Liberal Saudi journalist Rebah Algwaie arrested on apostasy charges

What's that? You mean, even in our friend and ally Saudi Arabia, our staunch anti-terrorist ally, the Islamic laws of apostasy are enforced? What are you, some kind of Islamophobe?

From the Saudi Information Agency, with thanks to DFS:

(Saudi Information Agency -Washington DC, 7 April 2006) ... Liberal journalist Rebah Algwaie was arrested Monday on apostasy charges in the northern city of Hail.

Algwaie, 25, worked for Okaz and Shamas newspaper, and was a frequent blogger on many liberal website, most have been shutdown by the Saudi government.

On November 14, 2005, Algwaie received death threats from unknown individuals who destroyed his car and left a message warning him to return to Islam or face direct harm.

There was no word on his condition, and if he was allowed a lawyer.

Imagine your group is so popular - that if someone tries to leave it - they should be killed.

This is what Islam wants to be free to do - in the rest of the world.

Charged with apostacy? But we've been told by the apologists for Islam that the Koran says "there is no compulsion in religion"

"The Koran is crystal clear in stating, "There is no compulsion in religion." The commandment is absolute; there are no exceptions. Coercion, compulsion, force - whatever one chooses to call it - is totally forbidden. No other holy book lays down such a clear directive to its adherents."

How dare anyone one can get out of that death-trap? If it is conversion TO Islam, there will be somuch tom-toms,and chest beatings from these Islamists that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world.
Just give the freedom to Muslims (as the Christians have) to comeout of their religion,if they desire so,and see the reality of Islam.
Is Allah so much frightened, about the population of His clan will drastically reduced to nothing,if He allows the flood gates of Islam keep open for any apostate? There is only an "inward" gate to Islam. Once you come in,thats it.Dont even dream of leaving Islam-you have to pay with your life for it.

PLEASE:

Send a letter to your representatives.

If a global campaign saved a guy in Afghanistan to be able to have his freedom of conscience, hopefully a campaign will save this guy to have his freedom of speech.
