censorship has always encouraged censorship

Finnish clergyman Anders (Antti) Chydenius (1729-1803) is the father of modern freedom of information, writes Stephen Lamble, an Australian researcher into freedom of expression and the press."

Ah yes, but Cairo is apparently not so very far from Finland anymore. ;)

Gary, you wisely suggest "Perhaps they should also ban Movies which contain images of muslims, after all that IS against the koran. They could start with 'Kingdom of Heaven.'"

And can we extend that (since, after all, what Right Thinking person wants to Insult Islam?!) to exclude all images of Muslims from everywhere at all times .. their angry street-dance performances provided for the benefit of MSM programing efforts, all angry imam rants, all governmental photo ops (including the Great Distraction photo op of all time - Palestine images)? In short, no more images of Muslims, anytime anyplace ever. Let's just stop insulting these poor people.

Finland is between Sweden and Russia, and I'm writing this here in Finland right now. Finland is roughly the same kind of country as are Denmark, Sweden or Norway. Except that this country is almost 100 % muslim-free. Physically, many American tourists have told me that they could have passed the border to Canada and saved the money.

Sure, the abovementionend policy sounds like cowardice - and it is dhimmi - but, in all silece, there's been some interesting developments in our political arena, well below MSM radar.

Interestingly, yesterday the news was that the Parliament passed a law allowing "cultural deportation". It sounds good , and it sure is good. Remember, in this country we have something like 0.2 % of the population are muslims. This is a result of strict immigration laws adopted during the cold war. The laws are strict in that sense that the laws allow the authorities to deport criminal migrants. Right as well, Finland just follows the Geneva treaty - this means that the trick of throwing away your papers on Finnish airport does not work here as it does in Sweden. The Swedish "authorities" start the long asylum process no matter how false your story is, but here all a paperless wannabe gets is a flight ticket back to where he came from. The Swedes have been whining about our laws, but in real life they are just jealous that we don't have the islam crap on the streets.

We have the situaton under control, and we intend to keep it that way. The new law - "cultural deportation" - obviously aims (small) somali gangs which seem to have no intention to assimilate to the Finnish society. The Somalis have themselves said that is is a shame to work for infidels. Right as well they say pretty openly that to rape a Finnishwoman is not criminal at all; well, as you wish, here's your airline ticket and HAVE A NICE DAY.

Finn,

Ya, but how's the skiing?

Posted by: PRCS [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 22, 2006 4:57 PM

No skiing, but lakes, beautiful lakes, and forests circling the town and a market that sold more varieties of berries than I had seen in one place before.

No, please, don't boycott Finland. As Finn points out, unlike Sweden and Norway, they have been doing things right.

Only place we haven't heard from in the Nordic countries is Iceland. What's the status there?

Granny, I actually have a flat in Tampere and my official place of residence is Tampere. Right now work up here in northern Finland and I have rented my flat, but I will return to Tampere next year.

Infidel, muslims in Iceland = 0.

Posted by: Finn [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 23, 2006 7:10 AM

Hi Finn
I also remember being served some delicious homemadecakes, seven varieties was the tradition, do I remember correctly?
I am not surprised what you say about Iceland, where I was mistaken for a Dane, because of my "excellent English"
But I am English.

Posted by: Granny Weatherwax [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 23, 2006 7:50 AM

Granny,
sorry for slow response. You do remember right, though "seven sorts" is a sort of Finnish proverb. (Especially) earlier, when Finland was a poor country, after a party, your friends ask you how was it. Then - when the party obviously was a success - one said that they offered "all the seven sorts." :)

May-be Finland want to protect they export ind from beiny expect by the picture that insult the moslim world. The biggest cell phone make is base in Finland and Finland must export and import many other raw material and good. It bad bussien practive to insult your cousterm.

Sooner of later Finland will have more moslim as the world moslim population grow.

I live around NYC so I know about gangs and under Islamist Law they would have being sersious jail time of beheaded end of gang problem.

In the 1970's up to 1990's NYC have ahuge gang problen not help by upstate Christian lawmaker who didnot want to help NYC as they call it Sin City.
Under NY law at that time you can only hold than person for one year and it the trail cannot take place in that time frame the criminal have to let go
. The State Court in NYC where only able to handle 3000 cases ayear that where criminal ayear and the NYC arrest very year 250,000 people ayear on major crimes. Than Major crime that make up of least of the arrest where prostitude doing they bussien not really harming anybody while headbranger( A person who beat up people to rob then of if female also rape then, includeing 8 and 9 year old boy who rob
and rape old womam, also carry knifes and guns) where walking around attacking people. The NYC Police want the state government to give the city the power to declare certain victimless crime not major crime so they can so after headbanger, the upstater refuse to go along with that idear. NYC became a safe haven for criminal who rod, murder and rape people on Long Island apart of NY State and Connet an other states and NJ than other state. There where at least over 1 million gang member in NYC population about 8 million people.

One day some long Island police officer and non-police office put on satrical these Christian who make our life ahell on earth for not doing they jobs. One of their high rank religious leader
from out of state walk in we stop the play as we didnot want to offense that outstate religious leader. He said he wasnot insult as the Christian upstate insult him more by they refusal to help one of they major city in it major criminal crise.
His pregeant wife have than miscaraige cause by headbanger rapeing her when 7 or 8 month pregeant and rapeing they teenager daughter. All these headbanger didnot believe in a God of have any religious value at all. It got so bad that than new type of gang came into being than gang to protect the local people from criminal gangs and extact justive which the state wasnot doing. It final end when some people turn to the federal court for help. The judge listern to what the many represt of the local people said, to the NYC police department. He was almost ready to rule that the US Federal Court will take over NYC and use federal troop and Federal Court Enforcement men to police the city. He decide to chech the Highter Court an they told him they will handle it. The Chief Judge went to the President than said you have a big problen in NYC and it you donot do anything about it the Federal will declare NYC than Federal Court Territty. The President called up the governor of the state saying he must do something about that city crime problen. The end was the State gave the city the power to make certain victimless crime not major crimes and allow the city judge to hold criminal trial under city laws which where mostly the same which they where not allow to and the city judge where able to hold 30,000 criminal ayear, and the police arrest around 40,000 ayear criminal. That started to break the gangs hold on the city. The High Court also warm other state legratour and govonor that they never want to see than repeat of happen to NYC dues to the people of the city voteing for one while the other party hold power in the legurative brank.

No, Defender, no. There will not be such numbers of muslims in Finland as they have in the weak Sweden. Their amount can only stay even or decline but not increase.

Posted by: Finn [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 24, 2006 9:09 AM

Defenderofislam

Clearly English isn´t your first language. Don't worry. What is your first language?

Jesus is the Lord of Finland. The God of the Bible i.e. the God of Abraham, Isak and Jacob = Jehovah, is the God of Finland. The Finns will never bow to Allah, Mohammed or any other "god". The Jehovah HAS NOTHING TO DO with Allah.
Jesus died for you. Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord, invoking Him as Lord, will be saved.

Posted by: Joanna [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 25, 2006 2:32 PM

Upon reading the above thread, I will appeal personally to the legurative brank in the hope that we don't see than repeat of happen to NYC dues... I thought it was deplorable!

I also want to protect they export ind from beiny expect by the picture... I thought that was pretty bad as well -- something to be avoided at all costs!

Reflecting upon: "I live around NYC so I know about gangs and under Islamist Law they would have being sersious jail time of beheaded end of gang problem..."

...I am filled with wonder and awe -- how the F*** did we let someone like this into America in the first place!?
