Playboy jihad in Indonesia?

An edition of Playboy containing no nudity inspires jihad threats in Indonesia. "Tame Playboy sparks excitement in Muslim Indonesia," from Reuters, with thanks to Rogier Van Bakel:

Some militant groups have taken things into their own hands on occasion by, for example, attacking unlicensed churches and bars selling alcohol during the Muslim fasting period.

"I am afraid to sell the first edition because it has been reported that the Islamic organizations would be on alert," said newsstand owner Ronni, 30, who operates near the headquarters of a hardline Muslim group, the Islamic Defenders' Front (FPI).

Tubagus Sidiq, a senior leader of FPI, told Reuters: "FPI opposes (Playboy) in whatever form."

"According to our commitment, if they don't withdraw it then we will act in our own way, the forceful way. Our crew will clearly hound the editors ... We even oppose the name Playboy."

How would Muslims react to Playgirl? Imagine Qaradawi, or Tariq Ramadan, in the nude.

attacking unlicensed churches

Have you got a licence for that church?

We can't have people going around saying things like this willy nilly and all unlicensed:

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female ..."

or

"... love covereth a multitude of sins."

or

"And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing."

And so on, and so forth. How shocking! I'm agnostic myself, but even I can see that. What's all this nonsense about love (charity, caritas, agape,) anyway?

It'll be eros next ...

"la bocca mi baciograve tutto tremante"

And what kind of a threat to proper social discipline does such an individualizing emotion present?

Hey, I'd be mad and rioting too if my new issue of Playboy showed up and there wan't a single nude female to be found within it's pages. I sure hope the articles in those things are really good to make up for the lack of "other" content.

this willy nilly and all unlicensed

For avoidance of unlicensed willy nilly, best to leave nothing agape.

What's the use of having Playboy if the women would be covered in burkas? Hey, I guess those guys would be looking at fashion magazines.

Posted by: freewoman [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 10, 2006 4:32 PM

Oh, those silly Muslims!

Posted by: Ironman Hondo [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 10, 2006 4:43 PM

Agape - agape - what's the difference? And don't expect me to type in the appropriate character entities (or even add diacriticals) to make the point. :-)

Incidentally, I'd be surprised to find out that eros wasn't the point here:

Yojimbo - I just saw an opening and couldn't resist.

I don't suppose the Saudis ever look at porn. Hypocrites.

Photos of nude women are a no-no, but killing 'unclean' dogs, of which two were sexually abused is just fine and dandy...

I guess those guys would be looking at fashion magazines.

Sounds likely:

... "thoughtful designers are putting the change of mood into a different context, as they talk about the "Muslim-ization" of fashion," gushes the Herald Tribune " ... any color as long as it is black ... The mood is now for a chaste sobriety."

Hope you got that, ladies. Know your place. And the men need to get wit the programme, too. Robert had better stop trimming that beard and whack a bit of henna on it.

"The au naturale female form is the divine on Earth."
-Auguste Rodin.

(You just know his statue "The Thinker" would have to be outlawed within Islam, as well. That thinking stuff is even more dangerous than a missing burqa.)

Indonesia used to be predomnately Hindu and Buddhists, but from the 7th to 14th century, the arrival of Arabs brought Islam, which became the dominant religion.

The Hindu and Buddhist kingdoms were eliminated from the map even though their architecture remains.

Now that Playboy is on the stands, maybe there will be a ressurgance.

"FPI opposes (Playboy) in whatever form."

It is amazing how a religion can turn what was once a tropical paradise full of enlightened people into a narrow minded antiquated backwards thinking mob of thugs.

Or, turning a perfectly good world into a land of squalor.

I'd rather not!

If you want something really scary, try imagining a nude Captain Hook.

"Or, turning a perfectly good world into a land of squalor." freewoman

A clear mark of civilisation, is the degree of comfort and security it affords it's citizens as individuals. The barbaric on the other hand, as you state, leaves a trail of squalor.

From the religious to the just plain ambitious, the means are similar, mendacity in the cause of sophistry. The ascent of the domminant conviction is always upon the bones of the gullible and the innocent.

If you stop and look at the countries these islamists (and illegals) come from, it's pathetic. You can be poor and not have your surroundings look like trash.

I've been saying that before long, and probably several years, our country will be a third world country.

Some people just can't leave their baggage at home.

Posted by: freewoman [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 10, 2006 6:20 PM

Interested

Imagine that, amazing what you can learn from the most unlikely source

So that's where I've been going wrong all these years, all I needed to do was study female anatomy a bit more studiously, locate the 'kitchen area', give it a good kiss...I'd be in like Flyn. Now you tell me. Interested, I think I should have met you a long time ago, for you could have saved this poor fool, a lot of grief.

Now where did I last see that copy of Gray's Anatomy

"I've been saying that before long, and probably several years, our country will be a third world country."

Robert Kaplan wrote a book entitled, "The Coming Anarchy" on that exact premise. That together with their poverty, third world immigrants into western societies, will bring a host of other baggage, including their disfunctional pathologies. Left to their own divices, as the preffered multiculturalist method, they will sow the seeds of anarchy (in the more commonly understood sense). A forced controlled assimilation into society would prevent this, but NOOOOO, that would be the oppressive white man, imposing his mean domminating views upon the free spirit of the 'noble savage'. So instead we will all end up in Mogadisho, subject to the whim of the biggest thug. Dosen't the future look wonderful.

At least that's what it will be, unless we can find real leaders, not this current lot of placemen for the prevailing ideologies.

"...I don't suppose the Saudis ever look at porn. Hypocrites..."

From above. LOL!

Whenever you're in Europe, on the late night TV-channels, you can see all this advertising for all kinds of porn, 24/7.

Nearly all of these porn-channels offer their services in ARABIC, some exclusively!

What does that tell you?

Muslim Indonesian does not like Playboy magazine.

But it is interesting that you can't go wrong selling 'The Advocate' magazine there. Are Muslims members of their local NAMBLA chapters?

Finally something to jerk off too and they throw a fit? i guess cave drawings do it for them.
