"Doctor, 4 brothers arrested for murder of sister in 'honor killing,'" from Haaretz, with thanks to Dror:
A gag order was lifted on Thursday on the arrests of five brothers from Lod who are suspected of murdering their 19-year-old sister in the name of family honor. The young girl, Rim Abu Ganem, was killed after her brother Suliman, a 33-year-old pediatrician at Assaf Harofeh Hospital, allegedly gave his brothers an anesthetic with which to drug her. According to the suspicions against them, her brothers, whose ages range from 20 to 33, choked her to death after she fell asleep.

Judge, jury and executioner. And it's your own family.

Don't worry about it, she was just a girl.

A paediatrician helps murder his sister for family honour. Lovely values. Wonder what she was "guilty" of... ...being molested by one of her male relatives.
But I know, it's the brutalizing effect of the "occupation" that makes them act like this.

I presume those doctors don't take a Hippocratic oath?

Watergradon:
Here is her crime:
"Rim had fallen in love a few months earlier with a Palestinian man, despite attempts by her family to betroth her to a resident of Lod. She insisted on maintaining her relationship with the Palestinian man, and ran away from home for a few days."
Imagine the crime - falling in love with a different man than the one your family wants to sell you to. Oh the shame! What to do, what to do - kill her they say. Bring honour to the family.
Only among Muslims in the Middle East.

She must've had her ankle exposed while taking a shower when one of her brothers inadvertantly peeped through the key hole at her.
Totally understandable.....in Islamofecesland.

I would be scared to take my child to a doctor who has just helped kill his sister.
And blood is thicker than water. Not!

Waterdragon,
this family lived in Lod which has been part of Israel since 1948. They were Israeli citizens. As reported, one of them was a pediatrician in a hospital. This has nothing to do with any occupation, real or alleged.

Eliyahu,
I think you 'missed' a missing "/sarc" tag. Understandable as many do blame the "occupation" for everything from murder to disappearing penises. waterdragon52 likes to go commando, without the /sarc, I'd guess.

I'm sure that the honour killings we actually get to hear about are only the tip of the iceberg.
On a slightly lighter note, here is an example of another of the ways that fear is instilled in young girls. It concerns a chain email/text message that receivers were admonished to send to ten people each or suffer allah's punishment. It started circulating in Arabic countries, made its way to Turkey and then into Germany. It featured the picture of a 'rat' that had once been a girl who insulted islam. This girl apparently lived in the Netherlands and had a row with her mother over the use of the livingroom. Mother wanted to pray in it and daughter wanted to watch music videos. Daughter picked up the koran in a temper, threw it on the floor and jumped on it. Whereupon allah turned her into a rat.
The story and accompanying picture was circulated widely not just among adults but among young children, terrifying them, giving them nightmares, particularly the young girls, which was, no doubt, the point of the whole exercise. One young boy said his female cousin had said she should also be killed to restore family honour. At such a young age is this warped concept instilled.
Being changed into a rat wasn't punishment enough, she must also be killed! (I suppose this is the belt and braces approach).
The 'rat' in question is the work of an Australian sculptor. It does indeed look quite humanoid.

Eliyahu:
I was attempting sarcasm in alluding to a "root cause" other than one that really is a rooted cause -- an inherently violent and myscogentistic society. This same stuff goes on in other Muslim countries that are Judenfrei. If anything, the only reason we know about this story is that it took place in a country with a free and open press.

And with a police willing to arrest four murderers and indict them.

Compulsion Under Sunni Islamic Law

o.1.0 WHO IS SUBJECT TO RETALIATION FOR INJURIOUS CRIMES
…
o1.1 Retaliation is obligatory (A: if the person entitled wishes to take it (dis: o3.8)) against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right. ….
o1.2 The following are not subject to retaliation:
…
(2) a Muslim for killing a non-Muslim;
(3) a Jewish or Christian subject of the Islamic state for killing an apostate from Islam (O: because a subject of the state is under its protection, while killing an apostate from Islam is without consequences);
(4) a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring’s offspring

Waterdragon,
I understood that you were being sarcastic but nowadays you/we shouldn't be always be sarcastic or subtle. It really has to be understood and known that this family are Israeli citizens. As you known, Arabs have been in the Knesset [Israeli parliament] from the beginning. The first Knesset took office, I believe, in 1949. So these people were citizens with voting rights as well as rights to the goodies of the welfare state. And one brother was a physician at a hospital serving both Jewish and Arab patients [his role in the murder was to supply a sleep inducing medication]. I know that you know and understand the Israeli reality. But we are facing a generation of extreme ignorance today. And they are being led and manipulated by truly evil people into believing all sorts of gross lies. In such a situation, sarcasm and subtlety are not always suitable.

sorry for grammatical errors.
Since this family was not living under "occupation," then the cause of the murder was their Arab/Islamic culture and morality. This highlights the reality of the Islamic factor in the murder.
